Entrees: ordered 2 ribs & chicken combos with dragon fries (ribs medium heat, tenders texas hot) Service: 5 Quick and easy Food: 5 Ribs were really good, like a sweet spicy- not too crazy and very enjoyable, fall off the bone & tender Tenders were crazy good! Texas heat was HOT but so good- crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside. Dragon fries were good too, crispy and seasoning was on point. Over all, pretty solid eats! Would return & recommend. read more

The Cookshack - 1/4 rack of ribs & tenders with dragon fries - American Near Me - Webster, Texas

Very simple but good food, friendly staff, hot chicken. The service is pretty quick as well. The spice level of the chicken can be adjusted as necessary. I eat spicy food regularly but medium is enough for me. Great app with rewards if you download it read more

Food is great but half the time I get home and there is no dressing for my huge salad so you get 1 star.

I've never ... ever ... NEVER EVER rated a chain (or aspiring chain, such as this place) on this level. And chicken isn't even in my top three favorite meats! That notwithstanding, this review comes after a single online order/to-go visit. Claws down, the chicken sandwich here is the best on the fast food market, and the ONLY one that can be described as an experience. Not only is the chicken breast about as moist as they come, the breading (which almost feels like batter) maintains a wonderful crisp -- and there's not an overabundance of breading, as is happening among the players in the nationwide "chicken sandwich wars." The addition of house made coleslaw and a few deli-style pickle chips add wonderful cool crunch. What a sandwich! The chicken here (sandwiches and all) come in various spice levels. I ordered the 'medium' so that my not heat-seeking family members could have a sample. Lucky me, The Cookshacks 'medium' is like everyone else's 'spicy,' and I had to eat the whole thing myself. The strips here also deserve major props. Moist and meaty with the same crisp as the sandwich. Far superior to the competition. The fries are meh ... somewhat cold and stale by the time they arrived home. Mac & Cheese though is a creamy delicious meal within itself. Dang! This place gets there for the scratch! read more

When i went in, service was slow, but they seemed understaffed so it wasn't anyone's fault. The food is very very good, this is great munchies spot. read more

We ordered chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries The chicken is tender and crispy.. cooked to perfection and not greasy at all! The coleslaw gives it a nice balance with pickles that give it a nice crunch. Delicious!!! Order the hog heaven to share! You won't regret it. read more

So. Much. Food. First off, the HEY Y'ALL, WELCOME!! energy walking through the door is great! Simple menu of everything you need. Chose your version, heat level, sauce, side. Done. Super fast to get your food to your table. Comfy booths, laid back vibe all around. Every employee was friendly and professional, it is possible to be both! When not behind the counter, they're walking around checking on you. The food was so much, I have lunch for tomorrow! Mac n cheese is yummy smokehouse style. Kale salad is a full salad, not a side. Chicken strips are huge!! Plenty of sauce on the side. The heat is dusted on when you order so it's hot and fresh. Waffles were sweet and soft, with cinnamon butter:) I'm so glad we finally tried this place!! read more

First time in. You order at the counter, then will be served at your table. The employee taking our order was polite and complimented us on our choices (made me feel important/lol). I ordered the Shack Salad, and it was delicious! Avocados, greens, tomatoes, corn, goat cheese, chicken, tossed with a tasty vinaigrette. My spouse ordered hog heaven which consisted of pork rib meat (no bones) over French fries with barbecue sauce drizzled on top. He ordered his slaw on the side instead of part of the pile-up. The restaurant has comfy booths, plenty of tables, and a bar. If I was not driving, I would have had a margarita. I definitely recommend. Check out their menu...there are many options. read more

Late entry, this place was great. Got the strips & waffles. It was delicious. My buddy signed the waiver & got the hottest heat level. He was sweating profusely but handled it. Great place if you're in the area. read more

This place is new, so we were expecting a few hiccups, but we were pleasantly surprised to have none! The food came out fast and hot. The service was minimal (it's counter service, so you don't really have a ton of interaction with staff), but friendly. And the flavors were great, As seen in other reviews, the spice level might be an issue if you don't like spicy food. For me, the "mild" was a lot like other chicken restaurants' "spicy", so use that for your judgement. My kiddos had "none at all" and it was just fine. The chicken was crispy and came in a generous portion size. The Mac and cheese was really good too. All in all, great place! read more

Perfect for the Webster area, great food, great patio, good for feeding a family. Awesome sauce options and the possibilities are endless.

Heard about their location in montrose so we were budding to try their new location here in Bay Area. I think I have to preface that I don't take well to spicy food so that does factor to my review. We decided to try their chicken sandwich and chicken and waffles alongside their dragon fries. Chicken Sandwich: you can't really taste any other flavor than the spice (medium) which was pretty overwhelming for me but my boyfriend loves spicy food and he also agreed there's no other flavor other than spice. It's a dry spice so it really does overwhelm your palate once it hits your mouth. The coleslaw and pickles did absolutely nothing for this situation eventhough there was a lot of it LOL All I could taste was just spice, I think if the slaw had more flavor it would be more balanced. The crispness was there, but again, with it being a dry spice it is extremely overwhelming so I'd be weary If youre sensitive to spice. Dragon fries: just fries with a medley of spices on top. Not spicy at all, just a little more salty but a great french fry you can't complain about. We got the sweet heat sauce but it's more tangy and spicy than sweet really. Their shack sauce is like canes sauce but I think I prefer theirs. Chicken and waffles: did the same mistake of getting medium, SHOULDVE gotten the mild but OH WELL! On the bright side the chicken was juicy and the waffles were fluffy and not overtly sweet. They were delicious! The service was great: saw the chef going around asking customers about their meal and we had servers constantly checking up on us. The atmosphere was casual so makes for a great date spot. I think the price is pretty fair for the area and is a great addition to Bay Area Blvd. not sure if i would become a regular, the food did it's job and was nothing that was crazy special about it, but it's a great place to come and try if you live for that spicy burn! So definitely give it a try read more

First an foremost let me thank my server Justin on a great first experience here at THE COOKSHACK at the Webster location. He went far and beyond his duties to give great service and hospitality. If y'all come to this location ask for him tell him I sent you. Upon arrival the place was dead but I did go in the middle of the week. Don't get me wrong they do get real busy. The whole establishment look freaking amazing including the patio outside. A great family or date atmosphere. The menu has lots of options to choose from. A fan favorite that was recommended was the tenders and waffles with that cinnamon butter which was delicious. I also added the Mac n cheese. I don't eat everyone's Mac n cheese but this Mac was off the chain, a must have. They also have different heats to choose from on the chicken an the Texas hot is a preference everyone is raving about. Do try with caution or your tolerance. They do have a heat to try which requires you to sign a wavier before purchasing. That was a definite no for me lol. 10/10 on the establishment I highly recommend this spot to come try. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

I came in after church today, and they were playing death metal. The employees weren't anywhere to be seen, so I left.

Food is top notch, if you've been to the location downtown you won't be disappointed. They have a nice bar in the middle with great service. They have a lot of tv's so it's a great place to watch the game if you're looking to watch the Astros. read more

Two days in a row.... Ya I know. But I was dying to try the ribs! Don't put any heat on the ribs. It ruins them!! My first set came out and it was so spicy I think I was on fire. Even my server said I turned red. Hahaha. Customer service is IMPECCABLE!! She knew I wasn't going to be able to eat those with how hot they were, so she got me a different order on the house. To which were so much better!!! It wasn't delta blues or anything but they were tasty!! Better chicken than Chick Fil A and the service that's their pleasure. I STRONGLY recommend trying this place out. I've been delighted both visits in!! The prices are quite reasonable too. Cluck cluck! This one's fulla luck!! Holy cow! Chick fil A and Popeyes can take a seat. They don't have NOTHING on this chicken sandwich!! I got the Medium. It wasn't spicy at all but had a slight kick to it. Coleslaw on it was crisp and fresh. Breaded to perfection. Not too much, not too little. Their sauce tied it all together. Made me want to run and slap my Mama! (Jk). I had Mac and cheese for the side. That was pretty astonishing. Nice Smokey flavor with the white cheese. It was a great twist on typical Mac n chz! I was slightly disappointed they ran out of ribs, but it's another excuse to be back soon! Place was fairly busy, but not so busy you couldn't find a great place to sit. All in all, this place knocked it out the park like Altuve!!! read more

I asked the lady "what is good?" She recommended the chicken sandwich and kale salad. I ordered the sandwich medium heat. It wasn't very crowded because I went at 3 o'clock. The staff was very friendly. They even checked up on me a few times. I'm not a big fan of kale, but I was willing to try. It was very tasty. In fact, I've had a few cravings for this salad since trying it. It has some onions and tastes great. I never thought kale could taste so good. The chicken sandwich was rather big. I'm not a big fan of bread, so I usually take the top off. The chicken was crispy and moist. The medium sauce was hot. It was definitely spicy. Next time, I'm getting the mild. It had a couple of pickles on top. I love pickles. Next time, more pickles. I am definitely coming back here while in Houston. The customer service was great. The food was excellent, and the place was very clean. read more

Got takeout and the food was fresh and tasty. Staff was friendly as well. I ordered the chicken and waffles and kale salad. The chicken had good spice to it and the waffles were fluffy. The honey butter was really good. The kale salad was okay, and could probably use some more chicken. Overall the restaurant looks very clean and food was pretty good. read more

Okay listen, yes. I did get the kale salad at this fried chicken spot but just let me explain. It's all about balance right? I got medium heat chicken tenders with the kale salad with ranch and their sauce that I forget the name of. I would absolutely have both again. The salad was so good honestly. It had an apple cider vinegar style dressing and I was a big fan. ITS A YES FROM ME! ...as if that means anything read more

Service was amazing. Very impressed when my husband and I walked in, we were greeted with warm welcomes. Great environment. Clean, music was at a good volume. We can't wait to be back. read more

It's a nice place to eat. Not in my top 10 or anything, but the service and the food was good. The atmosphere was generic bar and grill.

Absolutely delicious! Today was our first time visiting. It did not disappoint. It's clean and the staff was very friendly. The manager came by and made sure we were ok. He even gave me a sample of the kale salad. No picture taken cause we eat it so fast it was so good read more

As fried chicken goes, this is a 5-star place. We waited a while to try The Cookshack since we don't eat fried chicken that often, for health reasons. But we'll be back. The fried chicken was excellent, enjoyable, and the sides we tried (kale salad and black-eyed pea salad) were generous servings and tasty. It is not cheap, but we did get two meals out of it. Service was good and helpful. One warning, low-spicy is still spicy. Not spicy was still flavorful without the heat. I'd personally take off points for having TVs, and too many at that, but the fried chicken was on the mark. I appreciate knowing if my reviews are Useful, Funny (or disagree), or Cool (concur). Thanks! read more

I went to the cookshack location on Washington Corridor and enjoyed it so I had to try this one that opened up in Clear lake. I can say it tastes as good. With already having tried it one time we decided to still get the classic chicken and tenders with the nice cookshack sauce that resembles raisin canes sauce. In addition, we got their rack of ribs which after having the ribs, I honestly say might be better than the chicken. Both of which are already outstanding. I would highly recommend trying them if you want some sort of chicken or ribs, even their sides are tasty. read more

I have eaten here before, and it was wonder, but today, I asked for mild seasoning on my chicken tenders. They were so hot and salty that I had to wash them off in the sink before I could eat them. I got medium for my husband because he loves hot stuff. He ate it but told me not to do that again. Tone it down, folks. read more

First time in today, had the chicken sandwich. Texas hot. All around the sandwich was delicious. Chicken was crispy, bun was soft, slaw and pickles were tasty and the sauce was great. The sauce... the sauce was also deceivingly mild on the way in... as I write this review from my porcelain throne I can say with absolute certainty, it's much hotter on the way out. Please send help... 10/10 would eat again. read more

We stopped by for lunch on a Friday. It was our first time there. The staff took the time to explain how to order. Our meals came out really fast and everything was still hot. The chicken tenders are wonderful. So moist and tasty. Also very large so I could only eat 2-1/2 tenders and I was full. My husband had the tender salad which he said was wonderful. The restaurant is really cute. Kind of a sports bar type ambiance. Bonus...they also serve beer and margaritas. We will definitely be back. read more

So I love hot chicken and knew I had to get some while in Houston. I ordered three tenders Texas Hot with fries & babyyy the flavor was all up & through that chicken. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because my tenders were on the small side. read more

The BEST HOT CHICKEN I've had! They have the perfect hot chicken--it's fresh and they offer it as chicken tenders, chicken sandwich, as chicken and waffles, or as chicken tacos. You can even do just ribs or ribs and tenders. My husband and I have gone twice now and will continue to visit. We've had the sandwich, chicken and waffles, and tenders with ribs. For first time visitors I do recommend the sandwich to start and their shack sauce is delicious (kinda similar to Cane's). I recently tried the ribs which fell off the bone and were so juicy. They have a heat selection for your chicken and even ribs: not hot, hot, medium, Texas hot, and finally AMF **requires a waiver to be signed**. I go with the medium as it's a heat that builds up. I've tried the Texas hot which is a solid heat (I equivalate it to Jinyas inferno hot) but does linger. My husband tried the AMF which can be deceiving--doesn't feel hot until you take another bite and then you're reaching for your drink. The ambience is what you'd imagine: country and sports bar feel with TVs around with sports on. They do offer beer, margaritas, and wine which were also really good. For those who eat at the restaurant, the service is FABULOUS. They come by and see if you anything and help keep the tables cleaned up. The staff is so friendly!! It also helps that they play good music too (variety of pop, hip hop). If you're wondering if you should try it than this review is your sign to check it out! read more

While the chicken was excellent, my waffle was incredibly soggy. But when you order "chicken and waffle," you kind of expect both to be awesome. The restaurant was cute, I liked the decor, and the food came as quickly as a soggy waffle can! read more

We saw lights when passing by and were drawn in like moths to a flame. There main menu item is chicken and I think I saw pork ribs. The chicken is "hot" chicken so expect it to be spicy but it was so good. They have limited drinks but for spicy chicken a frozen marge is always a good choice. Food here was 10 of 10 for the money. I hope they open one back home. read more

First time being here and it was amazing. The food is so good. The medium spice chicken sandwich is the safest bet if you like a bit of spicy, as it has the perfect blend of tastefulness and spice. From the moment we got there the customer service was so good and friendly. They helped me decide what I wanted and the manager was great and it felt like they were always checking up on me to make sure everything was good or if I needed anything. I've been back 2 more times after and it has been the same experience. Side note- The AMF spice level is extremely spicy especially if you are not conditioned to spicy food. There is a waiver you sign when you order it because of how spicy it is. I tried it and it singed my taste buds lol ;) read more
