Hands down one of the best shawarma spots in jersey city. It's cheap, it's flavorful and it's fast! They are super kind and have great hours. The chicken is flavorful and the white sauce is the correct level of garlicky. read more

the food is great i really like the mixed platter and the customer service is great with good pricing

All I can say is nothing in the area can compete with the quality, quantity, or price tbh. The service is great which makes the food that much more enjoyable!! If u havnt tried it then u better!!!!!! I promise u WONT REGRET IT!!! P.S. (addiction to the amazing food is not guaranteed lol) read more

Food was very fresh and tasted good with the white sauce and shwarma sauce (basically white sauce with garlic). Green sauce was a bit watery as was hot sauce but hot sauce still packed a decent punch. Would definitely go again read more

Quality Chicken and rice platter (and mixed platter). It's a little cart in a BP parking lot and they seem to be busy even on odd hours so must be good. But DO NOT order through Yelp/Grubhub... they literally have no computer/credit card machine... nothing in the little cart. We placed an order for pick up through the app and when we got there they looked at us like we had three heads. We called Grubhub and got our money back so it's fine but just be warned. Also they don't take card so bring cash! The craving was met tho without having to go into the city. read more

I always see this cart so I decided to give it a shot! Overall the service was great, he put extra white sauce like I asked (thank you sir I love that sauce) and put just the right amount of hot sauce. You also can't beat the price, only about $7.50 for a platter and you get sooo much food. We did come a little later in the day so some of the rice was hard and old. So I would suggest going earlier in the day when they're a little busier so the rice isn't sitting there for a while. read more

Westside Shawarma - Mix Platter - Food Trucks Near Me - Jersey City, New Jersey

This truck is located in a BP gas station. If you are looking for somewhere to sit down and enjoy your meal, walk a block down, past the animal hospital to the big park. There are benches and better air quality there. Regardless, the meats are delicious. I'm a fan of lamb gyros. Since Halal Guys switched their lamb to beef, it's a treat to find a food truck that serves lamb over rice in NJ. Their hot sauce is not too hot and the white sauce is delicious. $7 for the chicken and lamb over rice combo or the lamb over rice combo. The orders both come with a can of soda each. Their food portions are generous. I could only finish half of my meal. read more

Was craving some shawarma late at night and my friend told me to try this place out. I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and a mixed platter. The sandwich was overfilled and very messy. However I didn't like the chicken at all. Had this weird taste like it wasn't cleaned correctly. The mixed platter was good but I only liked the lamb side. The lamb was very crispy and taste with the rice and salad. I've had wayyyy better halal cart food than this but it didn't completely disappoint read more

Westside Shawarma - Chicken Platter - Food Trucks Near Me - Jersey City, New Jersey

Chicken platter here is $7. And it didn't come with any soda. Kind of expensive, if you ask me. But this cart has these red color chicken which I used to be a fan of but now I'm over it. I don't know what spice gives it this color but the flavor is beginning to get too intense for me. It's kinda like how Spanish food uses annatto seeds to make their rice orange. Too much of it gives it a strange flavor. But for $7, I would like a soda included. So I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

The mixed kebab was amazing. I'm glad I got stuck waiting in my vet's parking lot for two hours--it gave me time to find this spot. I would definitely get it again any time I'm in the area. read more

Good food. Guy was nice enough to make a quickly for me since I was parked oddly. Wish it were a little warmer than it was but that was probably due to my parking situation. Drinks were this off brand so I had to go elsewhere but besides that the food was good. read more

Don't sleep on this place. This is some of the best halal "platters" I've gotten outside of NYC. The area is a little sketchy, but the food is awesome. Expect a line if you go there after 11pm. $7 gets you a whole platter of Salad, Rice, Chicken and/or Lamb, and a soda. You can't beat that! Get a lot of white sauce and a little hot sauce. read more

We always enjoy their food. Lots of meat and tastes good. Love their white and hot sauce. Took one star off for the oily rice and color added in chicken. Wish they didn't do that. read more

Meat in the morning, Meat in the evening, Meat at supper time, at Westside Shawarma, you can have meat at any time! Ha. Punny. All joking aside, I dig this place a lot. It may look super shades as it is located at the back of a BP lot but, um, can I just tell you I ordered a lamb shawarma from this place that had massive amounts of delicious meat on it for like 6 bucks! There's a reason the lot is always full of people picking this deliciousness up and that's because the shit is bangin'! I stick to the shawarmas. My boyfriend usually gets the rice dishes with the slabs of meat and white sauce on top. I have yet to see this truck be closed so I have no idea what their hours are but what a great way to wrap up a night of dranks, ya know? Yum. If you're not into trucks or standing in a sketchy parking lot for your food, go elsewhere and miss out. Me? I'll be chilling along with the people bumping ridiculously loud music from their super low honda civics waiting for some shhaawwwarrrmma. Cash only. Be prepared to be mega thirsty the morning after. Drink that water! read more

I love lamb gyros but whenever I eat it, it's always salty and never taste good. That is until I ordered here through Uber eats. Omggggg. It's so good, with just the right amount of flavor. I actually called them to thank them for making it so good lol. That's when I found out it was a food truck. So darn good. read more

The food here is really good and tastes very fresh. The chicken was bursting with flavor, and I honestly thought it was similar to the popular chain Halal guys, if not better in my opinion. I highly recommend this place! read more

Delicious! How have I not been here before. I'm glad I found it. Better late than never! This place is better than the Halal guys in Manhattan. Don't take my word for it! Go try for yourself! read more

I have to admit, I was a bit apprehensive about ordering after seeing some of the not so good reviews here but I'm so glad I decided to follow through. I got the mixed platter (late night type thing) and it's some of the absolute best halal food I've had in the area. I can't wait to order again! read more

I can't believe they even have a food truck that sells Lamb and chicken with rice. I thought usually the only place to get a really good plate was to take the "long but totally worth it" drive to NYC. Surprised this food truck was opened so late especially in New Jersey, I came here after midnight. Happy I was introduced to this secret " out of no where " food truck. Don't be alarmed, it is located literally near a gas station, like in the parking lot. I thought it was sketchy at first, but the food isn't!! read more

It is "NOT HALAL". This place doesn't not follow covid protocols. The guy was sneezing and didn't even have a mask. The food smells like cigarettes. Also I reported this place for false claims. They claim they are halal but are not. When I asked they were quiet and hesitant and lied. If it's halal you say it's halal why have to think about it. I asked for a halal certificate and they didn't have one "saying oh the government didn't give it yet". Which is a lie, you have been there for years and government didn't give you a certificate. Stop thr crap. So please be aware this is haram a sin I can't eat this. And I have already reported a file against this gyro cart with the NJ Consumer Affairs. read more

Ever since the halal truck by me at Pershing field disappeared this has been the go to spot for me for some lamb/rice over chicken, and gyros. Located right on communipaw at the bp gas, you'd be surprised but the food here is amazing! Not only that but the service is quick, and portions are friendly! My type of fast food halal lol...especially that i work near by, this is a perfect order and go meal for me! Must try if in mood for some good food cart halal read more

Westside Shawarma - Food Trucks Near Me - Jersey City, New Jersey

I ordered the lamb over rice with my girlfriend and it was delivered 5 minutes later than listed. However, it was some of the best cart food that I've ever eaten. The lamb was tender, juicy, and seasoned beautifully. The hot sauce was actually spicy, and the accompanying tomatoes/lettuce were fresh and tasty. One platter was enough for two people, which is a fantastic bargain given the already affordable price. I can't wait to order from Westside again! read more

Food was burnt. I asked for more white sauce then hot sauce and the guy put more hot sauce and my wife wasn't able to eat the whole gyro roll. The whole entire time her lips were burning and there was a point where she started to feel sick because of the food. Overall the food had no flavor whatsoever. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Okay so this is my second time ordering from this place and I found a fucking glove in my food. Like I deadass almost choked on it thinking it was a piece of Lettuce and my heart dropped fast as hell when I realized it wasn't, I'm like "oh no this karma from when I made fun of that girl that went viral for finding a condom in her McChicken" but thank god FOR THEM that it wasn't. But still like that shit was nasty as hell, I almost threw tf up seriously, I'm on my way over there right now to get my fucking money back they really got me fucked up !! read more

Tiny little food truck parked in a gas station cooking some of the best lamb over rice my wife and I have ever eaten. Got 2 lamb and chicken over rice with extra hot sauce on the side. Best decision we made. Take care though, that hot sauce is not for the weak of heart, it blew us away, with both the flavor and the heat (FYI we are both used to extremely spicy food). read more

Going on a stress induced Yelp review tear. This gas station street meat is great. Don't be fooled. I had the Lamb & Chicken with rice combo. I love the hot sauce. A deeper menu than the other guys around read more

My go to spot for quick grub to eat and for cheap. Really awesome food and flavors. Nothing beats the price.

This is the best food in Jersey City. Whether you like Spanish, Arabic, Italian etc. The food is awesome and fresh even if it's from a truck . I've ordered other Arabic food from restaurants and the food quality is very low whether it's the amount or the quality. So if you're not in Paterson where all the Middle Eastern restaurants are this is the place to go! And the price is seven dollars for a very full filling meal read more

Found these guys on Uber eats, had no idea it was a food truck until I made 5 orders in one month cause the food is great. I drove around with the address from yelp for like an hour and I finally found it. It's at the Exxon gas station at the corner of west side and communipaw ave. You can thank me later for the directions. This place has a line anytime I go. I've eaten at the finest restaurants all over the world and I have friends that are award winning chefs (no lie). This isn't fancy food but it's really good stuff and they're open late. read more

I've noticed that more and more halal carts have popped up in this particular corner the last few years, serving up chicken/lamb/whatever else over rice in the style of the famous Halal Guys in 53rd st. Some aren't very good, but others are pretty fantastic. West Side Shawarma is one of those fantastic hidden gems. I usually get the lamb here, extra hot and white sauces. Chicken's pretty good too. Don't get the salad, any self respecting New Yorker knows it just gets in the way of things. Always served with a can of New Jersey's best--C&C cola. Great if you're cash strapped like me and want some good cheap grub right around the corner. And since it's at the gas station, you can fill up your car while you wait! read more

The best halal food in Jersey City. I recommend the lamb gyro or lamb with rice. Chicken is good but the lamb is the reason I have come back. Get the white sauce is great. Amazing prices. read more

Ordered on Uber eats. The pic of their shawarma sandwich looked great. My expectations of the food was set high between yelp reviews and uber photo. When the delivery guy came i was excited to try some new place. As he called tp notify me he had arrived, he didnt understand 14th floor. He kept asking 13 floor, i had to count from 10-14 and said 1 4 (14), 12, 13, 14, 14th floor. To top it off, as hungry as i was, i opened the bag to find the hot sauce container opened and all over the place. I opened the container and it was drenched in white sauce (all 3 dishes). The dish was massive filled with mostly rice. The quality of meat was about par for a poor lonley random food cart on a dark street, top it off it came with extra white sauce as if it needed more. This place is not Ibby's (jersey city or 54th st/6th ave). I'd rate this no stars read more
