There's nothing I love more than quaint and cozy B&B. It was a great location near 2 great restaurants that you must go to (Sawmill and 1846 Oyster Bar and Tavern ) and 3 miles from Mount Snow. When you first walk in there a the smell of pine trees and warm fireplace. Ariiane and Scott were very welcoming. We stayed in the Evergreen room which had a fireplace in the room and jetted tub which was much needed after a day of skiing. My only complaint was the pillows were not so comfortable. They had complementary bottled water cookies and coffee in the room. Very clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast was very good and their dog Josie greeted us daily. We loved it and we'll be back soon!! read more

If you want to experience a quintessential New Englad B&B this is a perfect place to visit. Our room was amazing and super clean. It had all of the amenities of a 5 star hotel. The attention to detail in the room and the Inn made for a nice relaxing weekend. The room had a jetted tub, fireplace, outside private deck and super comfy bed. The linens and pillows were soft like clouds. The personal touches like the robes or make-up face cloths were those little unexpected things you appreciate. The owners Ariana and Scott were so gracious and accommodating. Josie their pup was friendly especially during breakfast. :) I have food restrictions and they were able to accommodate all of them. The breakfast was delicious homemade everything...cinnamon chips scones, omelets, bacon, coffee and tea etc. YUM!! Did I say how immaculate the room and common areas in the Inn? By far the cleanest and most organized B&B I've ever stayed at and I have been to a lot. The location is perfect for people wanting adventure or just a nice relaxing day or both. We took advantage of the location and went on a 5 mile hike which was wonderful. We relaxed with a bottle of wine and a nice hot bath after the hike. It was perfect. We highly recommend staying here and will be coming back for a few nights next time because we enjoyed it so much. Thank you Ariana and Scott for making my birthday weekend so special. What an incredible gem we found. We stayed here for our second anniversary from January 3-6, 2021. We quarantined in our home for 7 days and came straight to VT with a negative test. Wwe wanted to ski and snowboard at Mount Snow's and have room for takeout. We found the perfect place. We reserved and stayed in the Dahlia room, which is a well appointed room when the feel of a cabin. A rainfall shower, gas fireplace, and french doors that lead to a sitting area on the deck. The morning view of the snow couldn't be any more quaint. The room is actually quite warm (and insulated!). We had the thermostat set at 55 the whole time. The gas fireplace and ceiling fan kept is quite cozy. There were times we cracked the door to let the winter air in! The bathroom and shower were spacious. The tub has jets and fit one adult nicely. The towels was super soft!! The inn has several common areas. Although they may be off limits during covid, mid week there are not many guests, so there is a chance to use them to eat or relax if you need more space. There is a library, two giant family rooms, and the dining space There's probably more on the third floor, but we didn't explore there! The innkeepers are Ariane and Scott, who are marvelous. They provide breakfast every day. The pancakes, yogurt, and other choices were great. The scones are amazing!! They normally have a dinner service on weekends but it is suspended during Covid-19. However, there are plenty of great takeout options in West Dover and Wilmington. We recommend Dover Forge and Anchor Seafood, the latter also having limited dine in seating. EV friends - there is a Tesla charger and J1772 charger on site. The inn is a literal 5 minute drive to the Sundance lot of Mount Snow and 7 minutes to the main lot. It's 30 minutes from Brattleboro and 40 months to Bennington. We are already planning our return in the late part of winter and we have already recommended this place to another friend. read more

An amazing bed & breakfast! Went here with my fiancé for the weekend while we went skiing at Mount Snow and this couldn't have been a more perfect place to stay. The people working there were all so friendly and nice, there are many spaces for relaxation in the common areas where you can play board games or watch movies, and the breakfast in the mornings was amazing and we had the best view of the snowy mountains. Felt very movie-like. Highly recommend! read more

A beautiful inn with wonderful comfortable rooms. Very tastefully decorated with eye catching adornments everywhere you look. Each room is a feast for the eyes. Full and delicious breakfast included. Our hosts, Ariana and Scott could not have more accommodating read more

We stayed here at a family members recommendation and could not be happier with everything from checking in to the breakfast and nice conversation with the owner. Close to everything and depending on conditions, walking is doable. The rooms were super comfortable and quiet and the whole family enjoyed...first visit but definitely not the last!!! read more

Incredible Inn with Innkeepers who completely stole the show! The inn is beautiful, well kept and in good condition considering its age! Inn is set beautifully high on a hill overlooking Haystack and Mt Snow Mountains. Inn was beautifully decorated for Christmas and with the falling snow outside-was absolutely picture perfect! West Dover however, is in the southeast corner of Vermont which is in the middle of nowhere! Restaurants are few and far between and not vegan or vegetarian friendly! Restaurant food is delicious but a bit pricey-most likely due to the fact very few restaurants exist in the area! Inn is highly recommend if you are visiting Mount Snow! read more

We had the BEST time ever here! Beautiful, cozy, comfortable, clean, safe inn! The inn keepers were fantastic and went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. One of the most amazing breakfasts I've had from the buttery sweet crunchy cinnamon scone to the perfect and lovely over stuffed omlet with awesome accompaniments. Beautiful decor and view of the mountain and not to mention the added bonus of it being free with our stay. We were a little disappointed that they didn't serve dinner on a holiday Monday, but no other complaints about t his awesome establishment. read more

Unacceptable! Note to staff: I've eaten there before and it was pretty good; I might have even said excellent if there was just a touch of humility in the way you present yourselves (I'm talking mostly to the host, but you seem to be rubbing off on your colleagues; if you weren't so self absorbed you would realize that the restaurant does well despite of you not because of you; and your rude smugness really puts a dampener on the otherwise enjoyable evening. This past Saturday 3/14/15: If you're fully booked there is no reason to be rude about it. My gf is a vegan so her choices in small towns can be limited, so we thought we might give it another shot. The person that answered the phone could not have been more rude! By the sound of his voice I'm presuming he's a young gay maitre d' that's unjustifiably proud of his position and if he worked for me... he'd be terminated immediately. Word for word this is how the call went: "Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible for you to accommodate my girlfriend and I for dinner tonight" "We're full... ... ... (Followed by silence)" (Since this is not typically how restaurants explain that they're full booked for the entire evening, I wondered if he thought I meant I wanted to come in immediately... So I attempted to elaborate) "Full? All night? We'd be happy to take a later table if possible?" "We're FULL! "Click"" (he hung up). Surely it would be far more reasonable/acceptable if you simply shared that you were in fact "fully booked for the entire evening", even possibly go as far as to offer "perhaps there's another night we could accommodate you?"; or any language indicating how you certainly appreciate our patronage because without us you realize you would be peacocking without an audience. Whomever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself as you have cost your employer future business. It's easy to be fully booked at a ski resort on a Saturday night, but it's the overall service and relationships you build that keep you busy; something you're not smart enough to know and need to be taught. Kudos: In my 39 years of life, 20 years of business, homes on 3 continents, and trips to almost every corner of the world, you're the first restaurant to leave a bad taste in my mouth just by calling you on the phone. PS. When I related this story to the desk at my hotel, she said that was the reputation u have and she never recommends anyone to go there because if it. I wonder how many people feel this way and how much business you've lost already (?) read more

We found this Inn on yelp. This review applies only to the dining as we didn't spend the night there. Although we didn't get to enjoy fine dining with a view as advertised, we did enjoy it very much. The servers were very warm and courteous. The food could be considered a bit but not overly pricy. if you want quality, you'll have to pay for it. I ordered the quail with kale which was well prepared and presented and, I must say, delicious. My wife ordered their ribeye which was cooked to my wife's liking which can be an arduous task, if you know my wife. The ambience was great, relatively quiet, sweet music piping in from the speakers which made for quite a romantic evening. read more

Exceptional Inn, with Innkeeper/owners on site. Attentive staff, excellent breakfast, lovely room.

My friend & I recently visited for an impromptu trip to go snowboarding all the way from New Jersey. From the moment we arrived at Deerhill Inn we were blown away at the level of service we were provided with from beginning to end. Scott provided us with a tour and made us feel like we were practically family. The atmosphere is a cozy, rustic and welcoming. The rooms were impeccably clean, and every minor detail had been taken into consideration. We were given homemade cookies and high end bath products in our room, as well as recommendations for what to do in the area. Before leaving we enjoyed a breakfast with an incredible view, hosted by the most hospitable woman I have ever met. She made us feel like we could ask for the anything and we wouldn't be a bother. The food was exquisite, and I enjoyed the BEST warm scone I have ever had. Overall this place gets 10 stars. Not only will we be back but I have already recommended this place to as many people as I possibly could. Look no further, Deerhill is the place to be! read more

Arianne and Scott were some of the best hosts I had! Scott always made sure that the fire was stoked in the common areas, which was nice to sit and hangout by and Arianne was just so delightful to speak it and answer any questions I had. Our room was what you'd expect from a Vermont Inn, cute, quaint and cozy! we loved it! It was extremely close to mount snow, and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The breakfast was very good as well! read more

Very lovely, romantic restaurant. Definitely pricey though as well. Menu changes frequently and they don't list the prices online. Limited choices for starters and entrées. Maybe five entrées only one under $34. We ordered the salmon since my girlfriend doesn't eat meat and I got the rack of lamb. She liked her salmon I thought it was OK. Rack of lamb was good but I asked for medium rare came medium... Still pretty decent. Somewhat small portion for everything on both plates but OK. Waitress made us feel a little uncomfortable because we had already had a few drinks and were driving so we didn't have any more drinks and the night before we ordered way too much food so we figured we just stick with entrées... She seemed almost upset that we didn't order more. But overall everyone was nice and the food was good. Little pricier than I'd like and I would probably give it 3 1/2 stars. read more

My first review but it bears saying, that Ariane and Scott are most accommodating. Being one of the coldest Valentine's weekends, wind chills resulting in negative 30 and even negative 40 degrees, it stayed quite warm throughout the inn. Unfortunately due to unforeseen events we were not able to stay Friday night, Ariane was very understanding and allowed us to alter our dates of stay in less than 48 hours notice. And allowed us to alter our dining time when we finally arrived. You can tell they work hard and stay very busy, but they do go out of their way to do everything the can to make your stay enjoyable. This was our second stay within two years. Always have enjoyed wonderful food for both breakfast and dinner. My counterpart going as far as saying that the blueberry pancakes were the best he's ever had. While, I found the lobster bisque, one of my all time favorite soups, to be top notch. But beyond that, we've also found small pieces of artwork that we want to purchase each time we've stayed displayed on the walls or within the check-in office. Beautiful inn. We will certainly stay again in the future. read more

We stayed here this past weekend in the Pine Suite, a small suite on the third floor with a king bed and a sofa. The room is beautiful, warm, cozy, clean. The entire inn is charming and the owners are the nicest friendliest people I have met in a while... but what makes this amazing is that it's all in the details. In the entrance is a wall of brochures and maps of the area and things to do. The main room downstairs has a coffee machine with k-cups and a fridge with milk and cream. Next to it is a table with electric kettle and about 15 different tea varieties along with sugar and honey, You can make yourself a cup of coffee or tea anytime, day or night, and you have everything you need whether milk, cream, sugar or honey. One flight up the stairs is a large room with a fire place, sofas, tables and a large cabinet full of board games and DVD movies. You can sit there and play games, or take a movie to your room (our room had a TV and DVD player). The room also had 2 bottles of water and homemade cookies waiting for us. And now the breakfast. Not your average ordinary buffet type of breakfast. In the dining room are set tables with beautiful table cloths and beautiful plates. Also each table has small bowls with butter and jam. Once you sit down, the owner brings you homemade scones (DELICIOUS) and a small menu!!! You can order anything you want from the menu... Initially I thought for sure we would get charged for this (after all, its a menu and you can order anything), but it was all included. They make everything you order on the spot, nothing is pre-made and everything is delicious. We did not get to try to dinner but I am sure it's as delicious. Overall - one of the best places we have stayed at. read more

This review is a few months late, but I could not pass up the opportunity to express my gratitude and delight to the Deerhill Inn & Restaurant. My boyfriend and I were in the area July 2011 and decided to dine at the Deerhill's restaurant that had just gone public at the time. We were immediately impressed by the Inn's inviting feel. The owner's adorable dog ran down the steps to greet us and practically led us in. Inside, the decor was both charming and inviting with subtle rustic touches everywhere. The place even smelled of comfort! The Innkeeper allowed us to choose our table and we picked the one closest to a wide window to take in the views. We shared casual and pleasant conversation while choosing our wine and dishes, all the while enjoying a gorgeous sunset. The meal was perhaps one of the best ones we'd ever had. Each course was better than the last, from the impeccable attention to plating detail to the way each dish was cooked to perfection. We walked away so impressed, we vowed to return to the Inn for a full experience at a later time. We went back last December for a weekend that changed my life. They accommodated a late dinner on Friday night upon our arrival and, on the following morning, set the scene for a proposal of a lifetime on their grounds. Every single detail was beyond perfect. My boyfriend got just the right amount of privacy needed to propose, we received a bottle of delicious champagne to celebrate, and in the evening, shared another amazing meal at their restaurant. Between the hospitality, dining and beautiful rooms/grounds, I could not think of another B&B that could match my experience at the Deerhill Inn. I hope my fiance and I can return to the Inn at sometime in the near future! Thank you again for the wonderful experience! read more

A one night trip to Vermont was the perfect romantic getaway - there could not have been a better place to stay than the Deerhill Inn. We made a last minute reservation for the Sunday night of Columbus Day weekend... I have no idea how we managed to get a room in such a beautiful place during prime foliage. The house and room (Tamarack) was absolutely gorgeous and very clean. The weather was perfect to enjoy the gas fireplace and a hot bath, and breakfast (in bed?!) was incredibly delicious. It was a little outside of our budget for a single night, but worth every penny. We will definitely be going back! read more

I have visited the Deerhill Inn twice now, and can honestly say it is the best B&B and dining experience I have ever encountered. The owners, Ariane and Scott, are perhaps the most suited couple in history to the roll of running a luxury bed and breakfast. They are kind, warm, exceptionally attentive all without being overly present. They have an uncanny way of being there exactly when you need something. This is the perfect destination to relax, have everything you need attended to, and be surrounded by the gorgeous landscape of the mountains and the gardens at Deerhill. The food is also outstanding, with exceptional service and out of this world cuisine. I will be back again and again. Excellent place to stay if you find yourself in west dover, but it is entirely worth the trip just for this place alone. I'm thinking about moving in permanently! read more

Decided to stray from the B & B we were staying at down the road and enjoyed one of the most enjoyable and pleasant meals we've ever had. Do yourself a favor and stop there as they are just now going public again with their restaurant. read more

This review is for the restaurant only. The food here was very good but not phenomenal. I was disappointed by the service my girlfriend and I received over the holiday week. We had a reservation for two and were told to wait. We didn't have to wait long, and the service reluctantly brought us a dining menu, but did not offer to let us order wine. Our table when prepared was jammed in a doorway, which was not optimal, and given the place wasn't packed I don't think it was approps. The setting is really romantic and beautiful, and the room is very nice. The menu had pretty limited options which was a little unfortunate. The maple pork chop was delicious. The wine listed on the menu as Santa Barbara wine was not from SB which was a little strange, but forgivable. Overall food was four stars, service was 3, so I'd say its a 3.5. read more

Romantic and cozy. Elegant but friendly. Amazing food---both breakfast and dinner were as good as any world class restaurant (and I travel extensively). Everything was home made, fresh and natural. The Inn itself is beautiful. It is very convenient to Mount Snow. The innkeepers are very nice. The restaurant is very good.

We just had dinner at the Deerfield Inn, and it was a wonderful dining experience. It was so good that we asked to meet Chef Todd at the end of the meal to congratulate him on his efforts. The French onion soup was superb, a delicate combination of home made stock, slow cooked onions, a crisp slice of bread with a sprinkling of parmeasan cheese....a far cry from the usual condensed beef stock loaded with salt, and ladened with stringy cheese in some sort of crock dish. I had the beef short ribs, a very tender portion, well trimmed, served with a bourbon reduction that was a pleasant conbination of flavors, without being too sweet. The BF had the venision, which he declared to be best he has ever had. There are many fine places to eat in the valley, but I must say that the Deerfield Inn has risen above the crowd. We will be going back. I suggest you make a reservation. read more

So the hubby and I stayed for 2 nights on a slow weekend right before fall. Our room was lovely (although the bed was a bit less comfortable than desired). The two person soaker tub was amazing and the patio off the room was also sweet. The food from the restaurant was awesome, only complaint was that the portions were on the small side and everything is so tasty that it's really leaves you wanting more. I would certainly recommend this place as we really enjoyed our stay. It is the quintessential Vermont Inn and was really a treat to stay here! read more

This review is a little late but had to post. My husband and I stayed here back in October 2016. We are big travelers and we both agree that this Inn is our favorite by far. The owners and staff were very nice. We stayed in the Sugar Maple room which has it's own entrance. The room was cute and cozy with a fireplace, small seating area in front of the window with the view of the beautiful mountains, gas fireplace, comfy bed, small tv, and cute bathroom. We decided to eat dinner at the Inn which was convenient and delicious! I ordered the roasted quail (they let me know the quail was very small and asked if I wanted a second which was nice of them, I just chose 1) with butternut squash and braised kale. My husband ordered Pan fried scallops with asparagus. The food was cooked perfectly. They had a great choice of wine! The breakfast at the restaurant was also very delicious. I ordered an omelette with bacon and potatoes. My husband ordered eggs and apple pancakes. We wished we could have stayed longer than 1 night! We highly recommend to stay here and can't wait to go back! read more

Like the other reviews, this inn deserves an excellent rating. We stayed here this past weekend to ski at Mt Snow and we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The place is warm and inviting with multiple fireplaces stoked for winter travelers. We stayed in the orchid room and we looked into the other vacant rooms and saw that they were all beautifully appointed. Lots of inviting sitting areas around the inn also. We spent one evening playing chess and scrabble and drinking wine. There is even a nice little bar that is fully stocked. The owners Scott and Ariane are great and always scurrying about taking care of someone. And the breakfast. Wow. It is gourmet and lots of it. They serve dinner but we did not try it although the menu looked incredible. All around this is an awesome Inn and so convenient to Mt Snow and surrounding areas. read more

Our food was superb. We had some special requests related to allergies and they were very accommodating. The atmosphere was very mature. At 41 I was the youngest in the place by a few decades. The service was friendly. There was some awkwardness with not having the right flatware at the right times, but the server was otherwise attentive without being too attentive. The prices are a little on the high side. If it were just 5-10% cheaper it would feel like the right value to me. read more

My error in thinking the 4.5 stars was for the RESTAUTRANT here...but it was for the inn. I am sure the inn is lovely as the innkeepers certainly are. HOWEVER, I feel so disappointed in our dinner. Honestly, we drove through a blizzard to get there and it was so mediocre. AND the average price of our entrees was 45 dollars. Service was fine from inn keeper but our waitress who looked bedraggled (and the place was pretty empty). She actually answered one of our requests with a WHAT? I mean, it was almost laughable. What was good? The bread and olives...really good. We had entrees...one in our party had the venison and said it was awesome. But all of the other dinners were meh. Very limited choices. Not at all what was advertised in local papers and on line. Way too much money, mediocre service, and unremarkable food. The thing is, this MAY be the best this area has as it is such a touted restaurant..but really, there must be better in the area. Next time we are up..we will look for it. Also, what was really unfortunate is this is a really nice inn, and most folks were dressed nice but not formally for dinner. We were in a room with a large party, that was loud, obnoxious, poorly dressed and cursing. Alcohol consumption was the culprit here..but really, a bummer for us. It happens I guess....unfortunate. read more

The weekend we spent at the Deerhill Inn was very special and a real pleasure for the group of eight of us. Scott and Ariane are wonderful Innkeepers. They provided special service throughout the stay, from the tea or coffee or cold lemonade and cookies in the afternoon, to a beautiful breakfast, cooked perfectly to our specifications. The rooms were beautifully appointed and comfortable. Suggestions, maps, birdwatching books were only a few of the things that we were thoughtfully offered throughout our stay. We also had a very good dinner one night at the Inn. Our group will be returning. read more

We found this place using yelp. Overall, it was a decent experience, within a reasonable distance of Mt Snow. They offer afternoon tea and comfy beds that make the experience pretty good. However, I found the innkeepers to be attentive to the point of being intrusive, which was pretty annoying on a romantic weekend away with my husband. Additionally, while the food was good, it wasn't as good as they act like it is, and portions were small enough that I overheard more than one person ask for additional food. It is a sit-down breakfast with pretty slow service that I found off-putting, especially on days when we were trying to hit the slopes. We also visited during a pretty big snow storm, and don't feel like they did a great job shoveling the stairs to the parking lot, even long after the storm subsided. My opinion may be biased, as our last VT inn experience (Jackson House in Woodstock) was absolutely unbelievable, and may have ruined us for other inns. Overall, however, I guess I just expected more given the cost to stay here, and it may not be ideal for guests looking for more privacy. read more
