I really wanted to love this meal, I've only had The Embers once before and it was takeout ribs, I thought the ribs were great so I assumed they'd have great breakfasts as well but unfortunately there was nothing great about this meal at all. My man described it as tired and uninspired. The home fries were just potatoes, no onion, no peppers, no flavor. The chicken fried steak is the worst I've had at a restaurant, the steak tasted like a Salisbury steak from a box in the freezer section, it wasn't even chicken fried as far as I could tell, no crispy coating at all, and the gravy was thin and bland, not a sausage in sight. The eggs benny were ok, eggs were a little overcooked, (they weren't poached, they were fried and crispy on the bottom side). With all the other great places in town we won't be going back.

I was meeting with a contractor and he said he knew of a a place with the best steak sandwich to which he had been coming since the 80's. He had not been there for many years but looked promising as we were promptly taken to our table. Service was excellent. We got the food pretty fast and I had noticed they had a wood burning oven so not sure if the steaks are also cooked in there but just looked cool. Steak looked great when it arrived and was cooked properly , medium, as I like. It was flavorful, cooked nicely, and tender but the trimming was not right. Nice New York steak shall have some fat that if rendered well melts in your mouth but I took a bite that I chewed and chewed and could not break down or swallow. I had to spit that out in a napkin so that was not great. My fries were ok not great so they could improve on the quality of their meat and fries. Not the best steak sandwich or the worst one I have had. For the prize it was fine but I was underwhelmed as my expectations where to high coming in, that's my fault not theirs, I guess..... Service: 5 Food: 3 Ambiance: 4

12/26/24 Placed an order through Door Dash for the steak and eggs hash browns crispy eggs sunny side up English muffin grits and orange juice. Did not receive my grits and orange juice called the restaurant immediately@7:09 lady answered I addressed my concerns regarding my missing items her response was "they have 3/4 workers that's making food she's not sure who didn't include my missing items and to contact Door Dash so that I can get a refund" the presentation of the food was horrible my hash browns were far from crispy if anything soggy from the steak being thrown on top of them and salty...UGH!!!!!!

Came here for breakfast, the overall experience is great as always. The servers are like family very welcoming. The smell of food is all over like a home. Come try this place.

Was about to try this place for dinner until I looked up and saw the chef outside in his apron, smoking a cigarette. Will never go there!

We had two kids in our group, which can sometimes be tricky when dining out, but everyone absolutely loved it! We chose to sit outside, and it was beautiful on a warm day. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food did not disappoint. Everything came out fresh and delicious, and we never felt rushed. It made for such a nice family outing, and I'd definitely recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice. We'll for sure be coming back!

There is no one in the place, there are four (high school aged) workers behind the counter. I stood there for a good minute. Not one came over to me. I moved over and got one of their attention since they were not going to come and assist (because you know, they were busy goofing off - there was no adult there). The order was NOT ready in fact, they didn't even make the fries. So they started the fries and I stood there while they were cooked. Why did you tell us it was ready when it wasn't remotely ready? I got my order and left, got home and realized the burrito wasn't there. I went all the way back and they said "we refunded the burrito, it's only served for breakfast" First off the menu does not say this. If it's only served during a certain part of the day THEN SAY IT ON THE MENU. Second, no one thought of letting anyone know it was refunded. Just did and went on about their day of goofing off. The people at the store there couldn't give a flying yahoo when I voiced my displeasure. The last couple times we've been here the service was almost non-existent and the orders are always messed up. And this was the last time. Management will read this and just laugh. They could not care at all. Time for poorly run businesses like this to be done.

Love seeing this spot so lively! Both visits were for apps and sips, but I did notice they added more dishes and variety to the menu for lunch/dinner options. Friendly service, fun atmosphere, and also different rooms within the space pending what your feeling ~ the bar area for drinks/apps, the restaurant space if wanting to truly sit down and have that type of intimate environment too. The Pear Salad has always been my go-to, and happy it's still on the menu. Chopped lettuce, gorgonzola crumbles, candied walnuts, champagne vinaigrette, and pear slices. I also enjoyed the Cheese Please for sharing, which comes with toast, three different cheeses, dried cranberries, pears, candied walnuts, and olives. Can you sense the pear theme? We were heading to a play at the Pinole Community Playhouse (walkable & across the street), but check out Pear Street's fun happy hours, events, and weekly specials. Plenty of restaurant parking in the back too.

One of our party members ordered the Rum Punch. It was overly sweet. Another ordered a drink that was not great at all, sent it back.. only to be told that they do not take back drinks, but made an exception that time. However, if the drink is made wrong or disgusting.. there shouod be understanding around that. We ordered the bottomless Mimosas. It seemed like it was difficult to get a grenadine on the side because I had to constantly ask for it. We had to talk to the manager because our waitress was not consistent with the pouring of bottomless. We lost about 30 to 45 mins of time because of it. The manager understood and granted us more time. I also did not like that fact that our finished plate sat on the table way longer than what they should have. Maybe the waiter was overwhelmed or overworked.

Hidden gem in El Sobrante that serves up some of the best Laotian and Thai food in the Bay Area…read more Every time we visit, must-orders are the Nam Khao (crispy rice ball salad with fermented pork sausage and fresh herbs) and Ka Soy (Laotian noodle soup). If you see Nam Khao on the menu of a Laotian/Thai restaurant, that means they know what they are doing just because it's so labor-intensive to make a salad(!) and the fermented pork has to be damn-near perfect for this salad to really shine and round out the fresh herbs and seasonings which includes lime juice, vinegar, and fish sauce. Ka Soy (the noodle soup) is a comfort food enjoyed in Southeast Asia. It's not the Thai-style where it's a curry broth and the noodles are fried, so let's not get it mixed up. Instead, it's bone broth that been simmered for hours and it's somewhat a lighter broth. The noodles are wide rice noodles in a big bowl of hot broth served with a mixture of ground pork cooked down with tomatoes along with fresh bean sprouts, scallions, and cilantro - simply a divine noodle soup that a must-try. It's not overly complex in terms of flavor, but it's a bowl of good ol' noodle soup that is comforting and great-tasting. If you haven't tried Laotian food, give Sue's Kitchen a try. try some new flavors and you may just become a regular (if you aren't already). The owners are friendly too!
