Lived here 10+ years and finally decided to try Catfish John's! (My son loves catfish...me not so much) However they have chicken which was a win for me! You order at the counter and they will bring your food and drinks to you. Food was hot and fresh! Didn't have to wait long for it either. Very relaxed, casual and clean! The coleslaw tasted homemade and was so good we bought some extra to bring home with us! The chicken isn't your typical chicken tender...it's nice chunks of chicken deep fried to perfection! Very good catfish & their pinto beans are truly so good. The only drawback are only 3 hushpuppies and would be so nice if they put an extra couple tablespoons of slaw on the plate. Their hushpuppies are never greasy, they are the best. It's just not enough for our taste buds, they are so good. The green tomato relish is also excellent. The food was excellent! Best catfish around. I asked if the beans had pork in them and the server said, "it used to but we stopped putting it in with all the people coming down with Alpha Gal." My first time here as I recently moved here. The place has a very simple diner feel to it. You walk up to the counter and order and pay and they deliver all the food to your table. The service is very friendly and professional. You can tell the staff really do care about what they are doing. The food comes out pretty quickly. The catfish has an nice batter and seasoning. The fish is plump and cooked Perfectly. The fries and hush puppies are a little above average as is the pickles. I did not care for the slaw. This was a very good meal for a very good price. I remember growing up and heading out to fish before the sun even came up. Catching our own catfish to have a big fish fry the next day. That doesn't happen so much anymore so, as I do love catfish I try it at a different places here and there it's not really anywhere around here much that I much care for their catfish really there's not much around here to have it but this place does and it is really good I love it. The Pickled Tomatoes wow they're so good next time I go I may have to get a jar to bring home just saying you may just want to go ahead and grab one while you're there instead of like me now I'm going to have to go back and grab one but that's okay because I'm going to go back there and have me some more of that catfish and Hush Puppies oh they're so good and try out the fried okra while you're there it's really good also enjoy and if you have too much just drop it off here at the house for me I'll take care of it for you no problem. read more

This place has just gone downhill over the years. The fish is still good but the atmosphere is terrible. The high chairs are broken and covered in some kind of nasty tar that our baby wipes couldn't get off. You are served on styrofoam plates. People are nice, although they refused to make a grilled cheese for our son who won't eat any fish, even though they have buns and cheese in the building. And the cost does not justify the quality of food. We ate at a nice fish restaurant in town two days prior and spent the same as we spent here, and at the nice restaurant we had beautiful salad and fresh veggies with our fish. read more

Well, Yelp said this place had the best catfish in NW AR, and I agree. 3 of us dined here last . The line was out the door. (Only because you have to order and pay up front. If they were to change this concept, they could avoid the line). So we ordered, all specials of 1 kinds or another, all catfish & other items. What a meal. Well.... I want to love this place ... but I can NOT!! I've been told this is the best catfish place in the area - and perhaps it was.... once upon a time.... We've stopped here to eat several times over the past 3-4 years (10? 12? times)... first few times it was better than average. But the past several visits have been disappointing! Hard, tasteless, very greasy hush puppies. Over-battered, dry, over cooked catfish. Cold fries (obviously frozen - crinkle cut) and cooked quite a while ago. Dried out, wilted onion slices. Stopped by last night because I was really craving fried catfish. We stopped in 45 minutes before their closing time. It was us and one other couple in there. We were greeted and proceeded to order at the counter. We both got the 5 piece fish with fries, puppies, and slaw for about $11 each. They do have a family meal that comes with 10 fish but we didn't think of getting one and just splitting it. We each added onions and picked tomatoes and a drink for all around $29. I would have given a 5 star rating if my fish came fresh out of the fryer. Even though it was not freshly made, it still tasted great! Most places over fry the fish which causes it to be so dry. The meat was still juicy and I was impressed! I also enjoyed all of the sides too! The staff was friendly and asked us about 3 times if we needed anything. This was the best fried catfish I have had (disclaimer: I have only had fried catfish one other time at Famous Dave's, it was over-fried and had too much breading) This was recommended to me by a local, so I was really excited to come here and get some true Southern food. The catfish platter is a great deal - for $8.25, you can 5 pieces of catfish, coleslaw, fries (or a baked potato), and 3 hushpuppies. The catfish pieces were large, light, flaky, and overall, just awesome. The coleslaw and fries were just okay (glad they weren't better because I would've eaten them all), and the hushpuppies were amazing - crispy on the outside and soft inside. I also got the corn nuggets, which was sweet corn (possibly a bit creamed), deep fried in batter. You got about 10 pieces for $2.95. I had never had them before, and I loved them. Great prices, large portions, and excellent food. I'll definitely be back here again on my next trip to Arkansas. read more
