Truffle Burger
Robert L.

Great food and drinks at The Freehouse! The truffle burger was delicious, I truly enjoyed every bite! The lemongrass Thai chicken was also very good, especially when adding the cauliflower rice. The Mac and cheese was downright tasty, extremely cheesy! And we definitely would get the calamari appetizer again, great dipping sauces with that dish! The service was top notch, very attentive and knowledgeable. There's plenty of seating in this restaurant, they can easily accommodate large groups. Great food, excellent drinks and top notch service, solid place for any occasion.

Rotisserie Chicken (4.25/5)

I got the Rotisserie Chicken and was pleasantly suprised (4.25/5). The skin was super crispy, which I liked, and the meat itself was nice and tender. The mashed potatoes and corn were also good, and the broccoli was all right. The service was good (4/5). The ambiance was fun (4/5); they had notepads and pencils at the tables, which was fun and interesting.

When it's nice out, we adventure!! Came here after a Yelp event and was very happy with our choice. They have a wonderfully smooth brown ale on tap and it hits big time!! Food: we decided on the Brussels sprouts and they did not disappoint... cooked perfectly and the goat cheese and honey complimented everything perfectly. The bartender made us feel at home and even though she was busy, came back to check on us. Very nice inside and out, great patio if you can get a spot.

The best bar service in the whole world is here extremely attentive and fast service love this bar so much. It is the best bar top you will find in the North Loop. My best friend likes to get the bourbon/old-fashioned here and I only drink espresso martinis.

Visited 12/27/25. After visiting, my sister and I agreed that we love Freehouse most for drinks, apps (like a happy hour kind of vibe), and brunch. On this occasion, we lucked out with street parking, but there's also ramp parking nearby. Our waitress was super accommodating to our group of 6 and consistently checked in throughout. Freehouse has such a fun vibe and I love the sheer amount of drink options they have. There's truly something for everyone. I got a cider while others in my group got beers and one person got a wine. I like that they include a combination of Freehouse beers + other rotating taps. For dinner, I got the rotisserie chicken sandwich, my sister got the cauliflower za'tar, and others in our party got the chimichurri short rib, the prime rib, and the steak and pierogies. We all ate our full plates and I'll give the best shout out to the house made chips. These were delicious and I would order them by themselves! With the sandwich for some reason the balance felt a little off and this happens with rotisserie chicken, but I got a few pieces of bone or something sharper while I was chewing which can be off-putting. Loved the jus that accompanied, but for some reason the sandwich wasn't as creamy or as flavorful as I thought it would be. The baguette is the best part. Would benefit from something a little sharper like a horseradish or mustard or something pickled to liven it up a bit. My sister felt similarly about her cauliflower dish. Overall, the Freehouse is still such a fun spot in a fun location. The apps themselves are wonderful and I regret not getting these. They also have a few all day breakfast options which I would also get, as I've always loved their breakfast.

We came here for a work dinner with colleagues and was wowed by the drinks and food. We were told the cauliflower app was to die for, and they weren't lying. It was perf toy crispy with a fantastic homemade dressing that was packing flavor. I had a few options for the server but told them to surprise me. My dish come out and it was the thai pork dish. Wowza! Flavor was amazing and the slaw and citrus was a perfect combo for the meat. Amazing spot!

I've been here a few times but had been a while. My date wanted to be on a patio and so I chose Freehouse. It was kind of busy but we walked in and got seated quickly. From there on out, nothing else went very well. Ordered some dry rub wings, oysters, buffalo cauliflower and a couple drinks. Both took a while to come out and the drinks didn't actually come out till after the food came out which is definitely a pet peeve of mine. The dry rub wings were grilled and I had no clue, so thats partly my fault, but I feel like grilled is usually listed on the menu. Oysters were fine but my date usually has them with Tabasco and they had none which was kind of odd. And then they forgot all about the cauliflower, we waited til he checked in on us to ask about it but by that time we were done with our food and didnt even want it anymore. Drinks were fine. Sadly a terrible experience at a place that I've been a few times before and usually enjoyed.

Went here with a group of friends. We went on a Monday evening and had reservations. We were able to pick inside or patio upon arriving. We ended up picking the patio because it was nice out but towards the end of us dining it started to rain, gotta love Mn weather. We started with drinks and a few apps. I got the slushy - which was a blue raspberry one - not sure what liquor it had in it but it was really good. For apps we got the buffalo cauliflower and cheesecurds. Both apps were really good so I was hopeful for the entrees. I got "the Rachel" turkey sandwich with fries. It was good but I probably wouldn't order it again the bottom of the bread got really mushy won't the pickles and other toppings making it a bit messy to eat. Someone else ordered a blt and asked for the bacon to be cooked crispy, basically burnt and when it came out some of the pieces looked like they were barely cooked. I've been here a time before and kind of recall liking some of the things we tried. I would definitely come back again to try other items and the drinks were good. It's a cute restaurant. Our waiter was also pretty good.

Split a Rachel and French Dip! Awesome!

My buddy and I were in Minneapolis to see Frank Caliendo at ACME and it is only about a five minute walk to Freehouse. I sat and the atmosphere is upscale casual and I ordered an Imperial IPA. Good beer and then we decided to split a French Dip and Rachel. The sandwiches were huge. One half would probably be fine for a meal. Good homemade chips to go with my second beer. Great service. We will be back

This is a pretty solid north loop spot that is a great weekend stop if you don't have reservations. many North Loop restaurants will need some kind of reservation on weekends because they get so busy, but we were able to get in Saturday night at 7:30 with no wait at all. Their menu is quite extensive and they have things ranging from burgers to salads to pasta dishes. Drink menu is original and has some fun cocktails. The wings with the Asian buffalo sauce are my absolute favorite. The flavor is always so tasty and the wings are a good size. We also tried the burger, which was supposed to have some red in the middle and instead was thoroughly cooked. Service was friendly. It is more of an upscale, casual vibe, although you could definitely go quite casual as well.

Wild Mushroom Mac and Cheese

Great place to enjoy a meal outside! I started my meal with a glass of pinot noir and paired it with the wild mushroom mac and cheese which was delicious. Highly recommend this place for a more casual dinner in the North Loop and already can't wait to go back!

We had heard about Prohibition before, and given its historical significance in the Foshay Tower,…read morewe had to check it out! Located inside the Foshay Tower, there's street and valet parking available! We entered through the W hotel lobby and took the elevator up to the 27th floor! We were met by a fun, retro-inspired lounge with many couches and tables available in a 360-degree set up. It has Prohibition-themed decor, but I wouldn't quite call it a speakeasy, as there wasn't any guise to entering or accessing the space. My only critique is that the space is quite dated, but not in a cool way. It could really use an update to the paint and interior to maintain itself as a "destination" versus just another hotel bar with a view. The bartenders were quite friendly and helpful during our visit. We had an Old Fashioned and a Paper Plane during our visit! Both cocktails were absolutely delicious and perfectly made. Now, at around $26 each, I would expect that level. Overall, a cool, historical spot to grab a drink!

I come to MSP often for work, and it's always a challenge to find a decent, healthy meal late in…read morethe evening downtown. Fortunately, the Earth Bowl at Star fits the bill and will probably be a go-to on future trips. It's a nicely seasoned, balanced, and clean-tasting assortment of greens, other vegetables, grains, and optional protein (shrimp was a good choice). And the generous pour of cab sauv complemented it well. Food aside, the space is very inviting and calming (and geometrically interesting, being circular in design), perfect for catching up on some reading during my meal. Service was also pleasant. The only thing is that there wasn't much else on the menu that appealed to me personally, so I'm hoping the bowl isn't something temporary or seasonal. In any case, I look forward to my next visit.

They even have hh in Friday. There's a lot to choose from on the hh menu. My friend and I shared wings, crab cakes, Brussels sprouts, and the whipped feta toast. All were delicious and portions are generous. Wings had a nice crisp and were substantial, not tiny. The whipped feta toast is a sleeper though, and prob the one I enjoyed most. Lots of accoutrements, super tasty. The sidecar was great and so was the Benedictine Manhattan cocktail. Strong but well balanced. We were greeted with a warm and thoughtful welcome, esp considering what's happening in our city rn. Staff were friendly and service was prompt. Nice, upscale ambiance and decor. It makes for a great after work happy hour downtown or a great spot for a more formal date night. Located inside the Indigo hotel. Plenty of on street metered parking on surrounding blocks. Will be back.

Went on Thursday night at 12. Not super a lot of people there. The dance floor was pretty empty…read more Seemed like most people were out on the patio. There were a bunch of different rooms, which all had different music playing. Didn't explore that much. Mostly just out on the patio and on the dance floor, but I saw pool and other bar games. There was also a photo booth, which we used. Overpriced, but I guess you have to expect that from photo booths. Drinks were so cheap ($4)! And good dance music from the DJ. Biggest complaint is that there is only one stall in the bathroom (the rest are urinals). So it was always busy because obviously there are a lot of people who are trying to use the stall. Had to plan your pees.

Had my first experience at The Saloon for Twin Cities Leather Weekend early November!…read more The thing that struck me most is the impressive square footage of the place. It essentially has four-ish connected but separate "chambers." You come in on the corner into the first one which has a typical bar set-up with lots of bar stools to sit at. Further back there's more table-and-chair style seating because it's nearby their kitchen where they serve hot food; there's also a pool table and darts throwing in this section. Deeper in there's a couple more bars in smaller segmented dual rooms, which is nearby the main restroom (there are several, at least three restroom locations inside). Quite a lot of urinals in this establishment, but a lack of stalls to sit and do your business, which was a little frustrating for someone like me whose equipment requires sitting to pee. No gender segregation though, which I'd expect in this day and age of a queer bar, but still nice to see. The final room is by far the largest, as it has a bar but also a large open area like a dance hall and stage. For this particular weekend it was utilized for hosting the contest, but also a puppy mosh (iykyk). Even as big as it was, it was PACKED during the contest portion of the weekend, making it difficult to see or hear the contest. (I think they could use a more up to date sound system.) We got food while we were there, and it was great. I got a BLT for just $9 and it was piled high with bacon- they did not skimp. Eating it all was a challenge for li'l ol' me. Meals come with ruffled chips that are very salty, but you can upgrade to other side options like french fries, onion rings (which my husband did), etc. for $2. The food was honestly affordable, especially for the amount they give you; I think they do this to discourage you from leaving the bar to go somewhere else for food, which is a solid strategy, haha. Parking around here is... tough, as you might expect in downtown. There is a nearby garage though just across the street behind the bar that I think is just $5 for evenings? I'm sure I'll be back for future events. I myself am not a casual bar-goer, so I don't really go out to these types of establishments unless they're hosting something fun. Always nice when a place is a community gathering space in addition to their regular business. I appreciate this place exists and serves the queer/kink community in that way.
