This is definitely the best hot chicken place in the area I've tried so far! Sometimes places make their hot chicken too salty when they increase the spice level, but this place does it right! Their fries are great as well (similar to five guys fries). The staff is all nice. The food won't come out as quick as a fast food option but that's because it comes out hot and fresh! Food was excellent! Three piece tenders nice and juicy ordered with the cheesey grits, if you like grits these were amazing! Chicken sandwich was amazing super juicy and the bun was really good. Everything was made to order so was served HOT. All kinds of level of hot if that is your jam. Didn't get 5 stars because of floor in the sitting area. Super slippery. A new hot chicken place is a welcome addition to just outside downtown Roger's on Walnut. I arrived around 3:30 to take home dinner and was the only customer at that time. The place is decorated in mostly Razorback sports photos. With their help I ordered a half chicken on the medium heat. They said it would take about 18 minutes, it was almost 25. I also ordered potato salad and bake beans. I was not a fan of the skin and breading and removed it. The chicken was moist, flavorful but no real heat. I just have to say, the sides were just not good. I couldn't eat either and I am a huge fan of both potato salad and baked beans. I will try the tenders next time. read more

This new spot popped up on Yelp today when I was looking for some lunch. It's replaced the old eye sore that was the old along John Silvers. I love hot chicken and this certainly hit the spot. This is definitely not a fast food place. The food is cooked to order, so it's nice and hot when it comes out of the kitchen. The portions are huge. Unfortunately it's a case of quantity over quality. The boneless breast was about what you would expect. The wings are ginormous (bigger than most leg quarters), but that's not a good thing. The meat is very tough and stringy, the skin is rubbery, the flavor from the seasoning doesn't make it past the skin, and the breading all falls off when you pick it up. Seating is extremely limited, and the floors look and feel like they've been mopped with crisco. The night I went in they were out of most of their drink options (who would want a drink with HOT chicken though, right?) but don't worry, whether you got a drink or not you got to pay for one. Jake's Hot Chicken is a family-owned, local restaurant that may just have the best fried chicken in Northwest Arkansas. The food is freshly cooked, and the staff will give you a time estimate on how long it will take based on what you order. We ordered two tenders combos and one white quarter combo. The quarter meals take about 18 minutes to cook, but it was SO worth it! You select your level of "hot" from six options, ranging from "Southern" (no heat) up to "Mount St. Helens". I had the medium heat and it was just enough to give me the kick without setting my mouth on fire. The portions are substantial, and the prices are low for what you get, especially when compared to other restaurants in the area. The restaurant is in the old Long John Silvers building and has 10 or 12 tables. Very clean and the staff were fun and attentive. We will be ordering carry out and visiting again soon! read more
