We had such a lovely Sunday breakfast at "The Diner". Jennifer was amazing! She immediately served us coffee, gave us time to review the extensive menu, and continued to be extremely attentive. Love this place, nice variety of breakfast and lunch choices, not open for dinner. although the 5 egg omelet is a little much for the senior crowd, can break it down to 3 egg, the French fries are the best in Palm Beach County cut fresh, and they load the plate with them even as a side. I went for breakfast here because a gluten-free app said this restaurant had many options. Their "many options" turns out to be toast. No GF pancakes, waffles, muffins, etc. The GF bread they serve is the worst brand on the market. Much better gluten free bread at The Owl and at The Turning Point. We decided to go to The Diner while visiting family and we wanted to go somewhere that was great for little kids and relaxed, had good comfort food, and was local! The restaurant hit all the marks for us! It's a diner so it's not the quietest place, but when you have kiddos with you - that's not a problem! I haven't been here in a hot minute. We use to come for breakfast all the time but we came for lunch for the first time and I loved it! I didn't realize that they were open for lunch and it was way more chill than it is at breakfast. Mae were able to seat ourselves since it wasn't busy. They have outdoor seating if you prefer. The staff was friendly. Our waitress was very sweet and accommodating. My husband ordered the gyro platter with fries and he raved about it. I got a French dip with Caesar salad. The French dip was good but I was 100% sold in the bread. But the meat and aus jus was delicious. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've had in a long time! First, it was a huge salad. Not skimpy at all. And the dressing was divine. I'm not sure what brand they use but it was the creamiest dressing I've had in a very long time. We can't wait to come back for lunch!!! read more

I ordered from the Uber app, and an item was not available. The restaurant called me to offer another option but I declined having pork or turkey breast for breakfast. I asked for chicken tenders but told there was a price difference. I had no issue with paying the price difference but told it was not an option. Since there was no resolution, the manager advised me to CANCEL the order on Uber because she could not do so. What the manager failed to explain is that I would still get charged the full amount from Uber for food & delivery. When I brought this to The Diner's attention, the manager stated that since it is a 3rd party, they could not assist; rather than LISTEN to my feedback to TRAIN THE MANAGEMENT on 3rd party cancellations. And that they DO have the ability to cancel an order. Sadly this interaction has inspired me to remove The Diner from our company's directory for recommended local eats. read more

My only criticism is that half of the plate was home fries while the steak was kind of small. Home fries is a side, so it shouldn't be larger than the main dish. Unfortunately they don't offer coffee cake or pies, but it would be great if there was an option. PRICES The pricing was good considering how crazy food prices have been lately. When you have a craving for good old American food, yet want nutrition, no Canola, no high fructose, and only the freshest, best ingredients, at really affordable prices--The Diner in Boynton Beach at Gateway, is far and away the place to go. We drove 13 miles for brunch because it's so rare to be able to trust the oils and sweeteners in restaurant food--especially American diners. But, trust we do at The Diner, and I didn't even mention the ridiculously generous portions. We had an avocado eggs Benedict with 3 poached eggs, poached to perfection, grilled tomatoes and home fries--so delicious--and the Popeye omelet with ham and Swiss and your choice of toast. These were both excellent, and again, so generous. The coffee too is a surprising quality for American diner fare. The servers, although hopping busy, never failed to fill our cups. Kudos to Michael for making sure even the smallest details are excellent--like where can you find a restaurant that buys organic ketchup with NO high fructose. Answer: so far we have never seen this except at this amazing diner. Thanks so much for not caving in to conformity and to big food industry pressure, and really caring about people and especially children. The diner is one of those places you go to out of convenience, and not necessarily the food. Now don't get me wrong, it isn't bad by any means, just not stellar. This go around I had a veggie omelette with home fries. The food definitely needs some salt, pepper and hot sauce. The omlete it's self was good... but a little too much cheese in the middle for my liking. Mix it up! The burger is actually pretty damn good and I'd order it again if I came back. Service is always spotty here, you don't get the hometown love, but everyone is pleasant enough. Outside seating makes the experience all the better. ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER. Pretty much everyone who works there is conveniently blind and will look right through you. Best of all, when they Mess up your takeout order, they CHARGE YOU to redo THEIR MISTAKE. Fat, dumpy looking woman lied to my husband on the phone saying they'd fix the order. So I drove all the way there and then she proceeded to tell me she was charging me, despite the fact that it was their mistake and she ADMITTED IT on the phone. I've eaten here twice before and thought I wrote a review but perhaps not. Service is always good here. The staff is friendly and constantly filling water glasses and coffee mugs. I usually get breakfast fare but wanted to try something else. Our server recommended the chicken salad so I opted for 1/2 sandwich and soup which was clam chowder. The chowder was good but could use more clam and potato pieces. The chicken salad was super disappointing. It really had no taste and I tried to help it with salt and pepper but it was still boring. Our iced teas were so watery with no flavor and at $3.35 defibrillator a rip off. Not sure I'll be back after this visit. read more

Good food that's abundant. However, my friend's breakfast seemed better than mine. I tried a new menu item, avocado toast. It come with your choice of thick sliced bread covered in a thick layer or avocado and a drizzle of olive oil and eggs on the side done however you like them. The eggs were perfectly done scrambled medium. The avocado toast was as described but I'm not sure the bread was toasted. No part was crispy. The bread was topped with a generous portion of avocado with the drizzle of olive oil but no seasoning at all so it was rather bland. Oh!! It came with fresh fruit salad too. And yes it was fresh and delicious. Honeydew melon, grapes, strawberries, and pineapple. Our server was very nice and attentive. This group meets there somewhat regularly so she knew to make separate checks for everyone. The seating was comfortable. Even though there were several people we were not crammed in elbow to elbow. The ladies room was clean and tidy. I would definitely go back again but I would order something else. I like a bit more seasoning in my food. read more

We stopped in the diner for a quick brunch on a Sunday. Due to COVID-19 everyone had to wear masks while in the restaurant, when you weren't sitting at your table. Our server was prompt and arrived at our table quickly and efficiently. We requested some recommendations from her. She recommended the Benedicts.... my boyfriend ordered the avocado eggs Benedict and I ordered the country fried steak. Both our items were delicious. The serving was a huge size. And the price was very reasonable. Both items were incredibly delicious, although I did not eat mine. The issue that we did have was that the plate that I was served my country fried steak on had a giant chip in it. We mentioned it to the server and she brushed it off and said the chip had been there for a long time. Unfortunately, I was nervous because I could not tell if a piece of ceramic/glass was in my food. We were also nervous that the restaurant uses plates that have chips in them. This was a large chip, not a small chip, they must have seen it when they were plating my food. Unfortunately, our server did not take our concern about the chip seriously. I would have expected that she would have offered to get me a new plate of food because of my concern. Unfortunately no effort was made to correct the issue. this is a health code violation. Our Yelp challenge in 2022 is to try as many local diners in south Florida as we can...and to find the best one! Location #4 - The Diner, Boynton Beach The Diner is conveniently located in Quantum Village near High Ridge Road and Gateway Boulevard, about 30 seconds from I-95. It came highly recommended to us by some friends and I've been meaning to check it out for some time. With our 2022 Diner quest in full swing, it seemed like a great time to go. They were very busy upon arrival but luckily there's a big lot outside so parking wasn't a hassle. The crowd was mostly older folks and the place was jam packed. It also looked like they were overrun and struggling with Uber Eats/Door Dash type orders. There was a persistent and somewhat disruptive flow of pickups the entire time we were there. The decor is modern and plain and the atmosphere was both cozy and comfortable. The noise level was fine despite the big crowd. We got a big booth which was spacious and clean. I did not get a good vibe from the waitress who was surly the entire time. But then again, it's a diner so we were not expecting white glove service or anything. Personality aside, service was also slow. It took a good 10 to 15 minutes to order and 20 to 25 minutes to get our food which was annoying. We also had to ask for drink refills and napkins. For our meal I went with the Omelette Ole, which comes with jalapenos, tomatoes, onions and jack cheese. I also ordered extra crispy home fries and an English Muffin. My wife went with the Mahi Reuben with a side salad. For my omelette I asked for egg whites and I also asked if the jalapeños were fresh or pickled. The waitress said they were fresh which is exactly what I wanted. When I asked again to double check, she again said yes, it was fresh, because they don't have pickled jalapeños in the kitchen. OK I thought. Unfortunately, my omelette comes out and of course it has a boatload of pickled jalapeños in it, which I really despise. On top of it, the omelette was not made with egg whites as requested. I decided to eat around the jalapeños and thought the omelette quality was pretty good. It was big and well seasoned and would have been awesome if it had fresh jalapeños and egg whites as I wanted. The home fries were absolutely awful. They were not extra crispy as ordered or even crispy. They were served stone cold. They must have been nice at 6am when they first made them. But poorly heated home fries at 1130am don't cut it. My meal aside, my wife really liked her sandwich. She said it was fresh and flavorful and she was surprised that the Mahi was as good as it was. Final food note, the coffee was really terrible. I haven't ordered diner coffee in quite a while and just started to do so on our diner challenge. Usually I'm a Starbucks person but I don't mind diner coffee if it's fresh. Anyway, this trend of diners charging $3 or more for a cup of coffee is really ridiculous, especially when the quality is so poor. The quality is just not there for that kind of pricing. It should be a buck, maybe a buck fifty at most. Overall, our meal was a mixed bag. My wife had a really nice experience but I was kind of annoyed with my food not being prepared as ordered, the crap coffee and with the level of service we received. Three stars, all for my wife's lunch. Summary: Food (3/5) - My wife had a great lunch, but mine was not made to order and the coffee totally sucked. Atmosphere (4/5) - It's a nice, comfortable restaurant. Everything was very clean which was impressive considering the crowd. Service (2/5) - I was not impressed with our waitress who botched my order or the time it took to order and receive our food. Value (3/5) - $36 for brunch with terrible coffee and 1 dish not made as ordered...Not amazing. We stopped here for a late lunch on Wednesday March 6 in Boynton Beach in search of Quartz counter tops that was nearby and we were happy we did, it was only opened until 4PM. We walked in roughly around 3:30 and were seated by the Owner Mike who was very friendly and pleasant to talk with. He explained that they were a Breakfast and Lunch Diner. This location was quaint and very clean, there were still a lot of people eating here when we walked in. Our Server Kim came over handed us our menu, took our drink order, and came back with our coffee with glasses of water. The coffees were really good not watered down like some of the other locations we've been to and the water tasted really good without any weird tastes where you have to disguise it with lemons. My wife ordered the Greek Salad and I had the Gryo Platter. When Kim came back within 15 minutes and placed the plates in front of us, we couldn't believe how huge the orders were. They were mounds of salads and were very crisp and fresh on both our plates. On my Gyro platter was a lot of moist tender flavorful meat over quartered Flat Bread centered between the salad and a mound of crispy French Fry's with a large side a Tzatziki Sauce. This has to be the best Gyro Platter I've had since relocating from NYC. There aren't many good diners here in Palm Beach County like in NY, but I have to say this Diner has to be the best one we've been to and I would drive all the way here to try out the rest of their menu. Met a friend here for brunch. I have always loved the diner experience. This place did not disappoint. Today I ordered a BLT with egg a girls got to get her pro Tien! It was absolutely delicious! Our server was lovely and checked in as regularly. The portions were big. my friend got a Gyro with fries. The fries could've serve three people.
