Food is always served in a timely manner. It is served hot and flavorful. Now,onto the negatives: I know everyone has a not so great start of the workday/morning, but our server today named M*r** gave us the impression that she didn't want to be there. I cannot EVEN call it "businesslike or professional". She didn't offer any words back other than what was spoken to her. No "good morning" no smile, and never ONCE checked our table to even see a simple thing as a coffee refill. The busboy was the opposite accommodating one who gave the coffee and the take-out box that we needed. When we asked him, he gladly helped us. It didn't stop there! Now onto the male, who I've never seen before, cashier. Didn't say a word during the ring up. Matter of factly handed the receipt and the pen for my signature. Still saying nothing. Here I'm paying the establishment patronizing Pastels --- finally a delayed low tone "thank you" as I gave the receipt back. Ok, yes, you're doing your job. In a TIME where it is difficult to both find and retain a job, at least act like you want to be there. We felt almost regrettable for have chosen Pastels today. Future orders when we decide to have their food again will be via DoorDash etc to avoid same, for now Not a pleasant experience today.

Every bite was delicious. The weather was beautiful, so we chose to sit outside. The staff went above and beyond by putting up extra umbrellas to make sure our group was comfortable. Our server was a young woman who was incredibly friendly, personable, and attentive. She made the experience even more enjoyable with her warm and welcoming attitude. Between the delicious food, great service, and lovely outdoor atmosphere, Barnwood Grill was a highlight of our day. I would absolutely return if I'm ever in the area again! It needed more flavor and lacked honey. My brother ordered a burger which he really enjoyed, although it came on an english muffin which he wasn't a big fan of. My dad really enjoyed his salad as well. For desert we split the sticky toffee cake which was very yummy and sweet. Our server was wonderful and came to check on multiple times. The manager was also very friendly and wonderful to talk with! They had plenty of handicap parking and an elevator on the ground floor which was perfect for my grandmother who wasn't sure she could walk up all the stairs. The interior is stunning, with large cathedral ceilings, white tablecloths, and an open yet cozy atmosphere that gives you the classic feel of a traditional steakhouse. One of my favorite touches was the mural of Federico da Montefeltro, the Duke of Urbino, displayed prominently on the back wall. To start, we shared the applewood-smoked bacon appetizer. It was incredibly thick, smoky, rich, and absolutely delicious -- the kind of indulgence where you can practically feel your arteries clogging, but it's completely worth it. My wife and mother-in-law both ordered the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly. My son and I shared the bone-in steak, and it was so large we couldn't even finish it. The sides were simple and classic: creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach, both done very well. For dessert, they brought out crème brûlée and chocolate mousse cake with a candle on top for my birthday. The staff gathered around to sing "Happy Birthday," which made the evening feel even more special and personal. A wonderful meal, a warm atmosphere, and a memorable celebration with family. Everything is homemade, and you can really taste the difference. The clam chowder is to die for, and my mom absolutely loves the senior menu. What really makes this place special is the husband-and-wife team. The husband is in the kitchen making amazing homemade food, while his wife is so warm and welcoming that you instantly feel like a regular. We even told our server that we had a babysitter only until a certain time, so they were fully aware that we couldn't sit there indefinitely. From the moment we sat down, we waited about 20 minutes just for someone to come to our table. We ordered drinks and then waited approximately 40 minutes for them to arrive. Our server came over multiple times telling us, "They're coming out right now," but they never did. After we had been waiting close to an hour, the bartender finally came over and told us they didn't have the beer my husband ordered because the tap wasn't working. Right behind her, our server said, "I'm going to pour it right now." How are you going to pour a beer we were literally just told you can't serve? At that point, repeatedly being told something was "coming right now" when it clearly wasn't only made the situation more frustrating. Our food finally came out basically at the same time as our drinks. By then, because they knew we had a babysitter only until a certain time, we had no time left to actually enjoy our meal. We took maybe two bites of our food before we had to ask for boxes and leave. We still spent almost $100 to essentially take our dinner home with us. What bothered me most was the complete lack of management. Not once did a manager come to our table, despite the excessive wait, the confusion with our drinks, and the fact that we had to box up practically untouched meals and leave. As a business owner myself, I completely understand that businesses get busy and things go wrong. But when they do, management should step in, acknowledge the situation, communicate honestly, and at least attempt to make it right. The lack of responsibility and management here was honestly shocking. We weren't expecting perfection. We just wanted to enjoy one of the very few date nights we've been able to have since welcoming our baby. Instead, we spent almost the entire night waiting and then had to rush out with our food in boxes. So if you're looking to wait nearly an hour for a drink without even having enough time to catch a buzz, or you enjoy sitting hungry while being repeatedly told your order is "coming right now," this might be the perfect establishment for you. Unfortunately, for us, the service completely ruined a rare and much-needed night out together. We drove all that way, arranged childcare, spent almost $100, and left having barely eaten. Extremely disappointing.
