Absolutely brilliant. Two words to describe what has easily become my newest favorite traditional middle eastern restaurant. I originally found this place on Uber eats as I was craving a little something more than just some takeout. Little did I know this would be the biggest gem I could've imagined finding! Alkofeia is a Palestinian operated restaurant (with one Jordanian) in the heart of Bayonne. As it's the middle of Ramadan I decided to go there in person and order myself a very traditional dish called Mansef. The staff were extremely busy and yet they gave me their full attention. It was just past the time to break fast, and they offered me some fresh Arabic coffee and dates to break my fast. As for the location itself, the seating is a bit packed but they will accommodate bigger parties with advanced notice. Also, the aura and atmosphere really takes you away from the city and suddenly you feel as though you are back in the street markets of Palestine with all kinds of art and patriotic memorabilia. I was in the neighborhood waiting for someone. I was in the mood for a really good lentil soup.. boy that this place deliver I think it's one of the best lentil soups I've ever had Smooth decadent. It also came with some chips on the side if you crumble them up really good and throw it in there it gives you a little crunch factor. Service was amazing. People are very nice and helpful. I also had this appetizer all. I know it had Bulgar wheat with ground beef in a fried dough bowl delicious. Also very important. Make sure you ask for the hot sauce for the soup. You won't regret it. First time ordering from here. I really like their online website, makes ordering super easy. And I like how you can get delivery through them rather than going through a third party app. There are coupons on the website too for pickup and delivery. We were able to get 15% off. Our food was delivered a half hour later but the delivery person was very nice and found our apartment quickly and dropped the food off at the door which was great. We tried the snapper and vegan platter ($30). The snapper was huge ($30)! Enough to share with another person. Was on a huge tray of rice. The flavor was good but part of the fish was overcooked and dry and tasted a little fishy. The rice was excellent. I enjoyed the vegan platter, the cauliflower was standout. I also liked the falafel, which had a good consistency, flavor and wasn't too dry. Their garlic sauce is good too, and we ordered extra. Our friend's chicken and meat shawarma platters looked really good (~$17 each). They also got the mint lemonade ($7) which they say is really good. It looked super green and healthy, and like a slushie. They make the pita there and the pita was warm still and had a flavor! Didn't taste just bland and doughy. It tasted a bit buttery and kind of like pizza dough. Only $1 extra for pita and they gave us a bunch. This place definitely gives big portions for a good price. Al Kofeia always has amazing, fresh food, great service and is consistent since it's been open. Everything on their menu is delicious but my favorites are lentil soup, salads, laffa sandwiches and platters. Their traditional dishes also look very good if you're with a group of people. Alkofeia is a gem that just won't be hidden for too long! Tucked away in Bayonne, this place is incredible. Upon arrival, you'll notice that the restaurant is more on the casual side. While a bit small, there was more than enough seating on a weekday evening. Their menu is extensive and I decided to go with the chicken kebab as my first experience here. They served the kebab with salad, baba ganoush, hummus, roasted veggies, and rice. The portion for the price was huge!! They also gave us complimentary homemade pita, olive oil, and olives and an app. When I tell you everything was delicious, I am not kidding. This is the type of food that you dream about weeks later. We had the most amazing meal at this little restaurant. We tried the kebabs, lamb ouzi and arayes and the best mint tea. Absolutely mouth watering, fall off the bone and delicious lamb shanks in the ouzi. Dare I say it's better than Al Basha? I came here with three others for lunch. It was my first time trying Omani food. We ordered the falafel platter with a side of fries and the mansef platter. The food was slow to come out, but we were expecting that since they had a sign on the wall saying to the effect of we are not fast food, please be patient for your order. The food was delicious. Stopped in on a rainy sunday and was so happy we did. The food is absolutely fantastic. At first we thought $15 for a schawarma sandwich was nyc prices but when the huge plate of food came we were so surprised. two people could easily share one shawarma sandwich . My brother got the falafel sandwich which was equally generous portions and split it with his girlfriend and they barely ate half of their food. We also shared the Al kofeia Mazzah which is a platter of salads. everything was outstandingly delicious. The babaganoush was smokey yumi eggplant goodness and all other salads were scrumptious. We also tried the fried halloumi aka fried cheese so good and could easily share it with 4 or more people for an appetizer. Highly highly recommend this place. I took a menu and will definitely be back again soon. Don't sleep on Alkofeia restaurant. Their food is so incredibly flavorful and fresh. Seasoned to perfection- all their meats are incredible (I personally love the lamb).
