Our room was infested with large black ants (end of February!) When we looked for the manager he wasn't avaiable 2X. We were only there for two nights and they were discovered after our first day so not much we could do. We also left a message that went unanswered until after checkout. We were offered a discount for a future stay - not happening. This is an older Inn that needs a deep clean, furnishing upgrades, and a good dose of energy. It felt very sad. It was a joy to spend an evening by the woodburning fireplace at the Deerfield Valley Inn in West Dover, Vermont. The host, Oz (spelled Oguz), has a bachelors and a masters degree in hospitality and it shows with his extravagant welcome and gracious helpfulness. The room was exactly what you would expect from a quaint New England Inn, with very comfortable love seat and chair in front of the woodburning fireplace (very rare to find anymore). The bed was pleasurably comfortable. Breakfast was cooked by Oz and was tasty and well presented. The location is surrounded by excellent restaurants, just minutes from Wilmington which also has many restaurants and shops. If you were an artist looking for a beautiful Vermont country inn to paint, this would be an excellent choice. And, it was quite affordable, especially in light of its well-deserved stellar reviews. At first glance, I wasn't sure what to think. The inn was created in 1885 so everything has a bit of an old feel to it. The radiator makes a clanky noise at night, the bathrooms are a bit small, and the beds are soft. That said, the hospitality of the inn is great. The management is accommodating and even set up the fireplace for us when he saw that we were in the main living space. Also, location is great if you are skiing at Mount Snow. read more

We were greeted kindly and had a wonderful room with a fireplace, wood already stacked and ready to light. The inn keepers helped us decide where to eat (and we were not disappointed). The next morning we sat and chatted with them and had a lovely breakfast of yogurt and granola followed by the BEST blueberry pancakes I've ever had. This cute inn is clean and well maintained. We stayed here as part of the Green Mountain Adventure Challenge, and the innkeeper has been very accommodating. We arrived quite late at night and she was still there to greet us and check us in. Breakfast was included and were basic breakfast choices of eggs, waffles, pancakes, etc. I'm not sure about other rooms in the inn, but ours had no air conditioner. We did find a fan in the closet but it definitely is rough in the summer heat without it. Bonus: sweet treats by the tea counter in the hall!! read more

This Inn is perfect, the decor is Vermont romantic, and, as my wife would say, very "cozy". The service was impeccable and the owners were perfect. They were flexible with my arrival time from New York City. Daureen and Rosemarie actually waited for me to arrive before they headed out. The food service was impeccable. If you are in the area, it is a must stay... it is conveniently located between Mt. Snow and Wilmington... plenty to do - walking distance to a bar :) I can't wait to get back there ... We were able to stay at the Deerfield Valley Inn this past weekend thanks to a Living Social deal we bought over the summer. We got in on the later side on Friday night but we're happy to find our room clean and ready for us. One of the women met us and showed us around. The room itself was small but cute and warm. The bed was comfortable and the tv was a good size. They didn't have any DVDs that we could see but it didn't matter we just watched some cable. I was bummed out when I saw there wasn't a bathtub, just a shower. And the room wasn't really big enough to bring the chairs around the fireplace but we made it work. The breakfast each morning was great with the exception of my eggs on one of the days (WAY too runny for me) but the french toast, pancakes and omletes were great. Another one of the perks of our stay was a picnic lunch on Saturday which we enjoyed homemade sandwichs, bottles of water and some snacks. I do believe we were the youngest guests there and definately the only LGBT couple but it was okay. No one looked at us crossly or with questionable glances. I would say that this inn is LGBT tolerant. All in all it was a good wekeend away from our home. read more

My mister surprised me with a MUCH needed mini birthday holiday. Rosemary and Doreen were very kind and hospitable. There were unlimited tea/cookies/cakes which you can't go wrong with. With our living social purchase we received a few extra perks as well: BIG bottle of Vermont Maple Syrup, $25 dinner credit to a nearby restaurant, 2 for 1 pass to a few different historic places in the area, picnic lunch for 2, and breakfast for 2 each day Needless to say we were eating the majority of the time. There isn't much within walking distance to see. The views of the mountains in the area are breath taking. There was some interesting sites to see such as the Bennington Monument, the town of Wilmington, and some apple orchards. So you're probably saying why is it she only gave them 3 stars? Well, here goes: The *very* quaint sleeping area was crammed full of furniture and the bed was vaguely reminiscent of something Fred and Wilma Flintstone would sleep on. I pretty much didn't sleep the duration of my trip due to the uncomfortable bed situation. My only complaint about the staff was that they neglected to alert us to the fact that some of the local roads were closed/washed out due to Hurricane Irene. We ended up on a small dirt road for the duration of our trip because so many roads were closed. It probably took us an additional 90 minutes to our already long drive to reach our destination. I'm just saying a heads up would have been nice... Would i stay here again? No, probably not. The only reason i wouldn't stay again is the mattress. The town around was very nice and the inn keepers were very pleasant to deal with. If i don't get to sleep i'm not a happy camper, or bed and breakfast-er...? read more

We stayed here for the weekend, and had an amazing time! There's really not much to do within walking distance, but there was a lot to see if we drove and Rosemary and Doreen were really friendly and gave us good recommendations. Our room was small, but adorable (and I think the other rooms were bigger), and comfortable. Also, there were wine glasses in the room in case we brought our own wine! (Which we did). The clincher, though, was the breakfast! You never know what you're going to get with an included breakfast, but both mornings, we had dishes that I would have been happy to pay for in a restaurant. Each day there was a sweet option and a savory option - blueberry pancakes or eggs/bacon/toast the first day; french toast or mushroom omelet the second day. We tried three out of the four options and liked it all. The blueberry pancakes were the best I've ever had! I would definitely stay here again. read more

We stayed at this Inn as part of the green mountain adventure challenge. Originally we planned to check in extremely late and the owner was more then accommodating with this, but we ended up changing plans and checking in on time. The owner was very responsive both via phone and email prior to our arrival. The inn was very quaint, there was a living area for relaxing in our free time, a separate dining area and then the bedrooms. There was always hot water and tea bags and some sort of treat out at all hours of the day, whether it be a cookie or a brownie. We had a deluxe room with a queen bed and couch. The room was very clean and spacious. The water pressure wasn't the best with the shower but we managed. Some of the windows in the room only had sheer curtains so the room got really bright in the morning and would wake us up earlier then planned, but other then that everything was great! We were given several options for breakfast each morning and it was always delicious. Along with our meal we were given fruit one day, cinnamon roll another and a sweet type of bread the third day. The cinnamon roll and bread were so good! Breakfast options usually included eggs, omelet, or pancake/French toast. The owner/staff here truly was excellent and we would definitely consider staying here again! read more

Loved staying at this inn! The inn itself is so welcoming and has a lot of charm - the innkeepers are very sweet, friendly and helpful! The breakfast both days was really delicious - don't want to miss that! The rooms are super clean and comfortable and have wood burning fireplaces. The location is really wonderful too - close to several restaurants and bars within walking distance and also short drives to Wilmington and trails (rec haystack - moderate to hard)! This is a quaint little placed we stayed at with the Living Social Deal. It's a nice place and other than thin walls and slightly uncomfortable mattresses, nothing is really wrong with it. The staff is helpful and the breakfasts are good although limited if you aren't a meat eater. Rooms are small/cozy but adequate. All in all a lovely time but not somewhere I would likely visit again as it's a bit far and not particularly memorable. Great cookies and tea always available! read more

Once in a while you have the good fortune to stay at a hotel or inn that really is a home away from home. A bed and breakfast inn doesn't get better than the Deerfield Valley. Doreen and Rosemary do more than make you feel at home! It was like having two moms waiting on you. And the homemade coffee cake and date and nut was wonderful. Our room was intimate, Victorian decorated, warm and comfortable and as clean as your bedroom at home. Whether having early morning coffee or sipping wine and having Vermont cheese in the late after noon while sitting in the two high back Victorian chairs in our room was an absolute joy. The Deerfield Valley Inn is like going back to days past when hospitality, service and friendship were priorities. Just stayed here this past weekend and loved it! It was very cozy in room number 8! The ladies who ran the place were very kind and served a delicious breakfast each morning. Obviously not a place for kids but a great getaway for a couple. Conveniently located down the street from Mount Snow. Mount Haystack is a 20 minute drive away which was an awesome hike. Only poor thing was the shower would work on and off. Other than that, I loved it. read more

The Deerfield Valley Inn is a home away from home! The Inn is very cozy, quaint, clean and well kept. The Innkeepers Doreen and Rosemary were very friendly and very accommodating! I loved the fireside chats and with the ladies and other guests at the end of the night in the inviting living room area- playing board games by the fire was also great! Breakfast in the morning was scrumptious with different flavored home baked bread each day! At night there was even a spread of fresh baked cookies and brownies with tea and hot cider. My friend and I just completed a 7 day stay at the Inn. We were there for 3 days back in June. I cannot think of a reason that we would stay anywhere else if going back to Vermont in that region. Doreen and Rosemary once again made us feel like family. The hospitality is beyond compare. Our room (#1), is our home away from home. Awaking to some of the most scrumptious aromas of homemade breakfast is just great! We had plans for each day, but they have such a knowledge of the surrounding areas, such as towns, hiking, and events....it is like having your own personal concierge at a 5 star hotel.
