Stopped here on a high recommendation from a formal local. We were excited to eat in a converted church. The exposed structure inside was beautiful, as were the windows. The exterior, not quite as sexy as the interior. We sat and stuffed our faces silly with the following: Peach - fromage blanc, serrano ham, pistachio, endive - mmmm, this was a very lovely appetizer to start our dinner. Parisian Gnocchi - blistered tomato, whipped ricotta, parmesan, nduja - mmm, the whipped ricotta was a good touch. To be honest here, I have no idea what a "Parisian" gnocchi is or how it differs from an Italian one. What I do know is that I, personally, would have loved more of a material contrast, maybe larger nduja pieces or possibly, more breadcrumbs or maybe a lightly toasted gnocchi. Duroc Pork Chop* - sweet corn elote, feta cheese, red pepper coulis, breadcrumb - the chef adjusted for my friend's gluten and nightshade allergies. The result was a decent pork chop but definitely not as juicy or gravy laden as deserved to be. Salted Caramel Ice Cream - my friend loved every bit of her ice cream w/ salted caramel sauce Chocolate Crumble - basically a cookie base, a scoop of ice cream with a toffee sauce - SO GOOD! The cookie at the bottom of the vessel is baked crispy, I LOVE it! We parked down the street and took a block and a half walk back to the car to walk off our dinner chub. Service was wonderful, our server Lindsay was super helpful and knew the menu like the back of her hand. We were really looking forward to dining at The Preacher's Son, especially after hearing good things about it. Unfortunately, while the service and ambiance were very good, the food and portion sizes left us disappointed. There were four of us, and we each had an alcoholic drink, all of which were good. We started with two appetizers: the guacamole and the burrata. The guacamole was tasty, but the portion was surprisingly small. The burrata dish was very salty--not just from the prosciutto that was part of the dish, but overall. We were celebrating a couple of birthdays, and the restaurant kindly brought us two complimentary appetizers, charred carrots and a gem lettuce salad. We appreciated the gesture, and both were tasty. Unfortunately, the charred carrots were also quite salty. All four of our entrees tasted good, but the portion sizes ranged from small to extremely small. My blackened salmon was approximately 1¼ inches wide and 3 1/2 inches long. I initially thought part of my entree had been left off the plate but I eventually found the quinoa underneath the salmon--but there was literally less than a tablespoon of it. The other three entrees had somewhat better portions, but all three were also noticeably oversalted. My wife, who adds salt to just about everything, even commented that her dish was too salty, which says something. Our bill was approximately $300 for the four of us before tax and tip. At that price point, I expect significantly better execution, more reasonable portions, and better value. Overall, the service was good, the atmosphere was attractive, and we appreciated the complimentary birthday appetizers. Unfortunately, the food was simply too salty and the portions were far too small for the price. Stopped by the preacher's son on a visit to Bentonville. When you arrive there is plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. The entrance is a bit hidden, as you'll need to walk up a set of stairs to reach the entrance. When you arrive you'll check in with the host before being seated. While there were a few open tables, we were seated tightly in between two groups despite the restaurant being partially full, which definitely took away from the experience. The environment is one of the restaurant's highlights. It is housed in a beautiful restored church. For drinks I ordered the Blood Orange Buck (bourbon, spiced maple, blood orange cider, mint, citrus) which was a well balanced and a fun take on an old fashioned. To start we shared the Burrata (grilled flatbread, green goddess, roasted garlic). While the flavors were good, the portion was surprisingly small and felt underwhelming for the price. For my entree, I ordered a pasta carbonara dish which had good flavor but again the portion size was small like the appetizer. Overall, the quality of food and presentation were strong, and the setting is worth seeing (would lean more towards drinks). However, between the small portions and the seating arrangement, the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. While I'm glad I tried it, I don't see myself returning. read more

Saw the reviews about this restaurant and we had to try it out. Made reservations, which were highly recommended and found ourselves by ourselves at a 5 PM seating, but we are early birds in general. The space filled up within the next hour. Surprised to find a restaurant this caliber without a tasting menu however, the choices were interesting enough that we tried out these strawberry appetizer which combines in season strawberries with a tart cream sauce, and a balsamic vinaigrette, making for a sweet and sour combination The bread, butter combo was very good with the butter being infused with some heat. We went for a pretty standard selection of steak for two which was well prepared and came with a side of mushrooms and potato cakes. Honestly, the winner of the night was the wine. A nice wine list selection that included choices from California, Spain, France. We went with a rioja reserve which was a great pairing. There is no Sommelier or suggested wine pairings on the menu. The service was solid however, once the restaurant filled up, we found ourselves somewhat on our own. The dessert menu had a nice selection, but nothing that jumped out at us. During our visit to town, a neighbor recommended this place to us. At first, I was hesitant since we had my 90-year-old father with us. However, when I saw that they had swordfish on the menu, I knew we had to go, as it's my father's favorite meal. The standout dish, without a doubt, was the kale salad. I normally wouldn't order it, but it was offered to us on the house. I smiled and thanked them, not expecting to enjoy it. To my surprise, we shared it at the table, and it disappeared quickly! Who would have thought kale salad could be so good? Everything we ordered was excellent. I had the flat iron steak, which I really enjoyed, especially the unique twist on broccoli and cheese. The croquettes were also given to us on the house, and everyone at the table liked them. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Really wonderful spot! Gorgeous setting in an old church with high ceilings and stained glass. The service was excellent and super attentive. We started with drinks, I got the Spanish gin and tonic which was good (very light) but my husbands drink (the Silk Road) was for sure the best. I wish I could give this a higher rating than five. We visited this restaurant on Friday, May 15, 2026. We had reservations at 8:30 PM. The ambience and the visual architecture of this place is stunning. It is such an elevated experience, but still down to earth. The staff was incredible. The food was to die for and the drinks were just the same. It's not very often that I give something a perfect review, but I gotta say this place was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend visiting the bar downstairs and having a drink before dinner. They also have a rooftop bar but we were not able to visit it because it was a rainy night. Everything I ate was delish! We started off with the goat cheese crostinis, I honestly could've just eaten that and been satisfied. The meal that my boyfriend and I had at The Preacher's Son is probably the best meal we have enjoyed together. From the ambience, to the drinks, food and dessert everything was superb and left us enjoying each bite. We started with our drinks, him getting the Haiku Garden and I got the In Bloom, which is a nonalcoholic hibiscus margarita. Perfectly sweet and tart. For snacks we had the croquettes and bread. The croquettes were extremely fresh and came out hot. Then the bread was baked perfectly and the scallion butter was extremely flavorful. For entrees he had the flat iron steak and it was served with fresh summer vegetables. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked exactly how he likes it. It cut like butter and each bite seemed to get better. I got the bolognese, the sauce was extremely fresh and it had the perfect amount of sausage in it. We shared potatoes which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. To end off the night we shared the chocolate pot de creme, which is my favorite dessert. The whip cream was extremely light which allowed for the chocolate flavors to be at the front. I have been to nice and experimental restaurants where the food is more focused on being creative flavor wise opposed to just doing food on an elevated level. Everything we had was consistently good, with nothing letting us down. You can taste how the Chef has thoughtfully paired flavors to complement each other rather than to compete. The staff was also very attentive. Our waters were always full, the food was delivered at a good pace to allow for conversation while also not waiting too long. The kitchen also handled our peanut allergy great by verbally confirming that each dish had been prepared safely from allergens. I would love to come back again if I visit the area again, especially to try a new seasonal menu. The burrata comes with a side of fig jam, which gives the dish a sweet twist that elevates it to a new level. For entrees, definitely get the hangar steak, which is very tender and perfectly coated in bordelaise, all served with a size of fries over creamed cabbage. My grandfather actually preached here when it still functioned as a church, so my family is quite proud of it and excited that it is such an excellent restaurant. Came here for Valentine's day and I have to say the vibes are perfect for romantic dinner. The interior being a church is so cute and fun! The service was also pretty good and made the night a very good experience. The food itself was good but not everything was impressive. The waldroff salad was okay, didn't have much interesting flavor for the cost. Additionally, the charcuterie that was offered didn't feel like it was super high quality. However, the lamb and beef we got for our mains were the shining lights. I truly think my lamb was cooked to perfection. Lastly, the cocktails were alright, I think mine tasted very basic but my partner liked theirs a good amount. Overall, I don't know if I would come back but it was a fun experience. read more

Tonight I went to the Under Croft, the speakeasy type bar below the Preacher's son and man will it be tough to try another new place after this! First off, it is a very chill vibe in the basement, very different from upstairs and what you would expect from a high end speakeasy. They nailed it, I could spend all night down there. I tried two drinks from the menu, both were recommended by the bartender, Caleb, based on my preferences that I told him and his recommendations were spot on, they were so freaking good. After chatting with him a while he made me some custom cocktails based on what I liked and they were dangerously good! We made a reservation at 5pm (when they open) so we were seated quickly. The ambiance is quite charming and unique, and I loved the window art and overall vibe. I was a little disappointed that there were only 2 non-alcoholic mocktails offered, one a zero proof margarita and the other something with orange bitters (I chose that one). The appetizer we ordered was AMAZING. We ate every single delicious bite. The entrees were less impressive. We ordered the Monk Fish cioppino and the carbonara. The monk fish cioppino was good, but it came with an almost inedible piece of toast. It was overtoasted and extraordinarily difficult to bite. You had to let it soak in the sauce to soften it enough to take a bite. That said, the dish was tasty. The carbonara was a smaller than expected portion (especially for the price) and while the pasta was cooked well, the dish was a salt bomb. It was delicious, rich, decadent but too salty to finish. Perhaps some acid could have helped, but as is I wouldn't recommend it. My husband over salts every thing in my opinion and even he found it too salty to eat. My husband had two draft IPAs, I had on mocktail, we split an appetizer, and each ordered an entree, and our bill was $135, but we didn't feel it was a $135 experience. So I am conflicted--I am glad we went, we loved the vibe and concept, but we probably won't go back. Absolutely a five-star gem in Bentonville. The space itself is stunning. They have repurposed a former church that celebrates its architecture while also creatively adjusting the space for an airy, yet intimate dining experience. I would absolutely encourage you to make reservations (on their website) as this place is certainly popular, for good reason. The service is outstanding from the hostess who greeted me to the waiter who served me and the manager who checked in on me during my visit. I started with a special appetizer, the local peaches. They came with salami and cheddar on a bed of honey mustard. It set the standard for my meal with its fresh flavors and creative combination. I then went for the fettucine, which was fresh and topped with a wild boar ragout, burrata, parmesan and basil. It was a well-sized portion of melt-in-your-mouth bites. I ended the meal with the lemon ice cream, which is topped with a blueberry compote and a thyme shortbread. I also enjoyed a glass of pinot grigio, which was a nice ample pour. The food was flavorful and prepared with care and precision.
