New dance floor is nice but what's with the cash only nonsense, $4 ATM fee, and $25 cover charge?

Overpriced and boring. If you are in the younger crowd or POC there are better places like the Cock.

Ask the Community - The Eagle

Is this bar great to include on a bachelorette party tour of NYC?

If everyone in your party has a beard, sure.

I'm a trans guy (pre-everything unfortunately) that's new to the city and looking for a good place to meet people. Would this be a safe place for me to hang out? Not really looking for a hook up place, more just somewhere to frequent.

There are better options in the city than the Eagle for someone looking for what you want.

How old do you have to be to get in?

At least 21 to visit The Eagle NYC

Is this bar good for a first timer that hasn't been to a gay bar before? Also I keep seeing pics of skinny guys, muscles bears etc, I'm a cub type guy will I be judged?

This bar is far less judgmental over body shapes compared to other gay bars. In fact it's my go-to bar for when I crave cubs and bears and otters (oh my!)

Who's up a for a little culture war? As one of what David Hyde Pierce called the "nerdy indoor…read morekids," I realize I've been gaslighted for decades by the jocks. A mid-80s Mets obsessive who yearns for the days of Mookie Wilson and Bob Murphy, I haven't kept up with baseball so much in recent years. That all-star game tie and DH in the NL didn't appeal to me so much. Game 7 of the World Series provided an opportunity for me to be a "normal American" and watch the game at the bar. But I didn't want to buy $80 of drinks so I figured I'd try for inning 6 and beyond and get the finale. So the plan was Cork City for part and maybe another for the ending. The game was on many TVs, caught that cool double play. The sound was on but the talking kind of drowned it out, which seemed less than ideal. However, after I left, none of the 30-ish bars I walked past even had the sound on! So much for all the "sports bars" in this town. (To be fair: it was Halloween weekend, and business decisions to appeal to 20-something women in lingerie and their admirers may have been a factor). After going to 14th and back I was ready to enjoy extra innings at Cork City. But they were at capacity. Game Over. Yes, I'm copping to my inexperience in Hoboken bar-going. Turns out Cork City offered the best baseball experience in town. As for the bar itself, I enjoyed the Peach Fuzz cider from Pennings. The service was friendly. I'll try again on an off-peak night. My plan didn't work out but at least I got some steps in and learned that many sports fans are liars.

They are pup friendly both inside and out and it will often become a little doggie haven. I am not a beer drinker but they have such an extensive list, I usually always find a sour that I actually love. On my visit over the weekend (3 of us plus a pup) I got the Peach Ring Sour. SO good. They have plenty of tables inside and out, and you can even bring in in food from elsewhere. It really is the easiest, most casual, comfortable bar in town.

The Brass Rail won out (sorry, Jersey Mike's that we passed on a random side street!) and it was spectacular. Very classy - dark décor, cool lighting, interesting and engaging artwork. A great varied menu (the beer-and-wine list looked impressive, the food options were all over the place - in a good way). The waiter (an aspiring model/actor/bouncer, for sure!) was top-notch. The complimentary focaccia starter - delicious. When our meals arrived even my kids (teens are never impressed) said they were worthy of being photographed. (And they tasted even better.) One kid went with the pork chop and the way he devoured the Brussel sprout-bacon-apple side I think he forgot that he doesn't even like green vegetables. His brother dug the sliders but wasn't blown away (and if we're nitpicking... my clam-pasta dish could've used a wee bit less lemon juice, but maybe that's just me). Cool staff. Pricing wasn't as outrageous as we feared. It was a total fluke that we found a (free) parking spot when/where we did, don't think we'll ever be that lucky again or we'd definitely come back here again.

On my most recent trip, we started with the Passion for Mezcal cocktail, which contained passion fruit liquor, pineapple, and mezcal. The sweet, tart, and smokey concoction has become one of my favorite drinks in town. We also shared the Pork Bao Buns, which came as a trio of soft, chewy clam-shell shaped dough pieces packed with slow-braised pork, hoisin sauce, and pickled vegetables. They were incredible and definitely something we would order again. For my main course, I went with an entree I recently discovered there and have enjoyed each time, the Brazilian Red Snapper. The tender, mild fish had been baked in parchment paper, along with scallions, cherry tomatoes, clams, and a garlic white wine broth. The clams were a bit small, but the seafood dish was otherwise great. Plus, it came with a small skillet of thin, crispy slices of fried fingerling potatoes that were fantastic! My companion was equally satisfied with his burger and fries. We finished the meal with the Chocolate Chocolate dessert, which had been described as "gooey chocolate cake, mousse, and cookie crumbles" with a note that it needed about 12 minutes to bake. However, when it arrived it was not the slice of cake we had pictured. Instead, it was a martini glass filled with crushed Oreos, chocolate mousse, and chocolate cake bites, all topped with whipped cream. So, it was more like a dirt pudding or trifle, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I also should mention that we love the staff here. I did not catch the name of our waitress this time, but she was excellent. We also adore Korrissa, Saraya, and Andres, who always know how to make their customers feel welcome! Their pleasantries match the cozy and homestyle feel of the restaurant.

This time, we decided to try and plan a little earlier by making rezzies wherever we could. I thought EO didn't offer drinks only slots, but my girlfriend said they do offer them as lounge reservations so she booked it. Unfortunately she didn't read the fine print and we ended up with food rez. We had a dinner reservation right after, so oops! Oh well. At least sales tax is included in all their pricing. And I'm always down to try food items. Honestly, it was a rainy cold Tues night, so we probably just coulda walked in. But we've failed in the past so better safe than sorry. I initially went to their Singapore location about 7ish years ago. I dragged the hubby on a cocktail crawl. I remember this spot being one of my favs so I wanted to visit it when in NYC. Just like last time, I thoroughly enjoyed the Manhattan, spirit forward and balanced. Food wise, I thought everything was fine. Nothing was too large to share between the four of us. I especially enjoyed the truffle grilled cheese. I was pescatarian at the time so didn't try the marrow, but everyone seemed to really enjoy that dish. Glad I finally got to come here. Just don't make a reservation if you only want drinks. REVIEW #4009

The security staff was quite rude at the entrance and didn't let me in, which led my friends inside to leave as well.
