My Albanian wife and I loved our lunch experience here. It was our first time. They had a special hummus with ground lamb appetizer. The ground lamb didn't overpower the already expertly executed hummus and added fantastic depth and richness. We also sprung for the grilled calamari tubes and the chef did a great job of not overcooking while achieving an excellent char. We shared the baked cod and the spice was delicate and perfect. Using cured lemon was a very clever idea as the sauce was not too strong but still had depth; the saffron and turmeric were well balanced. The fish itself was NOT overcooked and flaked perfectly. The vegetables were also executed well and cooked so they could be eaten with the same bite. The star of the show was still the cook on the fish with the wonderful sauce. The sever gave us some Moroccan mint tea which was also wonderful. We will be making the drive from the Maine Line to just to dine here again. read more

Our first time at Blue Olive was to celebrate a birthday and it didn't disappoint. The fusion of Mediterranean/Tunisian/Greek food was nothing short if spectacular. The service was incredibly friendly and gracious and the ambiance charming. We started with hot appetizers of roasted artichokes, pan fried Halloumi cheese, Spanakopita and an evening special hummus with spiced, minced lamb served with warm pita. All so delicious we were tempted to forego our main courses of moussaka, lamb kebab and delicious lemon/caper cod served over a bed of roasted root vegetable. Desserts, celebrated with a happy birthday candle on a scrumptious chocolate/hazelnut cake , walnut baklava and Turkish coffee made the evening complete. This place is great. Our fourth time here! I had the grilled artichoke hearts with the 5 course meze cold. I loved every bite. It was a ton of food and I ended up taking most of it home. Rarely does one get to discover and delight in brand new epicurean experiences, as we did today at Blue Olive. We had a cream of chestnut soup, which was delicious, delicately umami, and just wonderful! The grilled artichokes, grilled calamari tubes, grilled octopus and flambéed halloumi were so umami we had to eat them slowly and deliberately. Huge wow! It's the closest experience I've had to actually traveling to Greece, but right here in PA. Then the flourless chocolate cake... silky and unctuous. Blue Olive has been on my list for quite some time. Glowing reviews in company of mine are right: this is a hidden gem of a Greek restaurant. We started with a cold appetizer trio. We never had Caponata before and it was unlike anything we had ever tasted. The pita was warmed and charred over the grill. Our entrees were outstanding. Generous portions cooked perfectly. The dessert was also perfection. The owner is very attentive and the staff is too. It's a small place with very few tables. The intimate environment is calming and elegant. We won't be back. Placed a large loud fan right next to me. While waiting 30 minutes after hummus for our entrees we were charged for more bread. Sauce was cooked down so long it was pure salt. Blue Olive is one of our favorite spots in the neighborhood. We've been going since they opened and it's become a regular go-to. The food is consistently fresh, healthy, and full of flavor. The grilled artichokes are a favorite, and the lamb osso buco is always a hit. We love that it's BYOB and just a few minutes from home. The service is warm and welcoming, and we even spent New Year's Eve there while our kitchen was under renovation. It's the kind of place where you always feel comfortable and know the meal will be good. Last time I visited, I had the stuffed eggplant special and it was amazing. Wow, wow, wow. Where to for lunch after a busy day at museums? I asked my dining partner to look up nearby lunch spots that didn't have many reviews, but had tons of mostly 5-stars - that's my go to algorithm when looking around an area I don't know well. She found this place and am so happy we decided to come over. It's a small restaurant with just one gentleman running the front of house. He was very kind and generous - when we still had a little bit of hummus left, we ordered an extra pita to finish it up.... and when he saw now we had pita left but no hummus, he brought back another fat spoonful so we could finish it off. That pita was divine - light and moist and fluffy. I loved my beef kofta combo platter. I could have slurped up all that tzatziki sauce. And OMG that rice - so full of flavor and so perfect. My only minor minor complaint is that the water glasses were so small - I drink a lot of water so I felt bad having to flag this gentleman down a few times for refills. Wow! This was probably one of my favorite restaurants! I loved the cozy atmosphere and the service of feeling welcome right when you walk in. Amir, our server, was so sweet and offered us hummus on the house for our first time there! He was knowledgeable about gluten and double checked with the chef. The octopus was a special so we started with that. Both the hummus and octopus were so good! Good perfectly. For our mains we did the chicken thighs and the beef kefta kabob. Both SOO good!! Highly recommend trying this restaurant for a family dinner, date night, or girls night out! It's also BYOB which we will definitely do for next time ! Can't wait to go back. Probably the best kept secret in the area. Have been there 8 times. Cozy, but not too tight. Great service. Best Bronzino in the region(done tableside) Super meaty with amazing Tunizian Olive Oil. Everything in this place is great! I had my daughter's wedding shower there and everything from table setting, to decorations to the food was incredible! First, we both had the falafel sandwiches, very disappointed the falafel weren't crispy balls rather a smashed flat thing I expected much better. We also ordered French fries they were soggy. An amazing, exceptional tasty experience all around. So worth the 40 minute drive both ways. We arrived by 5:30, place was empty, we were concerned. So odd for a cold Saturday night, but as soon as we got started the restaurant slowly and progressively filled up. The manager/host was as friendly and inviting as possible, he sat us, provided menus and explained the evenings specials. We asked a few opening questions and were ready to start placing our order. Opening with the spanakopita and special appetizer, the grilled Spanish octopus over arugula with lemon slice. The spanakopita was flaky and melted in your mouth delicious. The grilled octopus was tender, flavorful and also melted in your mouth. Off to a strong tasty start. For our entrees, my wife lover her beef kofta dish, I did taste it, had a nice little kick of spice. For me, the Lamb Osso-Buco was a winner. First off, the plating presentation was a thing of art, The lamb shank was incredible. The melt melted off the bone, with a fork, no knife, tender as could be. And the couscous had a nice slight sweetness to it. Excellence dishes. Love that it's BYOB and a parking lot. We'll be back for sure.
