what a local gem! I knew we were in for a good experience when our Monday morning wait time was 15 mins. The Midland definitely gives "your grandmas dining room vibes", which is delightful. I noticed immediately how friendly and attentive the staff are. Our waitress, Kelly, was so kind and accommodating. My husband enjoyed the Hungry Sally breakfast that includes delicious, fluffy pancakes and I had the early riser special which comes with biscuits and gravy. Everything was so yummy! The prices are good, but the website needs to be updated as they are several dollars more on the current menu. We look forward to returning!

Midland is a great local no frills type of joint. It's always packed for breakfast and the customers are predominately groups of older men. The food is what you would expect from this kind of place. Standard diner offerings serving up comfort food with efficiency. My omelet was good. The grits were cold. The home fries were awesome.

We stopped in here for breakfast on a fairly busy Saturday morning, but only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. The restaurant is comfortable and has an authentic local flair. From what we saw, the diners were a mix of elderly singles, couples, and families, and they seem to do a nice takeout business also. The staff were very friendly and our server (Brandy, I think) was excellent. Good food at good prices. Thank you!

A good, clean family restaurant with a diverse menu consisting of comfort food and including some healthy options. Service is always friendly. Prices are reasonable. My meat (grilled Alaskan Pollock) and 2 (steamed veggies and a fruit cup) was $7.69 including choice of bread (yeast roll). Plentiful; hot and fresh. I've eaten here twice when I've been in Alcoa. Convenient and quick leaving satisfied and full both times.

Food was excellent & inexpensive. Waitress was wonderful even though they were short handed. Definitely will be back when in the area!

Looking for a home cooked meal like gramma used to make?!?! This is the place! Home made biscuits and gravy. Eggs cooked right! Home-fries just right, with onions! Like home away from home! Definitely will come back again when in the area!

Headed to a Smokies game, we chose to stop into SmashCity for a pregame burger…read more The service and burger came up quickly. I opted for the truffle smash and large fry. My buddy opted for the Spicy Smash. The burgers were mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmm great, Juicy and the bun held up. Fries were fresh and would like to see maybe a topping or poutine option for them. Cool spot to get some AC and great burger before a Smokies game or a night in the old City.

We already had 250 miles under our belt for the day. 4 more hours to home. I was sick of fast food…read moreand we were making good time so we decided to venture off the road, but just a little. SmashCity wasn't far off of the interstate, it had good ratings and although we'd been eating burgers and fries quite a bit on this roadtrip, a good burger and fries really sounded good. All of the reviews were right on - this was absolutely NOT fast food - it was fast, really fast, but the speed was just bonus. As we usually do, we split. We chose the Carolina BBQ smash. The burgers were juicy - if you're not careful, I guarantee you'll be wearing it. Two critiques, it definitely needed more sauce - I just added some of the SmashCity sauce from our fries and it worked but I really would have liked to have had more BBQ sauce. Second, the fried onions were quite burned. I pulled off most of them. The hand cut fries were piping hot, just the right amount of greasy and seasoned perfectly. Splitting the burger was a good call - I'd never have eaten the whole thing myself. The burger and fries were just over $20. When you consider a Big Mac meal at that clown place is $14, SmashCity is almost a bargain. Paul, the owner was like the energizer bunny - he was everywhere at once. Personality oozed from his pores. Make sure you tell him Sue said hi! (He won't remember me but just say hi anyway!) Now I wouldn't say SmashCity has the best burgers - that award goes to our friend Jerry. He makes a pretty mean smash burger on the blackstone. If you have an extra half hour, skip the fast food burger joints, get off that highway, and go let Paul fill your belly for the rest of your trip! You'll appreciate it!

I need to talk about my favorite lunch location in Blount County: Kickback Jacks! This place keeps…read moreimpressing me more and more every time I visit for lunch. I officially love this place! Address: 1139 Franck St. Alcoa, TN 37701 Food: 5/5 I got the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, and it's the best chicken sandwich in Blount County! Perfectly crispy and sauced. The flavors are great, and it's cooked excellently every single time. The fries were also very good and seasoned well. My mom got the Bacon Jam Burger, and she absolutely loved it! Great flavors, but the one thing she would change is having the bacon cooked more so it's crispy instead of floppy. We also got the Nachos for an appetizer, and they were honestly the best nachos I've ever had! The chili and jalapeño cheese sauce were the stars of the dish, and the chips were perfect and didn't break at all. What impressed me the most was that the last time my mom got the nachos, they were not very appealing, but this time around the presentation was spot on. This tells me that this restaurant listens to criticism and fixes its mistakes/issues. ‍ Service: 5/5 Matthew was our server today, and he did a great job! Service was fast, and the staff did an excellent job informing us about additions to the menu. Atmosphere: 5/5 This restaurant is always clean, and the vibes are amazing. This is the place you want to eat at while watching sports. You'll feel right at home if you're a sports fan looking for a great place to eat. Value: 5/5 Our lunch was absolutely worth the price we paid. The portions were great, and we left full without feeling like we wasted anything we ordered. Final Thoughts Kickback Jacks is the place to be for a great lunch or a fun hangout spot to watch any sporting event. I highly recommend ordering the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and the Nachos. So kick it back with Jacks and experience a great meal! FEAST Overall Rating: 5/5 Would I Go Back?: Absolutely
