Went here alone on a Monday evening. Fairly quiet place. Locals seem very friendly and talkative. Beer and service was good. Had chicken tenders in spicy Sriracha sauce. I wasn't too happy with them as some of the thinner ones were fried to a hard crisp. And even though I suppose I should have guessed from the name they were only sparingly tossed in Sriracha sauce. I was hoping they had made their own version based on Sriracha but I think it was just the standard Sriracha sauce which was also available at the table. So I added some myself but again I really hoped they had made a better version based on the sauce and tossed the tenders properly so they were coated all over. read more

If you're a student and looking for a chill bar to grab a drink at that's NOT the Tam, come here. It's somewhat of a "classy" dive bar. The electronic "juke box" keeps the vibe interesting, as you never really know what to expect when you walk in. Staff here primarily circulate around the bar so if you're sitting in a booth and you're looking to do some grubbin', go up to the bar and ask for a menu, then order with a bartender. I ordered their Swiss burger which comes with mushrooms, raw red onions, BBQ sauce and onion strings. I have to say, I was quite impressed with the quality of the final product. The beef patty was thick and prepared medium rare. Excellent. You can't go wrong when you pair it with a side of tater tots. I also tried their dip sandwich, which I believe was stuffed with potroast-style beef. Also very juicy. Washed it down with a smooth Sam Adams Ocktoberfest (~$5). My only gripe was that I was charged $8 for a bottled Left Hand's Milk Stout. I typically don't mind, if the price was already set, but I noticed the bartender ask another employee for the price. The employee mouthed "Eight?" as she shrugged with uncertainty, which leads me to believe they just made up an arbitrary price to charge me. I mean, going from $5 to $8 is just a bit staggering. Unless Left Hand's is a premium beer for whatever reason and I'm just ignorant, I think I was overcharged. That's not going to stop me from coming back though. I love the energy and the food here so I will certainly be back. I'll just avoid the milk stout from now on. read more

After an overhaul a few years back this place is your best bet for after work drinks downtown that won't break the bank. This is a basic bar, nothing fancy, but done well. Standard fried bar fare with a nice bottle/can beer selection. The latest time we visited my friends and I got nachos, buffalo wings, and mozzarella sticks along with a round of Delirium Tremens before switching to buckets of Coors light. The vibe starts out after work with office workers around (6:00) before moving to locals eating a cheap dinner (7:00) followed by a younger crowd playing board games and starting their night out (8:00). Overall a nice local hangout especially since most of these down market bars are getting replaced with higher end locations. read more

Weggie's is back and shinier than ever!!! Even with the name change, new owners, a complete interior renovation, the place is still Weggie's at heart. You can still get a $2.75 bottle of beer, the same crowd is still there, the booths are updated but still as old school as always, and the naked lady photohunt is soon to be put back in its place. The Corner Pub (gosh, I am so not going to ever call it that again, it will always be Weggie's to me) is a dive bar with class now. The pool table has gone in lieu of high top tables. The old cash register is still there, but they are now, begrudgingly, accepting credit cards. The interior has been amped up with granite tiles throughout; a slammin' concrete bar; clean, bigger, bathrooms; a new internet-based jukebox with fancy speakers; a flat screen TV; and a working kitchen that will soon serve food. The pour is still stiff, the bottles are still cheap, and the crowd is still rough around the edges. Ahhh...so glad you are open again and just like I remember, but a little classier. One thing that Boston has lost in the last decade of gentrification, especially around Chinatown, is a healthy number of good, seedy dive bars. Nowadays, you'd be hard pressed to count five dive bars anywhere near the financial district or Boston proper. (Uh, let's see... the Tam, KC's, um... Punter's... no, those two are in Back Bay, er... see what I mean?) The Corner Pub, (whose real name still is Weggies, ask anyone) serves beer in bottles for short money and pub food from the kitchen (which Weggie's couldn't do after that Board of Health incident...) Specials abound on Mondays and Tuesdays, check it out. It's also close to District (the nightclub around the corner) and is a great place to pregame before you start buying $12 martinis. The townie feel is still there in full effect, the barman may give you the cold shoulder if you don't look Boston born & bred, but just hang in there and get your round of whatever from the five or six bottled beers they offer. I'm sure at $3 (or less) a beer you'll find some way to deal with it. I sure did. read more

My favorite hidden gem in Boston. The drinks are a good price, staff is super friendly, and the wings are killer. They have a bunch of board games and stuff which is good if you're with a group for more of a lowkey but fun night. Highly recommend and the bartender Kenny is the best!! read more

I stopped in waiting for a transfer at South Station. I grew up in New England, but live in DC. This place immediately reminded me that I was "home". Staff that interacts with you, even if you're not a regular (as I wasn't), but also does seems to know the regulars and treat them right. The "world famous" egg rolls are delicious bar food and the beer selection is varied enough for any clientele. I'm glad I stumble upon it looking for a spot to wait. I'll be back next time. This was the perfect place for us last night. It's a quiet bar great for catching up with friends. The drink prices are cheap compared to other bars in the area. The bartenders were absolutely delightful. We asked for a deck of cards and he searched high and low until he found one. The "$3 Brown Bag" mystery shots weren't the best idea but that's on me. At one point I even had them charging my phone behind the bar, which they were more than happy to do. I will be coming back here for sure the next time I'm in Boston && every time after. read more

Come here all the time and haven't really found a reason not to. The drinks are simple and cheap, it's not a cocktail bar. The location is great as you can just grab food in Chinatown right after if you're so inclined. Lately it's been crowded by the 9-5 crowd after work which is getting a little annoying as its sometimes really packed. I can't tell you how many times I've randomly strolled past The Corner Pub longingly, wanting to find out what the deal is with the friendly yet forlorn facade. Finally, I had my chance and it measured up to my completely made-up expectations. First, its in a somewhat random location, right on the edge of Chinatown between South Station. Second, the bar is excessively low-key and has a modest draft selection. Third, the owner uses what seem to be fancy looks-like-wood Ikea filing cabinets to store away the empty bottles. He clearly has his documents in order. My only two complaints about the joint are that the bar has almost no underside clearance for my legs so I cannot adequately belly up (which is critical to my imbibing success), and the lighting is a bit excessive. STOP LOOKING AT MY FLAWS. read more

Absolutely love this bar! My favorite bar in Boston without a doubt. My coworker discovered this hidden gem and we've made this our Friday lunch destination now whenever possible! Burgers are phenomenal as well as the chicken Cesar wraps!! Onion rings are very good as well!! A nice small clean bar great atmosphere attentive staff. The Corner Pub* got its start as Weggies, a celebrated dive that has been gone for some time, so get over it and STOP LIVING IN THE PAST. Weggies gives you what you need in a dive bar: cheap beer, questionable lighting, surly bartenders and odd seating arrangements. Surprisingly, their food is very good, burgers and steaks and chickend SANGWICHES and the like. They've got some TVs I think, and their semi-circular booths look sumptuous and roomy, but are really cramped and weird. This place exceeded my expectations - brother and I needed a place to chill before our Airbnb was ready and happened upon The Corner Pub in Boston's China Town. Greeted by bartender Angelica who lived up to her name - super sweet and engaging. Angelica suggested an IPA which turned out to be excellent. Now for the unexpected.....the food!!! A unique menu that appears to change, featured a variety of egg roles stuffed with ingredients you'd never guess would work, like steak and cheese, and chicken pot pie to name a few. We opted for the BBQ Chicken, and Pot Pie. AMAZING!! Also amazing was Angelica and other patrons who gave us tons of ideas for our short stay Boston. I gotta get back to this place and try other things on the menu - the jalapeño chicken wings are on my short list. Keep up the good work Corner Pub! read more

From the outside it still appears a bit seedy with the dark barred-windows. We had to persuade a friend that it would be a-okay. Turns out that it's had a makeover. Even the regulars looked cleaner. Went here after an office holiday party. What can I say, already liquored up, only to come here to get more liquored up? Win. The lone bartender, bless her heart, poured shot after shot with no complaints for a rousing game of quarters at a corner table. No doubt she was entertained. She did a great job keeping a group of 30+ people happy all by her lonesome. The drinks were pretty well poured, no complaints. Corner Bar(Wedgies) is a quiet bar located in a quiet part of town(Leather District). As soon as you walk in the door, you can tell that this is a low-key place, filled with regulars. It's out of the way enough that you have to know where it is in order to stumble across it, making you feel like you belong and aren't just some tourist stumbling in off the street. Don't expect a loud, packed venue with girls in skinny dresses grinding up on each other. This is the type of place you come to have a shot and a beer and catch up with an old friend. Drinks are moderately priced(I mean, who doesn't love being able to order a bucket of beer?). I have not tried the food, but I've heard good things. My name is Miguel and I was a regular at Weggies dating back in 94' to 99'. I just learned of Weggie's closing and could not help but feel sad. I have a lot of good memories and I made a lot of good friends. I was a regular since I use to work accross the street for a company called Teradyne, but has also closed since I left Boston. The new place looks great but miss the oroginal Weggie's. Anyway, maybe someday I will visit the Corner Pub to see for myself what it looks now. I would have never thought of venturing into this place if it wasn't my co-worker who introduced me to this pub for lunch. You walk in and immediately think, wait am I at the right spot? Yes...yes you are. The lunch here is absolutely a home run each time. It's inexpensive and delicious and the owner is so nice and funny with her patrons. It's as if you literally walked into her home and sat down on her couch while she took your orders. Here is what you should eat: Pub Dip, Turkey Club, Just about any burger, Franks and Beans and more. Everything is a hit and get this...their turkey and roast beef is made in-house, and boy does that make all the difference in the world!! Corner Pub gets 5 stars based on overall "feel" and menu differentiation. This place is truly has a "neighborhood bar" feel. The Asian twist can be experienced in the specialty egg rolls which mix traditional fare into an egg roll. I was a HUGE Weggie's fan. Still am. I am truly devastated about the redo. I loved the red booths, crazy little dance floor, totally 70's decor. I loved that you had to walk by an immense amount of beer cases to use the bathroom. And it was a local, low key, regular type of crowd. Fast forward to today...filled with State St, Fidelity types that think its cool to be in a "renovated" dive. GRRR! Just leave already. You take my tables and give me dirty looks when we save some seats our friends that have been going here for years. You just decided to stop by because its all clean and sparkly now. When it was Weggies you would have never stopped in..way too scared. I bet you still will never go here after the sun goes down. Anyway, I digress. I liked it before, you could go down the street and bring in your own food. They have food now and its pretty good. Lots of bar food. Not a lot of Chinese and for a Chinese bar in Chinatown, you'd think there would be a bit of diversity on the menu. Stay away from the "flatbread" pizza, it tastes like Elio's. They have raised their prices a bit too. Bud lite bottles are now like 2.50, they used to be like 2.00. But I'm not complaining. But it is my regular bar. This is a great place for an out of towner to have a drink and great pub fare. With a Touch Tunes jukebox that can be loaded from an app on your phone it felt like we were a part of the local crowd without being from here. This is the bar I always wished was in my neighborhood! Great beer and awesome bartender. A couple taps were kicked (it was a stupid hour on a sunday, so it really didn't interfere with anything) but there was plenty of good stuff on tap and bottles. Had my family with me (the pub wasn't my original destination, i should add) which felt awkward at first, but we were made to feel right at home and other people came with kids later and everyone was greeted by name by the bartender, so apparently its family friendly during the daylight hours. read more
