Rude waitresses. Slow service. Horrid smells. After waiting 35 minutes for the car top and 25 minutes for dried up hamburgers and cold fries, was not impressed with 1 single thing. Pepsi had too much syrup and not enough carbonation in it. The waitress never came back to ask if we needed anything. Not to mention the whole facility is dirty. Employee drinks and clothing items sitting everywhere near the ice cream machines. The ice cream box was wide open. Milk for milk shakes was left out the entire time we were there. Our waitress ignored us and came over to make a sundae. Made the sundae with no gloves after touching money, drink cups, her iPad, wiping her nose, etc. The women's restroom toilet was over Flowing into the floor with a horrible sewer smell. (They were well aware of the situation) The prices are premium which wouldn't be a problem if they kept a clean environment to serve food. This was our second visit to The Diner and once again, we weren't disappointed. Last time, our family came for breakfast, which was very solid. This time, we came for dinner...with a group of 30 people. They handled the group well on short notice - reserved 4 tables near each other for our entire group at 7:30 on Saturday night after we called to ask if they could handle a group of this size. And then they did a really good job of handling such a large group - worked hard, served us amazingly fast for such a large group, and hustled the whole time we were there to take good care of us. And the food was again very solid - good burgers and sides and breakfast food served all day. Once again, we'll be back the next time we're in town! read more

I came here accidentally when we were at the dolly wood resort, looking for a place to get some grub. We came across it and went in and it was styled like an old diner like one you would see out of stranger things or something. it had a really nice atmosphere, and while we were waiting you could look around at old records and pictures from back then. then the food came. I ordered my self a bacon cheeseburger with American cheese ,lettuce, onion and fries on the side. the food was incredible. the fries were nailed perfectly (besides a few burnt ones). the burger was very tasty and service was overall very good. This should really be a 3.5 * so keep this in mind. I ordered the Chef salad and it was Trump sized Huuuge! Best part was that it was fresh greens! NO iceberg! Huge leaves, fresh, grated carrot, fresh bacon crumbles, 'deli pack style' turkey and cooked ham, an entire sliced boiled egg, grated cheese, tomatoes and an entire bag of croutons. Plenty of dressing for those who enjoy, 3 sauce cups actually. I enjoy salads and the tastes of them so unless a salad needs masking I typically don't use the dressings, as was the case here. The salad was a solid 4* for a stereotypical chef salad. Now for the negative: my hubby's meatloaf. To sum it up they were instant potatoes - yuck and canned veggies next to a slab of very 'bland' meatloaf. He ate it but kept saying this would probably be a great place for a burger BUT not for dinners if this was par for the course. He 'wished we'd gone to Cracker Barrel' for his meatloaf craving, then tried the banana pudding, found it to be very fresh and creamy. The Diner is a great throwback to 50's diners and super clean and much larger than other 50's diners too. The staff was attentive and the owner even came by to say 'Hi'. All in all, I would recommend stopping for the atmosphere, interaction with the staff and probably a Burger and a shake. Hope this helps you decide. :) read more

This was the perfect little blast from the past 1950's diner. It felt like we were stepping back in time with all the decor and the atmosphere. The day we went to The Diner for lunch they were packed. We decided to eat at the counter, which ended up being a lot of fun. I usually pick to sit in a booth, but the retro vide made it easy to sit at the counter. We enjoyed watching the servers make the delicious milkshakes. I thought the poodle skirt uniforms were really cute. I also enjoyed playing the jukebox. For lunch we started out with the Crock O'Dill Spears with a side of Ranch. They were so good!! The breading was perfectly fried, so it gave a satisfying crunch when you bite into it (so good). For my main entree I had the Bacon Cheese Burger with a side of fries. I really enjoyed it. The patty was cooked perfect and they give the right amount of bacon to make the perfect bite. Jenni got the chicken tenders with fries. Since I had watched servers making milkshakes all through out my lunch I had to have one. They have several different flavors, but I chose the classic chocolate. It was perfect!! We shared it and both got plenty. If you are in Sevierville or in the area you need to go enjoy a meal at The Diner. I would give The Diner a zero rating if it were available! Food was horrible, my husband order breakfast and it was cold. Service was bad. Our waitress took our order and someone from the kitchen brought our food to the table and we never seen our waitress again, she didn't even come back to the table to see if we needed anything. I have to say I was very disappointed. With a name like theirs you would think that they would have hot, juicy burgers, great fries and onion rings especially for 12.95. NOT! Burger was ordered med. Supposed to be pink in the middle but warm. Was over cooked and dry. No sliced pickles for your burger and red onions which when bitten into were strings which you had to pull and throw in basket because they were old. If fresh I could have bitten into them. The burger had a strange flavor as did the fries and onion rings. I paid up-charge to have half fries, half onion rings. I am thinking, after seeing the very gross bathroom it was probably from old grease. Had I seen the bathroom before I ordered I would not have eaten there. I did not finish my burger or sides. I tried but could not get past the taste. Ice tea was old tasting which means they do not clean the tea container every day. I drink unsweet tea so it doesn't move as fast with all these sweet tea drinkers so it has to be made fresh every day and the container it sits in needs cleaned every day. I don't think they do. Stopped in to check out the food. Ordered a chocolate malt but it had no real malt flavor. Instead it was slightly on the bitter side. Tried the hamburger and fries. Nothing special here. Fries were typical frozen fries so many restaurants serve. I could not say the burger was bad but I couldn't say it was really good either. So incredibly disappointed in this "restaurant". The lack of respect for the fact we're in a literal pandemic is disgusting. They first tried seating us between two tables that were full of people, and when I asked to be moved somewhere else because of social distancing, the waitress scoffed and rolled her eyes, she then placed us at a high top, NO ONE was wearing masks or gloves or social distancing at all. The amount of food for the price was good but that doesn't help the fact that I could have a better burger at McDonald's for half the price. The milkshakes were average. Now this place was a nice little find in the madness of the mountain wonderland. The simple name is fun yet to the point. The menu has a wonderful variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was very surprised to see buffalo burgers as an option. Although no better or worse than most diners; we had a great time just eating and reading all the random signs and literature. Th buffalo burger was a bit greasy! But what the $^&%*&, we were at a diner after all! My cohort had some eggs, country ham and a pancake all for under $7 with coffee. They advertise that they have 30 meals under $7. The interior is all diner. Very clean and nice. The staff were nice but not over the top with kindness. We asked to split our check.
