Hello! My boyfriend and I were looking for a restaurant and as usual the Yelp community has helped us. We hadn't booked so the waiter told us to come back 40 minutes later. Instead, we had a drink in the Lounge part of the restaurant. So, after the waiting time: I took a vegetarian couscous, my boyfriend took the "portugal no prato" (rice with fish, shrimp and coriander) It was sooo good to me and to my boyfriend. Plus, he took a glass of wine again. About desserts, we both chose the "petit decadente" (chocolate fondant sided with white chocolate & hazelnut cream). It was that good that he took a second dessert (the same). So, for 3 glass of wine, two dishes and THREE desserts that cost us 41.10€ wich is reasonable according to me. Sorry for the bad english but I don't write in English in order to be understood by a lot of people. read more

We were staying in the Bairro Alto neighborhood and walked past one night because this place was packed with people who looked like they were having a great time. Don't be fooled by the fact that the Decadente is part-hostel -- this resturant/bar is AMAZING! Reservations pretty much required for dinner...unless you want to try your luck by showing up at 7:30pm and waiting to see if reservations didn't show up. The menu looked fresh and inventive - I had the rice with fish and shrimp, which was worthy of being remembered as my last meal in Portugal. Our neighbors also enjoyed their fish and pasta (side note: one of the great things about this place is the variety of people that you'll meet!). Do not - I repeat, DO NOT - leave this place without getting a drink or two! Ask the waitstaff what they think is best -- they're not afraid to give a strong opinion once you describe what you're looking for. The Hectorade was one of the best drinks I'd had in a very long time. For added awesomeness, they often have live music on weekend evenings, making it difficult to tear yourself away to explore more of what Lisbon has to offer. (Side note: had I visited with my boyfriend, I imagine it would have been pretty darn romantic to get tipsy here and cross the street to the lookout point. If that's not your thing, about 50 other bars are right around the corner!) read more

So... We were here twice. We ate here 0 times. How? Well let me tell you, on Sundays the only serve brunch the whole day, and when we came back on Monday at around 4 P.M. they told us that we cant order any food and that was is. Just after I asked when is it even posaible to eat here, they told me that lunch is served until 3 P.M. And dinner starts at 8 P.M. So, even though I'm sure that the food is excelent, I won't be comming back to check. The problem is that they could have told us about the serving hours the first day we came, or even the second, without me asking. Or they could post that info somewhere. read more

located inside a hip hostel in the hipster neighborhood of bairro alto, i had high expectations for the decadente which were not met. it was our fault for not making a reservation, but i was more than happy to wait in the bar adjacent to the restaurant, sipping a delicious cocktail, marveling at the charming decor with interesting compilation of books. finally after an hour (9pm) we checked in, but the host wouldn't let us sit even though a couple of tables opened up. another 30 minutes passed, and more tables became available, but we were not allowed to take one. a few more minutes later, the host finally gathered the waiting groups and led us to tables which just was the ODDEST thing ever! why didn't he just let whoever came first sit first when a table became available? why make people wait longer than necessary when the restaurant is being emptied out? near 2 hour wait sure made us hungry, so we we ordered immediately upon seating. the prawns in orange colored sauce was good as an appetizer to share, and my spicy black linguine dish was also tasty (it had be since the sauce used was the same as the appetizer. i wished the waitress had mentioned that so we wouldn't have duplicated our order). the hubby's cod filet dish came out cold which he knew it would be since he saw it sitting at the counter for a while. we mentioned this to the waitress, and she took it back and brought a new one. the fish was fresh and cooked well, but bland and tasteless. overall, i was not super impressed with the food and service. we might've had better experience had we made a reservation, and if the host was more efficient in managing the wait time. nonetheless, the this place is super cute, and the quality of food and drinks far exceeds what u.s. offers for the same price. p.s. - smoking is allowed in the courtyard, so avoid tables in that area if you cannot tolerate cigarettes. read more

Incredible restaurant and bar. One of the best, if not the best, meal we had on our recent trip to Portugal and Spain. A very cool and modern space with top notch service and bartenders. Awesome cocktails and a great wine list at great prices, as you'd expect in Lisbon. Tons of great food on the menu, mixing modern twists with traditional Portuguese dishes, and done so perfectly. All of this is a very high end, yet casual and relaxed dining experience, at a very, very reasonable price. We had a few cocktails, a starter, a bottle of wine, and two entrees for I think under 80 euros. Just absurdly cheap given the quality of the restaurant and the food. Easily the same meal would have been twice as much in most larger cities back in the States. Such a great restaurant. We loved it. read more

Really enjoyed the green cocktail, the shrimp, and the friendly service. Everything else was fine but not amazing. Cool space but definitely more casual outside. I would probably go again for a cocktail and snack but not waste a dinner here. read more

We enjoyed cocktails and dinner here not long ago. Friendly service! The cocktails were creative and refreshing after a day of sightseeing in the heat. Grilled seabass was delicious, as was the chocolate fondant. They have a lovely back patio. Sit out there if you can! read more

Gorgeous, charming meal. The menu feels like modern takes on traditional dishes but without being too precious or pretentious. We made a reservation for our table of three at the front desk the afternoon of. At the time we were told the only open table was in the back garden which is covered and heated - cool! We were sat near the open kitchen with a view of the chefs at work - very cool! It was tough to narrow down our selections from so many excellent options but we ultimately enjoyed the pirri-pirri garlic prawns (ordered extra bread to get every last drop of the sauce), grilled octopus (some of the best of the trip), baccalhau (good but not stand-out), duck breast (yum), and pork steak (very tasty). And a round of cherry liqueurs to cap things off. The bill, including meal wines and beers came to about 90 euro. Great value for such a stellar meal. read more

Came here last night for dinner with a group of coworkers and had a great time. We had the sparkling wine sangria and it was amazingly delicious! The service was fabulous. Everyone was very genuine and friendly. I think they enjoyed waiting on us as well. They were very helpful with all the questions we had about the menu and most importantly the food was amazing! Not one complaint from the entire group. I would definitely recommend. read more

The only good thing about my experience was the delicious glass of wine. I was told to sit on the patio because they were getting the restaurant ready for dinner reservations. That was understandable and sitting on the patio was my plan anyway. However, once I received my glass of wine and tapas, I was told I had to leave the table in 20 minutes. For me, that's not even enough time to drink a glass of water or use a napkin (which I never received after asking). I wouldn't have sat down or I would have made a reservation for another day if I knew this was the case. Even though I planned on taking my time because I was a paying customer, I was being watched by the staff and felt extremely awkward and unwelcome. I rushed through my meal and went to the park across the street to write this review. read more

Had a wonderful dining experience at this beautifully decorated restaurant. Making reservations in advance is highly recommended. People are waiting in lines at 10 a.m. Log on to their website and secure a table via their online booking system. They happily veganized a few dishes for us, everything we had was absolutely delicious. Bottom line - good for vegans, great ambiance, beautiful decor, service was a bit slow that evening, but they were kind enough to apologize, and since everybody was so nice, it didn't really make a difference. Would definitely return. read more

What a complete disappointment. The service was beyond slow, the servers were rude, we were told the patio was heated but it wasn't and our food was cold. The bathroom had a broken toilett paper dispenser and the hand dryer was also broken. We came here to celebrate New Year's day and based on all.the positive reviews, were excited to try it out. But truly it's an overpriced tourist trap. Speaking as someone married to a Portuguese local and have visited the country multiple times, this place looks cool but doesn't hold up at all. Will never be back. Too many other amazing places in town to waste it here. read more

This is a funky place but the food is pretty good nonetheless. We had a large group and ate in a rather nice private room.

Nice wine but the staff rushed us which dampened the mood a bit. The food was OK - my black linguini with prawns had very cold whole cherry tomatoes on the top - they needed warming even if only slightly. Strange. read more

Poor service, overpriced food, ridiculous small quantity. Nice space and decor and the food is good but one easily pays 30euros and then has to go to dinner. Won't go back read more

Came without a reservation, were told we might have to wait an hour but got a table for 2 within 15 minutes. The service was incredible all throughout -- from I seeding drinks before we got seated to asking for a side of vegetables (not on the menu) and being delivered a delicious plate of sautéed veggies, we were very happy and grateful. The sea bass was fresh and light, and my friend loved her rice dish ("Lisbon on a plate"), which was exactly what she was hoping for. Very glad we came and would absolutely come again. read more

This was a bit of a disappointment. It came highly recommended but food was inconsistent. The salad was the most boring and tasteless one I may have ever been served. It is somewhat shocking to me that any restaurant can't make a really good salad. My son had a shrimp appetizer that was very good. I had fish of the day that was slightly fishy and, again, so what bland. Mashed potato side also needed a bit more of a kick. The atmosphere/decor is very good although it is very loud. Our waitress was efficient but not particularly friendly. Overall just ok. I don't think I will be back or can strongly recommend it. read more

Amazing place. You should make a reservation before visiting. All steaks are good. Try desserts: cake with raspberry & porto sorbet and chocolate browny with ice cream are delicious. Waiters were really friendly! read more

We arrived at Decedante at 7:30 PM without a reservation and were seated without a wait. Although, they were all booked up with reservations for outside seating on the back patio. The restaurant had really nice decor, and a large bar area, if you do have a wait. Food: delicious. My sister ordered the dish they referred to as "Portugal on a plate", and it was her favorite meal of the week. The sea bass was delicious as well. Menu was definitely heavy on seafood selections. Highly recommend! read more

This place is pretty great. They have a good lunch menu that's not to complex and the fact that you can have a three course lunch for only €10 that's perfect for the traveler who is on a budget. Customer service is great. When it's crowded, be patient, these guys are doing their best for a small staff. The food is really good too. They also have a pretty good and informative drink selection. All in all pretty good place to grab a bite to eat. read more

Yum!! The best part was 90% of the menu was or could be made gluten free. I had Portugal in a pot & it was a delicious seafood hot pot! Put this on your list if you need to eat gluten free for sure!! read more

So good ! And friendly.

Where to begin? I chanced upon The Decadente on account of having to meet some friends at the nearbyMiradouro de São Pedro de Alcantara. Pedro, our server, ushered us into an even sweeter little alcove and proceeded to direct our wine choices with great flair. We had the wonderfully seasoned Pica Pau as an appetizer followed by Portugal in a Pot and the duck. The second time around (after having already directed other friends here), a whole group of us scored a second reservation and pretty much ate everything on the menu. I had the delectable seafood linguine. A+ The third time we had to beg our way into a prime-time reservation but the delightfully wicked and gracious host, Hugo Olivera obliged. Rita stopped by to say hello and check in as well. I love this place. I was told that you simply cannot get into Decadente, but persist and you will be rewarded by all round excellence. Excellent drinks, great appetizers (the salmon ceviche is a winner), nice but slow service. Get there early or it fills up, but you can always eat at communal tables. read more

My husband and I came for dinner without a reservation at about 8:30pm on a Thursday night in June. We got a lovely table inside but at an open window. It's really very cute and romantic inside this restaurant (and the hotel's first floor in general) and the service was very considerate. We ordered the pica pau (sauteed beef cubes with garlic) to start, and it came with bread. That was delicious. Then came the pork cheeks (with sweet potato slices and fresh watercress) and sea bass (with pureed celeriac and pickled cabbage). These were amazing! I happen to like fish that taste fishy, and the sea bass was salty and briny enough for me and well balanced by the vegetables. The pork cheeks were unbelievably tender. Like, I could not believe it. We had the pear cake with raspberry sorbet sprinkled with almond cookie crumble to finish the meal, and it was excellent. A nice warm, moist cake with a tart sorbet and the crunchy texture of the crumble was the perfect end to a beautiful and very enjoyable meal. read more

Excellent restaurant and the view was outstanding. On a whim we were looking for a drink after a hike up the tram hill to the Bairro Alto district. The place looked funky - it's part hotel/hostel part restaurant and rooftop bar. Staff was great! My small group left for other part of the city but I spent 2 hours on the roof and stayed for dinner. I didn't have a reservation, normally a must, but the staff found me a spot and I had a great dinner - swordfish cooked to perfection. I'll be back! Often. read more

My friends and I were staying nearby a few weeks ago and were looking for a local rooftop restaurant to have a few drinks and snacks one night. We didn't have a reservation, but the hostess was very nice and was able to accommodate us. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded and we were seated in the back near another small group and a large party. Three different waiters and waitresses came by and happily served everyone near us for the next 25 minutes. We waited patiently for the next 20 minutes, during which at no point did any of the several waiters/waitresses made any eye contact with us. They were happy to oblige the table right next to us 5 times during this time. After 20 minutes, we took it upon ourselves to get their attention and still they ignored us. 5 minutes later, we were fed up. We walked out. read more

Amazing food! Really cool restaurant. Everyone was super nice. We got the spicy shrimp and the mustard need strip appetizers that had us scraping the plates with bread. We both got the Portugal on a plate seafood dish that was well seasoned and very good! Then we both got the chocolate lava cake. My only complaint is it wasn't bigger so I could eat more. Great for date night or any special occasion! read more

Great atmosphere. The food was good, not great. The octopus starter was very good, the mains were only OK, and the drinks very nice.

Found this place as a "top ten restaurants in Lisbon" on the guardian. Decided to give it a go, the Iberia pork belly was super delicious and so was the chocolate lava cake. The service was acceptable also, with the waiters all able to converse in good English. Totally enjoyed my experience here. read more

It was excellent! Paid 52€ for several drinks, a starter, meals with an excellent quality and a dessert for two! It was SO great, this place is special. Had Carlos as a waiter, he was so nice and attentive. Would come back...! read more
