I've been thinking of trying The Delectable Egg for some time and finally stopped in this morning. I wanted to like this place, it's close to work, the prices seemed reasonable and it's been here for a while. Unfortunately, this isn't anything memorable...it reminded me of a Denny's from 1995. When I'm not in love with something, I don't see much benefit to spending too much time with a lengthy review. So, let me give you the basic breakdown here. Pros My daughter and I were seated promptly and the host was friendly. The kids menu has a decent selection and my kiddos breakfast was only $4...plus the cost of a chocolate milk (Roughly $7) Cons I ordered a Denver Omelette and the "ingredients" were all placed on the top, with the exception of one piece of cheese placed inside the omelette. Half my potatoes (placed on the bottom of the serving) were charred and inedible. Our waiter was sitting at the table right next to us, eating his own breakfast. Doesn't give off the impression he can actually be attentive to the customers. In fact, he "checked" on us once, and that's when he brought the check. Maybe I need to try them again and order a skillet. Maybe I need to just avoid them in the future and enjoy one of the many other breakfast establishments in the area. In addition to my sloppy breakfast, the service was slow as there were only 2 waitresses working a full restaurant. My waitress never came by to grab my card so I went to the hostesss stand to pay and still had to wait several minutes because the hostess was nowhere to be seen. It was overall a disappointing experience. I came here yesterday for breakfast too and ordered a Denver omelette, which was just ok. Instead of the veggies and cheese being cooked inside the omelette. Only some peppers were cooked inside and the cheese was melted on top with a slice of ham over the top of it as well. When I get an omelette I want everything to be mixed inside with melted cheese. It was just strange, hence ordering a different breakfast this morning which was just bad. Overall, the restaurant is just meh. Will I return? Ehh probably, because other than Starbucks around the corner there's really no other breakfast spots nearby. I waited upwards towards 15 minutes to be greeted by my waiter before my patience ran out. I walked to the host and asked him to take my order. He apologized for the slow service, insisting my waiter was somehow busy taking a cocktail order from another table(?). Twenty minutes go by, and a woman (who I assume was supposed to be my waitress) brings me a cold Denver omelette. Donzo. I put on my jacket and left. There are tons of restaurants in the immediate vacinity and I'm not going to eat cold eggs. If they don't want my business, I can take a hint. The food isn't anything special that I crave and just HAVE to have, but it fills up my belly early in the morning or the beginning of the afternoon. The portions are big and are typically enough for me to have 2 meals (unless my tummy is yelling at me for some protein and such. Then I have to listen and gobble everything up in one sitting!). The menu is huge, so there should be something for everyone here, whether it be for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Prices are super reasonable, which is a big plus in my book. Big meal for little dollars? Yes please. Every time that I come, the staff is friendly and lovely. They will make sure that your table has enough coffee to go around (keep that caffeine coming!). Sometimes, the service is a little slow, but it's a big restaurant so it's understandable. There typically isn't too much of a wait (even if you come in with a large group, as I used to do with my coworkers).
