The 1st time I came I waited in line for over FOUR HOURS! Surprising while waiting in line a man drove by and screamed, "the food is good but I'm not standing in that line for four hours to get it!!" Of course we all stayed in line and only a couple of people left after hearing that! The catfish sandwich was delicious and talking with the folks in line made the time fly by! 2nd time I went, there was no line and they opened late, again the food was good! 3rd time I was about to leave because the door was locked but they just opened late AGAIN!! Yes the food was still good! Today was my 4th and will be my LAST time! Arrived at 1:50 left at 2:30. No one inside although the lights were on. Last BUT not least, don't bother calling because no one answers the phone! I only order the catfish sandwich which I give a 5, overall experience as far as time I give 1 Star! So bottom line if you don't mind NOT having your called answered, or it being closed during "open hours" then knock yourself out and get the catfish sandwich! read more

It's a family business that's serving their community with great eatz!! You can call ahead but sometimes the lines are so busy they can't answer the phone. I pass The Gift every day and have been wanting to try it for a while. When their fish sandwich went viral, I knew I had to check it out. But with a two-hour wait and a line wrapping around the corner, I wasn't about to stand in that. Then one evening, I drove by and saw only one person waiting. The fries were regular but that gravy...OMG! That gravy was so good that the other food had to be amazing. I've heard the stories about people waiting 2-3 hours. Took my son to get a sandwich last Saturday for his birthday and he enjoyed it. We got the fish sandwiches with fries and a triple mix and I would definitely go back. This place is 30 minutes from my house and I suggest eating it in the car before you leave to get the freshness of it. The line moved slow but faster than my lady visit. I made it to the windows in about 40 minutes. The woman who took my order was very pleasant and def took her time making sure she copied my order correctly. After ordering, I did ask about the approximate wait. She said a hour. I ordered the cheese fish sandwich the same way the Tiltok'r ordered it minus the tomato and tartar. I also got 4 wings and fries. Baby listen, when I say the food was top tier. Please believe me. Just moved in the neighbor hood. I was disappointed my first night because they ran out of 2 side orders I wanted but I order. Food took a little time but was worth it. My disappointment turned fast as I ate the food. So much flavor, nice and fresh food. I have went back since. The stuffed salmon was the best and worth the price. So I decided to stop here with my friend today to get some food. He got the turkey wings , candy yams and mac and cheese. I got the smother pork chop dinner with greens and mac and cheese. He also had a sweet tea. The sweet tea was super sweet it was more sugar than tea. I cannot judge his food because I did not taste it. I only had a sip of his diabetic tea. By the time I got to the house to rip into my food ,I was excited..because the location of the place scream somebody Big Mama is in the kitchen making mac and cheese!!!
