The Delectable Egg is one of those places I've always heard good things about, but hadn't gotten around to checking out. As far as first impressions go, it was crowded and in a strip mall. Crowds are always good for a breakfast joint, right? The decor was sterile, but not bland, and the place was filled with natural light. Got it? Ok. On to the stuff you're probably looking for... I'm a breakfast guy. I really digs me some eggs and hashbrowns and really don't get all too picky unless things get nasty. The Delectable Egg has one HELL of a selection for the breakfast people of the world and basically met my less than demanding expectations. I ordered the "Orange County," which was a veggie benedict in omelette form. Service was quick and the order was accurate. The omelette was light and fluffy, the tomato was fresh, and the bed of cubed potato hash browns was well seasoned and quite tasty. On the negative side, it wasn't exactly hot (which is surprising, considering how quick it was served up) and the avocado was bruised. The coffee was decent and the individual pot that came along with it was great. My girlfriend ordered diet coke and it, too, came with an individual carafe. Little stuff like that always wins me over. Are you curious about the little stuff that DOESN'T win me over? A tiny black hair on my plate, discovered near the end of my meal, never wins me over. :-/ Oh, well. It wasn't a hair net issue - just one of those things that happens when humans and food meet. Will I go out of my way to check this particular place out again? I doubt it. That said, the huge selection is a crowd pleaser and it definitely fills its role. read more

I have celiac and this restaurant has been great up until yesterday. I ordered a burger and asked for gluten free bread, something I've done several times before with no problem. The burger came put on rye bread and I sent it back. A few minutes later I got one on gluten free bread, but it wasn't toasted and there was very little cheese or grilled onion. About half way through it struck me that they just took the burger from the wrong order and put it on gluten free bread. About four hours later, my suspicion was confirmed and I got really ill. Not only was that a health department violation to re-serve food that was sent back, but it is a very dangerous thing to do with allergens. To make it even worse, yesterday was my son's first birthday party and I felt ill when I should have been enjoying a wonderful life event. Shameful service! read more

We knew this place was a chain so we weren't expecting too any special and figured it would be a nice place. We saw a Living Social/Groupon deal so we thought it was a good chance to check it out. There was a line but we still got in before 5 mins which was nice. The staff is really friendly and nice. The food came out quickly and looked good. Basically, this is a nice and easy place to go for breakfast. Taste and feels like every other breakfast chain on there. However, since there isn't too many breakfast joints in the area, it's not a bad place. But I probably won't be making the drive out there again for it. read more

This place is ordinary. The ingredients feel like the stuff you'd get at Safeway. Not particularly fresh but not past their date. When we were waiting in line, at the front, the hostess asked a father, three teenaged boys, and a 4-year-old "How many kids' menus do you want?" That's embarrassing to the teenagers. The omelette I had was on the small side, and didn't have that much filling. The tomatoes I ordered in place of toast were, as mentioned above, not particularly fresh. From the outside of the place, it looks a lot cleaner than it actually is. It's not dirty, per se, but there are places on the walls where the paint has chipped off and little bits of straw wrappers and food are here and there on the floor. It feels like these guys are on auto-pilot. They are in a great location for getting suburban customers, have enough to coast, and they're going with it. read more

Delectable Egg's waffles are my favorite waffles! All of the items I have ordered really have been delectable. The servers are usually quite friendly and prompt. The prices are moderate, but given the portion size (usually a bit more than I can eat in a brunch sitting after I split a waffle with my girlfriend) it's within reason. I happily return whenever a brunch opportunity arises. read more

We have lived within walking distance of this place for 3 years... and tried it for the first time in August and then again today. I have to say we have been very happy with this place. We are kind of breakfast snobs... we don't do IHOP, Denny's or any large corporate chains, we prefer locally owned places with high quality breakfasts. The Delectable Egg did not disappoint. The first time we went here we were really happy, then today we are both happy with her meals... my husband got the sweet potato hash and I got the crab cake benedict, my daughter was very happy with her bear cake (pancake in the shape of a bear head) with 2 slices of bacon, for only $3.95... can't beat that. Best part, we don't have to drive far distances anymore for a great breakfast. We can just roll out of bed and walk over. read more

We were in Lowry and decided to brunch at the Delectable Egg. Let me start by saying we had a wonderful, pleasant, server. She was terrific. When she brought our Arnold Palmers, we didn't recognize what we were tasting. Both the tea and lemonade were so weak we sent them back, the replacements were no better. Our eggs were well cooked. The home fries were so dried out and hard they were inedible. It seemed they were cooked far earlier and set aside on the grill, sad because I haven't met too many potatoes I can't eat! The sausage links had been cut in half lengthwise and were dry and also inedible. Did they cut them to make it seem like more? The pancake was ok, but the syrup was some kind of fake maple stuff, gooey and awful. Needless to say, we don't recommend this restaurant! read more

I had avoided this place in the past due to the mediocre to bad reviews, but decided that maybe I should try it and decide for myself. In reality, my experience here was really more like '3.5' stars, but opted to round up since I had no major complaints. I arrived here for breakfast during the week around 9:30 and found them to be doing a moderate business (the place appeared to be about half full of diners), which I took as a good sign. I was immediately seated with a menu and only waited a few minutes for a server to appear. A carafe of iced water and a glass were already on the table when I sat down, so that was nice. I ordered the Aspen Alley Skillet (House specialty potatoes with broccoli, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, melted cheese and two eggs any style - $9.45) and added bacon to it which brought the price up to $10.20 (I thought that was very reasonable). Overall the dish was very good. The food wasn't overly salted, which is a big plus for me as I prefer to add my own. In fact, this is one of the few dishes I've had in a restaurant where I actually used the salt shaker. Again, this is not a complaint. My only issue with the food was that my toast was a bit over-toasted (i.e. too crunchy), and my over-easy eggs were more like over-medium. Not major issues, but still something the kitchen might want to take note of. One thing that really surprised me was how fast the food came out - like five minutes! Everything was hot, but I wondered how they had time to overcook the toast and eggs... Service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant is clean and pleasant, but showing some signs of wear in places. The fabric on the back of my booth was ripped in a couple of places and the seat itself was not very comfortable. As an 'old fart', I liked the music that was playing, though - oldies from the 60's and 70's. I also liked that they had two types of hot sauce on the tables - the mild Cholula, and a chunky hot one (forgot the brand). All-in-all, my experience was positive and I'll eat here again. We ordered to pickup and they completey screwed up our order. There were three hostesses standing at the front counter when we walked in , all chit chatting. Maybe if just one of them was paying enough attention they wouldve heard I wanted white bread, not rye. I said white bread THREE times. I wanted absolutely NOTHING on my scrambled eggs and they dressed it up with chives and tomatoes. And my potatoes are literally soaking in grease. I cannot eat this. It's gushing grease. I have been to this location a few times, and this past Sunday, it wasn't as busy as I feared it would be. I was there around 9:30am; so, maybe I missed the rush. Anyway, I had a coupon for a free meal for my birthday. I ordered coffee and the basic breakfast, 2 eggs with ham, hashbrowns, and an English muffin. I wanted the eggs over medium, and I got good eggs! I think over medium seems to be a challenge for cooks sometimes even at this place. I took the ham home for my dogs and didn't eat the English muffin there either. Honestly, I was pretty full after the eggs and potatoes. The coffee was good, too. My waitress was friendly but not overbearing. With the coupon, I only was charged under $3 before tip. The coupon made it a really good deal! read more

Came in on a Sunday at 10:44 am, luckily there wasn't a wait so we were seated immediately. We ordered Steak & Eggs (I asked for the steak medium well and the eggs over medium), Belgian Waffle, side of potatoes, side of bacon and biscuits & gravy. Service was decent, although it seems like it took awhile to get our food. Once our food got there, it was disappointing that the steak was not cooked medium well, at best it was medium. Our server never checked back on us, luckily we had plenty of food. The biscuits & gravy were really good; the biscuit was nice and fluffy and the gravy had good flavor. The belgian waffle was okay, I've had better. When she brought us our bill, I told her that the steak was not cooked medium well and the cook/chef needed to know. Overall, yay! I'm a fan. My food was good and pretty reasonable. They have extremely fast service, and some really healthy choices on the menu. They are also willing to substitute sides without an extra charge. Wow! Their omelettes are huge, so I cut mine in half and planned to take the rest to go. When I asked for a box, I planned on taking home two pieces of toast and the rest of my omelette. This is the reason they lost a star, the server brings me the tiniest box, enough room for the omelette but where am I suppose to put my toast, I guess on top of the omelette and it get soaked with salsa :( read more

Even though it only had 3 stars, I still wanted to give it a try since it's the only nearby breakfast place around I know of. All of the food was amazing! The only problem with this specific location is it's staff. Our server was decent, but she had her daughter, or someone's daughter, running around the restaurant while we were there. This was a disappointment...my California eggs benedict arrived with a watery hollandaise sauce (clearly from a powder). One of my eggs was simply a poached egg white. The avocado slices were bland and dry, as if they had been cut the day before. The server responded appropriately when I told her about the missing yolk, bringing me a fresh poached egg and an extra serving of hollandaise, which would have made my day if it were real. Great food. Crap service. I have been in the service industry for years, and I was ashamed to pay for my food. Ordered a 5 top, only brought out 4 plates of food. 5th person had to wait 15minutes for his waffle on top of all of us waiting 30minutes for the food they did bring out. Complained to another red headed waitress and got a nonchalant reply. Talked to the manager, it probably would've done more good to talk to a brick wall. Horrible service, horrible manager. This place sucks!!! First off, the orange juice is probably less natural than the tropicana I get at the store. The blueberry pancakes are overcooked and whole-wheat. The blueberries are tasteless and don't complement the pancake at all. The big wad of butter on the pancake is typical of brunch places, but extremely inconvenient to take off. My dad had the eggs, which he said were terrible, kind of like the coffee. I'm not sure how the sandwiches are, but if the rest of the menu is any indication, I think it sucks. read more
