Tried the Khorasan combo and it exceeded my expectation. The portion size was huge and everything was cooked really well. The chicken had great char and was very juicy, the kofta kebab was flavorful, and the lamb was tender. I ordered it to go and their service was super fast. They have delightful ambiance with plenty of seating inside and even traditional Afghan seating in the front. Everything was served over their qabuli rice with a few sauces and a fresh cucumber salad on the side. The green sauce especially added a nice kick. Looking for a place for lunch on Christmas Day that wasn't Chinese. This came recommended. Started with bolani which is stuffed bread. It was very lightly stuffed - mostly hollow and a little greasy. I drive by this shop all the time but never got around to trying it until recently. The people working and interacting with customers were very kind and willing to talk about things if you ask them anything. As for the food, I am not sure if it's how Afghan flavor is but I felt comfortable eating here. It wasn't aggressive with seasoning nor was it under seasoned or undercooked. It was just pleasant. When the dishes arrived at our table, it seemed like the proportions were small in appearance but by the end of it, I was full and satisfied with the proportions. Even took a bit of the leftovers home and it was nice to have the next day. I would really like to come here again. They have some raised almost sofa cushion seating in one corner of the restaurant. Placed an order through DoorDash, but it was canceled before it was delivered. I called the restaurant, and they still charged me even though I never received the order. They refused to issue a refund, so I've disputed the charge with my credit card company. I have the receipt clearly showing the order was canceled, so they can sort it out from here. read more

I really have been patient with this place because the folks are kind and the food is good but I've hit a limit. First time I ever ordered, I ordered through their website for delivery. It arrived over an hour later. It seemed the third party delivery service they used moved too slow. I don't know. I passed it off because they seemed genuine and food was good. Second time I went in person to pick up. I think I met the owner or manager who recognized my name because of the delivery order issue the first time around. He was friendly. Asked for feedback on how to improve. Honestly that conversation is why I'm not giving a straight 1 star. They're nice and seemed like they wanted to improve. So I gave them the chance. Third time, I used Yelp since from my last conversation it seemed they were working on improving website. Yelp uses grub hub so I placed my order through here. They never got my order. I had to call grub hub to cancel it. So please don't order from here. It won't reach them. I guess it's not set up. Fourth time, I used their website but this time I selected pick up. I reached, and they looked at me confused. I told them I placed an order ahead of time. I received confirmation from their website. I literally witnessed the man pull the receipts (multiple) of what looked like online orders coming. My order was not ready. I waited 25 minutes. Now come to my fifth and what looks to be my last visit - today - I placed an online order a couple hours in advance. I understand it's busy so I figured let's give them a two hour advantage. My pick up was for 7pm. I arrived a few minutes after, on purpose. Figured I give them a few minutes. It is now 7:38pm , my order is still not ready. Matter of fact I was told 20 minutes to give them 7 more minutes. It's still not ready. I don't get it. I've tried every avenue. Given them patience. A chance. Even head starts. The kindness and good food can only hold you over so long. It's simply not worth the stress and hassle. What is the point. And it doesn't even seem they're sorry. Just a brush off , a quick sorry. Do they not realize how behind they are ? Extremely disappointed. I want them to thrive but they are dooming themselves with this delayed and poor service. They simply can't sustain takeout orders or deliveries. I don't know about inside. It seems packed so maybe in person they are better. But everything is disoriented. I really am over it. 5 tries. Really tried my best here. I think we are done. Update: Received my order at 755. The chai was not ready so I left. Also asking me I'm fasting because I've been waiting does no one any favors. I may have the patience to sit through this long but my family who are fasting had to wait. read more

Friday night is an adventure night. What do food lovers do?--search for something new to eat. Enroute to pick up my son in Ewing township in NJ, we passed by Route 27 and looking for food to satisfy our hunger, we passed by a place that says "Authentic Afghan Cuisine". Hmmm, never tried it so u-turn we go and parked behind the place. Pleasant people greeted us and a clean place too. There was a "stage-like" area with pillows and carpet and table. I guess that's how traditional Afghan dining room looks like. We didn't sit in that but instead had a regular marble table with comfy white chairs. Server came and welcomed us and menu was given. Their menu is in their native tongue but a detailed explanation written in English is written under each choices. Not a lot but presented well and organized. Lentil soup was then served and an array of sauce with specific instruction that the "red" one is spicy and gave us a warning to go easy with it. The white sauce which I believed is made of yogurt was creamy and tasty and their green sauce is a delight as well. We ordered hummus that was served with their warm nan ( it was bread, not sure if it was called nan), then for our meal, hubby chose Kandahar Special and I ordered their Chicken Kofta. Meals were delivered warm and it was pretty quick. Served with rice and salad--we were happy people in the end. Price is good, food is tasty, not lacking flavor, ambiance is great, their cutleries were gold and they had marble tables...in all honesty--I was surprised trying this cuisine and happy! My wife and I really loved this place and such a great addition to our town. We loved an Afghan restaurant in Washington DC while our daughter was in school and the food here brought us right back.
