Small place,really cute and cozy. You can dine in or order for pickup. I ordered mild wings and mozzarella sticks. I wanted to try the baba ghanoush, but unfortunately, they had run out. Very tasty middle eastern food that is not greasy yet the meat is tender and fresh. We fed 6 adults and 3 kids with leftovers to spare by getting a chicken gyro platter, lamb gyro platter and a family kebab combo platter. The price was great and everything was delicious. The sauces are great too. The white sauce and the spicy red sauce allowed for delicious customizations. My favorite was probably the kebab platter as it was spicy, juicy and had a hint of charcoal flavor. The workers are very friendly people too. read more

Let me wait till 1155. The customer on the phone had alot of orders but the worker couldnt even tell me sorry for the wait. All he sqw was $$$$ from the other customer. Took this guy who look like he doesn't even work there another 5 min to answer another phone call before helping me out. I couldnt believe it They never apologized for the wait. Terrible customer service. Now that they are more popular, they don't care about you anymore. No etiquette at all. Terrible. The guy behind the register needs alot of work. The food is just mediocre in my opinion. I just needed a quick bite and it ended up having me lost 15 min of my life i will never get back. They're lucky they're the only afghan place in the area. I would rather go to Efes or Sahara or even Mamouns down the street in New Burnswick. You get much better staffing and great quality food. And they're quick. I ordered from Flame Kabob House once before and they had something for all of us (my kids are rather picky). The gyros were fantastic, as was the chicken tikka pita. I thought the food here was really delicious. I got fish tikka. The rice was oily but very flavorful and it had some raisins and sweet carrots in it. I did not mind it being oily. The fish was not oily and was cooked perfectly. It was soft and melted in my mouth, but crispy on the outside. It was spiced well. Food here was so good. The salad was really fresh. The meat was really juicy and flavourful and felt like authentic Afghan food with the kabuli rice. We got the Lamb Chops and Chicken Chapli kabobs and scarfed it down so fast. Their sauces were also super good especially the green one. Side note:I'm putting 4 stars because I ordered through Grubhub and when I got there the owner told me next time to just call the order in because it's cheaper for both the restaurant and customer. So just note that their actual prices are cheaper than the Grubhub ones if you usually order through apps. I also ordered a an extra side on Grubhub that cost $3 extra, but it was not included in my order, so that was a bit frustrating. read more

Excellent kebabs and such friendly customer service. I was craving kebabs and decided to try them out. I wanted a custom kebab platter with chicken tikka, chicken kofta and chicken chapli. It wasn't on their menu but the person behind the counter gladly accommodated my request. The food came out piping hot and I couldn't wait to eat so I sat and ate half the platter in my car. It was so good, the meat was all so tender and flavorful. The rice itself was light and fluffy and tasted great on its on. The carrots and raisins added some sweetness. The white sauce was bomb and the green and hot sauce added some extra flavor. Overall, a great experience. The owners were very friendly and inviting. I will be back many more times. read more

Looking to satisfy our overdue Afghani food cravings, me and my sister tried Flame Kabob House. Walking in the restaurant was very bright with ambient light and extremely clean. We ordered two starters and both were delicious. The extremely tasty Banjan Borani had large slices of perfect slightly firm eggplant coated with a tangy and thick tomato sauce coupled with a contrasting rich yogurt sauce. Our second appetizer was the excellent vegetable Bolani. The pastry was slightly crisp, and contained a delicious potato, scallion, and tomato filling. Onto the entrees.......... My lamb chop platter (#6 on the menu) was three well sized chops that were tender, just fat enough, and seasoned nicely. A small gripe was that I wish a bit more of a sear was on the chops. My sister's chose the Beef & Chicken Kabob platter (#8 on the menu) and was rewarded as each kabob was delicious. The beef was more notable; especially beefy tasting, perfectly seasoned, and so tender. Equally, the chicken was so tender, and the only missing element was robust flavor found in the beef kabob. Both of us agreed that the Kabuli Palau (FYI....I've noticed there is no proper spelling for this dish, as I've seen it spelled numerous ways) was one of the best versions we've eaten; cooked to a perfect texture and strong with cinnamon and clove flavor. Both the carrot strips and raisins added a delectable sweetness. Another important component were the excellent trio of sauces. The green chutney-like sauce had a pleasing level of heat coupled with a robust cilantro herbal flavor. The red sauce was the surprise of the trio; spicy with a serious hit of honey-like sweetness that I loved. Finally, the ubiquitous white sauce was superb; enjoyably thick (not watered down), a bit creamy, and properly tart......so addicting! Service was very professional and cordial too. If you are a fan of Afghani food, or just looking for a unpretentious, tasty and filling meal, Flame Kabob House is a definite destination. read more

Other customers were waiting for take out. We ordered 2 platters, a chicken and a beef. Both came with salad and bread, 3 different sauces came with the order. The chicken quarter was on the smaller side. The beef was better in portion though was a bit dry. Flavor was above average. I am a big fan of chicken gyro and that is the only thing i have tried here. I work in the City and so i have pretty much tried all the "must-try" places in and around city as well as in the New Brunswick area (since this is where i live). Having said that, Flame Kabob House did not disappoint at all. High quality & fresh food and very friendly people behind the counter. I have already ordered take out at least a few times before writing this review and was happy every time. I wish the hot sauce was slightly more hot rather than sweet/sour, but the chicken was very juicy and cooked to perfection so no complaints. So far i have interacted to three different people behind the counter and was extremely happy with their customer service. I hope more and more people in the neighborhood try their food so that we can finally get this place busier--which might be a challenge since it is kind of hidden in a huge shoppping complex that is not very active and busy. Haven't used the washroom so can't comment. But you can bet I'm driving 20 over to get home after eating all the delicious spices and onions here to avert a bathroom emergency. I have a weak digestive system and flavorful foods get me to Defcon 1 real fast. If you're reading this right before eating your lunch, well dear reader, haha on you. Food **** Beef Kofta: Oh my Holy Geebus it's so good. Tender, lightly spices and flavorful. I try to eat it slow just so it won't run out. Chicken Kabob: Not a big chicken guy but these are on point. I enjoy them with the white sauce and the chick pea side is awesome - as good as 'whole' at an Indian restaurant - perhaps better. Salads are cool and crisp and fresh. Any beefs? ********* NOPE. Minor wishes: It's very hot right now in July so perhaps it's hard but I wish they'd keep it a tad cooler inside and also, sweet brown chutney would be a welcome condiment though I know it's not common with this food. Charged an additional $2 for carrots and raising me and literally they give me a sprinkle of carrots and I struggle to find raising on my kid gyro platter combo. Nice to see yet another addition Halal Restsurant in the Easton Avenue corridor. This place is located in Rutgers Plaza (same shopping center as Stop & Shop). Plenty of parking available and there is seating for about 30 people here. Food is made fresh when you order so expect about half an hour wait. The hamburger was really good and grilled well. The Philly Cheesesteak was one of the better ones I've had in the area. The gyro sandwich is a mess to eat. It fell apart pretty easily. Had to eat it with a fork. Buyers Beware!! Customers using their debt card be aware that they will ask you to pay an extra purchasing fee or was it just me they asked to pay an extra fee of 50 cent to use my debit master card? The exact same card I use every single time I make a purchase. Nope, NO THANK yuuu!! I will take my business elsewhere I wasn't that hungry nor desperate! This is the Flame Kabob House next to the Dollar Tree. As I was shopping at the dollar tree, I asked one of the employee, have you tried out Flame Kabob? He replied yes, the food was ok and is a little expensive. So I decided to go try out their fish sandwich. As I was getting ready to pay with my debt card, the cashier asked, do you have cash? I replied, no. He then said, it will be 50 cents extra if you use your debt card. I said, nope and I use a merchant machine also for my customers. I politely walked out and took my business elsewhere. I know the game some of these businesses play. You have a monthly fee or sometime a fee to pay the merchant teller every time you have a sale. There is no way in hell you are going to charge me to use my debit while buying something from your establishment to cover your merchant cost. As a successful business owner myself; that uses merchant machines. I don't charge customers extra to use their debit or credit card to cover for my merchant cost expensive. I know the business.
