Such a cute little brunch place! The wait for a table was around 25 minutes but it was totally worth it. The time goes by fast if you bring your friend or whoever and just chill nearby, they will call your name when your table is ready. I had high expectations of this place based on previous reviews. Some of my friends even said this is their favorite spot. The reviews don't lie. I had the famous avocado toast and I thought it was going to be like the boring toast I make at home. "Good vibes only." Another day, another decision on how I can gain some extra weight. Food and I are going to get married and I know she doesn't care about my body. She just likes me for me; who could ask for anything more from a lover? Today, I was interested in a place quite local to me, three blocks to be exact. An adventurous friend of mine took a picture of a pink neon sign with a white wall backdrop that read "good vibes only" in a restaurant. It reminded me of California for some reason. I asked her where it was, and she said that it was this restaurant called The Corner on the corner of Walnut Street and Grove Street. Now, I have a huge distaste for the word "vibes". I cannot stand that word, but I'll save that rant for another forum. Back to the food! As I walk into The Corner, I see the neon pink sign. I also see a packed crowd, creating extra heat on what was already a sweaty day. With that in mind, along with the ISO food safety restrictions for indoor settings, requesting a seat outside was only fitting. The seating outside is nice. Four picnic-like tables stack up against the brick foundation of the restaurant. The seats are long, wooden benches, smooth to avoid splinters. When handed the menu, I was already familiar with some of the choices, due to the research I had done the day before. I belittled the minimalist approach to the options given for the likes of breakfast and lunch, but I would soon see why that was a blessing rather than a mistake. I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich along with a 12-ounce juice called the Bounce Back. The Breakfast Sandwich comes with an over-easy egg, garlic aioli, and greens with pickled red onion, two buttermilk biscuits, and chicken apple sausage. The Bounce Back contains grapefruit, grapes, lemon, orange, and beets. Now, two things stood out to me in all of this: the over-easy eggs on the Breakfast Sandwich and the beets in my juice. I love my eggs scrambled maybe 98.9 percent of the time and I am not a fan of beets, although it has been forever since I last had a taste of them. The Corner turned me into a believer of both. The over-easy eggs bled into the food with ease. I barely noticed the difference in taste because the meal was marvelous. The pickled red onions had some strong kickback to them. The zesty flavor added character to the entire plate. The chicken apple sausage was thick, juicy and other words not safe for work. The juice demanded my attention after the first sip. The beet flavor was noticeable but didn't push the envelope, creating room for the other ingredients to flourish. I felt so health-conscious eating the whole thing. These weren't your typical heart-stopping buttermilk biscuits from Popeyes. Just as the meal vanished into my stomach, the server kindly asked us what we would like for dessert. I couldn't resist her suggestion of the 230 Cookie, a cookie that is made fresh every day at 2:30 p.m. It costs $2.30. Right as she went to get the cookie, a baby soiled himself right on his mother's shoulders while she was talking to her friend. They went inside to change the child, but as nasty as the scene was, all I kept thinking about was that cookie and the delicious lunch I just ate. Nothing, not even baby crap, was going to ruin that for me. The cookie came out a few minutes later and it was perfect. It carried the shape of a muffin, but you knew as soon as you held it in your hand that it was a soft, gooey piece of perfection. It put shame on the high fructose corn syrup cookies I ate in middle school. The Corner, we will meet again. read more

My kids love the corner for brunch. We usually go their for their pancakes, ham and cheese croissant, and coffee. Their speciality juices are fantastic and my kids love to drink the sunrise which has apples, carrots and oranges. The owner Jeff is very nice and the wait staff is top notch. Delicious! Presentation was lovely and food tasted fresh; also nothing to complain about the portions. Sat outside under the heat lamp which worked great in today's 35 degree weather (though the sun was also helpful). Outdoor dining is perfectly comfortable, just wish they had more tables out. Overall service and dining experience was pleasant. The only negative I have to say is that their indoor dining is NOT socially distanced. There seems to be fewer tables as one long unused one sits in the middle which may make them think they are maintaining the required maximum capacity. However, the tables are not socially distanced whatsoever and the restaurant itself is quite small. Staff is masked up but doesn't negate the exposure that is happening amongst all of the unmasked diners eating in such close proximity. Lots of people are also moving in and out. read more

This is a super cute brunch spot in Montclair. On the weekends, there's always a wait, but it's because of the good food, small space, and great service that deems this place popular. Once you put your name on the waitlist, they do offer getting a coffee/drink by the counter, but that area was also crowded, so we opted to wait outside instead. Right when we were seated, I noticed the attentive service immediately. They filled up our water glasses and asked if we wanted coffee. Since we were hungry, the four of us already know what we were going to order and share. We got the chips with onion dip appetizer, berry pancakes, the 3 toast sampler, a special with brisket and corn meal, and a crabmeat Benedict - a lot of food for four girls but we finished it all. I've had their pancakes before and they were still as fluffy and adorable as I remembered. Not too sweet or dry, with hints of fresh fruit. The crabmeat Benedict was delicious, and they used actual crabmeat! Overall the food was amazing, but I did want to highlight the wonderful service in this review. My friend dropped a poached egg on her jeans; she was quite sad because of the lost food and dirtied jeans, but our waiter saw and immediately came over with more napkins. He also cleaned up the egg off the table after she picked it up from her jeans so we had a cleaner table - and I thought this was very considerate. And then another waitress walked by, saw what happened, and said "I'll get some seltzer water to help clean up your jeans" and that's exactly what she did! Came here for Sunday brunch on Easter! The wait wasn't too long as I guess everyone was at service. We waited about 10 mins and was seated right away. The place is really small but very bright and cozy. I ordered the strawberry rosemary soda and my bf ordered the melon ball ginger soda. The drinks were light and very refreshing. We also ordered a pastry to share. Kouign-Amann, it's a buttery and sweet flaky pastry resembling a cross between a croissant and Mille fruille cookie. So good! It's our first time trying it and we loved every bite! I ordered the berry pancakes and my bf ordered the smoked brisket hash. The portions were huge. Pancakes were fluffy and delicious. Only thing is that it came with the syrup already on the pancake, I'd prefer to pour it on myself cause at the end the last pancake was soggy. However, the syrup was not overly sweet. It was just right. My bf brisket hash was a hearty meal! The brisket was on a corn bread base and had 2 poached eggs on top. The combination was amazing! The service here is wonderful. Our server kept coming by and refilling our waters even though the bottle was on our table. Great friendly neighborhood spot. Love the pastries! We thought about ordering a scone to go but were way too full so we passed on it. When our bill came the server gave us a surprise, he gave us a free scone to go! Initially I was interested by the high ratings and the avocado toast. Sooo glad I tried The Corner. Started off with a chai latte and the buttermilk biscuit with house berry preserves. Chai was okay, I wanna try the matcha next time. The biscuit was crispy on the outside and absolutely to die for. The preserves were delicious. My boyfriend got the Wild Bounty juice, it was very tasty and fresh. I ordered the avocado toast with poached eggs and I'm thoroughly satisfied with my decision. The avocado was well seasoned with salt, pepper, lemon and pepper flakes, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Even the toast itself was a slice of thick artisanal heaven. Despite being extremely full, I had to order the key lime merengue pie (fave) and the 2:30 cookie. Both were yummy, the crust was really the shining star of the pie... Pure cinnamon goodness. Our waiter answered all of my many questions about the menu and was very very nice. Best part was that he gave us a scone on the house before we left. My friend and I met here for brunch one weekend...Montclair is our half way point so we are always looking for a comfortable/good spot to sit and catch up with tasty healthy food options. The Corner is that place. The coffee was good and the fresh juices were simply delicious. We tried the Bee's Knees and Bells and Whistles. Both tasted so fresh and delicious. Next we shared the Prosciutto & Ricotta toast and the Smoked Salmon on Toast with poached eggs. All of the ingredients just tasted so fresh and of high quality. Really enjoyed our meal. read more

The corded is one of the best things to ever happen to Montclair. Like many ppl, a good breakfast at Raymond's is fine. but it's not Gourmet. The corner is hands down my favorite place to have breakfast outside of the city. And maybe that includes most of the city too!!! If only they had more space! But food-wise, if ai could judge them on this alone I'd be fine forever. Their menu you changes, while maintaining the important items that a customer returns for. Moreover, the staff are friendly and accommodating. I've also made a lot of friends at this place, due to the limited seating options. (This was pre COVID, when you could sit close to one another). But my point is, good people are attracted to this place bc it is simply amazing. I do encourage you to never order the fries unless you want a lifetime addition. You were warned. read more

Nice brunch spot. Kind of a small restaurant that seems to be able to accommodate about 20-25 customers inside and maybe another 10 with outside seating. Came here on a Friday morning around 10am and it was busy. Had to wait 20 minutes to get a seat for 4. Service was cool. They have a pretty nice range of brunch offerings from healthy to the more typical breakfast options of omelettes, bacon and pancakes. I ordered the baked eggs, which is a crisp corn tortilla, black beans, roasted tomato, fried egg and melted quest fresco cheese on top and garnished with sliced avocado. It was interesting and tasty. Not something I'd ever get again but it was worth trying once. The 2:30 cookie was very rich but overloaded with a ton of dough on the dry side, not the kind of cookie I prefer. Owner is a great guy and very conscientious about your experience there, so let them know if you're not 100% pleased. He will fix it. I've driven by this cafe a hundred times and I never had the chance to try them until this morning. I pulled up right before opening and well by 8am there were already people waiting to be seated inside and outside, the fact that they offer outdoor seating is crucial because there isn't much room inside there. But yes I will be back! I had a ham and cheese croissant and a breakfast sandwich to go, they offer your typical breakfast brunch items but there is a French/ Spanish influence that makes them unique from others, this place is always crowded when I pass so now I know why. Can't believe I didn't write this a long time ago. I can't say enough great things about this place. Every item I've ever got here has been extremely fresh and simply scrumptious. Try the mixed berry scone. There was a giant whole strawberry in the last one I got, and that flavor and texture mixed with the moist and flavorful scone batter was absolute heaven!! But I think what sets this place apart is the thoughtful touches, like giving you small containers of homemade (I think!) jam and butter when you order a biscuit or pastry. As much as I'm not a fan of the layout/seating arrangement of this place (really small and crammed), it still has to get 5 stars because everything is SO, SO good, high quality and the employees are always so nice and on top of their game. Things I've ordered are the fresh squeezed juices, pancakes, ham and cheese croissant (my favorite thing in the world and it's delicious here), cookie, assorted pastries, coffee, and fries. The pancakes are so unique but in a good way, nice and moist covered in vanilla syrup. The fries are skinny and crispy, if you're into that they're yummy. Almost every time I've been here my server gives me a complimentary pastry, nice touch! I recommend going right when they open to avoid crowds and waits, but that's just me. It should have been a red flag when I walked in and a family walked out and talking to each other about how rude the staff was, but we gave it a shot anyway. We literally still had food on our plates all three times the waitress asked if she could take our plates, by the third time my friend I just let her take our plates while there was still food on and we were still eating because they were really pushing to get us out. We then ordered another cappuccino, and without even asking, she brought it in "to go" cups saying we need to leave because drinking coffee was only for customers eating (we literally just ate). Waitress was ready with the card machine in hand with the amount ready to be scanned - she did not even show me the bill. We were not even there for an hour so it's not like we were hogging the table. This type if management is really short sighted, it's one thing getting customers to try your cafe, but another thing getting customers to come back or become regulars.
