The ambiance is very pleasing and it is also an ideal spot for a date night. Chicken Satay: The grilled chicken skewers came with a cup of peanut dipping sauce. I had a gut instinct that I was going to g to enjoy peanut butter flavored sauce with the chicken because I previously explored a similar chicken entrée at another restaurant. The chicken was tender and juicy. Although I really enjoyed this plate, I would have preferred to have it without the skewers because I don't feel they are necessary. Pineapple Fried Rice: This rice plate was so fulfilling it practically ate like a meal. It included nuts, mixed vegetables, and mini tofu squares. Stopped in for a late weekday lunch. Nicely decorated, soothing music and polite staff. Had four lunch specials and an appetizer of fried calamari. The specials $14.99 incl an app - veg spring roll, coriander soup or a nice papaya salad. Then four cans of soda and four entrees - pad thai; singanore noodles; drunken noodles and basil noodles. All were great, some a little more spicy than we requested, but we had plenty to eat and they were good. Left with twi take out trays full of the four entrees for linch the next day. The presentation of the entrees is really well done and impressive. They do their best to accomodate for food allergies and have really attentive service. My sister's boyfriend eats halal which is what brought our family to explore this restaurant. The atmosphere is super chill, with smooth jazz playing at the perfect volume. I ended up having an allergic reaction to my entree, so I skipped dessert. Everyone expressed that the dessert left much to the imagination and tasted "regular". Overall, the kind and attentive service, along with the large portions and affordable pricing, made for a great family dinner outing. P.S. As one of the only halal Thai spots in the area, I guess you gotta take what you can get but NO, just take the L on eating some meat and go somewhere that provides authentic flavors even if you have to eat vegetarian. "Pad Thai" tasted like it was flavored with ketchup, most other dishes like the Garlic Chili Chicken taste like they're "Chinese" (in quotes because of the generic flavors those of us - me included I'll admit many times - as Chinese) or bafflingly Italian (looking at you "Drunken Noodles"). Ok so there are a few good items here and there. Thai Beef Steak is tender and juicy. The presentation for Pineapple Fried Rice is cool because it comes in half a pineapple carved out. Been to the east brunswick location a few times and enjoyed it. First time at Somerset location. Ordered the red curry, curry beef and fried rice. Fried rice was good. Curry beef was great and red curry was flavorful but the chicken in it was gross. I've never felt this way about their food before. Overall food was decent but utensils looked quite overused. I also got a Thai Iced Tea which was so delicious! If you're looking for an appetizer, the Roti Canai is my favorite (I think the curry has peanuts in it, so watch out if you have any allergies). Food ordered, tom yum soup, panang beef curry, spicy tamarind chicken, spicy chili lamb, calamari, chicken satay , spicy Thai chicken wings, sweet and spicy shrimp noodles; thai iced tea to wash it all down. Yep on vacation mode with my family. Portions were generous and price was affordable. What did we liked the best ? Everything! If I had to be picky it would be the lamb over the beef dish. The lamb was obviously more tender but the beef was not lacking flavor either. Calamari was a bit hard as it became colder. The sauce for all dishes had deep intense flavor and not overly drowning. We decided to try N Thai today for delivery and we ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and Shrimp Pad See Ew. I'm a huge fan of pad see ew and while this dish was good it definitely wasn't my favorite of our local restaurants. I'll say the noodles were decently fresh but not as springy as it could have been. Also, the pad see ew was definitely very salty for me. I like my pad see ew a bit less salty and a touch sweeter. The dish came with six decently sized shrimp. My husband like his chicken pad Thai and I will say that the portion size in comparison to my pad see ew was quite large/generous. He said he enjoyed it and is comparable to other local Thai restaurants we have tried. I would probably order here again but if I have my choice in eating in at another restaurant, I probably would. There were also no other people eating when I went so not sure how popular the place is but it killed the vibe a little bit. If you haven't tried this place yet, my advice would be to go and ask for Raja. Raja takes good care of you and makes you feel welcome. When lunch finally reached our big group it was spicy & yummy & presented beautifully but the wait was brutal. On a Tuesday with the restaurant maybe 1/3 full we waited 30 minutes for cans of soda and 45 minutes for spring rolls & soups. Then the food eventually appeared after 55 minutes but the food runners didn't have any idea which end of the table should get the pad thais, the curries nor the stir frys. Our waitress returned to argue a bit with us about who ordered what. Bring patience you're gonna need it. Further disappointment, we had to remind them to bring rice for the curries and stir frys, plus the Pad Thai and Singapore-style noodle dishes arrived with fat yellow wheat noodles instead of thin white rice noodles. This location is a bit congested, so if you have to make the left off of JFK to get into this place go when the traffic is a little on the light side. The service was very good here, the owner was seating people and all three servers who were there helped me at some point. Even on a Sunday night, it was pretty crowded, which brings me to another point... The other Thai place in the area that I love is closed Sundays, so if you want good Thai food Sunday this is one of your two options. While the food was good, it was not as spicy as I like. Since this was my first time trying the place I won't hold it against them though, but do know it may take one or two visits before you figure out the level of spice you want. Although I wish the food was a little spicier it was still very good an the presentation was A+ material. They really went above and beyond to not only make the dish taste good but to also make it look good. I ordered from N Thai Palace in Somerset today. I ordered the Drunken Noodles and the Black Pepper Shrimp. Let's start with the Drunken Noodles...this was not what I expected as I have had Drunken Noodles (aka Pad Kee Mow). I've had this dish plenty of times at other restaurants and never have I had this in a tomato herb-y sauce. This was terrible. I had chicken and shrimp. The noodles and shrimp were over cooked and mushy. Not sure how you can get this dish wrong. I also ordered the black pepper shrimp. Not one ounce of black pepper. I thought they got the order wrong and added the pepper to the noodles, but nope it's dried herbs that looks like black pepper flakes. Needless to say, I won't be back. Tried this place the other day as it was really close. Went in just to pick up and realized It's a really nice sit down restaurant. We ordered pad Thai, massamman curry, chicken satay, and fried ice cream. The satay wasn't impressive. The chicken wasn't well seasoned and the peanut sauce seemed to be really thin. The sauce is really supposed to be the star here and I was let down. The pad Thai was ok, not one of the best I've had, lacked flavor in my opinion. The stars here were the curry and the fried ice cream. The curry is super flavorful, I got medium but you can really taste the heat and it was sooo good! One suggestion is to add more veggies/meat. Mostly this was just the curry gravy itself, we had maybe a few peppers and some potatoes. I've had curries in the past that really focus on veggies. The flavor was amazing though. Def would love this on a cold rainy day. The fried ice cream was a hit as well, it's one of my favorite desserts so had to try it here!
