This is a charming inn to stay where the owners greet you and treat you like family. No, it's not a luxury hotel with elevators and carpeted floors to cancel footsteps in the rooms above you, but old time charm has been restored and the beds are comfortable and cozy. Each bedroom has its own bedroom, but some bedrooms are tiny and some very large. (I was given one of the large room seen in the photo.) However, this isn't the kind of place where you'll hang out in your room. There are big, comfy chairs and couches by a warm wood fireplace in the winter and tables and chairs out on the patio and front porch to sit and enjoy the view in clear weather. Best place to be in the Dover area! Great location, not even a 5 minute drive to Mt.Snow. I have stayed here with friends numerous times and just haven't gotten around to writing a review. Each and every time you go you feel as if you are part of the family there. They do a great job at making you feel as if you are in your own home! Absolutely great and loving people here!! I came to VT for a wedding during Labor Day weekend and they were recommended by the bride. I was excited to be able to book such an affordable hotel close to the downtown area and wedding venue. When we arrived (late night), it was creepy as no other, and as we stood waiting for the Inn keeper wto pop her head in from her actual home area - which was merely seperated by a threshold - we took a moment to soak in all the memories on the wall. Even without stepping into Yelp or a room, you can tell this place was going to be homey and perfect for a Vermont weekend. The Inn keeper, came out chirpy and barefoot to show us to our room. The first thing we noticed was the freaky door lock, no knob, and a twist/pull/push action needed to be learned quickly in order to get in and out of the room. I do not recommend having too many cocktails and trying to figure it out. Once inside the room, was quaint with wall to wall wood and and old school cabin vibe. It was very clean and in room 204 you have a great view of the pool and patio area. Since it was late August, we completely forgot about bikinis, and I was particularly bummed when I found out there was also a hot tub! We unpacked and grabbed a drink in the Dove Bar & Grill half a block down the road. THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP IS THE MORNING BREAKFAST. Seriously, that needed to be in all CAPS. I wasn't expecting much, considering I have traveled many places, with many terrible continental breakfasts, which I am grateful for their "free"-ness....but my expectations were super low. Let me tell you, I am not a pancake person.......and the Gray Ghost in makes the best damn pancakes next to Crackle Barrel. They were crispy on the edges, fluffy in the middle and of course the unlimited maple syrup is a treat. What can make this breakfast even better? Thick sliced bacon and crispy home fries. My heaven....I may move to Vermont. Needless to say, you should come here, if only for the breakfast. The rest of the Inn is so cozy and cute. There are couches and a big fireplace that makes you sleepy just looking at it. They offer a BYOB bar, which I thought was genius! There is a game room in the basement too in case you don't feel like stepping out. Although I would recommend going downtown to check out the cute shops and walk around or just to stuff your face with a lobster roll at the Anchor house. What a great place! My friends and I stayed here for skiing season on Mount Snow. Carina and her staff are incredibly warm and friendly. They really go the extra mile to make you feel like family. If you have any problems at all, Carina and the others jump into action. The facility itself is a pretty standard bed and breakfast. It's pet friendly too, and there were plenty of dogs to be seen. I wasn't impressed with my showers water pressure/temperature, and some of the DVD players and whatnot are getting a bit dated. But honestly, I didn't go to Mount Snow to watch a movie. And the water temperature was offset by their hot tub anyway. The breakfast is also a great perk too. Made to order and tasty too. It's a great way to start the day. What an awesome place. Cary and Eamon are the owners along with their 2 children and a dog. They were awesome hosts. Coffee and breakfast were provided every morning with a variety of options available. The inn had a shared living room with a fireplace. There were 2 refrigerators for guests to use to store snacks (leftovers from neighboring restaurants). That was a nice convenience. There were 3 restaurants within walking distance. We enjoyed hanging in the living room and meeting the other guests. It was super homey. The hot tub was an added bonus. Soothing being snowed on while sitting in the hot tub. Great option after a day on the slopes. We didn't use the basement game room but it looked cozy with couches and a huge tv with lots of video options to choose from. And the game room had air hockey, pool, ping pong and foosball. I'm back with a group of motorcycle friends for the second year in a row. Optional welcome dinner last night was delicious. (There are several meal options you can choose from when you register - different prices - our group chose BBQ.) Carina and her family are gracious and friendly. The Inn has a country lodge atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable. Everything is very clean. Breakfast cooked to order. Shuttle bus runs hourly between Mt Snow and town of Wilmington so we don't have to ride out in the rain and people can party hearty if they like without risking life and limb. We love this place. Excellent place! I planned a ski trip to Mt Snow with my vegan Frd's from NYC recently, I wasn't really sure how bed and breakfast place might work for people with plant based lifestyle. What a great place to stay! Carina and her family are the most welcoming people you can meet and they treat like so. I stayed here with a few friends for a night while we were up at mount snow. Its a convenient location if you are doing the same thing. The grey ghost inn is a great and cozy little place. The rooms are simple: bed, closet, tables, and bathroom, simple, but comfortable I mean who does love a good bunk bed. The inn also has a lot to do! they have a game room that contains pool, ping pong, air hockey, arcade games (pin ball, race car), TV with old movies and VHS tapes haha. They even have a bunch of board games to play and they offer a BYOB bar! This place would be a great getaway for a group of friends. So much fun. The have a pool too but for obvious reasons it was closed BUT the hot tub was available! They also served a great breakfast! eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, fresh coffee, and juice! The cutest little bed & breakfast in the area. Staff is so sweet, beds are comfortable. The only problem I would say, would be the temperature of the room was wayyy to high for me. The inn is super cozy and includes a game room in the lower floor- the game room includes some games and pool table, ping pong, air hockey, tv fireplace. FL1st is the kitchen, front desk, the dinning and fire place, the hot tub. All the rooms are decent size and if you ski, the inn is really close to mount snow- and includes a shuttle to the mountain. The Gray Ghost Inn is an experience all on its own. From the outside its your typical B&B. It is family owned and run, and they live on the premises. On the inside its a little different from your standard bed and break... As far as the rooms go that is. We had two separate rooms with two double beds each. There are no televisions in any of their rooms (excluding like 2 suites). Which can be a shock to the system, but turned out not to be an issue for us. But you dont go to a mountain resort to sit in your room and watch tv (hopefully). The bathroom doesnt come with bars of soap, only liquid soap (and shampoo, if your in the shower) dispensers. The heat can be a little iffy as well (so Ive heard) even though we didnt have a problem with it. There are two common rooms, one on the first floor (where you can watch TV and movies) with a wood fireplace. We would start a fire late at night and drink ourselves silly by its warm glow. This is also where the communal fridge/microwave are, and where breakfast is served. The other is in the basement, where they have a gas fireplace, tv, dvd, ping pong, pool table, pinball machine and numerous board games. There is also a large hot tub outside. Breakfast is offered in the morning (well duh) normally with two choices. One day we had blueberry pancakes with sausage and bacon (they offer eggs everyday, but I dont do embryo). Another day we had french toast, and the next, regular pancakes. Each one was absolutely delicious. The food is served and prepared by the husband (Magnus) and the wife (Carina) owners. They are both very pleasant and accommodating. We stayed here during a 2 day blizzard (19 inches) to do an event for the Mtn Dew Tour, and it was unreal. I love snow and couldnt get enough, it was non stop. The inn is only a few miles away from Mount Snow and there is a free shuttle bus that stops right outside. This is a local Inn, run by a live-in owner. There is not 24-hour staff. We arrived late and had to take a room without checking in. In the morning, Carina wasn't even phased. She was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was absolute quality - the starch/sweet component is different every day, but they almost always have eggs, sausage, bacon, and potatoes. When I stayed there, there were blueberry pancakes one morning and French toast the next, and both were excellent. Breakfast is included with the room. The rooms themselves were cozy and clean, with a variety of bed options depending on your party. All have en-suite bathrooms. The pool was nice, though we didn't get to spend much time there. All of the other employees were friendly and accommodating, as well. I would absolutely stay here again, and recommend it to anyone I know who is staying in the area! read more

We came across the Grey Ghost Inn through the Green Mountain Adventure Challenge. The inn is owner operated by Carina who has been doing this for over 17 years. This place is cozy, comfortable, and enjoyable. A big part of this has to do with Carina who works very hard to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable. A testimony to how great Carina and the inn has to do with the number of repeat guests that stay there and shared stories of the times they have had at the inn and how the staff work hard to make everyone happy and comfortable. The Inn is pretty large. It has a big common area with a fridge for you to store your beer/wine or other items (it is a BYOB) as well as a game room in the basement with a pool table, ping-pong, and air hockey table, and some arcade games. There is also a pool, jacuzzi, and fire pit in the back. In the morning there is also breakfast which is very good and gets the job done. The inn is not a hostel, but fosters socialization with other guests. There are no T.V.s in the rooms so you have to hang in the common area and play games or do a puzzle, hang out near the fire pit with everyone, or shoot pool. One of the cool parts of the inn was the other guests. The inn attracts a lot of bikers who have been staying there for years. It was enjoyable to chat with them about the 200 or 300 mile trips they took during the day on their motorcycles and about the Green Mountain Adventure Challenge we were doing sitting around the fire at night drinking beers. Overall this is a great place to stay when visiting Dover. It is comfortable and friendly all the way from the owner Carina who runs it to the other guests who have been staying there for years. I would recommend that you give this place a shot. Plus, it is pet friendly and there are two big black labs who roam around and make you rub there belly when they are not getting any attention. read more

I highly recommend staying here. My friends and I stayed for one night since it was located very close to Mount Snow Resort. This location has a game room, out door hot tub and pool, and many other amenities that will make your stay worth while. You can't beat being in an outdoor out tube on a cold day in the middle of February! The staff was great and created a very welcoming environment. The lady, Carina, ensured that my friends and I were very well taken care of. The breakfast that is served in the morning was awesome and made us feel like we were at home. They also have an awesome friendly dog here that sat with us during our breakfast. There really is nothing negative to say about this place (except the hairdryer in the room frequently would shut off from being over heated). I really wanted to like The Gray Ghost Inn. I know we came with a Livingsocial deal. I am aware of this fact as it was Maha's birthday present to me. So I know we were not paying full price for luxury. That said, I really truly believe all business owners should know that people that take deals like this have also stayed in the best hotels all over the world (yes, it's true). I have been blessed to experience everything from Boutique hotels in Kyoto, Japan, to lavish ski resorts in St. Moritz. Having tried all of these, I know that our expectations for The Gray Ghost Inn were in line with what they could offer. They fell short even there. The most frustrating part of the visit was the condescending attitude of the staff. The female innkeeper flip flopped between friendly and nice, getting us a hairdryer and turning on the heat in our room after we spent the first night freezing, to being ornery and angry and slamming the door when we could not get it open. No, we were not idiots. Neither were the other 3 people who tried to get the door open-every time we came back to the room. To make matters worse, when we told her husband that we had to light the fire in the fireplace ourselves because it was out and they didn't answer the bell he made fun of us. He also made more fun of us when we informed him that the hot tub was very dirty and filled with leaves and mud. He thought the princesses were unhappy with the color of the horses. No, your hot tub is filthy. You have no towels out for us to use. We didn't appreciate being made fun of. Combined with the dirty thin worn sheets, the cold room, and the subpar service, this is NOT a place I would recommend. I don't know about the others, but for me, stay away. I had no plans, and found myself looking for a hotel last night. I tried Grey Ghost Inn because their sign said 'outdoor hot tub' and that's something I really value. I was checked in within a few minutes. I had a great stay, spent lots of time in the hot tub, which had a beautiful view of the woods behind the inn, walked to The Last Chair restaurant for dinner and beer (don't miss their upstairs lounge, all their dining areas and food is great) and spent a little time in the great room by the lovely real wood fireplace. I enjoyed the amenity of the self service bar. I needed to use the wifi though, and it wasn't really fast enough to be functional. I hate that I needed that on vacation, but that's reality. As a solo traveler, I felt completely at home and comfortable and had a good time talking with other guests. I didn't get to play the piano, but I did check it out and it was in tune! I loved the family feel and relaxed atmosphere. It wasn't just a place to sleep, it was a lovely experience that made my ski vacation perfect. And the breakfast was delicious!! Booked our stay on Booking.com. We arrived in the rustic lobby of the Grey Ghost at 2:39 pm and were warmly greeted by Carina. After a quick check-in we walked through a large common area to get to our room. The common area had a TV with cable, couches, chairs, tables, a fireplace and a piano and guitar for lodgers to play. They also have a refrigerator for you to use. Carina informed us that this is where they serve breakfast from 8-9:30. We made it to our room. A bit small but very clean. No TV but they do have wi-fi. Netflix on my iPhone. Beds were firm and very comfortable. Overall a nice place to stay. Great value and very close to the slopes. read more

Family of 4, both kids under 14, in Dover for a weekend of skiing. Stayed in one of the larger suites, plenty of room and very easily ignored the fact that there are no televisions! Carina, our host, was very accomdating, showing us a couple of rooms and giving us a tour of the facility. Room was cozy, comfortable and clean! Its an older establishment but we thought that added to the charm and really didnt miss any extra ammendities one may find at a larger hotel chain or some of the overly prices B&B's in the area. Breakfast was great, menu items cooked to order. Kids devoured their generously portioned French Toast! Nice to sit in front of the fireplace and enjoy our morning coffee without being rushed. The Grey Ghost Inn is one of Mount Snows most valuable treasures. It's part of the history and the whole fabric of the West Dover, Dover & Wilmington areas. The hotel itself is truly magical. You feel the peacefulness and the safety the minute you walk through the door. It feels like home there in any and every room in the whole Inn, and even though it's so comfortable and the staff that works there couldn't be sweeter and more professional, there is still an elegance in every part of it and the way it's run. I would 100% Recommend this Inn to any and every single one of my friends from NY, Long Island, NYC, NJ, Philadelphia, Colorado, Washington DC and Los Angeles. I can say with full certainty that you will receive five star service and they have accommodations for any and all size groups, in addition to being very family friendly with family rooms at great prices to make everyone comfortable. The owner Karina is an all around beautiful human being and so is her husband. Chef Jim, Nicole and Melissa on the staff are also some of the most wonderful people I've ever met. Tons of people got trapped outside on the way to the minus zero festival, and they happily housed and fed all of us free of charge. Met up here with my mom and grandpa halfway (I live in Burlington, they were coming from Westchester) for his birthday with the dog. The rooms are super cozy, as is the entire inn itself. A lovely fireplace and dining room totally up the comfort. The dinner - absolutely killer!! Jim is a v talented chef. We got wings, salads, meat loaf, steak, and ribs. All was delicious!! Breakfast was just as amazing. The staff especially are so kind and makes the place feel like a home. Recommend 10/10!! read more

We checked in and shortly after we were directed to the smallest room imaginable I went downstairs to let my 3 month old puppy out and the owners 2 full grown black labs (who were off leash) attacked my puppy. The man who was in charge of the dogs let them approach me while he stood about 30 feet away doing nothing. He apologized but didn't seem to grasp the trauma that had just occurred. My boyfriend had booked through a mount snow website and we were originally supposed to stay at their lodging which got over booked and they called us and had found us new accommodations that would take us for the same price, the gray ghost inn. At first we were a little bummed bc who wants their plans to change, but I must say it was all for the best. Carina made us feel at home and went out of her way to make sure that we had reservations (for 13 people on presidents day weekend), calling around to different restaurants to make this happen. She advised us in going to Brattleboro on where to eat and what to do. They make this place, with a gameroom and fireplace, a home away from home.
