This man walked out of cork city and was incredibly emotional. Threatening to fight anyone that talked to him. A woman took exception and called him out to which this drunk man proceeded to elbow the woman in the chest (her husband was a coward and didn't do anything). After this the customers at the bar were extremely upset and called the police. Ten minutes later the police showed up and walked the man to the opposite corner. This is where the management/security at Cork City showed their true colors. The Cork City employee (it was said that he was the owner but not sure if that is true) was overheard saying that the person that called the police in the bar would never be allowed back. Cork City itself never called the police to deal with this drunk lunatic. After another 30 minutes it became clear that this man was going to be let off scot-free. The customers outside started to grow restless at this fact and yelled to the police officers that they all witnessed the man assault a woman. During this time to Cork City representative told us that he did not see anything. Everyone outside saw what happened and he refused to hold the drunk man accountable. He was too worried about serving beers and his reputation than ensure the safety of others. This is disgraceful and I would hope nobody that knows this information ever gives them another dime. If you are looking for somewhere to get a nice chill drink in this area I would highly recommend Louise and Jerry's! Much better spot to enjoy a drink.

A mid-80s Mets obsessive who yearns for the days of Mookie Wilson and Bob Murphy, I haven't kept up with baseball so much in recent years. That all-star game tie and DH in the NL didn't appeal to me so much. Game 7 of the World Series provided an opportunity for me to be a "normal American" and watch the game at the bar. But I didn't want to buy $80 of drinks so I figured I'd try for inning 6 and beyond and get the finale. So the plan was Cork City for part and maybe another for the ending. The game was on many TVs, caught that cool double play. The sound was on but the talking kind of drowned it out, which seemed less than ideal. However, after I left, none of the 30-ish bars I walked past even had the sound on! So much for all the "sports bars" in this town. (To be fair: it was Halloween weekend, and business decisions to appeal to 20-something women in lingerie and their admirers may have been a factor). After going to 14th and back I was ready to enjoy extra innings at Cork City. But they were at capacity. Game Over. Yes, I'm copping to my inexperience in Hoboken bar-going. Turns out Cork City offered the best baseball experience in town. As for the bar itself, I enjoyed the Peach Fuzz cider from Pennings. The service was friendly. I'll try again on an off-peak night. My plan didn't work out but at least I got some steps in and learned that many sports fans are liars.

The complimentary focaccia starter - delicious. When our meals arrived even my kids (teens are never impressed) said they were worthy of being photographed. (And they tasted even better.) One kid went with the pork chop and the way he devoured the Brussel sprout-bacon-apple side I think he forgot that he doesn't even like green vegetables. His brother dug the sliders but wasn't blown away (and if we're nitpicking... my clam-pasta dish could've used a wee bit less lemon juice, but maybe that's just me). Cool staff. Pricing wasn't as outrageous as we feared. It was a total fluke that we found a (free) parking spot when/where we did, don't think we'll ever be that lucky again or we'd definitely come back here again.

Already I was really upset, because how dare you accuse me of lying about the thing that is ruining my life on the one lucky night my chronic pain was light enough to go out and try to enjoy myself. My friend said oh yea she has blood pressure issues (not exactly correct but he was trying) and they walked off. Later inside, they came up to me and told me to get up out of my chair bc someone had hung their bag on the back and I hadnt noticed. They brought me another chair which was nice but I was trying to order a drink and she put it pretty far away from the bar. Anyways, I calmly said "hey you cant say that to people" and they instantly got really defensive and said "well you didnt tell me when you walked in." Like I didnt know I needed permission to sit on the floor? I didnt know I need to tell every employee everywhere I go that Im disabled to keep them from accusing me of lying? Also, the first thing I said was im disabled and we already discussed how they responded to that. I dont remember exactly how I responded, only that I was trying to stifle my anger to not cause a scene, but they then told me "yeah im disabled too I was in 9/11" like sorry I guess but if you are disabled maybe dont be so ableist? If someone told ME they were disabled I would believe them not accuse them of lying, and being disabled isnt an excuse to gatekeep who gets to accomodate their disability and who doesnt. Then when I was leaving I said something like that wasnt cool man and they followed me down the block yelling. I yelled back at this point but still, for an employee of a bar I frequent pretty often to do something like this makes me really uncomfortable. So yeah, I wouldn't go here if you are disabled, at least not when this person is working there, because if simply sitting down so I dont pass out caused this reaction, who knows what reaction other disabled people will get.

Really amazing. Fries elevated to a surprising degree. The chicken is solid, too. They serve it in a fun movie theater style popcorn dish. The food was way more filling than we expected, so those two dishes were enough for two of us to share and leave full and happy. The drink list is quite large and unique. My standout is the hinoki martini. It's a gin/vodka martini with a little sake and sherry added to balance it, and it is perfectly balanced. The flavors are spot on, and they serve it in a playful box of ice with sides of olive and onion for you to choose your own garnish. This is one of the best martinis I have ever had. Worth the visit alone. I had to sample another, so I went with the sour cherry crush. It is a slightly sweet, slightly tart whiskey based drink. Very refreshing. I can't decide if I enjoyed the food or drinks more. For a place that is on the list of best bars in the world, you never know what you're going to get. And this spot is so chill and welcoming. It may not be the oldest bar we've ever been to but it may be the most historic and the first time ever that we were floating during dinner. Built as United States Lightship #115 , it served as a floating lighthouse guarding the dangerous Frying Pan Shoals 30 miles off Cape Fear, North Carolina, from 1930 to 1965. It completed a wartime stint stationed at the Panama Canal. The vessel is listed on both the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places. It is docked alongside another historic vessel, the FDNY fireboat John J. Harvey. Our food, cocktails, servers and company were top notch. The view and the venue were great and we couldn't have picked a better night.

Service When seated, it took 10 minutes before our order was taken and 20 minutes later, when the waitress did not return, I had to ask the bar to page her. After placing our order and receiving no reason for the slow service or even an acknowledgement of it, we waited about 20 minutes for our food to be delivered by staff. Our waitress only returned to offer our check.

After living in NYC for many years and experiencing all it has to offer...its sad to see the Eagle go into self destruct mode. Being the only leather bar left in NYC you would think it would be packed on an ongoing basis with both the local NYC crowd & tourists(especially on Thursdays being code & fetish nite). Unfortunately the Manager Oscar/ex hustler has an attitude problem where he feels its ok to be out & out rude to customers on many levels and his "management style" is certainly passed down to quite a few of the bouncers & bartenders. I went to the latest Code night & it was pretty empty...with literally maybe 6-8 people on the second floor ( the roof deck was closed due to rain) maybe there was 50 people on the first floor. The second floor bartender is a creep with just a couple of patrons he still felt it was ok to ignore people waiting for drinks while he chatted away with his friends. The 2 bartenders on the 1st floor were ok & poured decent drinks. The little tattooed bouncer should win most miserable & rude human on the west side. Yes there were a couple of guys having fun in the bathrooms but when the "manager" comes running in & shouts(think cops at a riot) "ok guys break it up" and pushes his way through(is it jealousy, stupidity or just plain old insecurity) - someone should educate him on how to handle a situation without biting the hand that feeds him. It's ironic that a bar known for & promotes being frisky(its a lot of fun on special days) all of a sudden has the idea that this is ok. The crowd was mixed...some leather, some jeans & t shirts & some women. The issue about women is that there are just some places that can't stop them from coming in but for the life of me I don't get why they want to ..except they are just drama,attention needy types. It's funny but there are plenty of occasions where men are not welcome & for the most part its respected - but the new millenial age women feel they do no wrong. That said I have never seen any woman mistreated or treated rudely. I'm sure the bartenders are suffering tip wise and the management surely has had effect in decreasing attendance so this place isn't long for this world....as the area changes so will the Eagle - too bad the patrons can't be treated with respect & have the desire to keep the place going. read more

I love the eagle but their midieval seeming policy towards women saddens me. WTF!!! is it even legal for a bar/club to bar a person from entering based solely upon sex? This seems so bigoted, is it not in violation of the human rights act? What's the big deal if I want to go into the fucking eagle on a JOCK-STRAP NIGHT?!?! I said I would wear a jock-strap just like everyone else, so what's the problem?!?! This is NOT FAIR!! Come on people!!! DO I have to get all new age/progressive on your ass and whip out the old "gender is just a social construct anyway" line?!...I can't believe that this kind of discrimination persists WITHIN a community that is such the underdog and (rightfully so) fighting for tolerance and equality. Completely barring "women" from entering (on most nights, if not every night) IS FUCKING BULLSHIT!!! What is the basis for this ban anyway? I was born this way!!! FUCK THAT!!! The Eagle, 554 W. 28th Street at 11th Ave. New York's premier Three-Floor Leather/Levi bar, though on crowded weekends most men are more likely to be seen shirtless and in jeans rather than in leather. It is a very cruisy, woofy crowd in an overall "bad-ass" atmosphere (we've seen at least one military man in uniform here...) The Eagle atmosphere is "Uber-masculine" but friendly at the same time. If you scare easily or are a leather-bar virgin, take a friend. Beefy bartenders who know how to pour a drink; Casual first floor; 2nd floor is always crowded, sometimes with a hot dancer; Third floor Roof Deck often packed, with a small smoking crowd. A constant favorite, this is a very *late* crowd (it normally doesn't open until 10 pm); Good drink prices and strong mixed drinks. A MUST for Bears, Leatherman, and NYC visitors. We've returned several times in the last six months, all different days and events, and every time it was top-notch for sheer Eye-Candy, decent drinks, and capable bartenders. read more

No stars for this ersatz "leather", "fetish" bar. It's more of a muscle bar, if anything. The bartenders are more enamored of themselves than being friendly to the clientele. Put a mirror in front of them and they'd be happy for the rest of their lives. If they do deign to speak, it's only to get your order and then quickly go back to themselves or their clique of gym buddies. The place does not have long to last. There will be apartment buildings across from the and on the same side of the block as the bar. "Breeders" will not tolerate such a place for very long. As for the clientele, sadly, even if you are standing right next to them, you have to text them. Otherwise they look straight ahead looking for Mr Right but quickly get distracted by the latest app on their cell phone. How to Alienate Patrons/ Squander an asset and Lose business. Just walked out of the EAGLE bar. Did not stay for a beer. Cause guess what Boys; THE ROOF IS CLOSED TONIGHT! No impromptu cigar night. The roof is the only good thing remaining at this Bar,,,AND it's CLOSED! I wasn't alone in leaving. A super Hot motorcycle dude walked out before me (this is at 10:30pm, 1/2 hour after the Bar opened). In addition two disgruntled customers were smokin out front. We spoke. Oh H. Yeah,, not happy either. Walked by another dude on 28th St., we spoke. advised him of the situation. NOT HAPPY! My favorite bar in the city. Was there over Christmas on a trip that would have been better off taking alone, but that is another review for another time. So, went there like 4 nights in a row and each night started off slow and ended up more and more crowded. On Christmas Eve, met two British guys at Monster and took them to The Eagle. The boys from across the pond loved it as well. Fun bartenders and the guy that runs the store downstairs is way cool tool. Complimented a certian type of ring I was wearing that night, he gets 6 stars. Good layout so people are spread out, outdoor balcony for smoking, and a pool table too. Last Sunday I was won my way ot the top and there was a line that took the entire stairs. I decided to stay on the 2nd floor and tried to enter thorugh the back which I wasnt allowed bc you have to staind in the front line. Much to my horror they let pass a guy with two girls ahead thorugh the back side. When I asked why the bouncer tells me they have VIP passes. The Eagle gives passes to women and let the guys stand in line. This is probably an idea that came from that Oscar guy who basically HATES the regular patrons. Eagle is to leather as Applebee's is to leather. Fake. A farce. Serves nothing but tweaked out meth queens. Music is nothing but Mariah run thru a machoesque filter. Caters to tourists. Locals stay far away. Staff is nice, but management cares nothing. The earth will be done a favor when this place is turned into a Kumon Learning Center to serve all the families moving into to neighborhood. All around an exercise in sadness. The bar itself is not a particularly big space and somewhat has dive bar vibes. Aside from one time during Pride, there's usually a decent amount of room to move around within the space. It should be noted that they only take cash, which is a bit of a throwback. Their ceiling is decorated colorfully and ornate.

We came all the way from NYC to have a good time, but unfortunately our experience was ruined by…read morethe manager's attitude. We were walking downstairs when someone suddenly stopped in front of us. This caused everyone behind them, including us, to slow down. Instead of trying to understand what had happened, the manager started yelling at everyone coming down the stairs. The people at the front who had caused the delay either didn't hear him or were busy fixing a shoe. When we tried to explain that we weren't the ones holding everyone up, he refused to listen. He immediately kicked us out without giving us a chance to speak or understand the situation. The only positive part of the experience was the supervisor, who was very polite and professional. He explained that even though we had been removed only about 10 minutes after entering and after paying the entrance fee. we wouldn't be allowed back inside. The staff serving drinks and the atmosphere were great, and they clearly put effort into hiring attractive, friendly staff to create a fun environment. Unfortunately, none of that matters when the security team and Que the manager completely ruin the experience. The security staff and especially the manager provided one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had at a venue. It was extremely disappointing to travel all the way from NYC only to be treated this way. The manager's behavior was completely unnecessary, disrespectful, and unprofessional. We expected much better customer service.
