The only thing that I would say is that I wish I made more money to visit on more than just a special occasion. The food was outstanding in flavor and portions. The service was excellent and so attentive. My entire family was satisfied with how our steaks were cooked and would love to return. The only thing keeping it at 4 stars is that I just can't quite reason with all of the prices, but I do appreciate the work that went into the fresh and home cooked vibes. I've never done this but our dinning experience was SO BAD that I must. HEY The Fat Chef as a tip, you should make sure the locals are happy instead of the rude out of town bikers that you entertained last night. We wanted to celebrate my husbands birthday with a nice dinner and had our 7 year old with us. The table of 8-10 loud, drunk, obnoxious, fowl mouth bikers in the small restaurant wasn't what we expected when we sat down to pay over $200 for a meal for 2. By the time our food had arrived we were so disgusted of hearing them we decided to ask for to go boxes and leave. The waitstaff apologized several times for their patroons behavior without us even saying anything but YET did nothing to make it right (even after they gave the big low class biker group some FREE onion rings from the chef). Are we at a bar on Dickson or Eureka? NO WE ARE NOT. So I'm not sure why a "supposedly" upscale, 5 star restaurant would allow this behavior to keep on, but they did. In fact they rewarded in IMO. The worst was after we left we called them, the owner said she WAS OUR WAITOR and apologized AGAIN but then her chef husband did offer to comp our meal if we drove back with the receipt .......WAIT A MINUTE, YOU ARE THE OWNER AND HAD THE POWER TO MAKE IT RIGHT TO US THAT WHOLE TIME BUT YET DIDNT. Wow, now I have even more disgust for the way you run your business and treat your customers. I eat upscale a LOT for work...here's a tip when you overcharge for fine dinning it should come with a pleasant, safe, enjoyable, family environment to match and enjoy the meal in. And when you have customers in that are loudly throwing F bombs out with every other word, YOU SHOULD SAY SOMETHING TO THEM. And at a MINIMUM make it right to the customers that were offended. Good luck growing your business treating your customers this way. And I have nothing against bikers before someone blasts me for that. My daddy is a biker and doesn't display this kind of behavior so I'm not trying to categorize "all bikers" are bad, could tell by their accents and actions these people were clearly from up north and not locals. read more

Hate to give this rating. Food and ambiance is a 1 star but the waiter was nice and it's a family owned business so I'm giving it an overall 2 star. Prior to going, menu, pictures and ratings looked promising. Prices are high but thought the food must be great. We had an amazing dinner at The Fat Chef! Everything we ate was incredible. (And we ate a lot!) We started out with both the Crab Rangoon Dip appetizer and the Beef Wellington appetizer and both were delicious. For my entree, I ordered a 6 oz filet and it was cooked to perfection. The flavor was amazing and it was served with a side salad with homemade dressing, a starch (I had a baked potato) and a vegetable. It was a perfect entree. We ended our meal with both the Vanilla Creme Brûlée and the Bread Pudding and both were amazing. We also ordered the house wine and it was delicious! The restaurant is so cute and the staff is really friendly. We loved our experience at the Fat Chef and we are so thankful to have a restaurant like this in our neighborhood! read more

Our experience was excellent. We were in from out of town. Looked it up online on a whim and sometimes you get lucky and reserve the last table available on a Friday evening. The food and service were as promised, top notch! So do note it is priced accordingly like a fine steakhouse. Spinach dip was delicious as were the scallops and the ribeye. The dichotomy between prime tailored food and service, and then the casual atmosphere was, frankly, refreshing. Easy and transparent to see from the reviews and website. We enjoyed it all. I've struggled with this review for a long time because I couldn't put my finger on what it was I felt i was mising and It was right in front of my eyes, CHEF. I already knew that it was going to be "fine dinning and it would be expensive" and for the occasion, that was fine. For us, our party of 8, we've decided for what it is, its a one and done. My opinion is your paying $$$$$ for the "chef" to cook your meal and the meal is not in line with what a particular food cost. Steak is steak and whatever you do to or add to pasta is still pasta and it has a ceiling no mater what you do to it unless and apparently a chef cooks it. No pasta plate is worth $65, least expensive menu item. My wife and I both make killer pasta dishes and our grilled steaks with charcoal at home generally keep us from eating these things out. We didn't go to be "cheap" we had an idea what we were in for, almost warned it was expensive. We were really expecting a 1st class experince, course's, explanations of the food and a chefs plating of the food. Instead it was grilled, fried or boiled and spooned or spatula on our plate.. We do things like this from time to time for special occasions and we really enjoy the experience but in all honesty never really as disappointed as much as this. This is a very black tie $$$$ menu with a $ ambiance atmosphere for where it is and what it is. Like I said I dont eat steaks out and I didn't here either this evening and with our tip it was a $180/$200 meal. With all the rave of cooking shows, I knew that every eatery would bring out the "chefs" and the prices would correspond. There are food truck chefs and barista chefs and cafe chefs and then there are designer chefs of food. There is great food in the rogers area without the chef title and the unnecessary expense because of that title of chef and the misrepresentation of what you expect from a chef, fine, unique, explanations of what your plate is( how long the meat is aged, what if any wine is the dressing made with, just fun informative facts about your personal meal either from the chef or the waiter/waitress bringing food and most importantly plating. If you're going use the "chef" with the price, "be" the chef with the price and make it special and worthy other wise it does the industry a disservice and its nothing more than chef boyardee that no one wants. You have to admit, tv has projected the fine dinning chef and tv has brought out more chefs than ever before so with that being said give your patrons that experince that we're looking for and you'll get the experience you're looking for. I will return. Delicious food and friendly service. I had stuff mushroom and lobster&crab wontons as appetizers. Corn soufflé is a must order. Medium Ribeye with French fries and baked squash (the way the fat chef prepare the squash is unique and tasty). Clam chowder has plenty of ingredients in it. Overall the dining experience was great. So good!!!!! We never knew it was here, but now we go about once a month. It's a little on the expensive side, but the portions are good - we always have a little left over for lunch the next day - and the food is some of the best we've ever had. The desserts are delicious. We've split a dessert and taken some home for later. Everything we've tried has been delicious. Make sure you have reservations because it can get busy. read more

The menu looked delicious and promising, but we were very disappointed. There were seven of us there for brunch. I ordered the Monte Cristo. After about 10 minutes, the server came out and said they were out of that. I wondered that it took that long to figure that out, and thought that obviously they don't make them in house. So, I ordered tenderloin eggs benedict. We got our food 1or 2 plates at a time. Some of us were almost done by the time others were served. We had to ask for refills of coffee. My "tenderloin" was a small, 1/16 inch thick piece of processed, flavorless meat, hidden under a sunny side up egg. The English muffin was not toasted. The sauce was flavorless, everything needed salt, and all of it was only slightly warm. My dish was one of the last to come out, so I didn't send it back to get warmed up. My brother's biscuits and gravy were cold. He sent his back and got a hot plate back, minus the seasoning and garnishes that were on the first one. The french toast was nothing special - just plain french toast for 12 dollars. The Belgian waffle was thin and dark brown, and the berries were dry. The burger and fries and crepes were good. The second person that ordered biscuits and gravy threw up after leaving, and said he thought maybe the sausage wasn't quite done. I had stomach cramps and spent 20 minutes in the bathroom. My niece felt nauseated. Owing to the hit or miss food, the poor service, the higher prices, and the upset stomach, I will not be going back to this restaurant. read more

Meh, probably won't be back. This place is priced WAY out of its range - they do not match the quality, flavor or ambiance. The desserts were good but not on par with a fine dining restaurant. We had steak and it was not cooked evenly, the pasta was bland and the crab cakes were dry. The food overall lacks flavor and is fairly plain. I appreciate a smaller, local business giving it a go; just wish they wouldn't try so hard to be a fancy place because it doesn't match the experience. We have been blessed with opportunities to eat at fine dining restaurants all over the globe and this just isn't it and in fact doesn't come close even though they have linen napkins and a fancy font on the menu. To say this place is AMAZING is a understatement... We had the filet and ribeye that you could cut with your fork, this was the first steak in my life that I didn't use any ketchup or steak sauce on. We were so excited to try this! The hospitality was warm and welcome and the food was delicious. There is not a full bar, which was a surprise, so you're limited to beer and wine. While the food was good, it was not amazing, and for the prices, I would expect amazing. The ambiance is also fine, but kind of lake/lodge-y, and without a full bar, and slight distance from everything else, they should really re-consider their price points. For those price points, the customer should expect to receive the whole package - food, ambiance, drinks, location, etc. read more

It feels like you are eating at a restaurant where good friends are serving you. I got the prime burger....maybe the best burger I've ever eaten, and I've eaten ALOT! I didn't want to leave a review but I was bothered by my experience at the Fat Chef all weekend. I totally feel taken advantage of. This place is pretty expensive so maybe I just expected more. First the table and chairs all had pretty extreme wobble to them. Seriously the table probably had 4-5 inches of up and down movement at the ends. I thought my chair was broken when I sat down but apparently they were all like that. Next, our waiter seemed lost. He spoke softly and it was pretty loud so maybe there was some miscommunication but there were a ton of mix ups. He spent a whole minute and a half explaining the homemade salad dressings to my wife and then brought her the wrong one. Several of our meals were mixed up. I ordered the ribeye and no lie it was 50% fat. It was absolutely delicious but maybe only a 3/4 inch thick cut at a cost of $54. Not consistent with the other two ribeyes at the table. It was pathetic. I also ordered the fried shrimp in addition to the steak and it was a flavorless shrimp tempura. I left hungry. Finally, I was told they were out of the corn soufflé but then I was charged for it. I was also charged for an appetizer that I didn't order. Absolutely my mistake for not checking before we left but we were celebrating a birthday and I just wanted to leave. The fat chef is way out of the way and we were super excited to journey out and give it a shot. We left hungry and felt they overcharged us. I can't imagine going back. read more

They set the bar high when they claim to be the best in steaks and seafood. I am sure most people give this restaurant a high rating. My wife and I went and found the prices were very high. The wait time for the food was long. Onion rings great, salads great the rib eye steak was too tough to eat. This is where this restaurant misses the boat. Every restaurant will sometimes have a bad meal, its how this is handled that can make or break the experience for the customer. I found the management did not take criticism well. Offered poor excuses and made the customer feel it was somehow their fault. When you set the bar high, there are no excuses. Just because a meal is expensive does not make it taste any better. It wasn't the bad steak it was the way management handled things that caused me to give it an average rating. read more
