Get the Hog Chop. NGL, the best pork chop I've had to-date. It was so tender and juicy with the right amount of fat. Cooked perfectly. They said they've been partnering with a local supplier for years. And it really shows in the quality. It's in a museum. So finding it was a little difficult at first, not knowing what to look for. But once inside, it's a pretty awesome scene. Will be back for sure. read more

Got takeout. Paccheri pasta was pretty good. Wish they'd put it in more of a container-type thing though. They put it in a foldable box and it was awkward to eat. With these type of desserts, I always feel that restaurants should match the surface area between warm/cold. The ambience of this restaurant was very lively and it was very beautiful inside. On a plus side it was inside a very artsy hotel with arts hanging all over their walls which as someone who loves art this place really resonated with me. Drinks were also really good. Food that I got was unfortunately very average in taste and not very flavorful it also took a bit long for my food to arrive. Another great restaurant from the 21C family - this time featuring NWA cuisine with locally sourced ingredients perfectly curated. The ribeye is the dish to try - the steak is tender, flavorful, and perfectly seared (get it medium rare) with a side of roasted potatoes. If you are in the mood for something lighter, go for the seabass, which is perfectly tender and packed with a burst of flavor. I would highly recommend getting a side of the fries or garlic parmesan potatoes to share, as well. The apps are also quite solid - try the pimiento cheese spread or the ricotta, both of which come with a side of toast slices. The seating is relaxed and spacious, with an open kitchen and an airy ceiling. The staff are also very helpful and friendly, which helped as we picked out what to order. Had Thanksgiving dinner with a friend. We both had the beef short rib, green bean casserole, pumpkin bisque, an appetizer, bread and pumpkin pie with buttermilk ice cream. I had the squash with duck and risotto appetizer. It was very good. The pumpkin bisque was tasty, although my dinner companion did not care for his. The short rib was mediocre and lacked good flavor. The rolls were not anything special. We thought they were store bought although our waiter assured us they were homemade - if so, back to the drawing board. Same for the corn muffins, Jiffy does it better. The pumpkin pie tart was lacking flavor, was hard and just unappealing. Neither of us took more than one bite. The star of the show was the green bean casserole. It was rich, comforting and full of flavor. The rest of the meal was below average and disappointing. Wait staff was accommodating, knowledgeable and thoughtful. Great job. Ambience was nice. The lighting was good and background music pleasant. The art, while innovative, was all homosexual themed and completely inappropriate for families with children. Our overall experience was lack luster and it is doubtful we dine at The Hive again. We got appetizers to split and they came out portioned into two separate bowls and plates. Really appreciated that! Complimentary corn bread and butter was good too. It's in the 21c hotel and has the fun green penguins randomly placed. Hotel guests pass through the hallway to get to the front desk but wasn't too distracting. Squash soup: 2 I don't know what happened, but mine was extremely salty. The other portion of squash soup was fine. We tasted each others and something went wrong with the salt. Gem lettuce salad: 3 Dressing was too acidic for both salad portions. Salmon: 5 Really good flavors. Well executed. Wagyu: 5 Really well done. Worst bar service ever! We were given water and drink menus and then ignored by 2 young women who just stood there talking about many other things, making eye contact, yet never came over. The 3rd woman who was already working her butt off came over to take the order and then the others helped to make the drinks. These 2 should be strongly coached about their complete lack of customer service. The service and food in the restaurant was ok. Good wine selection, dishes were good but not a 5 star meal and definitely not worth going back. Also, if your customers are sitting with winter jackets on, you may want to adjust the temperature. The atmosphere at Hive was stylish and inviting, and the setting definitely lived up to expectations. Unfortunately, the service experience did not match. When I asked a simple question about what made the fries accompanying the ribeye "spicy," our server responded with a series of questions rather than a straightforward answer, including asking if I had issues with nightshades and what level of heat I tolerate on the Scoville scale. The interaction felt unnecessarily complicated and somewhat condescending. After checking with the kitchen, she said the fries could be made without the spice, so I ordered the dish. However, she then informed me that the ribeye itself had a chili rub, requiring another trip to the kitchen. While they ultimately said it could be prepared without the rub, I was told it would significantly delay the order. When the steak finally arrived, I was disappointed with the amount of fat on it, much more than the typical marbled ribeye. Overall, while the ambiance was enjoyable, the service created friction in what should have been a simple ordering process. A more direct and customer-friendly approach would have made a big difference. 21C hotels have always been a favorite of mine. I love all of the artwork everywhere. Everything always feels really well thought out. We didn't have time to come here for dinner, which I regret, but we were able to stop in for drinks. The bourbon drinks that were recommended to us were so good, and had so much flavor and complexity to them. The service was phenomenal - by far the best we've seen in Bentonville. We were the first table there right when they opened 5:30 Friday night, there was not another table until almost 7! The first thing to come out was the homemade cornbread and it was completely cold, once again first table at time of opening. We only came to the hive for pre/post dinner cocktails and breakfast in the morning. The bar gets quite crowded in the evening but we were able to get a table on both Friday and Saturday night for after dinner drinks. Breakfast in the morning was buffet only but it was pretty well outfitted. They had yogurt, granola, berries, bagel, toast, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, grits and bacon. My only complaint is this - despite quite a few empty tables we were seated next to EVERYONE in the restaurant. Some tables were LOUD. We were trying to have a nice quiet dinner and it was loud because of others conversations. Super annoying when restaurants do this to make it easier for the servers. Omg it is not a big place. Giving some space between tables would have not made much difference to the servers. I don't think I would recommend based on this. We stayed at 21c for two nights and visited the Hive both days for various meals and drinks. It's not just simply bad service and bad, tasteless food. It's comically bad. Like, it seems as though there is an intention behind how bad and weird the service is. It's not just that the staff seems poorly trained. It's as if the staff has never been to a restaurant before or seen one on tv or ever heard of what a restaurant is. They seem startled that you might need water or something. Like as if you just asked a stranger on the street if he could get you some water. Same energy. Not just slow millenial hipster service. Awkward, out of place, am I being punked type service. Like I asked for salt and the guy said okay, then bussed the table next us, instead of going to get the salt. Just weird. All the food is terrible also. I had their ribeye and it was seriously just like someone just took a piece of untrimmed fatty meat, no seasoning, threw it on a grill, overcooked it then put it on a plate. See what I mean, it's bizarre. Anyone who has ever cooked anything before would know maybe some salt of something, right? The coffee is also terrible. It tastes like there is a cleaning agent in it. And maybe there is. Maybe they clean the coffee pots with cleaner then don't rinse it and just fill it with coffee. One day I went to the bar to get a glass of wine. The only two people in the whole area were me and the bartender. She was cleaning something in the sink when I approached. She looked at me, said hi, then continued to clean the thing she was cleaning while I just sat there. Somehow she had calculated that it's more important to clean that thing than it is to attend to a paying guest. Finally she finished and then took her time making her way over to me to ask me what I wanted, I wanted one glass of wine. She told me to have a seat and she will bring it to me. Why? The bottle and glass are right there. Why can't she just pour it and had it to me? I asked for a bottle of wine from room service on Friday night and I was told that they were closed. At 10pm on a Friday night. They invite you to come have a "late night sip" from 8pm to midnight. It's on ten million little flyers they hand you then tell you there are closed. Again, it's as if this place is run my people who have never even heard of the concept of what a restaurant and bar are. If you decide to go, I recommend you approach this place like you would Ed Debevics. Just know going into it that it's bad on purpose. Bad for the fun of it, maybe. read more

Perfect spot for 6 of us to have a social dinner during a business planning weekend retreat. REALLY appreciated the vegan options on the menu and that everything was fresh and seasonal. (I think my favorite thing might have been the grits?) The green lentil hummus was better (IMO) than the popular pimento spread app. We loved the mocktails too! We had a wonderful breakfast here on Saturday and a lovely brunch on Mother's Day! Breakfast on Saturday was perfect. Our bacon came out way too crispy, so we ordered another serving cooked medium and got it extra crispy again. The 3rd time was the charm. Mother's Day was a little slow on service. They didn't seem that busy @ 10:45 am, but it took 90 minutes or more to get through the three courses. We were hoping to be done by noon, but the food was really good both days. I had the power bowl with chicken and my husband had the Benedict with the fries. There was absolutely no flavor in my power bowl NONE and my husband's Benedict the egg whites were gross and runny never have we had eggs barely cooked. They also asked if we have reservations at 10:30 in the morning on a Saturday two couple before us didn't have reservations and they walked them in asked us if we had reservations and we said no and said we have to wait for 10 minutes mind you the place has lots of seats and was pretty empty! Had dinner here last night with a group of 10. Food was fantastic. I imagine between the group we hit on all the menu items and everyone was pleased with their choices. Standout items: baked ricotta appetizer, hog cutlet entree and chocolate tart dessert. And as an added bonus the green apple cotton candy! The waiter Britton was super knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant and all the menu options. We shared 3 of the 4 appetizers on the menu; American Cheese Plate, hummus and the aforementioned baked ricotta. We also shared 3 of the desserts; lemon cheesecake, pecan pie, and aforementioned dark chocolate tart. The restaurant is part of the 21C museum hotel and you can wander around the museum as well. Recently brought my team here for a celebratory meal and really enjoyed the experience. Definitely make a reservation for dinner as this place is popular. Our group of 5 was asked to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready, which actually worked out because there is some incredible modern art to look at in the lobby outside the restaurant as you're waiting. The food here wasn't revolutionary, but the flavor profiles were spot on and the ingredients are definitely quality. We wanted to eat family style and chef was nice enough to plate everything together on a beautiful serving dish so we could all taste and share. He threw an extra entree in which was a nice touch as well. The service was a bit slow, but still friendly and mostly attentive. This is a great place to eat when you're in the area but it wasn't perfect. I'd eat here if invited no questions asked, not sure if I need to rush back though. read more

Ugh, The HIVE! I took a trip to Arkansas with some friends for a much needed spring vacation, and my request was obviously that we try a few restaurants while down there. Part of the 21C chain of restaurants, The Hive is set in an art gallery that's set in a hotel. The sculptures of bees and honeycombs on the walls add to the experience. Our waitress was friendly. We mentioned being from Minnesota, and she was also from the Midwest, so that's always a treat. The food was, as expected, phenomenal. A stand out was the chicken gizzards. I had gone in wanting to try them, and the friends I was with weren't very eager initially. They came out on skewers, smothered in different sauces, and we were all won over. Everything was locally sourced! If I ever find myself back in Bentonville, I will be back at the Hive. read more
