This place is the ultimate little "corner" hometown deli! Awesome little sandwich spot and breakfast place. Classic old school decor, wood paneling and checkered table clothes, nothing fancy just good old fashioned eatery. Their portions aren't huge but they are also reasonably priced and the quality is what really shines at corner cafe! The people that work there are all super chill and down to earth, I love how you pay on your way out. Just tell them what you had and pay, like I said super laid back vibe. This is the type of place where locals come in all day long and order breakfast because it's that good. Go with one of their many signature sandwiches and you won't be sorry! Oh and even when it is pretty packed, I've never waited more than 5 minutes for a sandwich. read more

Corner Cafe & Grill - Menu - Delis Near Me - Somerset, New Jersey

Firstly, Let me give due credit because the young lady that takes pickup orders was awesome! Ordered the short stack pancakes, 2 egg platter with home fries and wheat toast, side of bacon, side of egg whites and another side of home fries. BIG MISTAKE- should have went with a basic sausage egg and cheese sandwich, because the way they butchered these home fries...listennnn, I have never seen grayish white home fries..ever! Prices are phenomenal but the taste does not meet the same mark. Oh, and added cheddar to my eggs to receive plain scrambled eggs without any cheese whatsoever, an even less seasoning. Very blah, very disappointing. Niece said the pancakes were good. I trust her but I'll never trust Corner Cafe again..sorry, my taste buds are adamant. read more

First, they make such great smoothies! their honeybuns are amazing. i would recommend coming here for breakfast if you're working a lot. they are very friendly and kind! so, if you're traveling and looking for a place to try new things, or even just to experience the heart of Trenton, go to corner cafe! read more

It would be a much better experience if the quality of the bagels was even a smidge above Thomas' bagels. Literally could find a better bagel in the Midwest. I called ahead, but when I arrived and paid, my order hadn't even been communicated to the kitchen yet. The cherry on top of this delightful experience was that all of my food items were incorrect, extending my already ridiculous wait time. Maybe the focus should be on work ethic, food quality, and customer service rather than encouraging racist conversations. read more

What a great little place to visit after a long ride on a nearby biking trail. I had a very well stacked turkey club. It was also perfectly placed next to a bike shop, so we got a quick toolkit and repair advice, too. Staff was very friendly and brought your order to the table if you stay to eat. It reminded me of a 60s off-the-beaten-path coffee shop. Remember to tip well. read more

This is a popular establishment. They seem to attract a lot of groups and families. The food was great and the prices moderate. We were a group of seven and everyone raved about their meals. This is not a place for a quite romantic dinner for two. The noise level was fairly high, but we were able to converse. read more

Not the most exciting food that's makes you want to go back. We tried the an egg white veggie omelette and te Western Omlette. Both came with toast & potatoes. Omelette was quite greasy and didn't have much flavor. Boiled veggies thrown into egg white and folded . Western Omelette was a shade better with peppers & onion. Potatoes were sub par , cooked well but not crispy. This review is about food I tried some time back. I heard that the management changed recently so yet to try the food after the change. read more

I am not a big fan of soup because it usually doesn't fill me. I always feel like I got cheated out of a meal. But today I had the Italian wedding soup at Corner Café in Somerset. It was a nice, tasty blend of pasta, veggies, and tiny meatballs, swimming in a broth that was satisfying enough to fill me up. It's a great, go-to option for those seeking a warm, comforting bowl of soup especially when the weather turns cold. Add some bread and you'll feel like you're at a wedding reception. I expected to be hit on the head from the bouquet thrown by the bride. read more

First I must say thank you, they didn't have to do it as it was just partial avocado. Replacing the avocado which they were out of with pack of cookies and a thoughtful note. First of all their food & service is excellent. The corn Nuggets were so delicious. The emplyees are friendly and considerate. Other restaurants need to follow their guidelines to be successful. Not just saying cuz of cookies but for real this deli is excellent. And this was a delivery but I've dined in with friends for breakfast as well and the atmosphere is comfortable. read more

Great place for breakfast! I had the egg platter and it was delicious. The eggs were fresh and the bacon was the best I've ever had. Corner Cafe & Grill is a trip down memory lane. I walked in and I felt like I was visiting my Grandmothers house in rural Pennsylvania. The place is from the day one, and it could use a good cleaning. I ordered a Virginie Sandwich, and I grabbed a table. The sandwich was good, and the service was quick. My bill with a bottle of Stewarts was $13.00. Thank U next! read more

Love this place, super cozy and the food is delicious and fresh! The service is amazing as well! Definitely stop by if you're in the area!

This is a great place to have breakfast or lunch. There are plenty of tables so you can linger as long as you want. It's basically self serve but someone will bring your food to table when done. The food is very good and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend. read more

This isn't cooked, it's burned into a leather like type material - not even edible. And still gave it to someone as ok which is amazing. I bet if it wasn't take out and ate it there it wouldn't have been served. Time to try some of the local bagel shops instead read more

What a sneaky good spot! Love finding local places when I travel for work & this one was a phenomenal find. I had a wonderful lunch experience on a Saturday spent in Somerset thanks to the delicious food and friendly staff at Corner Cafe & Grill! My family and I were looking for a casual restaurant or diner where we could quickly stop to grab some food. We selected this place simply because it was close to where we were at the time and also due to a few glowing Yelp reviews. When we first arrived, we were a little unsure due to its outward appearance. As soon as we walked in though, we loved the homely feel it had. It was also the gentleman at the front desk, Jacob, who drew us in with his friendly and welcoming demeanor. I opted for the very veggie on a whole wheat wrap. Although quite ordinary, the wrap was great. It was loaded with fresh, crisp veggies and made for a very filling lunch. My mom ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich which I had considered. I tried a bite of hers and loved it! The chicken was well seasoned and definitely had a kick to it. No complaints on my veggie wrap, but I would probably order the Cajun chicken sandwich next time. We also got a couple orders of French fries for the group and all enjoyed them. They were really delicious - possibly some of the best fries I've ever had. I've been mindful of my fried food intake recently so maybe it's due to the fact that I haven't enjoyed fries in quite some time, but darn these were GOOD! There isn't much seating at this place which is something to keep in mind if you're planning to dine in. If you're not looking for anything fancy and just want a simple lunch, I would recommend stopping in here. They have an extensive menu so you're sure to find something you'd like. And in the rare chance that you don't, they seemed more than happy to make adjustments to their existing menu items! read more

A heaven-sent lunch spot a mere mile away from my office! I went to Corner Cafe a few years ago, but went back again today to pick up a quick bite during my busy work day. I ordered the Somerset (chicken salad with crispy bacon) on a wrap. The first thing I noticed is that this cafe's "crispy" bacon is the CRISPIEST I have ever experienced. It was ahhmazing. You could feel its crispiness in your jaw when you took a bite. Hands down the crunchiest bacon I've ever had, yet it wasn't burnt, and didn't get soggy from the chicken salad. Mind = blown. The chicken salad was tasty and the wrap was a nice size, definitely big enough to hold me over until dinner, even without sides. Another big plus about this place is the service. The man who took my takeout order over the phone/rang me up in person was SO nice. You could tell he actually cared and wasn't just going through the motions. We had a nice long conversation and he asked questions about my job in a way that only someone who truly cares/is paying attention would do. I will be back on my "fun" days when I go out for lunch versus pack my own! read more

Corner Cafe & Grill - Somerset in a wheat wrap. The world's crispiest bacon is lurking inside. - Delis Near Me - Somerset, New Jersey

Hands down the best deli and sandwich shop in the area. Nothing comes close. Been coming here for years and I think they may have gotten better with time. Each employee treats this place with passionate care. It's amazing to watch. They want you to have a great experience. The food is extremely well made. Burger patties are flavorful not out of the box, defrosted. A variety of food on the menu, from breakfast to lunch. Great ambience. Not expensive. Clean bathrooms. Great for families or office colleagues on weekdays. read more

Good food at a good price served by great people Enjoy a specialty sandwich and some tasty soups

Corner Cafe & Grill on Amwell Avenue, Somerset, NJ, is nothing like the franchised food purveyor known far and wide. Rather, it is more a country corner deli that feels like a small, cozy shop with entrance in the rear, that uses red/white checkered table clothes and a back porch with a row of tables against the windows, to create the feeling of a back country roadhouse. The local constabulary having breakfast made for an extra level of hometown flavor. I was there for an easy breakfast before court nearby. I ordered french toast at the cashier, poured my own coffee and found a table overlooking the enclosed porch through an inner window. I easily listened to a few conversations around me while scanning the online news. My meal arrived a few minutes later. Three slices of thick bread, transected diagonally, grilled dark brown, with a pile of bacon on top. Looked good to this hungry man. Spread the butter and poured the Smuckers syrup over everything, and got down to business. The bread absorbed it all, and tasted of vanilla and cinnamon within. Very good, although more than I could finish. The bacon's crunch complemented the softness of the toast. Coffee was an average brew. If I lived in the area, Corner Cafe & Grill would be a regular morning stop. As it is, this hangout is well worth the occasional visit for morning repaste when I find myself in this neck of Central JerZee. read more

I came here today to try something new different. So, I ordered egg salad with cucumbers on a wrap. However, instead of the cucumbers I wanted bacon. When I got home I opened the container which contained my wrap. I immediately started taking pictures, which are attached by the way. It LOOKED better than it tasted. The egg salad was watery and there wasn't enough eggs. There was only bacon towards the end of my wrap. The only plus was the lettuce was very crunchy and the wrap managed to hold everything together after I opened it and closed it again to keep everything together. My meal was supposed to be $6.50 but because I changed the cucumbers to bacon I was charged an additional $1.50 plus I wanted Doritos Cooler Ranch chips which was an additional $1.80. The gentlemen at the register told me that if I got the chips I wouldn't have to pay for taxes on my chips. Anyway, I heard great reviews on this place but I was disappointed with my food. The service was very nice and helpful but I probably wouldn't go here again. The egg salad wrap at Cafe Amici is MUCH BETTER. read more

Great sandwiches, speedy service with a smile no matter how busy. Some sprucing up of the environment would be a plus. Handicapped ramp has splintered wood & a paint job would be nice for the parking lot entrance doors. Entrance on that side could use some cleanup. read more

Easily the BEST pork roll egg and cheese sandwich within a 15 mile radius. Rest of their food is delicious too, of course. These guys are great, their service is friendly and fast. Awesome and creative (& delicious) lunch menu includes lots of favorites and unique combinations. Also, the cafe itself has lots of rich history, dating back to at least the 1970s when it was a hole in the wall deli called "the cricket" Atmosphere is friendly and has a hometown feel you will not find at any other local deli. Thanks guys! read more

Huge menu with lots of breakfast and lunch options. Reasonable prices. I had the California burger with american cheese. Option for kaiser or whole wheat roll. I went with the whole wheat. Great flavor in the burger with subtle seasoning. We shared an order of tater tots which were nicely crisped.Few tables available for seating. Only concern was the amount of deli meat on the subs. It may have been a fluke but looked a bit scarce. read more

Updating my review since I eat here on the regular for several years now. The ownership changed a couple years back. (new owner even better looking :-). Looks like the new guy is doing some sprucing up, painting etc. I have never had a bad sandwich or service experience. It can get busy during the lunch rush, call ahead if you are worried you wont make it back to work on time. I see someone wrote the employees were not wearing masks, I always see that they are. Also-They now have iced coffee so thats dope. read more

Sandwich was so fresh & good. I called in and the lady that answered had a nice personality! When I went in to pickup my sandwich, she was very welcoming in person also. My only complaint is the door frames and handles needs to be cleaned, bleached down. Very unsightly. I wanted to clean it myself. At no charge. Because it was a cool spot. I've lived in the area for sometime now, and always have missed this deli. It's laying back out of sight. An easy miss! read more

Great service and the food was delicious. Look forward to eat from Corner Cafe & Grill next time in town.

When you walk into a clean and sensibly designed ordering and eating establishment, with friendly and fast order taking, you're probably at a five star place. Add to that a robust, creative and clear menu board. The hustle in the open back end is impressive and the restroom super clean. Now for my healthy breakfast choice How Low Can You Go?...so hot I couldn't eat it 10 miles down the road. That's a good thing. A cut in half wrap maybe since they knew it was take out? Excellent either way. The browned roasted turkey peeking out of the wrap, beautiful and aromatic. As for the taste, pretty good mix of sliced turkey with egg whites and melted Swiss. Black pepper would pizzazz it up a bit and maybe a light healthy aioli using a avocado oil mayo. Still pretty good on a heated wheat tortilla. Bookmarked for a future trip out this way. read more

Extremely impressed with this place and all everything I have ordered from omelettes to sandwiches, subs, burgers, salads, etc. Everything is fresh and flavorful, and they know the size of a large coffee (24oz). Corner Cafe & Grill - Sad looking Italian sub - Delis Near Me - Somerset, New Jersey

We were in the mood to try a different spot to eat and we decided on this deli. First off, the menu is extensive...almost overwhelming because everything sounds appetizing. We decided on the "meltdown" and the #2 sub which was an Italian mix. The croissant (that came with the meltdown) was excellent and not greasy which I appreciated. The #2 was huge but the bread outnumbered the meat so if you're looking for a meatier sandwich, this one may need a few extra slices. The staff is friendly, service is quick, and the prices are reasonable. We will definitely be back. read more

Unfortunately I can't reply to the owner directly so I'm writing a new review. First I would never waste my money on your food again. Second, the bread was stale, stale, stale.
