It turned out to be a perfect life choice for a weekend of great conversation, goats, delicious food, and golden retrievers. Ed and Irene are wonderful hosts and it felt more like visiting long lost friends or family than turning up at a stranger's door. Their home is beautiful; we stayed in the Vermonter room downstairs, enjoying the pool table in the games area. It also wouldn't be a proper review without acknowledging Muriel and Charlie, their two gorgeous, friendly golden retrievers. Ed, Irene, and their staff were all gracious, friendly people. Matt was kind enough to let us tag along on the 6:30am chores (I know, most reviews talk about how much children loved meeting the animals - but these 30-somethings loved it too!) and we had the pleasure of meeting Sarah the next morning. The breakfasts were divine - fresh ricotta with honey and pepper, scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage, fresh baked bread with butter and jam, yogurt with granola - and all farm to table. Portions were more than generous and while I don't usually eat bread (and always say I don't miss it), I wound up having two pieces of Irene's bread with my breakfast. I'd miss bread more if all bread could taste like that! Irene was also kind enough to show us how she makes ricotta and yogurt, which we loved (almost as much as eating it!). The hosts and staff give very generously of their time and we absolutely loved our stay. We are already scheming excuses to go back to pet Muriel and Charlie, visit with Pippi (my favorite goat of all goats), and maybe convince Irene to let us take a cooking class with her (or try her pletzels). Thank you to everyone at Cold Moon Farm for a great weekend; I really can't say enough positive things about the experience. If all B&Bs were like this one, I could very easily see myself becoming a B&B person.

Personal care is extended completely from their conversation to the complete farm to table including homemade soaps, honey, homemade ricotta and long line of foods to table. The breakfast bacon was the best I've ever had! It began as their expansive family home that they've now opened up to those who are lucky to choose this place. My wife and I along with another couple, friend and family dog were welcomed completely. As there private home in the past it has a number of different floors. With a weight room, family entertainment area including TVs ping-pong pool table, games etc.. We are foodies and picky with our travels and meals. Warm and inviting with plenty of parking. Quite simply we have been completely satisfied and a special surprise of having made new friends.

It's like your favorite well-worn pair of slippers or a cozy blanket--relaxed, familiar, and exactly where you want to unwind after a busy day. Dennis runs the bar like Cheers--before long, everyone knows your name. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and it's easy to strike up conversations with both locals and fellow travelers. The rooms are basic but clean, the beds are comfortable, the water pressure is fantastic, and fresh towels are provided every day (thank you Terri!). We also loved the restaurant and bar, especially the daily specials like Meatball Monday, Taco Tuesday, and Burger Wednesday. The food was consistently delicious and reasonably priced.

Upper Pass is a very nice ski lodge with a nice Vermont feel. The room was spacious and clean and in addition to the main bedroom there was a smaller bedroom with bunk beds and a sink. The decor was nice without being overbearing. Plenty of room, good TV, a desk and couple of comfortable beds. The bathroom was fine with a good shower. There was a small coffee maker in the room and they also stocked the room with some breakfast bars. The rooms do not have a refrigerator or microwave. In the lobby of the lodge is the Red Slate restaurant and bar which are not open on Monday or Tuesday. There is also a nice living room with a fireplace, couches and lots of games. Upper Pass Lodge is an excellent option if you are looking to stay in the Londonderry area. The lodge is welcoming and friendly, it has a great feel as an independent hotel, plus on the times I have stayed it has offered outstanding value for lodging on a Vermont ski trip. Okemo is about 1/2 hour away and Mount Snow is a bit further. The Upper Pass Lodge does hospitality right.

The place has always been very clean. The beds are above comfortable with great linens. The room which we select is small with no TV but in includes a jetted tub with rain shower. After a day of skiing we head back to our room for some wine and cheese. Their is a small store a couple of doors down which has a huge selection of wine and cheese. If you are lazy room service at the inn will bring a tray to your room. The town of Jamaica has a few stores so you can stroll the town and kill some time in the local shops. The inn serves the best breakfast every day which is included with your stay. They also serve dinner but that is extra. The inn keepers Ed and Jen are warm and friendly. The place is pricey but if you are looking for an above the top place to stay this is the place.

We have returned about 10 times since then as the ambiance and atmosphere of both the Inn and the West Townshend VT area have 'called' to us. We have loved the historic feel of the farm, the amazing food and generous and down-home hospitality. One of the greatest charms has been the individual and very unique feel and character of each room - no two are even closely alike. The original farm house which housed the kitchen, bar, living room, and dining area also had some 12-14 guest rooms. There is a second building on the property, a 140 year old dairy barn that has been converted to an additional 8 guest rooms. It also has a shared large living room / lounge with fireplace and full kitchen in the lowest level. With wide wood plank floors, four poster beds, fireplaces and soaking tubs, these rooms range from intimate and 'cozy' to spacious and airy. The original farm-house building was struck by lightning in the spring of 2021 resulting in a serious fire that did significant damage. This main building remains closed and repairs are still being planned. The entire property closed for a while and finally reopened, but in a somewhat limited capacity. Only the rooms in the barn are currently available and they are open in a self-serve type manner. You can reserve your room online and then receive a door access code to your room on the day of your arrival. You can check yourself into the room using the door code, though during our recent visit in May/June 2024 the friendly and welcoming caretaker Jason was present to welcome us. The barn building and rooms, as well as the pool and local grounds are all being well cared for and are in very good condition. There is no on-site food service available which is still a little disappointing. The 4 star cuisine (included in the original room prices) was one of the great appeals of the Inn prior to the fire. Room rates are now much lower which should make this an even more appealing (read affordable) destination. You should consider bringing your own supply of snacks to tide you over between meals. There is a small mini-refrigerator in each room to keep bottles, cans and perishables fresh. There was no ice in the room yet Jason offered to get some for us if needed. There is a Keurig coffee machine in the common area which was stocked with some tea and bold coffee along with creamer / half and half. We took a couple small coolers with us, one in which to put a small bag of ice purchased at a local convenience store and the other to hold our crackers, cheese, nuts, and other snacks. Beds are large (Queen or King) with memory foam toppers - tending toward being a bit soft. There is a large TV in the room with many options and there is robust WiFi inside the building. There is no daily room / cleaning service currently. West Townshend is a very rural area with few dining options. If you are here on a Friday from mid-may to October (4:30--7:00 PM) you should consider visiting the West Townshend Country Store at the bottom of the hill. They have an outdoor pizza oven with picnic tables. People come from all over for a pizza with locally sourced toppings, to sip some beer or wine, listen to live music and shop the pop-up farm stands for locally made crafts and food items. If looking for a variety of dining options, you need to travel 25+ minutes back toward Brattleboro or out toward Stratton Mountain and Manchester. While the 150+ acres of the property do offer some hiking trails, there are also many other local places, a short drive away, to explore the outdoors. Our favorite go-to is Jamaica State Park and a 5.5 mile (total out and back) easy-to-moderate hike up to Hamilton Falls. If covered bridges are your thing - there are several within a short drive of the property. We truly love our visits to Windham Hill along with the beautiful sweeping vistas and very quiet and laid back ambiance. We look forward to returning here again, many more times. We hope the owners do consider renovating the original farm house and bringing back some of the additional appeal of the original operation.

It was wonderful. I am a clean freak and I couldn't believe that walking around on the floor in barefeet, my feet remained clean. Everything was immaculate. The owner is very friendly and helpful. There are thoughtful extras everywhere - huge variety of continental breakfast items in the office for guests, basket of free treats in the room, good-size fridge and real freezer in the room, super comfortable beds and bedding, pure white hefty towels, and big room and closet and drawers. The price was incredible and we were only a half hour from Okemo. We highly recommend the American Grill Restaurant and the Red Slate Restaurant. The food was delicious, staff and chefs amazing, and the prices like pre-pandemic. Couldn't believe it.

I discovered Snowdon Chalet by chance when coming up to see a World Cup race at Killington. Jen, the owner, was amazing. I had to leave early in the morning to catch the race, so she made a lunch bag with a fresh muffin, snack bars, a box of juice, and a yogurt- and had it waiting for me when I got out the door at 6:00am. The motel has a truly hip, retro architectural vibe. The rooms are all updated, always clean, and stocked with goodies. Jen and her husband are very accommodating- the customer service here is like no where else. Very family friendly and they truly care that you're enjoying your stay at the motel and finding great things to do in the area. We've priced other places in the area. But you really get a vastly better experience and value at Snowdon Chalet.

Anne & David were warm and welcoming innkeepers and their residence was clean, homey, even kitchy with old ski relics and pictures from yesteryear adorning the walls as decoration as well as a unique assortment of mugs available for coffee or tea left on a shelf for your choosing, a very simple but pleasing touch). It was pretty much exactly what I would have imagined a BnB to be in a northeast ski town. The hospitality was second to none - warm smiles and helpful local hints, great big breakfast with toast, fruit, with eggs, bacon, and sausage all from local farms. The cat was even friendly, who curled up with me as I worked to catch up on some business in one of the many open gathering spaces late at night. If you ask nicey, David might show you his ski collection or even take you out for a personal tour of the mountain (although he did say he rarely gives lessons anymore, but something tells me he's still game). I couldn't be more pleased, and I would go again without hesitation. My highest recommendation!

Like, you walk in...the keys to your room are in a basket with a piece of paper on the counter, name on that as well. It's very weird. I guess the ...the future? Lemme say a few things..good and bad about that. The Good! Ok...super convenient. In.....and OUT! You drop your key in the basket and bounce. No check-in or check-out. But see! AH! There is also some bad to that...."bad" FOREVER we have ALL dealt with front desk employees. So...we all have gotten used to that, right? Of course. There is some kind of comfort in having a front desk employee there. Thats about all the good...I would say lol The BAD! What if you lock your key in your room on accident? You are basically screwed. Not sure if there is a way to contact anyone to get you back in and yes....they are actual keys! Not the little cards we all see at regular, mainstream hotels. I DID! lock my key in the room the following morning. THANKFULLY! there was ONE employee there...BUT she was there to make the continental breakfast...which I will talk about in a min. She was able to give me my spare key. Thank God. If you need something in the middle of the night...oh well. There is no one there to assist you. They tell you where extra towels are and stuff like that on the paper you get when you check yourself in. It's an Inn...and Inn very close to the slopes. So when there is actual snow and the place is packed....I would assume its similar to being in a college dorm lol Don't get me wrong tho, place is very homey. The common room is incredible and I kept imaging it when I was there....FK! this would be so much fun during ski season and this place is full of people! HOWEVER! People drink and drink a lot. The walls here are THIIIIIIIIN!!! So be prepared for that! BRING. EAR. PLUGS! and use the in room ac unit for the fan to drown out noise from other rooms. You will need it. The views from the rooms are beyond incredible. I have some attached. Beautiful views of the slopes and in the Fall...the colors. The breakfast! FKN! INCREDIBLE!!! She put out all the basics, bagels and whatnot, full muffins...amazing! She made these cinnamon muffins....SO. GOOD!! I too a few home with me to give to my mom haha! Overall, it's a great place. Really is. I would definitely stay again. OH! They allow dogs....for a fee of course...even the super tiny ones. They will know too if you have a dog with you. Cameras....everywhere. It's located on a busy road..so keep a close eye on those pups. The grounds around the Inn are amazing. Cute little pond out back, sitting areas all around. It's a wonderful place. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone going through Manchester or anywhere near there. Very unique experience. I honestly can't remember ever staying at an Inn before. We…read morepicked the Grafton Inn since the reviews were good, the menu was interesting and the prices reasonable, plus they were open on weeknights. Reservations are easy to make online. Getting there proved a bit challenging when Google Maps routed us on State Route 121 which has some unpaved sections; luckily going back was easier using Route 35 to Route 11. Arriving at Grafton the first impression was of a classic New England Inn with a welcoming glow on a cold winter night. Entering through the B&B lobby had a great warm and comfortable feeling. The feeling of history is reflected in sign over the front desk showing the many prominent guests who have stayed over the years. The restaurant is classy, burgundy-colored walls with white trim and classic fixtures; a wonderful upscale dining room without being stuffy. They even had live music with a guitarist playing soft rock. Our server was very nice, professional and attentive. The menu combines classics and some interesting touches, I ordered the Bouillabaisse and my friend ordered the Caesar Salad and Chicken Wings. Our food came out quickly. The Caesar salad was huge, the wings were tasty and a generous portion. My Bouillabaisse was excellent a nice tomato and fennel broth loaded expertly prepared scallops, shrimp, mussels and a large fish fillet. The highlight were the large sweet perfectly seared scallops, but all of the seafood were delicious. For me this was a Pescetarian dream dish. We were persuaded to order dessert my friend got the Apple Pie and I got the Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie topped with vanilla ice cream. Both desserts were sweet and satisfying, a great way to end a wonderful meal. I would strongly recommend having dinner at the Grafton Inn, the food, service and atmosphere are great, prices are reasonable for what you get. This was a perfect way to top off our ski trip with a superior culinary experience.

It dates back to 1801- and has old world charm with some nice updates as well. We attended a wedding here- but were able to check out the food from the Phelps Barn Pub- excellent!- and had a delightful breakfast at the Inn. The breakfast was a buffet with eggs, pancakes, French toast, biscuits and sausage gravy, bacon, sausage, fruit and more. Yummy! The rooms and the rest of the Inn have a historic feel. But they provide good WiFi throughout to keep you connected. The bed was a king- I slept like a baby! We will have to come back to check out more of the facility. It is close to the ski areas of Magic Mountain and Bromley. Great service by all the front desk and servers too. Highly recommended!
