A foam takeout container holds a meal consisting of seasoned rice with mixed vegetables, cooked lamb pieces, a side salad with lettuce and a lemon wedge, and a fried samosa. The container is partially open, revealing the food inside, and appears to be a Middle Eastern or South Asian cuisine dish.

Loved this place! Went back the next day for more! Great customer service with a very clean and sanitized space.

New to the neighborhood so the wife & I stopped in for a quick coffee. Mohammed was very nice & accommodating. My wife had a Chai latte & just a regular latte for me. Delicious, no more Starbucks for us! Mohammed let us sample the sambusa. It was excellent, a nice mince chicken in pastry dough that is nicely spiced. We will be regulars.

omg the food was so delicious, so reasonably priced, friendly service.

Fresh coffee, inexpensive, good vibe. A pleasant change from cookie cutter places to sit and have coffee.

I've never had Somali food but the spices were perfect-- the "sweet" bread was not too sweet, the tea was amazing.

I really enjoyed the fried fish of the day, chicken tikka, chicken shawarma, goat, lamb shank, and the rice was so memorable. Every bite was giving me the happy food dance! There were some language challenges with the server, but the chef came out, and he was so kind and friendly. We were very excited and couldn't wait to try all of the dishes after ordering. This East African and halal restaurant has had multiple owners and the current ownership has done an incredible job with the menu. It is very simple with wonderful signature dishes but all of the dishes are a must order. We enjoyed every single one, but the fried fish of the day and moist and flavorful chicken definitely stood out and had an amazing green chili sauce served with it. The hot sauce was a light green colored chili sauce was such a great compliment to each dish and totally elevated the burst of flavor. I think it's the basbaas hot sauce. So good! I could eat it on everything! Another note was that the chicken dishes were so moist and perfectly cooked. Most of the meat dishes fell off the bone. I really hope to go back with friends so they can explain and share more details about some of the amazing halal dishes that we had. I'm not so sure what was in the "veggie" soup but it was so yummy and I would go there just for coffee, the soup and a sambusa for a quick lunch or snack. The spices and flavors were incredible! The chef shared that there were lots of different types of veggies in the soup, but it definitely had some sort of flavor of lamb or goat in addition to the amazing veggies and spices. After leaving we also stopped at the Mandeeq Cafe for some STRONG and bold coffee. I have been to the restaurant over the years and one of the best features about the restaurant is that there are so many elements of Chinese design and decor throughout the space. Prior to being a destination halal restaurant in a diverse corridor it was a Chinese restaurant for a very long time. I love enjoying the African delicious entrées from Mandeeq and looking at the ceiling tiles with lots of Asian influence. Makes my heart happy that this incredible restaurant exists and occupies a space with elements of Asian decor too. The restaurant is definitely a no-frills and could use some upgrades, but that's part of the charm. I also love that it's a very busy community space and you see lots of different members of the community going in for lunch or a snack or even just a quick coffee. Another note is that sometimes there is a language barrier, but the service and staff is just so incredibly friendly and kind. Be patient, open minded and kind. Please be respectful of the halal restaurant and enjoy the amazing cuisine that Mandeeq has been serving our global community since 2008.

The small place was a little dim with chairs still stacked on top of tables. The owners had such a look of shock that we were there. We explained that we love food and wanted to try them out. After a lot of awkwardness and very little English, we got some food. It looks like the woman cooks in the back and the man helps at the front. Their menu only has one item on it and depending on how many people, the dish can be made bigger to serve more people. However, after talking to the guy, he became more relaxed and very passionately told us about his food and their country. They're from Af Barwaaqo, Somalia and they have diverse food just like the U.S. He explained that their restaurant is mainly only known to the Somalian community and the patrons know what they want to order so they don't need a menu. He said they eat/make everything from injera bread to fufu. In the early mornings, they eat chapati. Looks like we missed out on that. Although, there is not a lot of English, I feel food unites us all, if we're open. We didn't get to talk to the woman but I feel like they both have so much to offer and next time when I have more time, I would love to just sit and chat. To explore their journey to the U.S and what they love about their food. Besides two other Somalian males there, finishing up their breakfast, we were the only other patrons. We got goat soup, rice and beef. The yellow bottle contains their hot sauce and it's so delicious. This dish was so good. Next time, I will not ask for their menu. I will ask him to just bring me whatever they want to cook. He was very welcoming and even ask that I post his restaurant to share with others. I love these mom and pop shops. To me, it's the American dream. To share your passion with others and be your own boss. In this country, we need more love and understanding, especially right now.

Had I not gotten the shift assignment,…read morethis restaurant would have forever been unknown to me even though the long stretch of Havana Street has so many unique restaurants on both side and yet, past the 6th Ave where the restaurant is located had still been an unknown territory for me. I was definitely overdue for a good Ethiopian food so when I found it, I got excited. I intentionally left the house early enough so I could stop here and get me some food before my shift. And it all worked out well. Yesterday's takeout experience was met with so much goodness. I... -Was warmly greeted upon entering the restaurant by two women. -Was the only customer during the non-rush hour time between lunch and dinner. -Was able to place my order immediately as I had the full attention from one of the ladies upfront. -Waited good 15+ minutes and yet, this meant that the kitchen carefully prepared my food. -Received thorough explanation from the same lady (who took my order) as she opened each container to explain what I got. Service was top-notch here. Once I got to my car, I opened the two containers to take a close took at them. I also wanted to take some photos of my beautiful food. What I got were.... -Vegetarian Combo ($19.99) that comes with red lentil stew, split pea mild stew, powdered chickpea stew, carrots and cabbage with potato, collard greens, beetroot and salad. This whole dish was covered with extra layers of injera fermented bread that are/were gluten free. The whole container was so heavy. This was easily way more than what I paid for. And it was probably the best Ethiopian vegetarian plate with all sorts of delightfulness in this massive dish. -Two pieces of Veggie Sambusas (lentil based); this came with a mini salad. Deep-fried sambusas were nice and beautifully brown. And they were so crispy. The heat from the cooking was still felt when I ate them about 10 minutes later. Let's not forget to mention. The restaurant looks very unassuming on the outside. Although the front of it had a colorful green and red signage with restaurant name on it, once inside, it looks small and yet you will be surprised how spacious inside is. Although it's not fancy or modern in any way, it's clean with simpleness. And here and there, there are Ethiopian art decors on the walls which will (I'm pretty sure) capture your attention. You should take the time to look at them as they are quite beautiful. Not to mention, ample seatings are seen in the dining area; the bar is quite large as well. And they do serve alcohol. This is definitely and by far the best Ethiopian restaurant in the Denver metro area (in my opinion). The welcoming host (is this a woman owned business??) that will truly appreciate your business but most of all, the quality and hearty food that will entertain your palates..all sorts of goodness will mesmerize you for sure. This place will justify the miles you will drive to get to it even if you live a bit far from it. Give it a try!

When we get there at 5:45, we notice that the food is packed up in a medium (9"x13") sized aluminum pan with lid. In the past we'd gotten our meals in two styrofoam take out boxes with plenty of food so I was initially excited to see the new packaging because I believed the quantity would be the same or more. We get home 5 mins later and were sorely disappointed by our order. There were plenty of lentils but the orange ones were undercooked and lacked flavor. There were only about two bites of the collard greens/Gomen wat. And usually Mama África supplies more potatoes spears with their carrot and cabbage side, this time, we also only got two bites of the cabbage, no potatoes. Not to mention, the green beans were definitely canned and had no additional flavor to them. We asked for a side of chickpea soup/shiro wat and were disappointed to find that it too lacked flavor and was mostly oil. The worst part in addition to all the above was that the food was cold and the injera tasted stale and lacked its usual sourness. To add insult to injury, the meal was nearly 70 dollars in total for something that barely fed one person. This was the first time I ever wanted to ask for a refund for our food because we barely received one portion of the veggie combo, not the two we paid for. I hate to leave a one star review for a small business but the quality and quantity of food went down drastically.
