When you enter Osamil, the hostess will take you to a door near the bar that has a coded entry. It'll look like youre going up some random stairs until the lights slowly get dimmer and you reach the top with a red door. As soon as you open the door youre greeted with your party's name and brought to your seats. We opted to sit at the bar but there are tables to the left of the bar and a large sitting room to the left. The staff is very attentive and you will interact with them more than the bartender. We started off by ordering the Welcome Drink which is a bit if an aperitif and "gets your palette" so to speak. It was light, fruity, and a nice way to start the night. My first drink was the Adulting and they present it with a spritz if irange blossom. It is definitely a sipping drink due to the 14yr Balvenie. My second drink, Omija, was a lighter drink comparatively. The clarified yogurt gave it a bit of sweetness most Yakult drinkers are familiar with. My partner had both the 5th Ave and Iced Latte. Fair warning on the latte as the oat milk topping has a bit of a jelly consistency. It wasnt unpleasant but was a bit if a surprise when we went for an initial sip. It was on a weekday, the day of NBA Finals Game 3 when everyone else were at bars & lounges getting ready for the game to start. This afforded us a beautiful and tranquil experience at Osamil Upstairs. Hidden behind a locked door inside Osamil, it's a spot you have to seek out to get in. After we shared we were going to Osamil Upstairs, the hostess from Osamil promptly unlocked the unmarked door for us to head upstairs to Osamil Upstairs. Had other customers not come out as we were walking up the stairs, we might have passed the entrance to Osamil Upstairs and continued upward! Much like what you might expect of a speakeasy, it's well-hidden, and the interior just blows the mind. It's elegant, beautiful, and comfortable. The drinks were good. My cheese in the trap was smokey (as promised!) and alcohol forward. My hubby had the Jung cocktail and it had the most magical, delicious combination of flavors! Osamil Upstairs is an absolutely beautiful bar hidden (you guessed it) upstairs from the restaurant Osamil. Just walk into the restaurant, check in with the hostess, and you'll be led to a very unassuming door to climb up a super narrow set of concrete stairs to the 2nd floor for your speakeasy adventure. Once you've entered, you can either be seated at the moody bar (there's also sit down tables in the bar area) or you can be sat in the "living room" area which has lush furnishings and spectacular wallpaper. Imagine having a cocktail in the living room of a fabulously wealthy friend with a brownstone off 5th Avenue. This space is perfect for an impressive but quiet date night or a sophisticated drink with friends on one of their extremely comfy leather couches. The main restaurant was bustling; upon entry we asked the hostess if we could go up to the speakeasy, and after a quick phone call she led us to a door with stairs behind it that led to OU. It was pretty large for a speakeasy, but besides that the vibes were on - an impressive bar greeted us upon entry, and we were then led to a large room with couches and chairs arranged for groups to gather. The room was very nice - it was kinda large with high ceilings but the low lighting, warm color scheme, soft furniture, and bookshelves lining the walls made the aesthetics very intimate. The menu has a selection of cocktails, spirits, wine, champagne, and bites. I focused on the cocktails and decided on the Sol; this was a smoke-infused cocktail with earthy notes and vermouth. The cocktail was good, not smooth but I don't think it was meant to - the smoke effect fanfare upon being served the drink was fun. We decided on a second round and I went with the Sesame Street - this was sweeter and smoother. Service was good - we were promptly taken care of and everyone was friendly. Conveniently located literally upstairs of Osamil, this is a nicely decorated and classy speakeasy where the entrance is fairly hard to see at first glance. You can go up by checking in with the host at Osamil on the ground floor, and then you go up the staircase to the bar. The seating configuration is very specific - tables of 2, 3, 4, or 5 are seated at exact tables with no adjustments at the cocktail tables, with a fairly lax seating arrangement at the bar. I like the ambience of the cocktail tables, though it can get quite cramped. We tried 5 cocktails total, most of which are good but on the pricey side that I'd have second thoughts coming back, as there are plenty of nice bars with better drinks at a lower price point that are similarly accessible O.E - cucumber margarita that I added spice which is one of the drinks they got an award. It's a bit strong but it tasted a bit watered down. It looks nice but it's skippable Baebae - a sweet cocktail with Korean pear. It is decent and easy to drink High-ball - the ingredients sound basic but I like this one a lot. To be honest, I love anything yuzu Sesame Street - probably my favorite drink we ordered. Bonus is that it is aesthetic too. It is fruity but also has a roasted sesame aftertaste Single's Inferno - the most aesthetic drink we ordered but it was strong and was a bit too herbal for my liking.
