Jersey Mike's is one of my go-to places for a quick meal. If this had been my first experience with JM, I wouldn't put it on my go-to list. I went on a Friday around 12:30, which is peak lunch hour so I can understand it being busy. There were four people head of me in line and it took 28 minutes from when I arrived until I got my sandwich and paid. Regardless of the hour, that's a long time for a cold sandwich. There was clearly a slew of online orders that the staff was trying to work on while taking care of the walk-ins. I know many businesses are short-staffed these days so I really don't want to go too hard on the people who show up. Suffice it to say, either order ahead or don't go on impulse (as I did) if you're in a hurry. My bigger issue is the cost: I ordered the medium size sandwich, which was smaller than I remember it being, and it cost around $11. That is outrageous. It's a very good and fresh sandwich but that cost would be reasonable for the large size. Within a couple minute walk I could've had the same amount of food or more for the same price and wait at the Metuchen Diner, Chipotle, Mangia Tuscano, just to name a few. read more

Got their super sub giant size for take out lunch. Their subs sizes comes in three different sizes, mini, regular (a 6 inch sub bread) and giant (full 12 inch bread). Busy now during lunchtime. Nothing extra fancy on their super subs. Jersey Mike's Subs is just an ordinary sub with same ingredients of an NJ subs aka hoagies they call it in South Jersey. They like SubWay where you can choose the type of bread, i.e. rosemary cheddar bread. Their size of bread is same as SubWay's bread. You need to add an extra dollar for their special (gourmet) bread. You can only choose from one of their two subs "The Juice", either a splash of red wine vinegar or an olive oil blend being sprayed on the top of your lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and meats. Since it's my first time to try their super subs, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I think it's kinda pricey for a full super giant (12") subs at $13.70 each (I ordered 2). The taste is not outstanding. Their meat and cheese servings are not that much. Counter serving Staff are courteous and helpful. But, sorry my tastebud says Tastee Sub Shop on Plainfield Ave. South Edison is better than Jersey Mike's Subs and SubWay. Tastee Sub Shop servings are far more than them. read more

Tried this place again out of desperation. Knowing my last time here was atrocious. Ordered another roast beef sub. The worker said they didn't have normal bread , just rosemary and something else.. I chose rosemary. Giggled at the tiny bit of meat he put on the sub. $11 for half of roast beef without even cheese is ridiculous. I get home and have a bit and get sick. There's cheese and rosemary baked into the bread. Why couldn't he say the bread was rosemary and cheese? Had to throw $11.08 into the garbage. Grabbing a quick lunch is not as simple of an affair as it once was during the pandemic lockdown. One day while shopping at the nearby Whole Foods I needed a meal beforehand and I saw Jersey Mike's across the street. Despite having lived in NJ over a decade now, this was my first time going to this chain. Despite having a bench outside, there is no place to sit and eat. This is take out only and we were told that if we did sit down at the table outside we would be asked to leave (fair enough). The interior has been arranged so the tables block you off a bit from the main counter and cashier. Still, I didn't have to repeat my order at all. The cashier was able to hear me despite being a bit further back and wearing a mask. I wound up ordering the #42 Chipotle Chicken Cheese Steak. The sandwich is made to order, which meant the meat was nice and hot and the cheese was beautifully melted onto it. The peppers, onions and chipotle mayo added a nice zest to the sandwich and I devoured it with gusto! Service was quick and friendly (something I give extra points for during the pandemic). I definitely look forward to heading back to Jersey Mike's and having another tasty sandwich. read more

I've come here about 5x since they opened this location, ok maybe 7x, and they never fail. I will admit that I typically stick with the basics, either a cheese steak or turkey and cheese sub. There are so many other options that I'd like to try but why fix something that's not broken? Not for nothing this place to be a chain, they make some pretty good subs. I'd put them up against a mom and pops sub shop, as they aren't stingy with their meat (pause) and the ingredients seem pretty fresh. read more

Everytime I go here the employees aren't following food safety protocol. They have 2 slicers one for meat and one for cheese, yet every time I order a cheese sandwich they slice the cheese on the meat slicer and I have to ask them to use the correct one. instead. They also cut all the sandwiches with the same knife, which makes no sense to me. Why would I want bits of someone's turkey sandwich on my cheese sandwich. It has happened every time I come in no matter who serves me. For people with food allergies, kosher, or vegetarian diets this is not okay and they can food poison people by accident. read more

Jersey Mike's has always been a go to for good subs however this is my first time at this location. I'm a bit disappointed. Quality was not there as bread tasted stale, amount of meat was definitely less than other Jersey Mike's locations and asked for hot peppers and I think there was 4 or 5 small ones on there in the middle of the sub. I know things are different these days and I don't mind paying higher prices for things but not when the quality is much less. Staff were friendly and quick. read more

I have visited this place recently with couple of friends, we ordered 3 subs tuna, mushroom and chipotle chicken along with the sugar cookie and chocolate chip cookie . Was excited to try Jersey Mikes out, placed my lunch order the night before. Food arrived 40min earlier then my set time and my cheese steak was cold, not even warm. It was good once I heat it up though. My problem was my club, not sure if they weigh there meat out per sandwich but I was disappointed getting one slice of cheese and a slice of ham layer. I've never tried the food here. This is because of the staff at this location. I've tried to eat here three times in the past two months and was never asked for my order. The first two visits were in the late afternoon, well after the lunch rush but before dinner. The other was last night about 1/2 hour before they closed. Last night and the first time I visited there were three employees at the counter involved in conversation. They did not acknowledge my presence or make any attempt to take my order. I come to this Jersey Mikes because it's one of the betters ones I've been too. The staff here are really nice and subs here are good too. I usually get a turkey sub mikes way and on occasion I will get a cheese steak. I've never had a bad sub and the ingredients are always fresh. Now here's something I'd really like to see, more sugar free drink options. When I tried the iced tea all the options had sugar. They have diet pepsi which is not my favorite, but I'm pleased they now carry Bubly in bottles. Still it would be nice to see more. read more

Went a few times over the last year and I think they made my sandwich correctly once. Usually they skipped bacon or cheese. Last Friday I was responsible for dinner, having to pick it up and drive home afterwards. My wife hadn't been herself recently- she had been staying out later, feeling cold- almost distant. I was beginning to wonder if there was another man in the picture but couldn't bring myself to ask. Every moment we spent together became progressively more tense. I would stay up at night turn to look at her head resting on the pillow, and pray that she would come back around- that I could have my wife back- that she wouldn't leave me. I did the only thing I could, and that night bought her her favorite meal: the #13 Original Italian, Mike's way. She thought I forgot, but there I was, knocking something loose in her heart that she, at that moment, realized she forgot. Tears are selling up in my eyes as I write this because as we sat at the table, her munching on her sandwich and I, relishing in the majesty of the #4, it felt like we were teenagers on our first date at Point Pleasant again. This place sucks, and it sucks to see it in Metuchen. I ordered a roast beef sandwich with lettuce and mayo. That's all I said. The high school aged kids making my sandwich assumed I wanted the largest size, and threw some cheese on there because, you know, whatever. The roast beef looked good and red- just like I like it- but had no flavor. Also, the cheese they decided I wanted... couldn't even tell you what kind of cheese it was because it had no flavor. What it did have was enough lactose to give me a stomach ache since I didn't take a counter agent. This ass-plosion sandwich set me back something like $18. I don't know why people seem to be hating on Jersey Mike's. They feel like a good place in between Subway (ugh) and an authentic deli (can be hard to find), especially when I'm just craving a yummy sandwich. I've only tried their cold subs (I like the original Italian a lot) and the meat and cheese and accoutrements seem pretty fresh. My favorite part: they do sub in a tub!! They just make the whole sub in a plastic box without bread which is perfect if you're on a low-carb diet. It's a good portion of meat and cheese and there's something about shredded lettuce that makes me happy. If you're looking for some basic sandwiches with decent ingredients, I think Jersey Mike's is a good option. read more

Horrible service I ordered through DoorDash, with special instructions for no Lettuce Tomato or onions and Extra O/V. The driver tells me when he pointed out to the employee that there was not supposed to be LTO, the employee simply took the knife and wiped it off. There was also no O/V on the sandwich. I'm a big Jersey Mike's fan myself- and have always gotten nothing but stellar service at any of the locations that I have frequented. The new Metuchen location did not disappoint! The employees were all friendly, outgoing and seemed happy to be working there. My sub was tasty- ham and cheese on white, Mike's way. I love Jersey Mikes but 5 out of 6 times I ordered from door dash I have received a wrong order. Either they don't know how to read or they don't care what you order. For example, tonight I ordered # 9 with extra bacon, tomatoes ,onion & pickles. I received no bacon, no pickles but I did get lettuce. My other half got pickles no lettuce. He ordered lettuce, onion, tomatoes and received no lettuce but got banana pickles which I didn't order. The employees should make sure they are putting the correct items on the subs just in case someone is allergic to an item they put on without making sure its the correct one. I would give them 5 stars for the food but employees get 2 read more

Went to the Metuchen location on Saturday afternoon, April 28. I've had subs from several Jersey Mikes locations and this one was a big disappointment. Walk in and the floor was covered with food and and the table tops were dirty with garbage left on them. the prep area was also unappealing. The slicer looked like it was never cleaned, which it probably wasn't. The sub itself was sub-standard. Not very generous with the meat and cheese. This location has only been open a few months. I tried to reach out to Jersey Mike's and leave a review but their website was having technical problems. I will not ever go to this Jersey Mikes again. We placed a catering order for our Grand Opening event. The order was ready promptly to our pick up time and the staff was so accommodating and helpful with choosing what the crowd favorites are. Pretty disappointed with the lack of customer service. Sometimes the grill is off, so the staff declares you are unable to get a hot sub. Last night, they were out of 'bread'. Well, they had mini rolls, of which I had to order 4 in order to make a giant to feed my family. And of course, 4 minis are more expensive than the giant we usually get. There isn't much cost overrun in throwing 6 -10 loaves in the oven. I realize this was at 8:20-8:30, but that time should be considered Jersey Mike's sweet spot - when people are done with sports, the gym, or whatever post work activity, we want something quick. read more

UPDATE: I was contacted within 30 minutes of posting my review by the district manager. After rehashing what had occurred at the sub shop he apologized and he said that this has never happened before and blah, blah, blah. Then he offered to send me, in the mail, 3 free sub coupons so that myself and my 2 co-workers could go back and hopefully have a better experience. It's been 3 weeks - still waiting for those coupons!! I guess business is good enough for them that they/he don't really need our business.
