    Rice with raisins and carrots

Looking for a place for lunch on Christmas Day that wasn't Chinese. This came recommended. Started with bolani which is stuffed bread. It was very lightly stuffed - mostly hollow and a little greasy. A cucumber salad for the table was a bit bland Chicken qorma which was little pieces of bony chicken in a tomato type sauce Afghan kabuli rice with raisins and carrots - also pretty bland. Tried it. Not my cup of tea

I drive by this shop all the time but never got around to trying it until recently. The people working and interacting with customers were very kind and willing to talk about things if you ask them anything. As for the food, I am not sure if it's how Afghan flavor is but I felt comfortable eating here. It wasn't aggressive with seasoning nor was it under seasoned or undercooked. It was just pleasant. When the dishes arrived at our table, it seemed like the proportions were small in appearance but by the end of it, I was full and satisfied with the proportions. Even took a bit of the leftovers home and it was nice to have the next day. I would really like to come here again. They have some raised almost sofa cushion seating in one corner of the restaurant. Maybe when I'm trying to relax with friends I can bring them there to chat. It sounds like it could be nice to try

I've never had food and qahwa this good before--absolutely outstanding! The flavors were authentic, rich, and truly unforgettable. Every bite felt like a taste of real Afghan cuisine. Not only was the food delicious, but the presentation and service were top-notch as well. And the qahwa... simply amazing! Easily the best I've ever had. This place is definitely worth visiting again and again. Highly recommended!

Delicious food at a great price. I ordered two wraps to-go but decided to sit in their outdoor seating. The owner is so kind and welcoming.

Friday night is an adventure night. What do food lovers do?--search for something new to eat. Enroute to pick up my son in Ewing township in NJ, we passed by Route 27 and looking for food to satisfy our hunger, we passed by a place that says "Authentic Afghan Cuisine". Hmmm, never tried it so u-turn we go and parked behind the place. Pleasant people greeted us and a clean place too. There was a "stage-like" area with pillows and carpet and table. I guess that's how traditional Afghan dining room looks like. We didn't sit in that but instead had a regular marble table with comfy white chairs. Server came and welcomed us and menu was given. Their menu is in their native tongue but a detailed explanation written in English is written under each choices. Not a lot but presented well and organized. Lentil soup was then served and an array of sauce with specific instruction that the "red" one is spicy and gave us a warning to go easy with it. The white sauce which I believed is made of yogurt was creamy and tasty and their green sauce is a delight as well. We ordered hummus that was served with their warm nan ( it was bread, not sure if it was called nan), then for our meal, hubby chose Kandahar Special and I ordered their Chicken Kofta. Meals were delivered warm and it was pretty quick. Served with rice and salad--we were happy people in the end. Price is good, food is tasty, not lacking flavor, ambiance is great, their cutleries were gold and they had marble tables...in all honesty--I was surprised trying this cuisine and happy! We'll be back soon perhaps bring our boys with us so we can try sitting on those pillows!

It was my first time to eat Afghan food. Everything we had was a flavor bomb. The aroma of meats was great! Bolani, the flatbread reminded me of Chinese scallion pancakes. If you like ethnic spice flavor, you will enjoy it here.

Array of sauces. Spicy one was yummmmmmy!

Over the years I have heard nothing but good from friends -- "Excellent" "Exactly like they make it in Florence!" "Best Italian food I've ever tasted." I went with a party of four. For appetizers we split the Polpo E Patate (grilled octopus & potatoes) and Patate Fritte (French fries). The octopus was amazing, tender almost like perfect scallops with a tasty pesto. The French fries with herbs, garlic bread crumbs and pesto were crunchy, tasty, delicious. For mains my companions had Branzino with eggplant carponata, an amazing 4-cheese Gnocchi, and swordfish. I tasted all, and all were spot on; everyone loved their main course. I had Linguini Vongole (clams and linguini); the clams were perfect - tender and tasty; but the star of the show was the homemade linguine, seasoned perfectly and cooked to al dente perfection. We finished with cappuccino and Tiramasu. The service was excellent. Attentive and quick, and our waitress, Merin, was able to answer every question about the menu with authority, and even about the ingredients and preparation. The ambiance is understated, relaxed, and what you hope for when enjoying a special meal. I am quite stingy in passing out 5-Star ratings; I reserve them for the best of the best, for restaurants where I'm confident readers will also enjoy an outstanding meal. Mangia Toscano is clearly 5-Star; it is *the* must-do restaurant in Metuchen.

Came back for my son's birthday because he wanted his breakfast/brunch to be Liam's Fav pancakes…read morewhich have become one of his fave pancakes, too! 3 fluffy Oreo pancakes with cream cheese glaze and Nutella mousse. He also really enjoyed the seasonal Berry Cloud Fizz beverage. I ordered the chicken scoop that was absolutely delicious. 2 Crispy chicken breasts topped with yummy bacon jam all on top of a delicious Belgium waffle drizzled with maple mustard syrup. It was not drenched in syrup which was great, the perfect amount of sweet and salty. For our appetizers we ordered the cauli tempura with the sauce in the side as our server Mericis suggested after my concern over the spice level; and I'm glad she mentioned it because one dip into the sauce and it was not for me. She joyfully suggested other sauces (garlic mayo, aji verde & chimichurri) that were delicious but the garlic mayo was my fave. We also got the nori roll which is one of our fave apps here. The sauce drizzled on top really takes it to the next level. For drinks I ordered the seasonal dulce plantain pudding latte -- yum! Loved every bit of it, especially that it wasn't overly sweet. Our server, Mericis was great. Always attentive, patient as I tried to figure out what I wanted to try next after coming for my 3rd time, and overall great vibes. She made our experience an amazing one on top of the delicious food and drinks we had. Will definitely return! Also love they have printed menus now!

We also had a single glass of OJ and a fancy mango drink of some kind (I didn't drink that one lol). Food was tasty, service was fine. The reason for the low stars is because the hostess came to our table to tell us "there's a 90 minute table limit" and then asked us to leave. Brunch cost us $60 and we left a 22% tip. This was 11:30 am, PLENTY of tables open, NO ONE waiting for a table. If you're catching up with friends, NOT the place to go.
