Let me just start by saying that this place is a tremendous improvement from La Fogata. Anyways, I really did like my meal from The Eagle: the knife and fork sloppy joe. Which is exactly as described, a bun with a ton of sloppy joe and cole slaw piled on which can't eat with just your hands. It was spicy, which I loved about it. They have an awesome beer selection and the patio is great when not in the middle of an Ohio heat wave. A couple of my friends had the chicken sandwich which was also fantastic. Very disappointing (non-existent) happy hour. Saw the review for The Eagle in ColumbusAlive and thought I'd try a new spot. Stopped after work back November 10th, ~4:30, for some grub and a beer on their patio. When asked about Happy Hour specials, the waiter said that the only beer discounted was "The Champagne of Beers", Miller, because that was the manager's favorite beer. Um, what???? I should have walked at that point. No appetizer specials either. The waiter was not very knowledgable of the beers on tap, and no list to refer. With all of the other pubs that have great happy hour drink/food prices, I won't be returning. read more

So INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED. Have always been a fan of the Cincinnati location of The Eagle. I have been craving this for months after moving out of state. Ordered to go to enjoy at home and I will never return to this location. No dressing on my kale salad (inedible) no cole slaw on my sandwich and I received the same portion of a 1/2 salad and a whole. DO NOT carry out of this restaurant, you will be disappointed. Most people wouldn't 5 star this but I am. Their fried chicken with spicy honey is amazing. The cheese grits and mac and cheese is phenomenal. Their menu is small but the items on it are all perfected. Peep the Bloody Mary for an interesting take on it. They add Guinness to give it a unique smooth texture, also has chunky tomato bits in it. Had my birthday celebration there last Friday with 8 friends. Was able to reserve the upstairs dining room. Service was great as was the food. American/Southern Comfort food at it's finest. The Eagle is located where La Fogata used to be on High street. They have communal style seating so you may be next to another group (this is the only thing I didn't really like but we just asked to be seated at our own table and the hostess was fine with that). As far as their chicken (which I took away as being their highlight point), sandwiches and other entrees, it is sold separate from the sides. The sides ARE large enough to split between 2 even 3 people. The staff was really nice, customer service excelled here. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Food - The. Food. I ordered the grilled cheese which had 3 different cheeses, granny smith apples and came with a peach dipping sauce. It was amazing!!!! I ordered the sweet potatoes as my side which had toasted marshmallows on top...mmmmmmmm :-) My table also ordered the jalapeno grits (A+) and the mac and cheese (A+). We ordered a pitcher of the Eagle Iced Tea - this tasted a lot like a long island. The pitcher was $32 and we all got at least 3 or 4 short glasses out of it. Can't wait to go back. read more

The food, and the people serving it, was fantastic. Chicken was juicy and tender with great flavor. Mac and cheese was a table favorite. I was surprised by how good the collards were and the braised pork sandwich had so much flavor! Service was prompt and their recommendations were spot on. I they brought the wrong sandwich but did the right thing. Friends had been saying great things about this place,so I decided to give it a go myself. On arrival the hostesses were gathered together in small talk. Finally one greeter popped her head out of the group and smiling welcomed me as I said "table for one." Her smile slowly disappeared as she shared my options, bar or shared table. I opted for the shared table. Soon after being seated two wait staff came to take my order. Whenever two waiters come to your table you can comfortably beat that one is the trainer and the other, you guessed it, the trainee. Both were courteous enough and looked attentively at the menu as I pointed to the sandwich I wanted. In what seemed a relatively short time my order arrived, served by another staff. As I took my first bite I thought this is going to be good. Not great but really,pretty good and huge to boot. Periodically one of the original two would stop by to see how I was doing. I'd smile and reply "fine" each time as I tried not to eat too quickly but relish the variety of flavors coming for the chicken sandwich. Sweet, savory and creamy in each crunchy bite. Despite my efforts of politeness I eat too fast. As I sat looking at my empty plate I also noticed other patrons being served and their sandwiches looked even better than mine. Then glazing down at the menu, still on the table I looked at the descriptions of the sandwiches and noticed that my order was wrong. So when the waiter ( trainee) stopped by again, I explained that I had received the wrong order. Without any hesitation or excuses he apologized and didn't charge me for the meal. This is officially a new place to hang out in the Short North. It's hard to even remember what it looked like when it was Fogata because the place was completely re-done. The patio space has social (large) picnic tables and long high tops to stand, while the inside has an enormous, welcoming center bar surrounded by booths. On only night #3, the service was impeccable, personable, and spot-on. We were ready to give the place a thumbs-up before food even came. The menu is southern bar style fare, with fried chicken, grits, collard greens - but also a good selection of salads, sandwiches and snacks... We had the corn nut bar snack (which was actually bite sized fried hominy), a fried chicken sandwich and kale salad (with cornbread croutons). Serving sizes were perfect and prices were good... We went for dinner during the week, so there wasn't much of a crowd. The patio is really nice and would be great on a summer day. Service was great and the server was friendly and attentive. In the Short-North for the Arnold Classic, what a waste of time, and used OpenTable for a spot at Eagles. We were promptly greeted and seated near another couple at a booth. They called it "communal seating", and I really didn't care for it. Anyway, my wife ordered white-meat fried chicken, succotash and biscuits. She enjoyed it quite a lot. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with mac and cheese. The sandwich was huge and tasty, and the mac 'n cheese was also very good. John provided great service and was very personable. Don't even know where to begin. I picked up an order to deliver to a customer and the clerk handed me the wrong bag of food. I dropped the food off and was on to my next delivery when I get a call from the clerk saying that I took the wrong food trying to put the blame on me. I took what was handed to me. We do not go through food bags once they are handed to us for a variety of reasons. The most important reason is it is very unsanitary. She wanted me to return the food and get the correct order. That is disgusting especially during this Covid time. However the food was delivered and I was already onto my next restaurant. Meanwhile the customer is upset thinking that I delivered the wrong food when it was in fact this clerk who gave me the bag to deliver in the first place. I do not appreciate the dishonesty of this clerk and the thought of resending returned food. We all make mistakes and that's ok, but to lie about a situation is in such horrible taste. Walked here for a work lunch the other week, the weather was perfect so we all ate outside on the patio. The service was great and everything I saw on the menu looked really good. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and we all got a bunch of sides to share, highly recommend this for a group lunch because you will want to try everything. Born in Tennessee, I'm a southern girl at heart and have been craving southern comfort food. The Eagle satisfied the craving! Great food. However. Management is poor. I say this because on a Saturday (busy day, I'd say) they held a table for a reservation for over an hour because it was a "judgment call" (direct quote of hostess). That's bull poop. You have people sitting for an hour at the bar waiting for a table and seeing empty table for an hour plus. Point blank that's poor management. I went to the Eagle for lunch yesterday. Not only is there free parking near by, which is impossible to find downtown, but their food was awesome. We got the fried chicken sandwich and the grilled cheese, along with a side of collard greens. EVERYTHING we had was incredible. The chicken has a hint of spice to it and isn't overly breaded. The bread the grilled cheese came on was so good and the apples and jam on the sandwich was so unique. I want to go back, like today! read more

Been in Columbus for 2 years and this is arguably the best food I've had since I've been here. Best Mac n cheese I've had in a long time. Corn bread was delicious. And the fried chicken sandwich...amazing! Only thing that disappointed me was their lemonade. Very concentrated and felt I was sucking on a lemon after every sip. My husband and I were in town for a concert and picked The Eagle off of other Yelp reviews. We were so glad that we did because it was a really wonderful experience. The atmosphere is like a rustic Southern bar with a lot of wood finishes. It was clean and and the waitstaff was very nice. Our food came out promptly and was very good! Chris ordered their house mule and it was the biggest mule we've ever seen! It didn't come in a copper cup, but rather a large beer mug. I ordered the Bourbon Punch and it was fruity and tasty. We had the Maple Bacon for our appetizer and we really enjoyed it. It wasn't hot when it came out, which surprised me, but was still tender and sweet. We ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich and Blackened Shrimp Po Boy as well as fries and macaroni and cheese. The Po Boy had great flavor, but wasn't very, "blackened" but that didn't bother me. The macaroni and cheese was FANTASTIC! Rich and creamy with crunchy breadcrumbs on top. I totally recommend it! The Fried Chicken sandwich was crispy and juicy and complimented with crunchy coleslaw on top. There were also pickles on the sandwich that were too sweet for us so I would take them off or not get them next time. The fries were fine, but nothing out of this world, although the garlic aioli that comes with it was perfect! The portion sizes are made for sharing, so I would recommend getting a sandwich to share and a couple of sides. Chances are, you'll still have leftovers! The only thing I really didn't care for was that, upstairs there is only one bathroom that's unisex, which not my thing at all. read more

I'm going to go with 4 stars here because there's so much focus here on the chicken and there are a lot of quality fried chicken options around town. The chicken itself was very good I thought, very tender and juicy. Although for the price I might say my pieces of the 1/4 were fairly small. For sides, the Mac and the fries were really solid, and the mashed potatoes were good, but different. They are horseradish and you definitely know it, so if that's not your thing, you would likely not like them at all. My son had an excellent kids grilled cheese option. The one person who got the chicken sandwich at our table wasn't wild about it, and preferred other boneless breast sandwiches like HCT. May try it again if other people wanted to go there, but not going to be a sought after destination for me. read more

We had an amazing experience at the Eagle tonight. We ordered a full fried chicken. Let me pause! Fried chicken. It was Delicious! Two sides including mac and cheese and fries with fancy aoli!! We sat outside on a Friday night with an amazing table where we talked Ohio State football and just loved every moment!
