My second time at Hush! This time it was a much different experience, probably because we came after midnight. There was $10 cover at the door. They have nice coat check in area. There are two floors, a bar in each floor. First floor is pretty basic. The restrooms are all gender and an attendee supervises guests going in and out. Much needed service for keeping the area functional. Second floor is where the main party is. There are multiple performers, DJ is amazing, crazy good songs. The bar on second floor is smaller but good enough to serve the needs of the guests. They have tables and benches available that is used a lot by the guests. Overall it was a nice clubbing experience and would be happy to be back next time. read more

HUSH is easily one of my go to spots for gay nightlife in New York. The vibe is just genuinely fun. The space has a high energy feel that still manages to be inclusive and welcoming. What I love most is the diverse crowd. You see all kinds of people there, different ages, styles, and backgrounds, and everyone blends together naturally. It never feels cliquey or uncomfortable. It feels like a real slice of queer NYC all in one room. The nightlife manager and host, Q, did an amazing job curating the vibes. The line of events and DJs there are truly amazing. There is always something interesting on the calendar, from themed parties to special guest DJs and performances. Q also works great with the staff and customers. I have seen him solving difficult situations in a professional and friendly manner. He always brings a great vibe whenever he is running an event. He is super easy to talk to, and clearly cares about the people in the room. One night I could not find my coat after coat check, and while the staff were busy trying to help, Q personally stepped in and made sure it got sorted out. He helped me track it down and worked with the coat check team until we finally located it. That might seem like a small thing, but it really meant a lot at the end of the night and showed how attentive he is as a host. Overall, HUSH adds really positive energy to gay nightlife in NYC. It is a place where you can dance, meet new people, and just enjoy being out in the city. I always leave in a good mood, and that says everything about the kind of space they are creating. To be frank, I've never been to a bar where I felt fully included and immersed in the programming. The ambiance and the culture that is cultivated is truly something special. I've never felt so safe to live my life to the fullest and have a true night out before I came to hush. Q the manager truly is a gem, he makes everyone feel welcome and makes sure that this "safe space" actually feels like a safe place for its inhabitants. This is one of the first gay bars I've been too and it left an impression on me that big I'll last for a long time. It's my favorite gay bar for a reason. If you're Black don't go here. This club is strictly for white people and light skinned Latinos. Me and my friends were just trying to have fun and we were following what those groups of people were doing. Trying to have fun trying to get on the pole platforms all that the security guards were on our case. And tell me how I saw three white men go into a bathroom stall. No problem, but two black men went to install and the security guard was like "no no no." the bartenders are too busy dancing and God forbid you ask them for water They will talk about you to your face Your face. The bartenders and security guards are extremely rude. I went for the first time last night just to see what the vibe was like and wow I should've stayed home! The drinks are overpriced and taste horrible. The bartenders act like they're doing you a huge favor by giving you WATER, especially the one on the first floor with short dreads. He was rude for no reason. When you have people coming in to spend their hard earned money, the least you can do is be respectful. On the first night we came here, the main bar downstairs just inside the entrance was closed and all the lights were on at full brightness, so a bit odd and uninviting when you first entered the place, and only the bar and dance floor on the second floor was open. It was OK, not great and it was relatively dead so we had 1 beer and went back across the street to Industry. Well, goodbye Therapy... hello, Hush! I guess that's what comes with change. Very nicely renovated space. It felt very welcoming and oddly better than it's predecessor. The bartenders were very nice, there was great dancers. The drag show was fantastic. Such great queens. And the drinks were much cheaper and better than the surrounding bars. I'm so happy this location opened up again. I was only there once but it was a great night. I'm not a prude, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the videography. Came here during pride week and it was absolutely crazy. There's a $20 cover (cash or card) and the line moves decently quickly - it took maybe 15 minutes to get in. It's so hot inside and there's no air circulation at all so you're just sweating and getting sweated on. It especially doesn't help that they pack people in so you're getting constantly pushed. I was hit in the head at least twice. There are at least 2 floors with a different DJ on each floor. Both DJs were the worst I've ever seen - there was almost no mixing at all and they were playing the entire song from start to finish - chorus and all verses - which is much too long. The songs themselves were just alright - it was more mellow pop. People were dancing a little, but it wasn't a high-energy environment. The crowd also leans toward the 30s. The bathroom situation is also atrocious but did move pretty quickly. The whole place smelled like piss - which made sense since the floors were mysteriously very wet. There are a handful of bathroom stalls and a bunch of urinals all in one place. read more

Hush can be a fun, there are drag shows, especially H2Hoe on Saturday nights, that are a great time. This venue suffers from the same overcrowding that Industry does even after their re-model from being Therapy. It can get really packed on the weekends and getting around/to the bathroom becomes difficult. My experience here has been a bit inconsistent as some times the bar is understaffed, and other times items get lost in coat check due to the amount of people in the bar at 2am. On the flip side I do like the renovation, the music, and the events overall. Hit or miss, Hush can definitely be an option for a fun time out. Not a huge fan of the bottle service/private booths upstairs as it takes a lot of room from the dance floor. The dance poles are also not allowed for patrons to use, and you will be reprimanded for trying to dance on them. If I'm already in the area I would consider coming here but it's not my first choice when planning a night out. read more

Very welcome addition to the neighborhood, it has risen out of the ashes of what used to be Therapy bar. They have completely remodeled and I feel more at home now. I never felt comfortable there in the Therapy days and most people I know say they prefer it now. The staff are friendly to everyone and not just other people that look like the young handsome muscle guys that they all are. The main bar on the ground floor now fills the center of the room with stools around it a few tables. They open at 5pm and do happy hour till 9pm where drinks are a couple of dollars off. Upstairs is remodeled too and like a night club vibe where they have a stage for acts, I have only been there once. Well recommended. read more

I was out one night having some Me time. I was having a good time outside meeting new people and the first set of security guards, and I then went inside had some drinks and danced. A Security Guard came inside to have me witness something outside and asked me questions. He thanked me for my "graciousness". I went back inside to have another drink. I tried to re-enter, and I was stopped by a different looking set of Security Guards with vests on, and he told me I could not re-enter because there was complaints. Of course I said it's my right to know what the complaints were, and he told me in a very mean and nasty way I am not going tell you what the complaints are and "I am in charge" is what he said so then I immediately knew it was mad bullshit ego tripping and postering. I left a message to talk the owner. I felt this feeling of degradation, and I can't quite put my finger on it. I guess I may never know...all in all from some of the other reviews, and counting my experience it seems like the new Security detail likes to challenge other strong looking men and minorities treating them with little dignity and respect. read more
