This was a great post night out brunch spot for my friend's bachelorette party. We came on a Saturday late morning, so outdoor seating was pretty packed, but we were seated inside pretty quickly. Most of our party got the breakfast burrito and enjoyed it. I went for their signature big breakfast with bacon, sausage, 2 eggs scrambled, potatoes, and a blueberry pancake. It was perfect hangover food. Our waitress was extremely friendly. Our group was happy with their food. It's a cute diner. My blueberry pancake was a bit undercooked, but I ate around it. I'm not sure how this place has the score it does because I was very underwhelmed. Starting with parking, tight space against the railroad tracks and industrial bays. Doesn't scream breakfast place! The first person who say out group made us feel very unwelcome. It was a weird vibe and we all felt it to the point we almost got up to leave. Then the second waitress was either hung over or just didn't want to be there. She was nice enough but totally out to lunch. We all ordered and our food came out timely. We were very close to train tracks and while the weather outside was beautiful, it was kind of ruined by the train. Not anyone's fault, just stating the ambiance. The food was average at best. Two of five of us had overdone eggs, one order on a bagel and they brought it out on a roll (they did take it away and fixed it then she was just sitting there waiting). The pancakes were good but a bit dense. No lock on the bathroom door, which makes for an uncomfortable feeling! And it could have used a cleaning. Overall, I don't think we will return. read more

This is my second time here and I came back because the service and food was great. However I'm here for a second time and I am super disappointed. The service was horrible. One waitress seemed completely lost and forgetful. The other waitress never gave us what we asked for. I had to go inside and grab what we needed. No utensils were provided, we didn't get a refill for the longest. The food is amazing but they need to do something about their customer service. There was a couple paying their bill so we waited 5 minutes for a table outside. Very low key place. Just a couple employees, but they do a good job of checking up on everyone. Menus on the table, so you don't have to wait on someone to bring them over. Mimosas were good, nice champagne to oj ratio. Cute location, easy parking. Salmon platter was good. The menu description said it came with feta, but it arrived sans feta. Just feels like the dish was very minimal. Not much salad, very few onions. Decent amount of fish though. From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall or dive. But that's also part of its charm, much like reading the morning paper while having brunch as the Trirail or some train passes by on the tracks adjacent to the parking lot. It was a beautiful day to sit outdoors and we were lucky enough to find a covered table quickly. However we were slow to be served, which was ok as it took me a while to find something that caught my interest. I settled on the quiche of the day, a side of corned beef hash, and home fries. Hubs got the traditional breakfast with a coconut pancake. I usually do a good job of choosing my meal but not today. The quiche of the day was some mushroom, bacon, spinach combo but I didn't really taste anything but a sweet crust and grease. The corned beef hash (the canned variety) was good and went well with the home fries. My husband's meal on the other hand looked far more appetizing, and filling...and was. His coconut pancake was huge and very tasty. He cleaned his plate so the rest of it must have been good too. Prices are more affordable than other areas on the east side. They are only open for dinner on the weekends so this was our first time. Usually, this is a solid stop for breakfast for our household. We had the mussels in garlic & white wine sauce as well as the chicken marsala. Excellent dinner for an amazing price!!!!!!!!! Extremely affordable! I kick myself for not coming here sooner. I have walked and driven by this cafe many times and never have stopped in to see what the hype is all about. We got there after noon on a Sunday and they were busy. Luckily, the four of us only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table outside. The menu offers breakfast and lunch and I went for the monti cristo sandwich. Two pieces of French toast with ham, turkey, and swiss cheese packed in between and a side of jelly and French fries. Hallelujah for a fantastic lunch :) The spot is perfect for people watching and our lovely server kept a smile on our faces the whole time. We shared a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes which were also super fluffy & delicious... The service is definitely a Lil slow about 35 to 40 minutes from the time we ordered till it hit our table ... the coffee kept coming so that was a good thing ... We got the Benedict and the ocean special with French toast. Everything was amazing, especially the extra crispy home fries! The food was clean and while we ate every crumb on our plate we didn't feel bloated or like the food had a ton of grease like an average diner. We were over charged! Before I ordered the pancakes I asked if we ordered two different types would it still be the same price. Waitress said yes. Pancakes are $8, comes with two, plus $1.50 each for specialty which we got. That's $11. They charged us $6.50 each. BTW, They don't have pancakes by themselves on the menu. The waitress called the owner and the owner said the bill was correct even the the menu stated otherwise. You can see the menu and bill in the pics. Woke up this morning and wanting a good breakfast but did not want the usual... then I remembered this Cinnamon Roll I had a couple of years back at this local joint on Ocean Ave near Federal in Boynton Beach. We got there and found a nice table outside... the table umbrellas look like little Tiki Huts....Which makes it a local joint : ) My wife got the bacon cheddar broccoli quiche that came with breakfast potatoes... it came with cheese crusted on outside which we thought was different but the result was great. Potatoes were cooked well also. I got the French Toast made with Ciabatta bread. Also a winner my plate was clean at the end and still had enough room for that warm Cinnamon Roll with Bacon on top... yes I said Bacon on top. Service was great got refills of my coffee without out a wait... tables turned quickly. At the table next to us was a family and the dad got a egg sandwich on what looked like a big ole kaiser bun.... next time that is what I am going to try. Out of town friends were visiting and that was enough of a reason to try this place out. Normally the area will have some sort of craft exhibits happening but on this Saturday morning the place was pretty quiet. We were welcomed and then seated at a round iron table. Since I was a little chilly we sat in the sun and proceeded to get further warmed with mimosas. I saw quiche so I ordered quiche and let the others debate in confusion on what brunch items they will have. Presentation wasn't all that great but Ioved having my food first while others watched me eat. Quiche was great - nothing special about the home fries with taste. But they also weren't cooked evenly with some solid hard sections in the bites. Once the rest of the food appeared it looked like a buffet on our table. There weren't very many customers especially for a Saturday but our service was slow. 3 requests for lemons, got our food and had to wait for silverware. My omelet lacked flavor and had a greasy taste to it. Our server was not very friendly and seemed out of it until, of course, our bill came. We where looking forward to trying this local brunch place out after reading thru all the Yelp reviews and I have to say it wasn't what we expected. This place has been around forever, nice little patio with umbrellas everywhere, on the inside a small interior wall mounted air conditioner and a thousand wall fans blowing hot air all over. The waitress a cute little thing that was dressed as If she just rolled outa bed with her oversized tie dye sweats and lumberjack top who have zero shits helped seat us. A helpful young man got us drinks and then took our order. There wasnt to many people there but our order took 20-mins for some reason? I ordered Eggs Benedict and home frys and my boo ordered waffles which she was looking forward to having. The good: eggs where cooked perfectly with a nice hollandaise sauce. The Bad: The home fries tasted frozen and not reheated properly had that soggy feel and tasted slightly freezer burnt. The waffles seemed store bought and also came out flimsy and tasted not like one would expect from a homemade waffle. I asked the kid do you make these in house and he said yes but told me the freeze then and reheat after? And then told me they make the potatoes to order which I was sure wasnt the case. The people at ocean cafe are extremely lucky kiki's isnt closer cause they would put this place out of business in a second. And a message to them guys you need to go thru all ur doing and remake yourselves into what u aspire to be cause reheating frozen food store bought or poorly made isnt a good thing.
