Carpet ..get rid of the carpet and make it more traditional with wood floors and a few throws. . Add a few nice bath products not the cheapest out there...just saying. Didn't feel clean, seemed very dusty and with allergies that doesn't help. Room 8 is very dark and the bath is across the hall which is fine but then provide a washable robe. Breakfast was ok. Hot coffee, fresh muffins and a choice of fresh French toast or a baked oatmeal bar with apples.

I arrived at this easy to find B & B right off of route 9 just after 4 and Brian met me and guided me to my room. I loved the eclectic old feel and a room without a TV and a fridge was of no consequence to me. When I booked the room all I wanted was a clean quiet room and Victoria - Brian's wife said "it was pub night on Wednesday and there would be some people eating there and there may be some noise to 9:00 PM". As I had a business dinner in Brattleboro, one this would not bother me and two - when I got to my room at 8:30 I could not even hear the any noise from "crowd" of regulars. But when I peaked in it looked like a place and a dinner/drinks I would have enjoyed. The small bar and larger pub room with a roaring fireplace is on my list to enjoy next time, but this time I was fast asleep to get up early for skiing the next day. I showered and pack and went down for a cup of coffee - wow was I surprised. I am a bit of a coffee snob as I buy fresh roasted beans and grind it right before brewing...but this coffee was GREAT! From a small roaster in Greenfield, Victoria was keen on the sourcing of everything! She convinced me to have a little breakfast and the eggs and flaky croissant with four berry jam that was just what I needed. It lasted me a full day of skiing. The bonus was eating it in a comfortable dining area with a view down the hill to a beaver pond - with blue jays and cardinals to keep me company. So nice, so inviting, so open to conversation, I really enjoyed the trip. If my business proposal takes off, I will be staying here more often. Thank you, Brian and Victoria, for a wonderful stay!

It's a nice idea- running a non-profit to keep a historic hotel stuck in time alive…read more It's expensive and atrociously dirty. They even threaten to charge a huge fee if you smoke in your room, while the filthy housekeepers are on the street smoking every 5 minutes. Our first room hadn't even been cleaned yet. We were given a free upgrade and while the towels and sheets looked fresh- the bathroom and rest of the furniture in the bedroom hadn't been cleaned in what looks like ages. The bathroom still had dirt and popcorn on the floor. The nightstands and refrigerator had visible dust everywhere. The bathtub is peeling and can't be used. The carpet is so disgusting we didn't take our shoes off. Gross place. Too bad- nice idea. Old is ok, but clean it.

This is a hotel centrally located in downtown Brattleboro. It has a theatrical theme and has a…read morehistoric movie theater attached. We stayed in a two room suite. The rooms were spacious and clean. There was no temperature control when we stayed there. The ACs were shut off and the rooms were warm. Not a bad thing if you sleep warm, but I like a cold room and was a little uncomfortable. There was a fan provided and it helped. Downstairs in the lobby is a cool coffee nook where you can sit on comfy couches and can enjoy free coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The movie theater is stunning. If you don't take in a movie, you should at least take a peek inside. There is a small restaurant attached to the hotel as well. The menu is limited but the food was good. There is very limited parking at this hotel which was disappointing. There is a public parking lot next door, but it's paid and I don't know if it's overnight. The location is great. You can walk to many shops and restaurants and covered bridges are only a short drive away.

The absolute only problem we had was that it was so very difficult to find. Directions were rather complicated as it is hidden on a very noice lot, behind a local grocery shopping center with only a small service road address near an interaction with a major road through town. You really cannot even see it from I-91 because of the trees. Remember, this is Vermont, land of big green trees. My best hint for those looking, even with a map, is to turn at the Hannaford Supermarket and take the service road to get behind it. Our room was more elegant than expected for a quick service hotel. Though the heat took some help in adjusting as the weather had turned suddenly cold, we got help from the desk and it turned out not to have been on the "heat" setting yet and then we had two warm cozy nights. It had better lighting than most and because of vision impairment, I need that. They had a nice breakfast laid out in the entry lounge though we opted for our fave donuts as we headed out early the first morning to get to Hanover to spend the day with friends where we knew food was waiting. The second morning we set out just with the hot drinks as it was very early and we needed to get in 3 hours of driving to the Providence airport to fly home. If I was to go to Brattleboro again, I would definitely stay here.

This is a great hotel. It doesn't look like much from the outside or even in the lobby, but the…read morerooms are fantastic. My room was large and sparkling clean. There was plenty of counterspace in the bathroom and a heat lamp. Plus, the shower had doors and not a curtain, thankfully. The bed was huge and comfortable. I loved waking up and staring out over the river. The balcony was great and the view of the Connecticut River is so pleasant and peaceful. I appreciate the mini fridge and the coffee maker. Making coffee and drinking it in bed while looking outside was an absolute highlight. Plus, they offer coffee in the mornings in a common area, with access to a deck, but I didn't check it out. I'd appreciate some hooks near the door, but other than that, the room was perfect. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Everyone was very welcoming. Riverside doesn't offer any type of food or sundries, but there is a convenience store next door that offers a good selection of snacks and drinks, so that is helpful. When visiting this area of New Hampshire or southern Vermont, Riverside is the place to stay.

Overall, a lovely, no-frills hotel with great views of the Connecticut River…read more The place is modern and seems like it was recently built in the last decade or so. There are electrical outlets in the right places, light switches work like you think they do, everything functions the way it should, and plenty of place. Wifi was good enough for a week's worth of work meetings using Google Meet with no drops or other connectivity issues. The speed test came out on the very low end though, so don't expect to be downloading gigabytes of data in only seconds. The staff is very friendly and they generally seem to know what they're doing, and genuinely seem like they want to help you have a good stay. This hotel won't win any avant garde design awards. It's neither badly designed nor 'designer', but that's okay. I wasn't expecting luxury decor and architecture here. I do wish the rates were a little lower. I get that it's basically all river views, but on the other hand, aside from free coffee/tea 7am-10am in the lower floor, there are really no amenities. The gym is a small room with very minimal equipment. There isn't much of a lounge/lobby to speak of except for a couch and a couple of armchairs. There's no onsite restaurant, cafe, or counter-service spot. There is a convenience store a 3-minute walk away, but that's about it. The location on the river is great, but if you want to grab a bite to eat or explore, basically anything other than some hiking in the nearby woods, you need to drive there. So walkability is not great at this place. All that said, it was a nice 'retreat' from the world, where I could get some work done during the day, and have a clean and peaceful place to sleep at night after adventures out in Brattleboro and beyond. Bathrooms: Spacious, clean, and functional.
