Wow! I have been dying to try out this East African Cafe near me. I read online that they serve Ethiopian and Eritrean food which I haven't had a whole lot of in the past. The food was amazingly flavorful! I ordered the Awaze TIBS which were marinated beef cubes with some spices and onions. I wasn't sure what the bread was but it was so soft and complimented the rest of the dish nicely. Our waitress was friendly and helped explain the menu ingredients and dishes to us and also served us drinks at the bar. There is plenty of seating and the whole vibe of the place felt modern but also like a hole in the wall type of spot, which is the best. The owner also invited us to change the music on his iPad, which controlled the tunes in the restaurant but we loved the local east African music they had on. I can't wait to come back and try their breakfast sandwiches

We stopped here randomly as we were in the area. I got the egg sandwich and my boyfriend got the scramble. Everything seemed very fresh! The egg sandwich was a large portion! Came with bell peppers, avocado, onions, and I think jicama. The eggs were cooked perfectly! I could only finish half. My boyfriend loved his scramble which was served with a side of delicious bread. They didn't have ice tea, so I had some of my boyfriends coffee. The coffee was excellent! The staff was very friendly!!! We were pleasantly surprised to find this place!

The build-your-own skillet and the pancakes (whether you get them gluten-free or regular) are must-tries. The prices are also pretty affordable. You order at the cash register first and then find a seat, so keep that in mind. We went during a slower time, but I can definitely see this place getting busy during peak hours. There's a parking lot and there's additional seating available outside. Overall, it's a great spot for breakfast or lunch, and we'll definitely be back!

The menu is on the wall and hard to read so I asked the woman behind the counter if they had a paper menu, She rolled her eyes and pushed one across the counter like I was inconveniening her. I placed my order, and she told me to go find a table and the food would be out soon. As soon as I sat down, she came out and brought me my coffee. I asked for cream and sugar, and she said it was on the counter inside. It was a giant cup of coffee (which is awesome) but it was filled to the top. So I burned my hand when I spilled it, trying to get in sugar. By this time I was very frustrated. I went back to my table and my food came up almost immediately. The server was smiling and friendly. The food looked amazing and tasted even better. Iordered almond les leches french toast, cheese grits and bacon. The greats are okay, but nothing specia but the french toast was out of this world. It was thick, cut, smoked bacon that tasted fantastic. The server and the food saved this visit for me. I am going to assume that the woman at the counter was having a bad day and not let it keep me from coming back.

Every once in a while, I like to come visit my old neighborhood just for the memories. We like to go to the Cherry Tomato across the street because it was the Park Hill Drug Store when I lived on the block, but it doesn't open until later. So, this place is right across the street, and we stopped in. We were delighted. For us, it was just what a small cafe should be. It was open, friendly, and very good. I had the Vegetarian Green Chili, and found it to be as good, or better than any similar chili I've had in my entire life. I also had a plain, black coffee - dark roast - and it, too, was perfect. Most of all, I enjoyed looking around, watching the world go by, and enjoying these fine products in a friendly, comfortable, and inviting environment. There is plenty of room to move around, they do a good job of keeping things clean, and all of the staff are very nice, and accommodating. I do not live close to here, but I would come in every day if I did. I definitely will come back, and I definitely will recommend it to everyone I know. We LOVED it.
