I've come to Henrietta Hudson a few times throughout the last few years when I've visited NY. Every time I've been I've had a great time! I have come on a Saturday and it was quite busy but a good time. It can definitely get crowded on the weekends! I've come other times during the week and that's been very chill and enjoyable. The bartenders have always been nice and it's pretty good prices compared to other bars. I noticed it had been renovated on my last visit and it looks really nice! I'm a fan of their beer selection. Definitely a good spot to have a fun/wild night or a chill one. Will visit again next time I'm in town!

The oldest lesbian bar in New York! My partner and I came here with our friends on Friday night to celebrate our wedding earlier that day. The door staff were so friendly and the vibe inside was top tier. The DJ was amazing playing a mix of newer stuff and iconic stuff that everyone knows. The bartenders were nice and the drinks were tasty but a bit weak which is the only reason it's not 5* for me. The toilets are actually really great for bar toilets. A great place to go hang out and dance with other wlw! Our friend loved it so much she's already said we need to go back soon :)

Was here last Friday night. Lovedcthe people. Back in 1990s it was kind of Trans hostile. Felt uncomfortable back then to eve use a chair. Like a klansman in a white pillow case at a NAACP meeting. You know.. please die or leave soon? Lol Totally different now. Great bar maid and really personable patrons. The drinks are a bit hi.. a 2x JD and coke $28. Yes WOW! I definitely be back tho. Loved the people.

Needs better bartenders. Low key gave us fake shots. There wasn't any liquor in a lemon drop. Other than the dranks. It was fun! Get a beer!

Ask the Community - Henrietta Hudson

    Is there a coat check?

    yes

Do they have a cover? And if they do, what time does it start?

    $12 after 10pm

    Do they have gender-neutral bathrooms?

Yes. They have had gender neutral bathrooms for as long as I can remember.

What is the age range of ladies on Friday nights; 21-25yrs old?

I've only been there once. But there is a variety of ages. Just be warned that it is more of a social bar. Basically it's locals that already know each other and have their own circle that are socializing amongst themselves.

Do they serve food and is it good? Lol

No, they do not serve food

Do you have to be 21 to enter the bar, or 18?

    21 and over.

    Is this 18+ or 21+?

    This is a 21+ establishment.

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. Paradise Lost accepts groups of 8 or less, unless you are requesting to book the space for a private event. Ages 21+ paradiselost.nyc @paradiselostnyc Paradise Lost is open everyday - 5pm-2am.

Dim lighting, plush seating, rich wood + wallpaper details, and that lounge-library vibe make the place feel like a secret hideout right in the middle of Midtown. It's moody, cozy, and effortlessly intimate -- perfect for a date night, a chill catch-up, or just a night out with good drinks. Nice service, too! However: be ready for the price tag. The cocktails are absolutely beautiful -- well crafted, creative, and flavorful -- but each one will remind you that you're not exactly paying dive-bar prices. It's worthwhile, but the "overpriced drinks" vibe absolutely hits. That said: the interior design and ambience are amazing. The mix of antique-meets-modern decor, low lighting, and comfy couches gives you that classic speakeasy romance. If you appreciate aesthetics and vibe over cheap drinks -- this is your spot. If you want a night out that feels deliberate and special rather than casual and cheap -- Osamil Upstairs delivers.

Tucked into the Financial District, this spot blends old New York history with some of the best cocktails in the city--and it's easy to see why it's been named "World's Best Bar" more than once. The name itself has a wild backstory, inspired by a notorious 19th-century Irish-American gang from Five Points. It adds a layer of character to the place, but what really keeps people coming back is the atmosphere and the drinks. The space is split into two levels: a two lively, sawdust-floored Taprooms downstairs and a more refined Parlor upstairs if you're in the mood for a quieter, cocktail-focused experience. Drinks are the real highlight here. The Irish Coffee is widely considered one of the best in the world--rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced with whiskey, coffee, and fresh cream. They also get creative with variations like a frozen version and even an Irish Coffee martini. If you want something different, the "Act Naturally" is a standout, mixing Irish whiskey with Guinness and fig in a way that works. Food is just as impressive for a bar. The lobster deviled eggs (topped with caviar) are a must-try, and the menu leans into elevated comfort food. Overall, The Dead Rabbit nails the balance between historic charm and modern cocktail excellence. The D.R. is one of those places that is never boring and consistently delivers.
