    Rice with raisins and carrots

Looking for a place for lunch on Christmas Day that wasn't Chinese. This came recommended. Started with bolani which is stuffed bread. It was very lightly stuffed - mostly hollow and a little greasy. A cucumber salad for the table was a bit bland Chicken qorma which was little pieces of bony chicken in a tomato type sauce Afghan kabuli rice with raisins and carrots - also pretty bland. Tried it. Not my cup of tea

I drive by this shop all the time but never got around to trying it until recently. The people working and interacting with customers were very kind and willing to talk about things if you ask them anything. As for the food, I am not sure if it's how Afghan flavor is but I felt comfortable eating here. It wasn't aggressive with seasoning nor was it under seasoned or undercooked. It was just pleasant. When the dishes arrived at our table, it seemed like the proportions were small in appearance but by the end of it, I was full and satisfied with the proportions. Even took a bit of the leftovers home and it was nice to have the next day. I would really like to come here again. They have some raised almost sofa cushion seating in one corner of the restaurant. Maybe when I'm trying to relax with friends I can bring them there to chat. It sounds like it could be nice to try

I've never had food and qahwa this good before--absolutely outstanding! The flavors were authentic, rich, and truly unforgettable. Every bite felt like a taste of real Afghan cuisine. Not only was the food delicious, but the presentation and service were top-notch as well. And the qahwa... simply amazing! Easily the best I've ever had. This place is definitely worth visiting again and again. Highly recommended!

Delicious food at a great price. I ordered two wraps to-go but decided to sit in their outdoor seating. The owner is so kind and welcoming.

Good service good food, must try. We ordered khorasan combo and chapli kabab. Both were really good , well marinated. Also they don't serve the banned drinks , Salam cola also got served tental and barley soup and Afghani bread , overall great experience.

It was my first time to eat Afghan food. Everything we had was a flavor bomb. The aroma of meats was great! Bolani, the flatbread reminded me of Chinese scallion pancakes. If you like ethnic spice flavor, you will enjoy it here.

Friday night is an adventure night. What do food lovers do?--search for something new to eat. Enroute to pick up my son in Ewing township in NJ, we passed by Route 27 and looking for food to satisfy our hunger, we passed by a place that says "Authentic Afghan Cuisine". Hmmm, never tried it so u-turn we go and parked behind the place. Pleasant people greeted us and a clean place too. There was a "stage-like" area with pillows and carpet and table. I guess that's how traditional Afghan dining room looks like. We didn't sit in that but instead had a regular marble table with comfy white chairs. Server came and welcomed us and menu was given. Their menu is in their native tongue but a detailed explanation written in English is written under each choices. Not a lot but presented well and organized. Lentil soup was then served and an array of sauce with specific instruction that the "red" one is spicy and gave us a warning to go easy with it. The white sauce which I believed is made of yogurt was creamy and tasty and their green sauce is a delight as well. We ordered hummus that was served with their warm nan ( it was bread, not sure if it was called nan), then for our meal, hubby chose Kandahar Special and I ordered their Chicken Kofta. Meals were delivered warm and it was pretty quick. Served with rice and salad--we were happy people in the end. Price is good, food is tasty, not lacking flavor, ambiance is great, their cutleries were gold and they had marble tables...in all honesty--I was surprised trying this cuisine and happy! We'll be back soon perhaps bring our boys with us so we can try sitting on those pillows!

Array of sauces. Spicy one was yummmmmmy!

Delicious! One of my best friends is Afghan. I missed her mom's Borani Banjan and I was so happy to see it on the menu. Just as delicious as I remember it. I have dined in and also have done take out. Both experiences were awesome. Staff is friendly and so accommodating. Very pleasant experience. Will be in regular rotation for my household.

The Turkish Mediterranean cuisine lived up to the hype. I ordered the lebni, chicken and lamb shish kebab with rice and salad, and tried the red sauce with bread, all of which were outstanding. The dishes struck the perfect balance: satisfying and filling without being heavy or leaving you uncomfortably full. The service matched the quality of the food. They also give you a side of "mommy's sauce," and omg... it was soooo good mixed with the hummus. It's a secret family recipe made by the owner herself, which makes it even better! For the entrée, we ordered the mixed grill platter. My favorite meats were the gyro slices and the beef cubes. The beef cubes were perfectly seasoned--seriously next level. The rice underneath all the meat was also excellent and packed with flavor. Will definitely be back!!

It came with three little sauces which could have punched a bit more flavor, but was delicious nonetheless. The falafel came with a small side salad and plentiful rice. The rice was perfectly cooked and delicious. The fried cheese was seasoned perfectly, and packed with flavor. The fries were crisp deliciousness. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. I know things changed since the previous owner (older Greek man) no longer owned it. He used to stop by the tables and chat with customers and we noticed that the portions had become smaller. This time we came for lunch on a Sunday. Place was kind of empty, with the exception of 2 large tables. We ordered Saganaki and were informed by waitress that they no longer flambéd it table side. We still ordered and it was good although not melted like we remembered. Husband only ordered the lemon soup, which he said was good. My daughter and I both ordered beef and lamb gyros, I ordered it with Greek fries (with the Greek cheese over them) and my daughter ordered hers with lemon potatoes. Both gyros came dry, in hard shaved pieces and I barely ate my fries as they were worse than fast food fries and not the traditional Greek cheese over them. The tzatziki was good, however, my daughter's had a hair in it. The worse part was that when we brought it to the waitresses attention, she was not apologetic or surprised. She just said she would bring a new one. This was unacceptable. To make matters worse, I went to their store next door to get the cheese I could fry at home and their custard dessert; they had neither. What a disappointment to the entire experience. Won't be returning if ever in the area.

It's a tiny, charming Greek spot tucked into Highland Park downtown, with parking so limited you basically need divine intervention... or street parking. Inside, it's cute and very Greek-coded. Vegetarian options? Let's just say... blink and you've seen them all. The hummus platter held its ground, but the Halloumi? I swear it was so rubbery I could hear it squeaking back at me. It felt like chewing a flip-flop in surround sound. Dinner came with exactly three vegetarian choices, all of which looked more like an appetizer sampler trying to pass as a meal. Thankfully, I had great company and a teammate who generously brought wine, which definitely upgraded the experience. Would I return? Personally, no. If you're vegetarian and planning to eat anything beyond hummus, salad, or bread, this place might test your patience. But credit where it's due... their orange cake was delicious and dangerously sweet.
