Coming from NY, I was extremely excited to try NY Gyro King. Chicken over rice is one of my favorite dishes, and after seeing it recommended on Yelp, I saved it as a must-try. Unfortunately, I left really disappointed. The plate was just bland--there wasn't much flavor, which was surprising given the name. I had pretty high expectations, and it just didn't live up to them. On a positive note, the service was nice. The cashier was friendly and even offered additional sauces free of charge, which I appreciated. However, they didn't include any pita bread with the order, which I was expecting. Another downside was the 3.5% charge for using a credit card, which felt unnecessary. Overall, I wouldn't really recommend it--not because of the service, but because the food itself lacked flavor. I probably wouldn't go back, but I'll definitely keep searching for a better chicken over rice spot. read more

Lots of parking ... gets busy on weekends and peak hours .. they also sell baklava and few other sweets ... We ordered gyros .. we also asked for extra meat . So the quantity was really good . Just thought i should let you know if you look past the counter you can see construction equipment specifically "Husky" brand drywall/taping knifes being used to cut chicken, lamb, and bread on the stove. These drywall taping knifes do not use kitchen grade steel or silicone and is lining your food with chromium and melted plastic. not that i have to say it but chromium and plastic cause cancer. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. I had the lamb gyro. It was flavorful with fresh vegetables. They don't put fries on theirs, it may have been available upon request. It delivered a tasty punch. When I think of one of the best gyros I have had at Think Grill, no longer here, I would give this one a 6.8 out of 10. Definitely recommend. read more

Wow!! I have driven past this place time & time again & today was the day I stopped. I have been on a real Gyro kick lately & have had about 1 a week from different places. I jokingly said 'Gyro King' better live up to the name.....& they did. This Gyro (lamb/beef) just put everyone to shame, including my usual "go-to." I've been adding seasoning to them to get them to where I like, but this gyro did not need ANY help. It was perfect on its own. You'll get a classic chicken over rice experience with a lot of bang for your buck, without any of the street cart greasiness or taste of being spoiled. It's not gourmet but it's a cut above your average fast food situation. The rice is fragrant and tender, the meat is quite flavorful even without the sauce. Good spot for a rice platter. Got the chicken platter with salad. Pretty good portion size for $9. The chicken was very flavorful and the rice was cooked perfect (soft & seasoned well). The veggies for the small side salad were very fresh as well. Nice and simple platter. They do a cash discount. I didn't see the totals getting ringed up but it seemed to be about 5%. The guy working behind the counter was very friendly and didn't mind when I asked for extra lettuce for my salad. Great customer service. HMS Certified It is now called Taj Grill & Gyro Main reason I came here was because of the HMS halal certification. I got a chicken and lamb platter. I customize mine for less rice and double the chicken. It was pretty good. They have plenty of sauces to choose from. They have other things on the menu. Menu is a little all over the place, but I'd stick with the classic mixed platter. Service is solid and they have decent seating inside. Ambiance is a of a quick little grab and ho with basic seating if you decide to dine in "no frills". Exactly what you would expect from a spot like this. I love gyro king have frequented many (Brooklyn, Paterson, Bloomfield) . I've been here FEW TIMES as well, thinking each time is a dud. But the quality here is completely subpar to rest, the meat is never filled like others, regardless the meat is always dry, so you don't want any. If you Uber, they never put all the veggies. Everything just tastes old, and you never get enough sauce to try to flavor it. I'll make the drive to other ones for my platter fix read more

Good portion of food. Portion is slightly larger than NJ Halal Bowls in Edison, NJ. The lamb is similar tasting to Halal Bowls. You mostly get rice and a little bit of cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and your choice of protein. White sauce tastes like most Halal places do. Dining area is not that large, and dining in is not currently allowed because of COVID-19. Prices are slightly lower than NJ Halal Bowls. NY Gyro King is acceptable for today's Halal food. Always wanted to try this place. Finally did and glad that I did. Their food is so fresh and tastes clean!! Walking in its clean and the staff are super friendly. They have a new guy in training who was super friendly and eager to learn. I got the gyro salad platter and the gyro rice platter. Everything tasted fresh and clean and homemade. White sauce was really good -- not too thick like the Halal Guys' white sauce. Hot sauce was good too.. got the not too hot sauce as my tolerance isn't quite up there yet. It was too good that I forgot to take photos because of my hunger lol This tastes a bit different than Halal Guys. Halal Guys are great too.. it's just that this one tastes more home made and I like that. The servings are great. I was able to have leftovers the next day and it still tasted great!! Horrible service today! I called in my order ahead of time. When I arrived to pickup my order, they hadn't even started my order. There were at least three or four people behind the counter no one acknowledged me as I stood there at the counter. The restaurant was empty all but one table! First I gotta say as soon as we entered it was so clean! Walked over to the counter & they welcomed us & the staff was so very pleasant & nice! Drove ye shopping center recently and noticed this place. Tried it today for lunch. So delicious. I got a chicken rice platter. The quantity was large, enough for 2 meals or a heavy one meal. The salad started fresh. The chicken was great. I saw they were making it on the grill. The pieces were clean, didn't have bites with chunks of fat which was good.
