We stopped in for lunch on a Friday. My mother-in-law is local but hadn't been there before. We found the place to be truly enjoyable, with the nicest of folks! The food was great, too. We shared the fried okra appetizer, and every morsel was crispy, hot, and perfect. I had the chef's salad; everything was fresh and delicious, and it really hit the spot. My mother-in-law liked her French dip sandwich with tots, and my husband had the two-piece fish with tots and enjoyed it. Really, this was such a homey place. Just had a delicious breakfast with my husband. He had the Cowboy, with scrambled eggs, ham, hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy. I enjoyed a veggie omelet with tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms, onions and bell peppers, topped with cheddar cheese. Also included with my meal were delicious fresh hashbrowns and raisin toast. Had a delicious lunch today with my hubby. I opted for the "Chefs Salad," but substituted the ham and turkey for the locally smoke brisket. They provided a generous serving of lettuce, tomato, and egg, and the brisket was smokey, tender, and outstanding. My hubby ordered the Spicy Spur Burger, with their newly acquired Ghost Pepper Jack cheese, and tater tots. He said his burger was better than every other burger he's had in the area and the cheese was super-tasty. He generously shared his delicious tots, and we had an overall scrumptious meal. This place was a little hole in the wall, mom and pop type business and I would definitely go back if I were to return to Arkansas. They had a breakfast buffet with several good options on it, a full menu of options, and several selections for beverages. Our waitress was great! She checked on us several times and was super nice. The food was seasoned perfectly, the biscuits and gravy melted in your mouth, and when I tell you their eggs over medium were cooked perfectly, man they were perfect. The whites were completely cooked, the yolk runny, and it was just perfection. The bacon was the perfect ratio of soft and crispy. Came here while in turn for a wedding. We came at lunch. The lunch menu was all that was an option The owner and waitress were super nice. I had the hot ham and cheese, my brother had the grilled cheese, my sister in law had the open faced sandwich, my mom the chef sandwich, and my dad the club sandwich. Everything was fresh and great. Yuck! The first bite of fried okra I had literally made me gag. The fries and okra had a similar funky taste like everything was fried in super old oil... If you want to go to a place that feels like "grandmas cookin" even when your grandma can't actually cook, this is it. Three words kids......chicken fried steak! My wife and I went there and had the City Slicker breakfast - hers was fried eggs, mine was scrambled. Breakfast was served with a generous portion of chicken fried steak (cooked to utter perfection I might add), perfectly cooked hash browns, and biscuits and gravy. Yelp popped up as notification on Silver Spur - reading thru some reviews decided to contribute my opinion because have eaten there many times. This is a local (rural definition) 'down home cooking' breakfast lunch dinner gem that provides consistently friendly service and good food. It's not gourmet (go to nearby Haven 55 for that) but a well done 'Diner'. In September had 18 in our party - called few days ahead to let them know we were coming and they delivered flawlessly! We are in town, for a float trip. There are 10 of us. We came in, for dinner, at a pretty busy time. We were seated very quickly. Served right away. Two of us have severe food allergies. Upon notifying our server, she and the kitchen, went above and beyond, to accommodate us. The food was delicious but the service really stood out. Having a large party is already a challenge, but with the added food allergens, I know it's really a huge hassle. Not once did we feel like the server (or kitchen) felt it was a hassle. They were incredibly considerate and mindful. Awesome experience. Would definitely visit again, if we come back through town! read more

Given their location, you have to want to go there. I have been there multiple times over the last couple of months for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Less than half have been acceptable. Poor service, no service, average food, lousy food. This place just can't get it together. This morning was strike 3. I'm done hoping this place would succeed. This restaurant is nothing special and not worth the price. Their side of macaroni and cheese is literally just poorly made, Kraft Mac N Cheese. Rolls and side of mashed potatoes also seemed to be pre-made brand food from the store. Definitely not quality worth the near $30 I spent. read more

My wife and I have eaten at the Silver Spur in Jane, MO a total of seven times. Each time the experience and quality have been different. Saturday afternoon we stopped in for an early supper. I had loaded french fries that looked good but weren't that loaded. My wife had chicken strips and a side salad. She had chicken strips here in the past and they were hand breaded.This time they were industrial strips that resembled low quality chicken nuggets. She also had breaded dill pickle slices that had the same industrial breading and look of the so called chicken. Then we were not given our Veteran discount (altho we had in the past) they citing the "computer girl" would have to look at it. We had received it the pasr. now something had changed? At least the service was pretty good.. We have pumped well over $350 into this place only to see the quality steadily erode. And, after $37 for crap on Saturday, and we told them the meals were crap, we're in no hurry to go back. The owner, I presume him to be, could have and should have made it all right but did not. He was eating his own order of not so loaded loaded fries. Frankly, that tells a story in and of itself. read more

I highly recommend the Silver Spur! I am a regular patron of around a year who comes in every Wednesday like clockwork. The servers always know just what I want to drink and where I sit, they pay attention! Not only do they pay attention, all of them are kind and approachable, happy to chit-chat during slower hours and will always make a meal feel like family. Bill - the owner - is a fantastic down-to-earth gentleman with a vision that has manifested as this wonderful establishment. Hes great to talk to, joke around with, and is considerate of both patrons and staff. The cooks make great food and everyone holds themselves to a high standard. My go-to meals are the Shrimp Tacos, Chicken Fried Steak and Cheeseburger, but I've also had the Ribeye and Open-Faced Roast Beef Sandwich. Their steaks are delicious! For dessert, they have a delicious selection of Cobbler and icecream, my favorite is the peach cobbler. I highly recommend checking them out at least once! read more

we had ribeye steaks. pretty gristly and thin. ordered medium. got medium rare. Waitress was lost- brought salads and 10 minutes later, dressing. baked potatoes were hard and little. paid 1.50 more for a tsp of sour cream and a few flakes of cheese. when tickets finally came, half of them were wrong, there was a credit card surcharge on each ticket, irrespective of whether you paid cash or used a card. they had to take tickets back 3 times to correct mistakes. we were supposed to get rolls, no rolls ever appeared. We enjoyed it. Had breakfast and dinner there while I was visiting over the 4th. Both meals were very good! However, I didn't like the coffee . It was weak and lacked flavor but this is just my preference, didn't seem to bother the other patrons. The staff was great, food came out hot. Will be back! read more
