As far as falafel goes, I've had way way better, but... it's not the breadcrumb filled bland chickpea ball that a lot of places seem to be serving up these days. Their hummus and tahini sauce are almost the same taste, meaning there is too much tahini in their hummus. The pickles in the wrap added a nice pinch of salt and acid though but overall, it's lacking the balance of flavors that I've gotten elsewhere. The place has a nice amount of seating and the staff is very friendly. They also always have deals going on so it's a great place to keep up with! read more

I don't typically have Middle Eastern food, but enjoy the opportunity to indulge in it. I ordered the beef kofta with french fries. This was a very filling meal, and the sauce elevated the meal. However, I felt like the meat was slightly dry. I don't know if this is typical for Middle Eastern food, but it needed more sauce or something. Service is very nice and the restaurant was clean. I would be open to trying a different dish at this restaurant. read more

Visited my family in Pennsylvania for the holidays a while back and had a great meal here! It's an assuming local chain serving great Middle Eastern food at very reasonable prices. We started with the Sham Sampler which comes with 2 each of spinach pies, meat pies, cheese pies, and crispy meat filled kibbee with what I think were their garlic sauce and tahini which were both delicious. The kibbee was a bit on the drier side but everything was still well seasoned and tasty. For mains we shared the beef and chicken mixed kebab platter, mixed (lamb and chicken) shawarma platter, and a chicken maroosh roll. The beef and chicken kebabs were nicely seasoned with a nice chargrilled flavor, paired well with the sauces and the bed of rice and layer of grilled onions it came with. The shawarma was also very tasty, with a good portion of well marinated sliced lamb and chicken. Pound for pound the best dish though, was the chicken maroosh sandwich with a generous serving of their tasty chicken served with a a killer combo of garlic sauce and white sauce served in a slightly crisp lightly grilled long roll - the combination of flavors from the savory chicken with the garlicy creamy sauces in a perfectly crisped long roll was fantastic, and I would come back just to try the other versions of the maroosh roll with all of their other meats. Overall had a great meal here with good portions (was a total of 5 of us including my two parents and we were satisfied with the appetizer sampler + 3 entrees) and very reasonable prices. The hummus & pita were very good. The chicken nuggets and fries were a fam favorite. The one thing I wasn't really a fan of was the beef. It was a bit overcooked and tough. It also had an off flavor to it. I would definitely come back just not get the beef again because it just wasn't right. My husband didn't mind his as much so maybe it was just mine. The rice was good. Service was quick & friendly. It got very busy while we just arrived. It reminds of a place you'd find in NYC or Philly. Large menus and some seating. This Al Sham location is our family go to! It's near the Willow Grove (ICCWG) masjid. The location is clean and the staff is great! Everything on their menu is excellent. Lamb quesadillas- insanely amazing! The creaminess from the sauce and the lamb gyro pieces are perfect. I was never a fan of quesadillas but this has changed me. The fries are crispy. Chicken sandwiches - if Al Sham ran solely on chicken sandwiches, they would be at the top of the game and super successful. I don't know how they do it all! I think we got two versions, maybe different rubs, both were perfect. Also! We ate these 2.5 hours after picking the food up and nothing got soggy, everything stayed crispy! Wonderful flavors and menu!!! My new favorite restaurant. They are halal and offer meals deals for those of us on a budget. The staff were welcoming and very helpful with choosing a meal. The baklava is probably the BEST I have ever had. The restaurant and restroom was super clean and free from clutter. I think my favorite part besides the food and how quick the staff worked was the many different cultures of people coming to pick up food or dine-in. The samosas were delicious and flaky with a nice green, cilantro-y sauce. The pita was fresh and went nicely with the hummus and garlic sauce. I was recommended to try the pineapple Barbican malt drink (non-alcoholic) which was sooo tasty and not overly sweet. As a fan of Mediterranean food, this place hit my cravings in all the right spots. The NY style combo platter is so flavorful, and also quite spicy. I also tried the sham sampler, which included an assortment of small pies --some looking similar to egg rolls but filled with cheese, some looking similar to samosa but with spinach, some with meat inside, and also what seemed to be almost like falafel filled with a meat. They were all delicious, especially when paired with the sauce it came with. Overall, a very clean place with good food and exceptional service. The wife had the falafel dinner.. my chicken and rice as killer . Flavorful and very generous with the portion size. Loved the white sauce but just wish the "hot" sauce had a little more kick . Great place! We heard there were a few other locations so the menu does vary from location to location however the one here in willow grove is fantastic! Everytime we have come in, the food and service doesn't disappoint. It's fast and delicious, can't ask for more! We love the falafels, it's never dry, fresh and warm! The tahini that comes with it is chefs kiss. We have also gotten the ny platter, great portions for that any schwarma platters. The only thing that could be bigger is the gyros! They're a bit smaller than we normally get at other places but still very good. I loved the salad here, the fattoush! Lemon dressing was so good! This is Al-Sham's newest location. It's in a small strip shopping center. Parking lot can get a little busy/tight but not terrible. I ordered online. Their website isn't fantastic and a little hard to navigate on mobile. I wanted my food to go through and I'm glad I ordered ahead because when I was inside I heard other people ordering at the counter to go and they were told 15-20 min wait. You can also eat there. They have a pretty decent amount of seating and it's nice, clean and well lit in there. My order was ready when I arrived. I got an order of stuffed grape leaves and a falafel pita wrap. Prices are VERY fair and servings are large. Both items were pretty good. Falafel was a tiny bit on the dry side, made a bit more sauce would be good, but still delicious. I'll be back! read more

Great menu options and the red hot sauce packs some serious heat. The green hot sauce tastes similar to Indian green chutney. The shawarma was fresh and the toppings were delicious with the sauce. Pretty good. Ordered online directly from their website. Pretty easy to do. Got an order of NY Combo and NY Chicken. Didn't know it was spicy, but my kid who didn't normally eat spicy liked it! One entree was pretty big. The chicken and lamb were cooked perfectly. The sauce was poured over the entire entree so it was perfectly seasoned and sauced. Hubby got the Shawarma combo entree. My boyfriend and I tried this place a few weeks ago for the first time and were HUGE fans! It was a bonus to learn they were a family-run business as well, and we were happy to support. We ordered the beef and veggie samosas, falafel, and NY lamb and chicken platters. It was all full of flavor! This time around, we decided to stick with what we knew was good, but were surprisingly underwhelmed by the chicken platter. It was bland and the chicken was very chewy. My boyfriend called to let them know, and the man we spoke to seemed very eager for our feedback. He even insisted on dropping off a replacement entree of our choice at our residence! When he arrived, he asked specifically for our thoughts on the dish so that he could follow up with his staff. We were impressed by his oppenness and willingness to go above and beyond to satisfy a customer. We let him know that the meal in no way deterred us from revisiting, and that we were big fans of their restaurant (and continue to be!)
