    Falafel platter
    Desiree F.

I like falafel and wanted to give this place a try. I ordered over the phone, the falafel platter. When I arrived I parked in the back. I am not sure if it was an actual parking lot for the store but I parked anyway. I walked in and was greeted. The server got my food and I paid about $7.70. I seen that the white sauce was put in my bag and I don't do dairy so he gave me extra tahini. When I got home I put the food away for later. At dinner I dug in and it was ok. I don't think I had enough tahini sauce because the meal was very dry. It was an ok experience.

Great new spot in town. Small menu but can't beat the platters and gyros, my favorite. Keep up the good tasting food!

Seriously the best falafel I have had.... and I have eaten ALOT of falafel. I never saw this place before so me being me I had to check it out. I walked in and the dude at the counter was cool as hell, his boy cooking with him was friendly and said what's up. I got a falafel platter with white and hot sauce. It took about 10 minutes but holy s*** was it worth the wait. A packed tinfoil circle came out (which I prefer when I'm eating street food... gives it that feel.) loaded to the top with warm fluffy pita and falafel balls squashed sown to give them that extra crunch. Covered in white and hot sauce. Under that beautiful duo was a salad and some of the best basmati rice I have had. Seasoned to perfection with curry powder. Seriously good job to this place because this is comfort food to a street guy like me. This is what we need more of. The best part about this spot ... $7.50 for a platter and a free can of soda. Yea... this is a perfect spot for a quick and cheap lunch or dinner that you won't regret afterwards. I got the baklava for dessert and what do you know... AMAZING. I hope this place does well and I can keep coming back everytime I'm back home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

It say there open at 11am and it's almost 12pm and there not open

Chicken platter is great, lots of food, cheap too ($11 and change including tax). Easily the best chicken and rice in the area

Sandwich which is the star of my meal was smaller than the palm of my hand, ordered it with baba, there was less than a teaspoon at best, lamb was dry, no vegetables hardly at all. Sandwich was falling apart by the second bite because the pita was thinner than a fingernails thickness. Soup was great as always, the pistachio baklava was superb. The he prices aren't bad but if you factor in that they're not training their cooks to assemble their signature sandwiches and platters to the standard of Mamoun's, it's a waste of money and time ordering here. When I first got the order delivered I called, no manager, said call back, next day, couldn't reach the manager, third day later, no manager and a young woman in her teens clearly not interested in my comments and getting exasperated with me on the phone, she composed herself, but honestly, my comments are spot on. I told her to tell the manager to look at the reviews on Yelp and Google, wasn't looking for a free meal to make up for the really amateur sandwich only a college student in their dorm would be proud of assembling, I simply like the fact that Mamoun's is near my house and management it clearly failing. I left my name and number, have ZERO FAITH I will be contacted back, they don't seem to care. Update: 7 days later, no manager called. These guys just do not care, way to treat a good and EX customer. #fail

Operating out of a tiny, fast-moving storefront, Mamoun's is a legendary staple of Village food culture, known for serving affordable Middle Eastern classics late into the night. Using their exact menu terminology, here is how the food breaks down: Shawarma Sandwich: Thinly sliced 100% lamb cooked slowly on a vertical spit with signature spices, stuffed into a warm pita pocket with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and smooth tahineh sauce. The Manhattan: One of their loaded signature sandwiches featuring deep-fried falafel, creamy hummus, smoky baba ganouj, and fresh tabbouleh, all packed into a pita with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, pickled turnips, olives, and tahineh. Famous Hot Sauce: Made in-house from imported hot pepper spices, this signature crimson sauce is famously potent--just a few drops add a massive kick of heat to any sandwich or plate. Lines often stretch down MacDougal, but the team works with speed to get sandwiches out in seconds. A timeless NYC destination for quick, authentic Middle Eastern food.

That's my only gripe though...the food is fresh and the service is good. Stopped in 40 minutes before close and they seemed to be wrapping up for the night. Sadly, they meant it would be a 15 minute wait for the chicken kabob. Opted for the chicken shawarma which was well cooked and quite tasty. The chicken was piled high on a bed of lettuce and I had cucumber sauce on top. You get two sides with the platter and there's some unique options to compliment your typical choices. The avocado hummus is a nice consistency and a good balance for the shawarma. I really wanted pickles, but likely wouldn't order them as an entire side.
