For a few years, I've been curious about how the food was here at The Rose. Unfortunately, with no takeout available until fairly recently, I hadn't bothered to venture here. But with that said, my girl wanted some Indo Chinese.... so we made the trip here to see whether it's worth a second visit. Now, to be clear: the Rose is a Pan Asian Cuisine. So it's not necessarily just Indo Chinese, but it also encompasses flavors from all the other countries too. We ended up ordering 3 items in the following order: 1a: Gobi Manchurian 1b: Smoked Vegetable Sizzler 2: Mushroom Sautéed in Ginger Garlic We ordered the first two together and those arrived relatively quickly. The Gobi Manchurian was the better of the two, but I wonder if it was a bit too overpowered with spice and less of the sweet and sour taste (or even the soy sauce). The spice was a bit too overbearing. The sizzler was fine, but it was mostly onions and peppers. The tofu - while cooked fine - surprised me because it was like the silky ma po tofu (which coincidentally is what they serve here). In other words, the same tofu is repeated across multiple meals. I think the tofu needed to be pan fried at least for a sizzler. Because of the above, we didn't feel full and thought that the mushroom would provide a different taste pallet. Unfortunately, that was a miss as the mushroom had the same taste as the gobi manchurian, when it should've been infused with the ginger garlic. Additionally, the mushroom was way too overcooked so you couldn't even taste them either. It was like a crunchy mushroom. No good. To make things worse, the waiter, who also manned the front desk, seemed a bit too aloof at times. Often that meant not refilling water unless prompted and not providing the check on time or not even setting up the tables properly with silverware. It was a bit disappointing. This place has the potential, especially with the cute decor. But failed execution with the food and some lackluster service do not make this a place I'd recommend in the future. read more

So delicious! Our family of 9 spontaneously decided to eat here for a Saturday dinner because we love Indochinese food. We were seated very quickly, thankfully, and the ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and elevated. The menu looked fantastic at first glance so we were excited, and our expectations were exceeded. We shared the Veg Bao, Chili Paneer, Hakka Noodles, and Veg Manchurian with gravy (served with rice). All dishes were sooo so delicious - perfect level of spice, lots of garlic and onion flavor, huge portions. The parents were trying to figure out what to order, and asked our server for recommendations - he suggested something called the "Triple Schezuan" which was a combination of rice, noodles, spicy sauce, manchurian pieces, and more. They RAVED about this dish - the portion was also massive! Service was wonderfully attentive and best of all they don't use any cilantro in their food! Hallelujah! I looked up area for Kolkata Style Biryani because I really wanted one but somehow this restaurant came up. Just to be clear this restaurant DOES NOT serve Kolkata style biryani but they do have Kolkata style Hakka noodles, chilli chicken and those attracted me to this place. Finding a place in USA which serves Kolkata style Indo-Chinese items. Service was also amazing. Amount could have been better and cognizant of the price but it's okay. Ordered Chilli Chicken and Szechuan Chicken. Loved the Szechuan chicken even though they both look the same. read more

This place was sooo good. They are always busy Friday - Sunday nights so you may have to make a reservation. The veggie and chicken momos are soooooo good please get them. In the pictures are the dishes we had. It was phenomenal. The fried rice with the lamb in black pepper sauce complimented each other. Great place to bring a date. Decor is beautiful & sexy with lush velvet chairs and lipstick red accents throughout. Candles are lit at the tables if you come here at night. Their specialty item here is their Momos. I never had these before but they sure are fun to say. Momo is a type of steamed or fried dumpling that is a staple of Tibet and Nepali. I saw how big they were and decided not to order them on this visit, maybe next time. Pretty sure it would fill me up before the main entrees came. I consider myself pretty well-versed in Asian cuisine but was a bit perplexed as there were a lot of familiar dishes and unfamiliar ones. Seeing items like Manchurian Fried Rice, Manchow Soup, Soya Cheap Sizzler had me raising an eyebrow...hmmm. Lol. Sure wished there were pictures attached. We came for a quick lunch and decided on: - Fish in Black Bean Sauce (Mild Spiciness) - Chef's Special Chili Chicken with Bone (nicely crispy on the outside and tender on the inside) My companion and I enjoyed pouring these two sauces over rice. The ambiance and service is good. Was underwhelmed with the food. We ordered hot & sour soup, triple schezwan fried rice and momos. Soup was ok, no chinese spices like soy or vinegar in it. Fried Momos were fine, they were served with red chilly paste dip which was a bit off. Triple schezwan did not taste indo - chinese but more of pakistani flavors. Very spicy, lots of red chillies tempered as part of garnishing. The server and manager were good, kept checking on us but the flavors were definitely off. read more

Owned by a couple who also run Punjabi Rasoi also on NJ 27, they are passionate about food and connected with their patrons . Less than a year since they opened , this spot calls out to all Chinese food lovers , as they have mastered the true medley of Asian sauces and spices offering an irresistible menu. Celebrating an occasion at their restaurant is always a enjoyable as they take extra care with thrower service and make it special. We kicked off our dinner with Chili chicken , Schezwan chicken ,Chilli Paneer , Momos - Paneer and Veggie and Soya Chap Sizzler. Every dish was well balanced and an explosion of flavors. Soya chap was a bit spicy for my taste. My favorites were Chilli Chicken and Paneer Momo. Wok fried rice , Thai Basil fried rice , Singapore noodles were all mellow yet tasty entrees. Singapore noodles has a subtly curry flavor yet not spicy making you want to go for more . Thai Basil fried rice is so aromatic and what stands out as expected is the basil fragrance and flavor . Thai green curry with sticky rice is quite good too. Not the best that as it doesn't ooze authentic Thai flavors of lemon grass or galangal, but still a close cousin. The brownie sizzler is a lovely twist with the sizzling ice cream over warm gooey brownies . Their staple chocolate cake with the sparkler to celebrate a birthday is to die for. Your fork or spoon just sinks into the cake and as you bite into it , it disintegrates and coats your mouth leaving you with a feeling of bliss ... My husband and I went in craving Thai food. We ordered the tofu and spinach soup, shrimp bao buns, kimchi salad and szechuan noodles. I'm pretty picky when it comes to outside food. This was the best I've had out to eat in a while! Everything was so flavorful and the service was excellent as well. Will definitely go back! read more

First time pick up order Food was really good. I liked that it wasn't salty which is a possibility with pan asian cuisine. The reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars was because I thought the food was expensive. I ordered sweet corn chicken soup and black pepper chicken. $33 is a bit much. read more

Perfect for a leisurely Sunday dinner! The staff is super friendly and they had good suggestions for the orders of momo festival. All the variety were delicious. Our go to restaurant when we hit the Indo Asian food cravings! One of the stewards was really nice and replaced one of the dishes we had ordered for no extra cost since my little one didn't like it after ordering. Pan asian menu with punjabi Indo chinese cooking style... whats not to love! Loved the baby corn and chilli chicken appetizers. The schezwan chicken momos were a little rubbery on the outside but the filling was delicious. The lemon coriander soup was ideal for winter weather. Among entrees, the only disappointment was the thai green curry - unnaturally green gravy and the flavor was off. The hakka noodles reminded me of the 'chinese' food trucks in Delhi in the best way! Today I ordered Exotic veggies in black pepper sauce and could clearly taste it is was stale. When I called them to give feedback the host was rude and started arguing and talking over me instead of hearing my complain. First time trying The Rose and totally loved the experience!! The restaurant had a nice atmosphere- lots of people there all enjoying their meals - not too loud inside, soft music playing. Great service from the staff and the food was phenomenal!! The flavors here for all the dishes were amazing - so flavorful fresh and bright. Ordered the Hot and Sour soup, lemon coriander soup, chili garlic noodles and Szechuan chicken. Everything was flavorful, perfect spice levels and cooked to perfection- nothing was dry or over cooked. The meal only left me wanting more.
