I've been to this bar a few times and hosted an event here. The experience is always great! I love the vibe of this bar. It's a polished bar with a great happy hour. Their happy hour is every day until 8PM and should not be missed! I like to go here to meet up with friends or start the night out here. They have great event programming. I recommend their pop party on Fridays. They have well curated seasonal cocktails like a strawberry negroni and frozen guava margarita. The bartenders are all really nice and welcoming. I hosted my birthday here and the managing staff are very communicative and provide different, well priced packages based on the type of event you want. Are you a top or a bottom? Well, if you're uncertain, then this must be the bar for you. No, I'm not talking about your sexual position preferences. I'm not interested in being charged for harassment. I'm talking about Jamie W's and my drinking preferences in Hell's Kitchen. We just came out of Flaming Saddles where I slipped a five spot into the back pocket of the line dancing bartender. So in the middle of a rainstorm, we strolled down 9th Avenue to find this more discreet watering hole. It's quite stylish, darkly lit with purplish pink fluorescent light accents, and draws a decidedly mixed crowd on the somewhat younger side. It was the perfect atmosphere for an espresso martini. We were fortunately here for Happy Hour which lasts until 8PM. We took immediate action and ordered a couple of $10 Espresso Martinis (photo: https://yelp.to/M4hGA79FOz). They also offered small appetizers, two for $12. It was just enough food before dinner. Came here with my partner after seeing MJ for her birthday and having a little bit of time to spare before our dinner reservation. As lesbians, we were overly impressed - too bad there aren't any lesbian bars in the City or Brooklyn that come anywhere close to Vers. The ambiance, cleanliness (especially of the restrooms), friendliness of the bartender, JAY, were all above and beyond. Didn't try any food since we had dinner reservations elsewhere, but will def return next time we're in the City. And kudos to Jay - he was amazing !!!! Hope you're working next time we visit! I visited VERS with some friends in the early evening. Essentially VERS is somewhat in between a more traditional cocktail lounge and a regular gay bar (ie. with well drinks and very loud music). They have a stage, sit down tables, bar seating and hi-tops (plus tables outdoors) but plenty of standing room as well. The cocktails are well made with cheeky spinoffs of old classics being the theme. At the time of writing cocktails were $17 each. The wine list is nothing short of abominable with two-buck-chuck-esque wines at high prices which was kind of disappointing, I would have loved a nice glass of Pinot Grigio but unfortunately that was not possible. The decor is modern and hip, incorporating LCD screens and neon lights in a fluorescent-lit environment. The bar has a chic vibe. Acoustically the bar needs some work, a bunch of kick-ballers walked in and the sound reverberated of the surfaces like an echo chamber which was unbearable, at which point we left. In a nutshell: It is great for pretentious cliques or groups of more, but not so much for solo patrons, the experience could be more consistent here, leaning lately more towards unlikable/underwhelming experiences. THE GOOD I always get a bartender, which is a plus because VERS is very busy and not everyone might get their attention immediately among many waiting. There's a Christmas event going on, and until the moment I left, very colorful and entertaining. There is a production value, as well as attention to the overall presentation of the space and the reserved session for VIPs I guess. THE BAD It is REASONABLE to expect a bit of space between your HEAVILY ICED margarita to the brim, NOT 3/4 of a drink serve like that and people be like COOL WHAT?!!! I didn't say a thing because I feel I lost the battle from the very beginning and I'm old enough to know when to take my loss and move on. THE WORST Not only I had to make last that fraction of a drink to soak with the tatter tots shown. They give you this nice larger order of tots with just two squirts of ketchup and a presumably non-vegan cream on the side and think to be enough?! I didn't bother to discuss it with the bartender because AFTER ASKING 4 TIMES FOR MORE KETCHUP. An hour later, the server with the long hair toss it on the bar like gosh, does he has to! The rest of the tots are more lukewarm at this point. I feel so upset this ruined another wise cool Monday night. The waiter's here rarely do anything other than a transaction for you, not that great bartenders' dynamic were to engage their clients and check on them. I got my water refilled AT THE END when it didn't matter but still I said thank you because I was taught manners. Even removing tonight's experience, overall VERS is not a friendly or warm gay venue, perhaps I'm not just their demographic and that is OK too. read more

Great neighborhood place to meet a friend, make friends and just shoot the sht. Staff seems rather friendly. Music always gives me a modernized 90's / 00's vibe. The interior has a nice, fun design. Bar food is unexpectedly good. Drink prices are decent (ps you don't need to pay extra tito's bc their house vodka is Amsterdam, which is good...hopefully stays that way). It's also the only gay place we've found in the area to get a proper craft cocktail. The piano nights are pretty fun too. read more

Definitely enjoyed my first experience at Vers! They were one of the only LGBTQ bars in town that still had reservations open for drag brunch on the Saturday of pride weekend so we booked. We did have to wait a little longer past our reservation for our table to open up, but it was pride weekend so thats to be expected. It was a little bit hot in the bar area too. The seating was a bit tight but we got to be up really close to the stage and the drag performances were really fun! The food was absolutely AMAZING and a great price. I got the cacio e pepe scrambled eggs, which were wonderful and served with spinach and fried toast. For the table we got bacon which was delicious. it was only $25 for a pitcher of mimosas which is an amazing deal especially for NYC. This is a really fun and enjoyable bar for both food and good vibes! read more

Recently came here for the first time and found it very charming, with a nice atmosphere, friendly bartenders with a good cocktail selection. I liked the seating availability and look forward to coming during a drag event. They have a small stage with a large wall for projecting media/movies, not to mention screens all of the place. It's cute! I was a little confused by the little red room near the bathrooms, is it a back-room area or what?? I also prefer dividers at urinals, personal preference. This place is great. The bartenders are friendly, and the managers are very attentive and friendly. Tristan the bartender is a beautiful person, attentive, fast, and friendly. It's a great place to hang out and have some food and drinks. I specially love the bouncer, Carlos, he is friendly, and communicates and interacts with the patrons. Unlike other places where the bouncers never acknowledged the patrons, and have and intimidating attitude. He is not scary, and makes me feel safe being there.
