A nice spot off of 321. We stopped in for a quick breakfast outing. It was a very small sitting area but it was perfect for the amount of people were dinning in. We never felt cramped. While small, the service was great and we didn't go without contact with our waitress extended period of time. The food was good but not incredible. Decided to find a spot close by to eat while stopping for gas on the way to the Tail of the Dragon. Only a couple minutes off the parkway. We were greeted right away and were able to take a table. Small dining area, with very limited seating. Nice warm cozy vibe including Bob Ross on the tv. The food came out quickly. Hot and fresh. I got the Snoring Bear Breakfast. I chose the Cajun seasoning for the tilapia and it was a lil bland. I probably could have asked for more seasoning, so that's on me. The rest was great. Eggs cooked to perfection. My wife chose the fish platter and she said the fish was delicious. The fries were a lil over seasoned and she had to rub some of the fries off. As for the drinks, cans of Coke, Sprite, etc are $1.99 each. A lil pricey but it is clearly marked on the menu. My only complaint is I ordered a water and was charged 50 cents. It's not listed anywhere on the menu, so I was surprised to see it on my bill. Overall, I would probably stop here again for a quick bite if I'm in the area. Looking for new gastrointestinal gems on YELP, this came up. We had CeCe as our waitress. What a nice gal. She served the outside guests well with a chatty attitude and smile coffee in her hand. Amazing we even had mutual dog friends. Dalmatian. I had a Denver style omelette with ham and peppers. With hot sauce it was great. Enjoyed the biscuit and coffee Outdoors is the way to go. Nice location on 321. Good place to stop before hitting the tourist traps in Townsend. Interior is small with 5 tables; plan on sitting outside. One server was working the inside dining room causing the service to be slow. Food was good. My wife opted for breakfast while I got lunch. We both liked our dishes. Cost was very reasonable, with the notable exception of charging $0.50 for water. Really? Sodas are served by the can, so I assume no free refills. No charge for using a credit card, yay. Another reviewer noted a bug problem. I did not notice the particular bug that they reported, but there were a number of flies buzzing around. Points lost due to that. Note to establishment: Hire an exterminator. read more

If you leave Snoring Bear Diner still hungry, that's on you, not them. We rolled in needing coffee and left with full bellies and a solid food coma ready for our Smoky Mountain adventures. The pancakes were bigger than our heads, the bacon was crispy like our hiking ambitions, and the coffee was strong enough to wake up a real bear. Service was fast, friendly, and felt like visiting your cool aunt who feeds you too much. Definitely a must-stop if you're in Townsend and don't feel like eating another granola bar in your car. read more

We had no wait for a table. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was pretty small inside but quaint, cozy and clean. Bear decor was the theme. Menu is not very big, but enough options for pancakes, omelettes, and waffles and egg combinations. Prices were fairly reasonable. Our hot chocolate and orange juice was decent nothing fancy. Hubby and I both got an omelet with toast and hashbrowns. The omelette was very dry. All of the other omelettes I've ever had seem like they were cooked in some butter and this was barely moist. There also wasn't much flavor at all. Hashbrowns were the same thing. They tasted like they had no seasoning, no oil or butter, y just kind of dry. And the wheat toast was wheat toast. Ironically, it was the only item that tasted like it had butter on it, which gave it some flavor overall. Nothing tasted bad, it just wasn't great either. It looks like they had some great reviews, so maybe it was just an off day. I dislike giving reviews that aren't great, but unfortunately this meal was just a bit of a miss. read more

We LOVED Snoring Bear Diner! For such a small little place, they really pack it in! The menu is extensive and everything we ordered was incredibly delicious. We were traveling with the dogs and stopped in for dinner. They have a covered area outside where your pets are allowed. The server even brought out water & a bowl for the dogs. Little tiny place on the side of the road. If you blink, you might miss it!! Had maybe 5 tables. It wasn't busy so we sat quickly. We were quickly greeted by a super sweet waitress with a smile on her face. She told us about the breakfast special and took our drink orders. My coffee was hot and delicious!! Just what I needed to start a long day. I always like to try the biscuits and gravy at the local restaurants. So I ordered the French toast and a side of biscuit and gravy. Our food was brought to us very quickly. The French toast was delicious!! It reminded me of my Nana's French toast when I was a kid. My side of biscuit and gravy was amazing!!!! The gravy was THE BEST gravy I've ever ate!! I ate the whole thing before I even ate half of my French toast. After we got our food, the place started filling up. Everyone seemed to know what they wanted and said everything was good. This must be a favorite spot for the locals too. Go check it out! The Ruben and onion rings were good. My wife got the smokehouse potato skins with root-beer BBQ sauce from the appetizer menu and they were much better than our local BBQ restaurant in Dyersburg. If we were to do it over, we would have sit outside and enjoyed the nice breeze. read more

We were on our way back from Cade's Cove and were looking for somewhere to support a small business. Food was homecooked and came quick. Was tasty and had a reasonable price. The place is very small. We went on a weekday around 2:30 pm and only one other person was in there. I think there were 6 tables. Might be crazy busy during mealtime and I cannot speak to service at busy times. The server was pleasant and the cook was singing really loudly in the kitchen which was really entertaining. I don't know if he didn't know or care if we could hear him, but it was a good laugh. Wow, what a fun find. If you're exploring the foothills parkway you've got to try this joint. And I do mean joint. The proverbial hole in the wall. Little place you'll miss if you're not looking hard for it. Great service and some of the best food I've had in the American comfort food genre.
