Stopped in for a quick, fresh bite after searching for places in the area of Ridge Hill. I was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem, amongst the many strip malls in the area. Too be fair, I've had better Falafel, but honestly, the reviews of this place, service, and food, all lined up for me. Great price for the quantity. The menu is short, but there are ways to customize. I'd say I've never had such a stuffed pita sandwich - in a good way! It was a little wet, but the flavors were excellent. I needed a fork by the end, but that's a-ok. We got Turkish coffee, too, which was authentic and kept us peppy for the rest of our errands. Finally got around to picking up a falafel sandwich at the Falafel Place on Central Ave in Yonkers.  They were busy with several people in front of me and while I waited to order there were several who walked in with orders they had placed online. There were a couple of tables available to dine in. There was sanitizer when you walked in and all staff were wearing masks and gloves. Besides the Falafel sandwich I picked up a lentil soup and side pita for my husband.  What a difference between freshly made pita and the one from the supermarkets! My husband said the soup was ok. It was a bit watery but it had nice flavor. The Falafel Sandwich was very good. Made in pita bread with hummus, falafel, salad (cucumbers, etc) and tahini for $7.  The sandwich had a slight kick and I'm a spice wimp so it would be mild for most people. Have been here last year in the summer when they were giving free samples - was great then. I loved it but it's not on my way to anywhere so haven't been back since. The place has a very small menu but it's big on flavor & it's vegetarian & vegan friendly - no meat dishes. I was in the area last week so stopped by, ordered the Falafel Sandwich X4 & a side order of tzatziki - to go. The sandwiches are big. The pita is not your store bought pita. It's fluffy, not skinny. The falafels are crispy on the outside & nice and moist on the inside. Loved the green sauce on the side - nice heat. My son & I had to finish the sandwich in two sittings. I went twice this week to the Falafel Place in White Plains. I was in Yonkers and decided to give this Falafel Place a try. They're in a mall, with plentiful parking. The service was excellent and the food was just as delicious as their White Plains location. I had the 3 sides for $13.50- French fries were four stars and the perfect falafel balls and flavorful lentil/rice sides were five star. I chatted the clerk behind the counter and found out the original Falafel Place is on the Upper West Side. I'm glad I'll be able to enjoy such falafel in my NYC. I'm sure they'd be a hit in my Queens Forest Hills neighborhood, in case they're looking for additional expansion sites! read more

Last year was the first time I tried this place. This review is about my experience here & the stars are based on the business ethic not the food. This place is very clean and inviting. Its a Kosher establishment. My regular order is always a falafel sandwich with pickles & beets. The falafel itself is tasty, moist not hard, its not dry or overly crispy, but soft & well seasoned. The pita sandwich is generously stuffed with falafel balls, cucumber, tomato, tahini, with a green herb sauce on the side. Initially, I expected them to put pickled vegetables in the falafal to add layers of flavor but its not included. And a falafel without pickled veggies leaves a lot to be desired, so soon I started to request the pickles & beets in my following orders. I really enjoy the falafel here, I use to eat here twice a week, but in the past year their price for the falafal sandwich has gone from $6 to $8.50, and now they charge you 50 cents extra for beets & extra for sauce? Im not sure why their prices continue to go up; they have a good steady stream of customers, & appear to be doing well. Raising their prices so drastically definitely makes me feel uncomfortable coming here. Their ingredients aren't organic & their sandwiches are vegetarian take out meals? Considering that they are now charging nearly $10 for my falafal, a $4 increase within a year is crazy. I ordered a dozen different dishes to feed about 18 people. I did a mix of the catering portions and multiple dishes of several individual dishes. Everything was fresh and tasty and everyone was happy. So, food at Falafel Place: highly recommended. The real reason I'm writing this review, though, is because of Dimitri. I had some trouble submitting this order online (I entered the wrong date). I emailed the store when realized the error and Dimitri called me back and sorted me out right away. After the food was delivered on the correct day we found that one dish (baklava) was missing. I called Dimitri again and he offered to bring it over himself. It turns out there was a mixup, and Dimitri went out of his way to fix it himself. A glitch was thus turned into a really great service experience. This is the real authentic taste of a much loved cuisine. Recently opened in the face of COVID but I'm so glad I finally tried it. I grew up with taste and couldn't find it in Westchester until now. Small spot with great food. They have a little outdoor seating area (2 tables), I assume this is temporary for covid, but not sure. The falafels are great, very flavorful. I like the falafel sandwich, lots of flavor and I like the texture of the falafel itself, plenty of veggies on the sandwich. The hummus is fresh and always on point. I saw how crowded this restaurant was and I had to try it - glad I did. They cook the falafels fresh while you wait (which is why it was so crowded). The sandwich is HUGE - I was full for the rest of the day. The falafels tasted amazing as well as the salad, hummus and green sauce. I've ordered from Falafel Place only once but that is enough to know that I am a fan! The service, quality and quantity of food, price, ease of ordering, and parking are prompting me to give 5 stars. The young gentleman taking my order was polite from start to finish, which as unfortunate as it sounds, is usually not the case with a lot of establishments. Ordered the falafel sandwich for myself and the eggplant sandwich for mom, both $7. I wasn't certain I would be full from the sandwich but boy, was I wrong! I didn't get a good count to see how many falafels there were until I was nearly 2/3 of the way thru, but I estimate about 6 decent sized ones. Plus, the sandwich was stuffed to the brim with veggies! Green hot sauce on the side was perfect. I may have to order a pint of the hot sauce next time just for everyday use. This place is straight delicious. The ingredients are fresh, it's fairly priced, and the staff are very nice and welcoming. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I try to come here once every couple weeks and I usually default to the Falafel Sandwich. I'm happy that there exists a restaurant that doesn't price gouge, especially for the quality of food. This is very difficult for me to do, because I have been a tremendous fan of the place since it opened, encouraging them to go from being open only on weekends to opening all week. The falafels are amazing and they have always had great service, that is until now. I tried calling one day and no answer, weird. Again, today I called again to order on my way home, to save time and was also very hungry. Showed up to see what was happening. Turns out the girl at the register was NOT taking phone orders because she had too many orders already, and didn't want to take any more. SO, if you wan to get an order, you now MUST use an ordering service, such as Uber Eats, Door Dash etc. or you can go in person and wait for all the app orders to get done first. This was the best falafel I've had in a long time. A lot of restaurants serve falafels that taste like compressed dust. The falafels here were moist and flavorful. The rice with lentils was an excellent complement. They do takeout and have an outdoor seating area. We just did takeout during an essential quest amidst the pandemic.
