A local gem. Finding a good breakfast place can be hit or miss. Midland is definitely a hit. Coming in around 10:30 on a Monday, I didn't expect it to be busy. I was wrong, but it was worth the wait. We got our names out down and waited about 20 mins for a table to open up. Our server was very nice and super busy. She got our drink orders and then when she came back she got our food orders. I got the breakfast sandwich with ham and the homestyle potatoes and fruit. My husband got the early bird special, which goes until 11. It was a little wait for the food which was completely understandable. When it came out, it came out hot and tasty. The sandwich was served with an omelet style egg and tasted really good. The homefries were delicious, they were cooked with onions that added a little sweetness and had a little crust on them from the flat top. My husband really liked his meal. It was a good sized portion, with 2 biscuits, eggs over easy, 2 sausage patties and gravy. He turned them into little biscuit sandwiches. The biscuit he said was really good and gave me a piece, it was light and fluffy. The food here is down home comfort food that hits the spot. Service is super friendly. The restaurant has that "small town southern feel". If you've never been to a hometown cafe, this is somewhere you can go to experience it. Just remember, hometown cafe is different than chain restaurants - in multiple ways. The service came with that southern hospitality and the staff were friendly. You could tell who the regulars were because the staff would interact with them like they were family. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. I wasnt aware that asking for the correct order was considered rude. Needless to say i wont be back to cut down on the rude customers. what a local gem! I knew we were in for a good experience when our Monday morning wait time was 15 mins. The Midland definitely gives "your grandmas dining room vibes", which is delightful. I noticed immediately how friendly and attentive the staff are. Our waitress, Kelly, was so kind and accommodating. My husband enjoyed the Hungry Sally breakfast that includes delicious, fluffy pancakes and I had the early riser special which comes with biscuits and gravy. Everything was so yummy! I came here for breakfast as I enjoy small mom and pop type places. I arrived and found a line of maybe 10 people. I waited 10-15 minutes. I got seated and placed my order and asked for coffee. My husband ordered the chicken livers. It's more of a typical local diner, as far as atmosphere goes. Nothing fancy and could use with a bit of facelift. Cushions in the booths are worn and torn. The chicken livers were plentiful and good. Turkey dinner was disappointing. Two thin slices of turkey, stuffing was bland. Potatoes were luke warm and gravy was salty (tasted canned). Midland is a great local no frills type of joint. It's always packed for breakfast and the customers are predominately groups of older men. The food is what you would expect from this kind of place. We stopped in here for breakfast on a fairly busy Saturday morning, but only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. The restaurant is comfortable and has an authentic local flair. From what we saw, the diners were a mix of elderly singles, couples, and families, and they seem to do a nice takeout business also. Kinda off the beaten path in a run down strip mall. Upon entry I found the business was drab, dark and needing some serious updating. Old school diner from the 60's-70's feel. I ordered bacon and eggs thought that it was a safe bet. Upon arrival, i found the bacon was burnt and had a bitter taste. The eggs were overcooked with hard yolks as I asked for over easy. I had a biscuit and gravy. The gravy was dark and had a flour taste as if it did incorporate very well in the roux. It didn't have much flavor but floury. The biscuit was dense and not flaky as I would expect. Overall the breakfast was not appetizing and the overall atmosphere of the diner was not a hit for me. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. Hubby had steak and I usually don't like meat enough to order my own but I ate at least half of his steak and all three of my huge pancakes. Our server was so sweet and told us what she recommended while speaking very highly of the cook. Our servers name was brandy I believe, she needs a raise she knew what we needed before we did at every stage of our experience. Unremarkable experience.. Food was okay and came hot. Bacon crispy but eggs overcooked and gravy just had no flavor. Put lots of pepper into ours and barely made a difference. Service was not the kind of friendly service you expect in a small town. We came after the breakfast rush so maybe our waitress (wearing a grandma shirt) was just tired of people and having a rough day. No words of welcome, just what do you want and brought us our food. We gave yes ma'am and thank you ma'am every time she was near us but barely even a look. A local sent us here and told us basic breakfast but good. She was right overall. I know, I know..... I've lived here all my life and this was my first time visiting. Service was good and so was the food. My only complaint (if you want to call it that) was the gravy for the biscuits. I prefer a white gravy but this gravy was burnt brown. It had no flavor and just seemed like a burnt rue. Biscuits were good, eggs, awesome and the bacon was perfectly cooked on the crispy side. That is one thing I can't stand and that's floppy, raw bacon. Shew! Hopefully we will get back sooner than later. I'd like to try their other menu items. read more

This place ain't sexy and I don't think it would claim itself to be. It is however, clean, good and fairly priced. My mom calls it a "greasy spoon". This is our spot where she likes me to take her. As visitors to this area, we were looking for a place to have brunch with friends. We were hoping that Midland would be a comfortable, laid-back setting to linger and catch up. The setting is pleasant and relatively quiet for such a busy environment. There were many customers on a Sunday morning. The food was satisfactory but not great. Pancakes were dry, though the homemade blueberry topping was very tasty (think blueberry pie filling). Staff is friendly but not particularly organized or efficient. We had to ask for silverware after we were served, and a request for bacon cooked crispy was forgotten. All orders for bacon were flabby, and one was half underdone and half dried and burnt--on each piece of bacon. How is that done? Biscuits were okay but not flaky. Grits and French toast were okay but not spectacular. Midland advertises home cooking, which is true only if the cook is not particularly apt nor a conscientious host. read more

The corn bread wasn't great kind of bland and the pinto beans were the same. But everything else was really good.

This might be the best breakfast diner I have ever eaten at. The place was packed when we got there so we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. It was not too bad though. We were seated and got our coffee immediately. The meals come with your standard choice of toast, pancakes, or biscuit. What I did not know was the biscuit came with the gravy. Most other places I have been too for breakfast they charge you for the gravy. I am glad I picked the biscuit because they were delicious. I got two eggs with country ham. The ham was a little overdone but it was still good. This place is still priced like breakfast should be. It is still pretty cheap to eat here. All of our meals were under $10 and it was quality food. Definitely will be back. read more
