Good sized and eclectic, but the winners were the staff and cocktails! Popped in for one round (ended up staying for two lol) before seeing the bats so it wasn't packed but wasn't dead. The bartenders were awesome and you could just tell they vibe behind the bar and work well together. First round I grabbed from there. Then we found out even with us standing that there was a waitress so willing to help us from the standing spot too. Attentive and checked on us even though we were just sipping cocktails.

This place is awesome! I recommend a reservation but if you don't have one they have a lot of space at the middle bar. It feels like a nice Irish pub, complete with the Guiness! Their cocktails were on the better side that I have had on 6th and the food was some of the best I have had as well. It was so good, we went twice in a single weekend trip! I definitely recommend the Sausage Roll, it was a standout and I still think about it fondly sometimes when i'm alone. The burgers are great too! Service is quick and everyone there was super nice, check this place out!

Went here on a Sunday and was pretty chill vibe. Food was great and service was amazing! Definitely will be back

Fine and Dandy

Stopped here for cocktail while in Austin for the Springsteen concert! Love the cool decor reminiscent of any pub back home in Britain, with really nice artwork! Also one of the nicest places on 6th! Service was fast and friendly and enjoyed a great gin cocktail called Fine and Dandy! Coupled with a great playlist - definitely worth a visit

Good, but a far cry from the New York original. This Dead Rabbit is more akin to a well off dive bar which caters to older 20 somethings that enjoy Irish whiskey. It's loud, it's grungy, it's fun if you're in a group and especially if you're buzzed. The cocktails are obviously good but almost too good given the environment because the ambiance says fast fun while the drinks say speakeasy. I'd return if they rotate new cocktails but I'm not a big enough fan of the spirits they specialize in to commit to the price again for a while.

It's not Manhattan, but it's just as fun! Wonderful vibe great food and drinks . Definitely a bar I'd come back to in Austin.... Our waiter did say during the holiday season they do dress up the bar. I'll need to come back for that

Surprisingly really good food, we initially stopped here to grab a drink and maybe some appetizers. I was hungrier than expected once we made it so I opted for one of their burgers and it was great. Most pubs you don't really expect much from their main entrees but the Dead Rabbit knocked it out of the park. Our server was great and checked in on us frequently. During our visit I succeed in their "Split the G" Guinness challenge and got a complementary beer. Another one of the few good spots for food on 6th street.

A good and slightly more upscale spot in downtown on 6th St. It is an Irish bar with some non-standard options. I was not very hungry (unlike my boyfriend lol) and ordered a veggie plate which turned out to be huge! It was actually great: plenty of fresh veggies, some olives, nuts, and 2 types of dipping sauce. Petition to rename it "Girl Dinner" :D The service was really friendly and attentive, we enjoyed our time at the bar top!

This was a nice spot especially compared to all the other things on dirty 6th. For some reason the floors here are filled with sand. Like they are ready for some sort of disaster. Being downtown means prices will be a bit higher but not bank breaking big. The corn beef sandwich was one of the better corn beefs I've had. Maybe it's because they actually used some fatty brisket topped with some kind of well dressed coleslaw. I was quite surprised.

Very busy on Saturday afternoon. Adorable place with photos from Ireland. Table service was organized and friendly. I can't wait to try the fish and chips next time.

Sunday Roast ($42) - us 4 girls could not finish this!

This place knocked my (christmas) socks off! We had a girls night here for the Jingle Jangle pop up - it was so festive and the drinks (all in the $20 range) were perfect for the holidays! There was a wait for the table but we were able to grab some seats at the bar while we waited. The food was so unexpectedly amazing. Us four girls split two entrees and finished only about 40% of everything - that is how generous the portions are. The fish & chips ($26) are flaky, crispy battered and amazing. Good, hearty chips too. The Sunday Prime Rib Roast ($42) - wow, just everything on that plate is *chef's kiss* and authentic. Especially the mashed potatoes, gravy, and creamy cauliflower. The popover is huge. The staff and cheery. 100% recommend and would come back for the other menu items.

Butternut squash soup (add soda bread as an extra order)
Wendy B.

I got here and immediately I got the Christmas vibe, the decor makes it feel warmer and cozy. I had a couple of seasonal drinks: the cookie and cream, and the gingerbread man one. The cookies and cream is frozen, didn't say that in the description; and the gingerbread man didn't have the man in it haha, they said they sold out of the little decoration. The food here was outstanding! The scotch egg was superb, crispy and savory. The butternut squash soup was delicious but a little lukewarm, I wish it would be hotter. I added a soda bread for texture and was delicious! The main dis is the fish and chips, the best I've had ever, for real. The batter is very crispy and the dis inside was thick and juicy. I must highlight the sinks in the bathroom, they have water coming from the middle and when you move your hands to the side, it blows air for drying. Very cool!

jingle jangle holiday pop-up
Megan Y.

I was looking forward to trying one of the many holiday pop-ups in town, and glad I chose Jingle Jangle @ the Dead Rabbit. I got there around 6:20pm and there wasn't a line so I must have caught a good break in between waves. Found a spot at one of the middle counters near the back. Everyone around was nice seeing that I was a solo diner. My server Jay eventually found me and placed my order. I got one cocktail and one N/A. Both were sweet and yummy - wish there was more color variety though. I finished with one more cocktail that was slightly stronger but still pleasing. Right after my first round came, I accidentally spilled the N/A drink. The folks around me probably hated me but helped to clean it up. I should have helped grab napkins too, but sometimes you're stuck in shock. Jay kindly gave me a free refill on it as well, despite the ratioing. When I left the line was very long. Basically we had about 15-20 mins where it was calm.

The live music was way too loud, the service and food were mediocre, and there was a mysterious "wellness" fee tacked onto our check.

Great late night food. The veggie burger hit the spot after a night of drinking on 6th st. Nothing too fancy but did the job

Unfortunately, that excitement disappeared pretty quickly. We went to the back bar to order, and my boyfriend mistakenly asked for an "English Breakfast" instead of an Irish Breakfast. The bartender immediately corrected him, which was completely fine. What wasn't fine was her continuing to make rude comments about how he was looking to get kicked out of the pub, especially after he mentioned Northern Ireland being English. Look, I understand having pride in your heritage and being passionate about history, but there's a difference between educating someone and being flat-out rude. And last I checked, we came in to order breakfast, not get a lecture or be threatened with getting kicked out over a conversation. What a bizarre way to welcome two first-time customers. A simple correction would have been enough, but apparently making customers feel uncomfortable was more important than providing decent service. Such a cute place, but the attitude behind the bar? Not cute at all. Maybe work on the hospitality as much as the Irish pride.

Food | 4/5 I ordered the chili cheese dog, and it was surprisingly REALLY good! I'm honestly not much of a hot dog person, but I was hungry and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did! The hot dog itself tasted like it could have been locally sourced or at least a higher-quality sausage than what you'd typically expect. Whatever they're using, it works! I genuinely enjoyed it. Drinks | 2/5 The drinks were disappointing. I had a margarita that tasted cheap and gave me a headache afterward. Nothing particularly impressive, and definitely not somewhere I'd return for cocktails. Service | 5/5 Our server was such a sweetheart! Very friendly, helpful, and genuinely pleasant. I almost ordered their soft-serve margarita, but she was honest enough to tell me that customers frequently send it back because they don't enjoy it. She mentioned they're still working on perfecting it and actually advised me against ordering it for now. I REALLY appreciated that honesty! She could have easily let me order it, but instead, she looked out for my experience. That kind of transparency goes a long way with me. Overall Experience | 3/5

Ticked away in a little complex without 79 visibility along with a couple of other places that don't seem to get much traffic either. Finally made our first visit so we could try "the best fish & chips" in the Austin area. I was surprised how big it was, they have a patio, a bar area and lots of tables I was shocked as from the outside it looks tiny. Service was fantastic which was shocking with them closing soon. The service was enough to want me to go back hopefully for us in this area they end up somewhere close by as I know how hard it is to find good workers. Pretzels were good! Onion rings were our favorite! Their version of the Philly was just okay, was very plain with not much flavor hubby didn't even finish half. But the star of the show was the fish and chips. My son was over the moon! Couldn't even finish half of it and he wanted to haha. Sad to see they will be closing their doors but hopefully the owner has something else up his sleeve as they were onto something with this place.

Right when you walk in, you're hit with the gross atmosphere around the front restrooms. A specific group monopolizes the tables every night for illegal activity, and management/ownership completely ignores it, creating an uncomfortable and unsafe environment. I wish they had mushy peas with the fish and chips, and I would have ordered that. The only thing I didn't like was having to order food and drinks at the bar even if you're sitting at a table. I can see that kind of system working on a weekend when the place is crowded, but there wasn't much of a crowd when I was there, and I'm handicapped, so walking back and forth was a bit of an issue.
